On the 17ih inst the Body of a newly- born female Child * » as found in the river Taff, at Cardiff, near the hospital ship * Hamadryad,' wrapped in a piece of calico or napkin, and tied • up with the body was a brick, wrapped up separately in a cloth. At the coroner's inquest the jury returned a verdict ot Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown. Description of GEORGE GRATTON, alias FINCH, of 16, Gladstone- Btreet, Wyvil- road, South Limbelh, London, charged on a warrant with forging a bank Cheque at Peter- borough 011 the 19th instaht for £ 37 10s. ( dated 17th June, 18G9), on Messrs. Barnard, Barnard, and Wing, bankers, Bed- ford : from 30 to 35 years of ega, 6 feet 9 or 10 inches high, proportionate mike, fresh complexion, light hair, and small light 11 oustache ; dressed in a suit of black cloihes, high crowned hat, occasionally a white waistcoat, and light giey coat; he is of good address, and stated he was travelling tor the firm of Taylor, George, and Co., wine, brandy, and cigar importers, 24, Chapel- walk, South Castle- street, Liverpool. Mason, of Windsor, was broken into, and the following property stolen therein : two gold Watches, makers Jacot & Lockel ; two gold Ch-. ins ; a double gold eye Glass attached to one ; a gold Brooch, with likeness of a gentleman inside ; a small ditto ; a plated ditto, with hair ; a Bilver Thimble; six silver Spoons, marked ' M J. F.,' two plated salt Sfoons ; two ditto egg ditto ; two dessert ditto ; two table ditto ; two silver table Spoons; a £ 5 Note; two Sovereigns ; two guinea Pieces ; a silver buiter Knife ; a ditto Knife, Fork, and Spoon, pearl handles, marked ' A. Between 3 and 9 p. m. on the 26ih ultimo, the dwelling- douse of D. Two cottages at Nuifield were entered on the 26th ins'ant, and the following property stolen therein r two Watches, one a 6ilver verge, with steel chaii,, maker Richard Walters, the other old- fashioned 6ilver, steel chain, two keys attached; a pair of worsted cord Trousers, a pair of light cloth mixture ditto, a pair of dark cloth mixture with three black stripes, a grey cloth Vest, two new calico Shirts, five Pocket Handker- chiefs, and three pairs of Stockings, all marked ' G S.' Between 0 and 8 p. m. ou the £ 0. a instant, the dwelling- house of William Snowball, of Slough, Bucks, was broken into, and the following property stolen therein : a gold Watch, maker Cobett, ' F. G.' on back ; about £ 13 in Gold and Silver; six small silver Tea Spoons, much worn, two Dessert ditto, and a Table ditto, all marked ' F. G.' By two men who were seen going to and from the house : one about 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches hi{> h, stout built, dark moustache and whiskers ; dressed in long black frock coat, black trousers, and high black I hat. The other about 35 years of Bge, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, light brown hair, moustache and whiskers, stout built ; drtssed in long black frock coat, black trousers, and low- crowned billycock hat; both of respectable appearance. Between 8 a. m. aud 2 p. m. on the 24th instant, the dwelling- house of Ilenry Mapson, at Iver, wa9 entered, and the following articles stolen therein : an old fashioned smooth case silver Watch, open face, has a dent in centre of case ; a pair of cotton rord Trousers, nearly new ; a pair of mixture cloth trousers, bouud lound top with red braid ; a pair of lace- Shoes with brass eyelets, bradded tips recently taken off; from Nantdram, in the parish of Llangerniew, Denbighshire, between II a. m. and 4 p m. on the 21st instant, on Llanrwst Fair Day: a black velvet shooting Jacket, pockets in each side ; a Waistcoat of same material ; a pair of black cloth Trousers; a red flannel Shirt; a white calico ditto; two common cotton Handkerchiefs; and a quantity of Bread and Butter. Information to be given to Superintendent Hammond, Constabulary Office, Llanrwst, North Wales.— Bow- street, June 26. On the night of the 22nd instant, the dwelling- house of Albert Gosling, in the parish of Westham, Sussex, grocer and draptr, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : two money Tills, containing about £ 3 in Copper and about 6s. in Silver ; a Box containing twenty or thirty pocket Knives, some doable and some single blades, some white and some brown bandies ; a bottle ol Rum and half a bottle of Brandy ; two pairs of Bedford cord Trousers ; two dark cloth Vests; J lb. of Tobacco; and ( supposed) several coloured cotton Handker- chiefs. Further information respecting the burglary at the vicar- age. Wisbech, St. Mary's, advertised in the PoliceGazette of the 14th lust.: also missing a g" IJ Ring, with five facets, containing figures of femple saints, believed to be 14' h century work ; and a silver filagree Carl cite. A small magnifying Glass, in a bone handle, the shape 1 f a weather glas% was left on the premises by the burglars. Stolen from Stourbridge Common, Cambridge, iictnccu the night of the 24th and morning of the 25th instant, the property of Mr. Jg. mes Lee, ot NewuiaTket- road, a valuable black horse Pony, white face, well up before, white spot under the belly, mane hangs on Jiear side, nostrils inclined to be large, hind legs white, near hoof worn at the toe, hind hoofs are inclined to he white, about 7 years old, and 14 or 15 hands high. Stolen from a field at Grange Farm, in the borough of Bideford, during the 1 ight of the 22nd instant, a giey nag Pony, between 0 and 7 years old, 12$ hands high, » art on nose, marked with the ietter ' S.' under the saddle, square tail, and in good condition, the property of Mr. Junes Crang, maltster, & c. £ 1 reward will be paid on recovery of the pony, and conviction of the offender or offenders. Stolen from the person of John Berridge, ou the 22nd instant, a German silver Geneva Watch, with a Bilvjr A'ber Guard attached. By two men : one a labourer, a native of Cornwall. 24 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion, black hair, whiskers, and moustache, rather stout figure; dressed in dark brown coat and vest, dark trousers, black cap, and old boots : the other a groom, 22 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, light complexion, very slight sapdy whiskers, blue eyes, light brown hair, slender figure ; drested in black cloth coat and vest, light grey trousers, large black billycock hat, and slender lace- up boots. Between 2 and 7 p m on the 26ih instant, the cottage of John Freeman, of Datchet, Bucks, was broken into, and the following articlej stolen therein : a gold breast Pin. thiee links crossing each other, one ditto squate head, set with blue dots, one imitation gold ditto, anchor shape, a gold keeper Ring, and about 4s. in Silver and Coppers. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunham, Slough, Bucks.— Bowst, June 28. The dwelling- house of Mr. W. G. Hunter, at Ore, was broken into early on the morning of the 27th ins'ant, and a Derby Cheese ( from 24 to 30 lbs. weight), some Bread, and other articles stolen therein. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes ; to Superintendent Guestling, Hastings ; or any Police Station in Eist Sussex.— Boic- s reet, June 28. Supposed to have been stolen duting the night of the 21st instant, from a field at the Hill End Farm, in the parish of Weston- BeggBrd, the property of Mr. Thomas Fawkes, an aged, dark- brown, half bred Mare, nearly black, brown muzzle, two hind fetlocks white, a substance formed on top of crest, in the mane, very thick in the jaw, about 14 j hands high. Whoever will give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders, if stolen, shall receive £ 3 reward. Stolen from a field at Eyam, between the 16' h and 23rd instant, the property of John Outram, farmer, Wardlow, a fat Ram, marked with raddle across the back and loins, and a large spot on near shoulder. Information to he given to Super- intendent Williams. Bikewell, or to Inspector Cruit, Stoney Middleton, via Sheffield.— Bow- street, June 28. BURGLARY AND HOUSF, BREAKING. On the night of the 27th i. stant. the dwelling- house of Mr. George Sheppard, shopkeeper, of Keynsham, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therein : three men's Coats, one light elastic cloih, nearly new, pocket at each side, another a light grey, has been turned, pocket at each side, the other a black cloth frook, about half worn ; a pair of boy ' s grey cloth Trousers, with black stripe down the legs ; six silver Tea Spoons; a silver Table Spoon, marked ' E. C.;' and a silver Tea Spoon, marked ' J. H.' Information to be given to Superintendent Emson, Somerset Constabulary, Temple On the night of the 20th instant, the Railway Station, Bexhill, was broken into, and stolen from parcels therein : a white flannel Shirt, a grey flannel Shirt, and Bix yards of Twill. Information to he given at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes ; to Superintendent Jeffery, GueBtling ; to Police Con- stable Moore, Bexhill; or at any Police Station in East Sussex. — Bow- street, June 25. About 8 a. m. on the 22nd instant, the dwelling- house of James Potts, of North Rode, near Macclesfield, Cheshire, was broken into during the absence of the family, and stolen therein : a black cloth Coat, sleeves lined with yellow twilled calico, has two pockets outside the skirt, and one inside left breast; a black cloth Vest, buttons up the chin, lined with yellow twilled calico ; a pair of black cloth Trousers, with fall front, lined with grey calico ; a white twilled silk Handker- chief, with faded black border ; a pair of man's lace- up Boots, with brass eyelet holes, and gutta percha bottoms ; an old- fashioned silver verge Waich. with the glass broken, loose cases, and a pin to fasten the hinge ; and a German Bilver Chain attached. Information to be given to Superintendent Williamson, Macclesfield, or to Sergeant Gibson, Police Station, Gawsworth, Cheshire.— Bow- street, June 25. Stolen on the 19th instant from a field at Wilstock, in the parish of North Petherton, Somerset, a chesnut cob Horse, 6 years old, about 14£ hands high, and has a white mark down the face. Information to be given to Superintendent Jeffs, North Petherton, Somerset.— Bow- street, June 28. Stolen from a meadow in the parish of Goudhurst, between the 17th and 18th instant, 2 Kent fat Sheep, shorn and marked ' D. S.' in pitch ; if ewes, on near shoulder; and if wethers, on rump ; the property of David Southon. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Morgan. Kent County Con- stabulary, Cranbrook, Kent.— Bow- street, June 28. Supposed to have heen stolen on the night of the 20th inst., from a pasture at Tilsmer Waldron, the property of Mr. Robert Fuller, miller, of Waldron, East Sussex, a black and white grizzle mare Pony, 2 years old, 12 hands high, has been worked, the letter ' W." burnt in on shoulder and • T.' on the hip, on the near side. Stolen from a field, during the night of the 22nd instant, a black cart Horse, 6 years old, a white star on forehead, switch tail a scar on the near shoulder, long make, has hair from the chest to part of the way under the belly, four inches long, like a small mane, and is in rather low condition ; the property of Richard Botterill, tainier. On the 18h instant, a young mau of the following description hired a brown Mare, three parts bred, likely to kick or bite a stranger, and there would be a difficulty in putting on a saddle, of Mr. Henisley. King's- road Brighton, he has absconded, and it is thought ( hat lie lias disposed ot the Mare : he is about 18 years of age, 6 leet 4 inches high, boyish appearance, and slight made ; dressed in a melton coat, tight fining light trousers, and black deerstalker hat. Stolen on the night of the 19th instant, from a field in the parish of Bruen, Oxon, one ewe Lamb, marked with red ochre on the right hip, the property of Charles Gillett, of Tangley, Oxon. Supposed stolen during the night of the 15th instant, from a meadow at Hurley, Berks : a black Cob, 4 years old, 13 bands high, a white siar in the forehead, near fetlock whi'e, and white near hind foot, bang tail, and has a mark scarcely- perceptible across the chest. By a man, about 28 years of age, 5 feet 5 or G inches high, dark complexion, aud few dark whiskers ; dresBed in black coat, dark cloth trousers and vest, aud high- crowned black hat. Absconded on the 25th instant, from 20, Little Queen- st., Holhorn, embezzling £ 4 : a youth, servant, 17 years of age, 5 feet 4 iuclies high, fair complexion, light hair, blue eyes, and dressel in dark c'othes; triends reside at Fullwood's- rents, Uoloorn.— Metropolitan Police, F Division. Description of HENRY WHITE, a cattle drover, who paralysed a little on the left side, walks lame, uses a walking- stick, respectable appearance, and good address ; was last heard of at Stanley- road, Bootle, near Liverpool, He will very likely take lodgings in the neighbourhood of some watering- place in Lancashire. Information to be given to Superintendent a warrant with stealing a black pilot cloth Coat with velvet collar. He is 23 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, freBh complexion, light brown hair, no whiskers, has a small tuft of hair on chin, stout build ; dressed iu a light grey coat and vest, cord trousers, aud a felt hat ; he has a Bwaggeiing gait, and is likely to be found among low horse and cattle dealers; was seen going in the direction ot London. Absconded on the 17th instant from Penzance, charged on warrant wiih stealing a Book and Money of his employers. James Dtlz- ll Newall, draper, 12, Penruse- terrace, Penzance. JOHN LA W, travelling draper, a naiive of Dumfries, Scot- laud, 25 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high stout build, walks erect, fair complexion, light hair, ginger whiskers, wore a dark grey tweed coat, short skirt, pockets outside, vest ot a similar material, mixed yellow speckled trousers with black stripe down the 6ide, and a tuscan hat with black ribbon. Informa- tion to be given to Head Constable Olds, Borough Police Station, Penzance, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— bow- street, June 28. Escaped from the custody of the police at Wootton Basset, on the 15th instant, JAMES REEVES. a licensed hawker, and native of Birmingham about 23 years of « ge, 6 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark hair and complexion, brown moustache, and bald place on fore part of bead ; dresssed in dark mixture suit. Superintendent Head, Town Hall, Oxford, holds a warrant for bis apprehension, on a charge of stealing six plated Watches, one of which is recovered. His wife is about 21 years of age, dark hair and eyes, and dres- ed in a dark skirt, ilack cloih jacket, and small brown bonnet. £ 2 reward will he paid upon his apprehension. Information to he given to Sergeant Cleverly, Wilts Constabulary, Wootton Basset, or to Supeiintendent North, Swindon.— Bow- street, June 25. JAMES HENRY PRESTON, late clerk to Messrs Pickford and Co., carrieis, Birmingham, absconded about a fortnight since, and is charged ou a warrant with embezz e- ment ; he is about 45 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, sallow complexion, red moustache, whiskers, and beard, which reaches to his tireast, rat her stoutly made, and stammers a little; dressed respectably. Information to be given to Mr. Howston, malinger, Picktord's Wharf, Curzon- street, who will give a rewaid ol £ 20 lor his apprehension, or to Mr. Glossop, Chief ot Police, Birmingham,— Ho'r- street, June 25. Absconded from Deiby on the 21st instant, charged with Absconded on tbe 24th instant, from the Boy's Home and stealing £ 460, the monies of the Derby Commerciil Banking irmatory, Wandsworth, stealing £ 3: JAMES SI'EM- Company, in whose employ he was as clerk, CHARLES HAMMOND, about 23 years of age, 5 teet 6 inches high, brown hair, moustache, beard, and whiskets, and dressed in black coat and waistcoat, mixture trousers, and black hat, of genteel appearance. Information to be given to Chief Constable Hilton, or Detective Inspector Feain, Derby, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- stteet, June 25. Absconded from Weston super- Mare, on the 21st instant, Refo BRIDGE, alias WILSON, 17 y^ ars of age, 4 feet 9 inches high, pale complexion, light brown hair, bloe eyes, small sharp nosej slender figure, scar on forehead and under left ear, and jaw has been broken, leaving large scars ; friends reside at 3 or 4.
