MONDAY, MAY 24, 1869. tfVBDER AND MALICIOUSLY WODNDIlia Further information respecting the dead body of a youth unknown, found in a reservoir at Blackburn, on the 26th ult., and advertised in the Police Gazeite of the 3rd instant : the body has been identified as that of John Shakeshaft, 17 years of age, son of John Shakeshaft, beerseller, Rosehill, Higher Aud ley- street, Blackburn. The deceased left home on the Z4th of October last, was seen in the township ot Mellor, Lancashire, next day, and was also Been in Blackburn about two weeks afterwards, hut not beard of since uniil the body was found. It is suspected that he came to his death by violence. During the night of the 21st instant the Rectory at Harley, near Much Wenlock, was broken into, and the follow- ing property stolen : one pair of silver Sugar Tongs, marked * G.;' one silver Spoon, crest— horse's head ; one quart bottle of French Brandy, and one of Whisky ; and about 6lbs. of Soap, in small pieces ; the corks of the bottles are marked ' Stanly Crowther, Ironbridge ' Information to be given to Superintendent Caswell, County Police Office, Shrewsbury, or to Serjeant Bullock, Police Station, Much Wenlock.— Bow street, May 24. Description of three men who entered the house of Mr. Thomas Webb, at Bengeo, at l- 30 on the 17rh instant, by means clothes, pair of old stockings, an old dark jacket, and an old moleskin vest were left behind. Information ro be given at the Super- intendent's Office, Holywell, Flintshire.— fiow- sireet. May 19. On the night of the 12th inHtant the Vicarage House at Hartpuny, the residence of he Rev. W. G. S. On the 7th instant, at Eton, Bucks, REGINALD TEMPLE STRANGE CLARE GRANVILLE MURRAY forged a Cheque on tbe Bauk of York, purporting to be the cheque of Sir Edward Sherlock Gooch, Baronet, with intent to defraud one Robert Tolladay, boat builder, Eton, Bucks. Murray is about 27 or 28 years of age, 6 feet 8 inches high, full face, fresh colour, dark curly hair, small whiskers and lather red moustache, of gentlemmly appearance and address ; dress, dark blue and light overcoat. Gave his card as ' Sir Edward Sherlock Gooch, Bart., Benacre Hall, Wrentham.' Information to be given to Superintendent Dunham, Slouch, Bucks, or to Inspector Pearman, Eton College, Bucks who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— bow- street, May 14. GEORGE RICHARD SMITH, late of No 41, Whiskin- street, St. John- Street- road, clerk, about 20 years of age, 6 leet 7 inches high, dark hair and eyes, slight build, small dark moustache, light straggling whiskers, sallow complexion, and mole on the cheek. Stolen from the person of a gentleman at. the Lancashire md Yorkshire Railway Station. Bolton about 910 p. m. on f 9th instant, a gold lever Watch. No 4146. E.' and another letter. 1 silver Punch L^ dle. 1 pair silver Sugar Tones. 1 pair plated Table Spoons, with embossed handles. 6 Dessert ditto. 6 Tea ditto. 1 plated Cruet Stind. 4 Glasses, with silver tops. 1 pair of plated Salts on four legs. 1 plated Sugar Basket. 1 Silt Spoon. 1 Mustard Spoon. 1 silver Butter K ife, pearl handle. 1 pair of silver Nutcrackers. 1 Scent Bottle, with silver top. 1 grey Overcoat, with velvet collar. 1 dark green silk Umbrella, Vix's patent, with coloured cane handle. 1 lady's long black silk Jacket. 1 red and browo Carpet Bag, with blue striped lining, stained with wine. Two other houses were entered on the same day, and the following property stolen : On the 15th instant, the dwelling- house of Mrs. Kemp, Shipbourne, Kent, was broken into, and the following articles stolen therein : two blue Shirts ; a calico Sheet; a cotton Shift; a pair of man's lace up Boots ; a black handled Razor ; a pocket Knife; and a cloths Brush. Between 11 p. m. on the 21st, and 6 a. m. cn the 22nd inst. the residence of William Lee, Esq, M. P., Snodland, Kent, was burgl* riously entered and the following articles stolen therein: six Dessert Spoons, Nickel plate; six Tab e Spoons, ditto; a p aied Inkstand, 4 <> r 5 inches long, with two red Buttles, plated tops; a pair of Opera Glasses in morocco case, by Hurrow9, of Malvern ; a small red Telescope, a large old- fashioued gold Seal, marked ' W. L.' on seal or a bear with chain round b idy on side of seal, or may be marked with both; a long Musical Box, with a list of tunes on a card Between 7 30 p. m. 15th and 10 a. m. on the 17th instant, the dwelling- house ot Miss Maning. Ash Magna, parish of Whitchurch, Salop, was broken into during the absence of the family, and the following property stolen therein : » black cloth ribbed Overcoat, black velvet collar, pockets outside in skirts; a dark tweed Overcoat, double-' orensted, covered buttons, po'ikets behind ; a brown cloth Cape, brown velvet collar, covered buttons ; and two new white calico Shirts, linen fronts and wristbands. Between 2 and 5 a. m. on the 18th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Josiah Brett, of the Swan Inn, High- street, Holywell, was entered by means of taking a pane of glass out of one of the back windows, and the following property stoleu out of Mr. Brett's bedroom whilst be was in bed : a Cashhox, containing a £ 50 Bmk of England Note, No. 14050, £ 7 iu Stiver, and £ 3 in Gold ; a drab Jacket, with two pockets ou'side and one inside, drab hone buttons; a light- coloured striped Vest ; a pair of light tweed Trousers, stripes down the sides; a silver Geneva Watch ; and a gold Albert Chain. A HORS1 ATO CATTLE STEALING. On the 6th instant, a grey Mare and Gig were hired of Mr. Evans, stablekeeper, St James'- street. Brighton: the mare is marked with two letters on one shoulder, and had a silver plated harness; the gig is painted greeu, wheels picked out with light green: were last seen a' Broadwater, near Worthing, Sussex, ttie same day about 2 30 pm, and have not since been heard of ; it is supposed they have been disposed of. The man who hired them is about 26 years of age, about 5 feet 2 inches high, light complexion light brown hair, small whiskers, slight moustache, and respectably dre- sed. Found at Shenstone, on the 18th instant, and eupposed to have been stolen, a black horse Pony, about 13 Uauda high, a white spot ou torehead, short mine, switch tail, and in good condition. Also a joung Asa, light coloured, and very long rough hair. Information to he given to Superintendent Orwell, Burton- on- Trent, or to Sergeaut Bason, Stienatone, Staffordshire.— Boio- street, May 21. Stolen early on the morning of the 14th instant, from a meadow at Ightham. Kent, the property ot En ward Gibbons, a light bay Mare, 7 yeais old 16 hands high, star on forehead, has a scar on insioe <> f near foreleg ; and a light giey Gelding, 10 years old, about 16 hands high, two or three small warts under belly, and one under the dock ; they are both light cart horses, in good ci nditlou, aud valua ile They were seen about 3 o'clock on the morning iu question, in the Pilgrim's road, Wrotham, going in the dueciiou ot London, each ridden by a man : one about 30 years of age, about 6 feet 7 inches high, stout build, tull face ; dressed IU dark clothes light- coloured neckerchief, and low- crowned hat: tne other about 27 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches hign ; dressed in dark clothes and low- crowned hat. Stolen from Langleybury on the night of the 26th ultimo, a small brown rough Pony, the property of Lloyd Jones, Esq. Found at Colemere, Salop, on the 13th instant, and sup- posed to have been stolen, a bay cob M ire about 12 hauds high, white ttar on forehead, shod all round, in good conoition, and lame in knee of near fore leg. Information to be given to Sergeant Thomas, Police Station, Elltsmere, Salop.— Bou>- st., May 17. Found in the parish of North Stoneham, on Chandlers Ford Green, on the 30th ultimo, and supposed to have been stolen : a bay horse Pony, long mane and tail, about 13 hands high, about 3 years old. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Stannard, Hants Constabulary Station, Bitterne, or to Sergeant Fox, Bishop Stoke, Hants.— Bow- sireel, May 17. Found at LlansaintfFraid, Montgomeryshire, on the 26th nltimo, and supposed to have been stolen, a bay hackney Mare, aged, about 14 hands high, black mane and tail, black legs, shod all round, aud in low condition. Stolen during the r ight of the 12th instant, from a field at Bromsgrove, a bay cob Horse, about 6 years old, 14 hands 3 inches high, with " black points, white speck in near eye, has several scars on hips and rump, recently blistered on near hock, and tail cut short. Information to be given to Superintendent Sevan, Bromsgrove.— Bow- street, May 17. Stolen on the night, of the 14th instant, from Nat's Farm, parish of Kingsdown, Kent, the property ot Thomas Wigley, a black cart Mare, 15 hands high, 9 or 10 years old, white star on forehead, hoth hind fetlocks white, broken winded, is iu good condition, and has lost the sight of the left eye. Also, stolen from the stable a silver plated light cart Har- ness, rather old, supposed by a man 23 years ot age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion, and no whiskers ; dressed in a dark coat and trousers, fitting tight to the leg, and low- crowned black hat. May 17. with embezzling money belonging to his employers: JOHN NAISBITT, a clerk, about 30 years of age, 6 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexion aud eyes, straight dark hair, Blender figure, and is supposed to have lost a front tooth ; dressed, when he absconded, i dark cloih coat aud vest, light grey cloth trousers, and billycock hat. Absconded on the 19th instant, from No, 12, Penton- place, Walworth, embezzling £ 3 : ay>' Uih, 16 years ot age, stout; dressed in black jacket and trousers. and cap with peak. Absconded on the 18th instant, from No. 6, Colville- place, Charlotte- street, stealing a new shoi coloured alpaca Dress, trimmed with moiie ; a paii of lady's kid Boots; and three half Crowns. A woman, 45 years ot age, 5 teet 1 inch high, dark complexion, hair turning grey, pitted with smallpox ; dressed in light cotton dress, lack shawl and bonnet.
