INFORMATIONS. fe* aXLD3BR AND MALXCIOnSI.¥ WOUNDING On the 4th instant, JAMES BURNES, a stonemason, was killed at Salford, and on the 14th the coroner's jury returned a verdict of ' wilful murder against some person or persons unknown.' A warrant has been granted for tbe appre- hension of two men of the following description : JONATHAN alias JAUNTY EDWARDS, a union brick- maker, lately lived in Walter- street, Clowes- street, West Gorton, near Manchester, about, 32 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, stiff build, round red face, Bandy whiskers, is very proud, and fond of talking in company ; dressed in black cloth or pepper- and- salt mixture coat, black velvet or green flowered, white ground, washing vest, light woollen cord tronseis, patent leather boots, woollen or white calico shirt, with linen fancy frilled ftont, tall black silk hat, silver watch, and gold plated guard ; is married, has sold up his house, gone, and left his wile behind. This man was notorious in the late Trades Union Inquiry at Manchester. THOMAS, alias TOM EDWARDS, a union brickmaker, brother to the above, lately lived with his mother and brother in Mary- street, Regent- road, Salford, 24 or 26 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, full led face, swarthy or sallow com- plexion, owing to exposure to the sun, dark cast or look, slight moustache, may have Blight downy beard, walks verv erect, and has a swaggering gait ; dressed when last seen ( 4th inst.), in working clothes and heavy navvy boots, such as are worn by brickmakers, but is now supposed to be dressed in dark cloth clothes, and no doubt will bear as respectable an appear- ance as his brother. Most likely thev will be found together, and they may have an ordinary carpet bag with them ; it is supposed that they went away on the 9th instant, and that they will emigrate. Information to be given to Captain Torrens, Chief Constable, Salford, or to Superintendent Williams. Detective Department, Town Hall, Salford.— Bow- tt., October 20. Farther information respecting tbe child found in a mill dam at White Lee, Midgley, on the 4th instant, advertised in tbe Police Gazette of the 8th instant ; at an adjoined inquest held on the 15th instant, a verdict of wilful murder againtt some person or persons unknown was returned by the coroner's jury. Information to be given at the West Riding Constabu- lary Office, Halifax.— Bow- street, October 20. The dead body of a newly born female infant child, tied up in a brown paper parcel, was found in the river Medway, in the parish of Boxley, Kent, on the 13th instant ; an inquest was held on the 15th instant, and a verdict of Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown, returned. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Ovenden, Kent County Constabulary, Maidstone.— Bow- street, October 20. hair ; dressed in dark blue coat, light trousers, and champagne charley hat ; it is thought that they may be stopping at some lodging- house in London or the provinces. Information to be given to Superintendent Williamson, Detective Department, Great Scotland Yard, Whitehall, S. W.— Bou>- st., October 22. On the 13th inst., WILLIAM HARVEY, of Framsden, labourer, obtained cash for a forged cheque for £ 00 10s., at Woodbridge, and received eight £ 5 NoteB on Alexanders and Co., Nos. D 632, 245, 915, 989. 2135, 2399, 2543, and 1445; one of these notes was subsequently changed for gold at Debenham, and a few days after another was offered at the same place, but the police were sent for, and the man who wanted the charge absconded before a policeman arrived. A warrant is now in the hands of the police against Wm. Harvey, above mentioned : he is about 28 y- ars of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, light curly hair, small whiskers and beard under the chin ; dresses in dark clothes, and is respectable in appearance. The notes D 632, 2543, and 989 are recovered. Information to be given to the Superintendent of Police, Woodbridge, Suflolk, — Bou>- street, October 22. FORGERY. Description of HENRY HERBERT WRIGHT, clerk to Messrs. John Hunt and Co , Communication- row, Birmingham, charged with obtaining £ 122 by means of a forged order, on the 16th instant : about 31 years of age, 5 feet 6 inclns high, fair complexion, light hair, beard, and moustache, nervous and sanguine, and walks very much on his heels ; dresses plainly and wears a tall hat. Information to be given to Chief Con- stable Glossop, Birmingham.— Bow- sircet, October 25. Absconded charged upon a warrant with forging a cheque for £ 60 : GEORGE MASON, 16 years of age, looks older, 5 feet 4 inches high, sillow complexion, brown hair, rather sullen looking, with shuffling gait ; dressed in brown tweed coat, supposed dark trousers and vest, and black hat; he is accom- panied by a boy named JAMES DAVIS, 16 years of age, 5 ft. 3 or 4 inches high, slightly made, florid complexion, and fair ftOBBSSRY ANS liARCINT FROM THE P8RSOK. Stolen from the person of a gentleman at Melton Mowbray Statutes on the 22nd instant : a £ plate silver Geneva Watch, and Metal Chain, No. 9764, matter Gamier, ' Thos. Hawley,' scratched on the inside case. Information to be given to Super- intendent Piatts, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire.— Bow- ttreet, October 25. burgiary ANID HOUSJ BREAKING. During the night of the 23rd instant, the shop of Catharine Morris, of Cau Office, near Llanfair, Montgomeryshire, was broken into, and the following articles stolen therein : 5 lbs. of fresh Butter, made up in pounds: one shilling, two sixpenny, and a threepenny loaf of Bread ; 2 lbs. of shag Tobacco ; a table Knife ; a Towel; and a tin water Can. Information to be given to Superintendent Stiefford, Welsh- pool, or to P. C. Davies, Llanerlyl, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- street, October 27. Between 10- 30 a. m. and 2- 30 p. m. on the 23rd instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Richard Carter, of the township of Hudswell, near Richmond, was broken into during the absence of the family, and tbe following property stolen therein : a black cloth Coat and Vest; a blue mixture cloth Coat and Vest, with outside pockets; a pair of woollen cord Trousers, newly washed ; a pair of fustian Trousers ; a white Tablecloth ; a Tape- line in brass case ; three pairs of Spectacles ; a pair of old strong lace- up Boots ; ^- lb. of Tea, 2 lbs. of Sugar, and a number of salt Herrings. Supposed bv two tramps who were seen about the house : about 20 years of age, short, slender build ; dressed in dark cloth clothes and caps. Information to be given to Superintendent Stelhng, North RidiDg Constabu- lary, Richmond.— Bow- street, October 27. Description of two men charged with highway robbery at Warbleton, Sussex, on the night of the 21st instant: one, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, light com. plexion, slight figure, and a butcher; dressed in blue frock, open in front, light cord trousers, black billycock hat, and old shoes ; the other, about 25 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, light complexion, stout figure ; dressed in dark jacket, light vest, apron tied round his waist, and cord trousers, carries a flag basket, is an umbrella mender, and supposed to be known in the neighbourhood of Tenterden, Kent. They are likely io have several pounds in their possession, as they stole £ 6 in Gold and a £ 5 Bank of Eogland Note, stamped ' T. Price, St. Leonards.' Information to be given to Superintendent Waghorn. Hailsham, to the Constabulary Office, Lewes.— Bow- street, October 25. Between 11 p. m. on the 21st and 6 a. m. on the 22nd inst, the dwelling- house of John Graham, of Skipton, was entered, and 3 Sovereigns, 8s. in Silver, and an old silver verge Watch stolen therein. Also, during the same night, the dwelling- house of John Carr, of Skipton, was entered, and an old silver verge Watch and a small gold Brooch stolen therein. Also, during the same night, the dwelling- house of Newrick Darnton, of Skipton, was entered, and a pair of strong lace- up Boots, one ( supposed left) has been repaired on outer edge of sole, and 10s. in Silver stolen therein. A pair of lace- up clogs were left behind. Also, during the 6ame night, the dwelling- house of William Hawkswell, of Skipton, was entered, and a crooked sixpence, a ditto halfpenny, and four American Cents stolen therein. Entrances were effected by the windows having been left unfastened. Information to bo given to Superintendent Grisdale, West Riding Constabulary, Skipton. — Bow- street, October 25. Stolen from a cottage at the Pertly, Salop, on the 23rd instint, by means of housebreaking, the property of John Hayward : a pair of bedford cord Trousers, worn at bottom of left leg, and white bone buttons; au old black cloth Coat, pockets on hips with flaps, and one inside breast; and an old black cloth Vest, soiled down front. By a man ot the follow- ing description, who was begging in the neighbourhood: 30 years of ace, 6 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion, light hair, and round face; dressed in a white slop, jimcrow hat, and the stolen trousers. Information to begiveo to Super- intendent Gough, Oswestry, or to Sergeant Thomas, Ellesmere, Salop.— Bow- street, October 25. Between 12 and 1 on the morning of the 23rd instant, a dwelling- house in Bradford was burglariously entered, and the following property Btolen therein, viz, : four £ 5 Bank of England Notes, £ 6 in Gold, and some Silver in a small Russian leather pocket book with two compartments, one marked ' answered,' and the other ' unanswered ;' also a heavy gold sight Hunting Watch, keyless, compensation balance, makers'names ' Manoah Rhodes and Son' on the dial and movement, No. 19786 ; had attached a heavy 18- carat gold Albert Chain, and a large swing Seal with Stone. A person of the following description is suspected: about 31 years of age, black hair, and whiskers worn rather short, looks odd with his eyes, and slightly built; dressed in a black cloth walking coat, black trousers, light waistcoat and black hat, and has the appearance of a butler. Any person or persons giving such information as may lead to the apprehension and sonviction of the offender or offenders, shall receive £ 100 reward on appli « cation to Chief Constable Grauhan, Police Office, Bradford.— Bow- ttreet, October 25. During the 21st instant, the houto of Joseph Jones, labourer, Windy Hall, Mainstone, was broken and entered, and the following Articles stolen therein: a black cloth Jacket, two outside pockets, and one inside pocket, a Waistcoat, of same material ; a grey Jacket, outride pockels with flaps, pocket on left breast, a Waistcoat, of the same material; a dark ribbed Coa1, with Binall white stripe, a Waistcoat to match ; a pair of dark Trousers; a red flannel Shirt, dark leaf; a small striped Necktie; a silk Neckerchief, with red stripes ; a pair of Boots, lately tapped, patent leather in front, three roves of nails in centre, and tips on heels; a white Clothes Bag ; 4Jd. in Money. Supposed by two tramps, who were begging in the neighbourhood the same day: one tall, very swarthy complexion, and wore dark clothes and billycock hat. The other shorter, and wore dark clothes. They are supposed to have cut their hands in entering, as blood stains wore found in the house. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Newtown, or to Police Constable Watkin, Churchstoke, Salop.— Boto- street, October 25. " The detached kitchen in the occupation of Mr. B. Butler, grazier, of Caldecott, in the county of Rutland, was broken into during the night of the 21st or morniog of tbe 22nd inst., and stolen therein : a small copper tea Kettle, round handle, a dent on the rim, and quite bright; three or four pairs of boy's stron< lace- up Boots, sizes 1 or 2 ; an old Blanket ; a tame Rabbit, brown and white ; a black Spanish Hen ; two or three old brass Candlesticks ; and a table Cloth, marked ' B.' Infor- mation to be given to Inspector Harrison, Police Station, Uppingham, Rutland.— Bow- street, October 25. Between il p. m. the 20th and 6 a. m. on the 21st instant, the dwelling- house of George Wells, in the parish of East Peckham, was broken and entered, and the following articles stolen: 14 yards of Silk, black ground with white and yellow flowers ; 1 brown silk Skirt, with dark brown narrow stripes ; 1 length of Flannel ; 4 yards of check Shirting ; 10^ yards of black and violet woollen Shirting ; two new Vests, one black cloth, the other dark, single breasted, standup collars; 1 pair of lace up Boots, fancy toe caps, specked and nailed with small round nails, the left boot has the second place where the eyelet hole should bo not punched out so thin, has one more eyelet hole on one side of lef t boot than the other; 3 silver ted Spoons, marked " J J. E.,' 1 German silver mustard Spoon; 2 salt ditto; 1 pair of sugar Tongs; and a black shiny leather Bag. The offender is supposed to be wearing the stolen boots as a pair of Wellington boots were found near the house. Information to be given to Superintendent Hulse, Police Station, West Mailing, or to Sergeant Bates, Wateringbury, Kent.— Bow- street, October 25. Between 12 midnight 20th and 6 a. m. on the 2lBt inst., the dwelling- house of the Rev. E. Clayton, Rector of Astbury, was burglariously broken into and the following property Btolen : about £ 5 or £ 6 in Gold, Silver, and Copper Coins; an oblong plated Inkstand ; a round raised oxidised metal Inkstand ; a small round silver Box ; and the Top of a metal Inkstand, stamped with the family crest. Information to be given to Sergeant Naylor. Astbury, or to Superintendent Row- bottom, Middlewich, Cheshire— Bow- street, October 22. During the night of the 19th instant, the farmhouse of Mr. Evans, Penisafyllan, in the parish of Llansantffraid, Montgomeryshire, was broken into, and a pair of light elastic- side Boots, toe capped, men's size, recently tapped, sprigs in heels and forepart, a pair of cloth Boots, and about 10 lbs. of Cheese, stolen therein. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Strefford, Welshpool, or to Policc Constable Williams, Llansantffraid, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- street, October 22. Stolen from the dwelling- house of William Brown, East Grinstead, about 3 p. m. on the 16 th instant: an old metal Watch, has a piece broken out of the face, at the figure 6, and a German silver Chain attached, a grey shooting Jacket, with two pockets outside, and one inside breast, two old Clarionets, a Flute, and a Fife. Supposed by a man, about 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, light complexion ; dressed in the stolen jacket, light trousers, dark cap. and red necktie. Stolen on the night of the 24th instant, from the farm premises of Mr. S. Barritt, at Latchingdon : a very dark brown cart Horse, 5 years old, white star on forehead, in good condi- tion, and very active, supposed lost a front tooth. Informa- tion to be given to Inspector Rutledge, Police Station, Latch- ingdon, Maldon, Essex — Bow- street, October 27. Supposed to have been stolen trom a field at Filkins, Oxon, during the night of the 18th ioaUut : a stout made cream cotoared Pony. 13 hands high, aged, btack legs, mane and tail, mottled about the body, and in good condition, the property of Mr Samuel Smith, of Somerton, Deddington, farmer. If stolen a reward of £ 2 will be paid for Buch information as shall lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders and its restoration to the owner. Supposed stolen from Brentwood, on the 15th instant ; a dark chesnut mare Pony, about 8 years old, 14 hands high, and lopg tail. Stolen from a field at Walsall, during the night of the 20th instant, the property of Henry Hammond : a bay horse Pony, 6 years old, 12 hands high, saddle marked, white hind fetlocks, bang tail, and in low condition. Information to be given to Chief Constable Cater, Walsall, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, October 27. Description of JOHN MILLER, of Tofts of Tain, in the parish of Bower, and county of Caithness, charged with Sheep stealing: he is about 23 years of age, about 6 feet 7 inches high, stout, slightly pockpitted, large head and mouth, very thick and prominent lips, light hair, whiskers, and ipoustache ( inclined to curl); supposed dressed in dark tweed suit and round hat. Was last heard of at his father's house, on the 23rd instant. Information to be given to Chief Constable Mitchell, County Police Office, Wick, Caithness shire, who holds a warrant for bis apprehension, and by whom £ 2 reward will be paid.— Bow- street, Oct'ber 27. Stolen from a field at Donghton, in the parish of Tetbury, on the night of the 19th instant : a dark bay curt Mare, 6 years old, with the hair chafed off the near side and shoulder, with sand crack in one of the fore feet, and a little white on one of hei heels, with black mane and tail, the property of Mr. George Giles, of Tetbury, farmer. If stolen, £ 2 reward will be paid on conviction and recovery of the mare ; if strayed, all reasonable expenses will be paid. Information to be Riven to Sergeant White, Police Station, Tetbury.— Bow- street, Oct 27. Stolen from a field near Meadowtown, on the night of the 19th instant: a brown Mate, aged, about 15 hands high, with white stripe down the face and three white fetlocks, the off fore le^ r dark brown, and sometimes walks lame with it, the pro- perty of William Morris, Meadowtown. Information to be given to Superintendent Caswell, County Constabulary, Shrewsbury, or to Sergeant Waterson, Minsterley, Salop.— Botc- street, October 25. Stolen from a field at Saltley, in the occupation of Mr. Porter, on the evening of the 16th instant, or early on the next morning, a brown Horse, about 14 hands high, about 8 years old, and blind on the off side ; has a little mark at the back of the fore leg on the near side, caused from the rubbing of the girth. Information to be given to Deputy Chiet Constable Bloxham, Aston, near Birmingham — Bov>- streety October 22. Fouud on the 10th instant in a field at Stanton Long, S lop, supposed to have been stolen: a brown mare Pony, about 13 years old, about 14 hands high, small star on forehead, tau cropped ; had on when found a Saddle with one Stirrup Iron, no bridle. Information to be given to Superintendent Ivins, Bridgnorth, or to Sergeant Bullock, Much Wenlock, Salop.— Bow street, October 22. X AROiiNY AND EMS SZZLE i Absconded from Welbourn, on the 17th instant, a tramp- ing blacksmith, about 23 years of age, 6 feet 6 or 7 inches high, no whiskers, a tuft of hair on chin ; dressed when last seen in a round mottled coat, light moleskin trousers, and short lace- op boots, supposed to be a native of Kirkstead, Lincolnshire, charged with stealing a great Coat; a black cloth Vest; white Slop; and a meerschaum Pipe, the property of a fellow lodg- r. Information to be given to Superintendent Pearmain, County Police Station, Sleatord, Lincolnshire.— Bow- sirut, October 27. Description of EDWARD SHARP, charged with having, between 8 and 9 a. m. of the 17th inst., stolen trom a dwelling- house at Sr. Liwrence, a black cloth Coat, nearly new, two pocket in hips and one in right breast: he is about 25 years of age 6 feet 2 to 4 inches high, dark hair, few dark whiskers, dark eyes, which he rolis when talking, and pale complexion : dressed in dark cloth clothes and black bat ; is by trade a tailor, and a native of Boston, Lincolnshire. He was traced to Canterbury on the afternoon of the robbery, and will probably make for London, either selling or pledging the coat on the road. Information to be oiven to Superintendent Stokes, Sandwich, or to Sergeant Cladish, Minster, Isle of Thanet, Kent Constabulary.— Botn- rtreet, October 25. Absconded, charged with sheep stealing at Saxilby, on the 14th instant: SAMUEL RAYNOR, drover, a native of Wellow, Notts, about 35 years of age, nearly 5 feet 9 inches high, dark hair, whiskers, and complexion, and dressed in a long dark coat, dark trousers, ar: d soft billycock hat; has been in the army, and has an anchor and other figures tattooed on back of bands. He is well known amongst cattle dealers and drovers in the counties of Lincoln, Nottingham, Leicesters, and Northampton, and attends fairs, markets, & c., seeking employment, as a drover. Information to be given to Super- intendent Keep, County Police, Lincoln, who holds a warrant for his apprehesion.— Bow- street, October 25. JOSEPH ASHMORE has absconded, charged with felony at Hammerwicb, Staffordshire : he is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, black hair and whiskers, meeting under the chin, very sallow complexioD, having served in the 88th Regiment of Foot in the Indies as armorer sergeant, Registered No 4910; dressed in a dark tweed jacket and trousers and billycock hat. Is supposed to be wearing one of the stolen Coats, or a blue pilot cloth Top Coat, bound with black worsted binding, two pockets outside, and left hand breast pocket has black worsted lining ; a dress black cloth Coat, silk lining, with pocket in the plaits of skirts behind; and two black cloth Waistcoats, much worn. Information to be given to Superintendent Holland, Wednesbury, or to Sergt. Smith, Muckley Corner, Staffordshire.— Bow St., Oct. 25. AWonded, charged on a warrant with embezzlement: HENRY EVANS, clerk and toll collector at the New Meat Market. West Smithfield, London, late of No. 33, Liquorpond- street,, Gray's- inn- road, about 30 years of age, about 5 feet {' inches high, brown hair, no whiskers or moustaehe. Infor- mation to be given to Inspector Bailey, City of London Police, Detective Department, No. 26, Old Jewry, E, C.~ Bow- stree', October 25. On the afternoon of the 19th instant, two men by means of flash notes and counterfeit coin, fraudulently obtained from a young gentleman, at an iun situate in North street, Wolver- hampton, a gold Wa » ch and Chain, with Swivel, Seal and Sovereign attached, maker Hursts and Wray, Birmingham ; the No. of the watch is 8051, and can be identified by a private mark. Oue man wns about 24 years of age. 6 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion and hair, whiskers cut Bhort, and wort- plaid trousers and coloured shirt. The other was about 50 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches htgh, fresh complexion, light brown hair, and has a small tuft of hair on his chiu. £ 5 reward will be paid to any person or persons who will give such information as shall lead to their apprehension, and recovery of the property. Information to be given to Captain Segrave, Chief Constable, Police Office, Wolverhampton.— Bow- street, October 22.
