Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the pur- pose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may tie » r the Mltiualore of the persoa requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to Mr. W. D. BURNABY, the Editor, Police Court, Bow- street, London, W. C. V Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre hended, and the name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As HO charge is made for the insertion of any article in the t'OLICE GAZETTE, ill letters addressed to the Editor most be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from tbe regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War 0ffie2, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING About 7' 30 p. m. on the 2nd instant, in St. George's- street East, a Greek sailor, named Nicolas John Camburis, was beaten, and died from the injuries then inflicted on him. A coroner's jury have returned a verdict of * Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown.' Description of the man who, it is alleged, killed the deceased : 30 years of age, 6 feet 5 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, whiskers, and moustache, inclined to sandy, very fat neck, and is supposed to be an liisli American ; dressed in round black hat, short dark coat, and light trousers. £ 100 reward will be paid by Her Majesty's Government to any person who will give such information as bhall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the guilty person or persuns. Information to be given at the Detective Office, Great Scotland yard, or at auy Metropolitan Police Station.— Metropolitan Police, April 26. On the 12th instant, the body of a newly- bom male child was found in an ashpit in Rose- street, Manningham, Bradford, wrapped in a piece of old dre^ s lining and violet coloured stuff. At the inquest a verdict of ' Wilful murder' was returned against some person or persons unknown. Information to be given to Cbief Constable Grauhan, Central Police Office, Bradford, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, April 23. About mid- day on the 14th inst., the dead body of a newly- born male Child was found in a gorse bush on Malvern Link Common ; the body was wrapped in two copies of the • Standard' newspaper and some pieces of black stuff, which had evidently formed part of a female's dress. At an inquest Also stolen at the same place, from the person of John Fowl, whilst in a booth on the race course: a silver verge. Watch, maker Ann Crosfield, Hartshill, N... 1817. Information to be given to Superintendent Wright, East Riding Constabulary, Leven, Yorkshire.— How- street, April IS. Jane Hughes, while travelling from Llanrhadar to Guils- field, was robbed within half a mile of Bwlchychan, of a pound of loaf Sugar, a \ lb. of Tea, two ounces of Tobacco, and a Shilling. By a man and woman tramps. The man is short and stout, woie an old fustian round jacket, much torn, had no stockings, is supposed to be a Welshman. The woman is stout, and wore a light striped cotton dress ; she was also without stockings, and wore an old handkerchief over her bonnet, all her clothes were much worn. Stolen from the person of gentlemen on the Eastbourne race course, on the 19th instant: a silver open face Watch, with cracked glass; supposed by a boy about 16 years of age, and dressed in dark clothes and cap ; a silver single- case lever Watch; and a single- case Watch, supposed No. 1114. Infor- mation to be given to Superintended Waghorn, Police Station, Hailsham, Sussex.— Bow- street, April 23. Stolen on the 31st ult. in simmons- street, Blackburn, from the person of Mr Richard O'Bryan, of New Park- street, a patent lever silver Watch, maker Edward Comberbach,' on the works. No. 1156, white dial, gold hands, large one broken, steel sunk seconds, the ring broken • ff. By a woman and two men ; the woman is in custody and awaiting trial at the next Preston Sessions. MARY WILLIAMS, alias LEE, 40 years of age, 5 feet high, stout, broad face, swarthy complexion, dark brown hair, ' J. M.' and a rose marked on right arm, three scars over right eye, is a native of the county of Durham, was con- victed of robbery at York from Scarborough about fourteen years ago, stated that she bad been at Sunderland and Darling- ton. Stolen from the person at the South Essex Steeple Chase on the 16th instant : a gold Geneva Watch, No. 1133, maker Wm. Steward. A warrant has been issued for WILLIAM DAVIES, who is charged with cutting and wounding Evan Williams, at Neath, on the 9th instant: he is about 25 years of age, about 5 feet 7£ inches high, brown hair, grey eyes, light complexion, long thin face and nose, small moustache, has a black eye, and of smart appearance ; generally dressed in a monkey jacket, grey trousers, and deerstalker hat ; he is a blacksmith, is much addicted to smoking, has been to Australia, and it is supposed - Bow- street, April 16. Stolen from the person of Mr. J. Wyllie, on the 10th instant, at the Bishop Stortford Steeple Chases : a gold keyless lever hunting Watch, with compensation balance, maker Dent, No. 28635. £ 10 reward will be paid by Mr. J. Wyllie on recovery of the Watch, and conviction of the offender or offenders. On the 11th instant, the body of a male child, about 2 months old, was discovered in New Pool, in the parish of Hanley Castle. Round the body of the child when found was a flannel bandage, a child's calico shirt, with a small button on one shoulder, and a towel pinned over all: at an inquest held on the body, on the 13th instant, from the mediw. l Bishop Stortford, Herts.— Bow- street, April 16. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Further information respecting the housebreaking at Welshampton, on the 6th instant, and advertised in the Police testimony, it appeared that the child had been in the water' Gazette on the 9th and following dates: the silver watch only a few days, and that death was caused from immersion in Guard stolen has been recovered at Wellington, having been the water; the jury returned a verdict of Wilful Murder sold the day after the robbery. Stolen from the person on the 12th instant, at Ore Steeple Chase: a gold Watch, No. 17691, single bottom, open face, and ' A. N.' on the back. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes, or to Superintendent Jeffery, Guestling, Hastings, Sussex.— Bow street, April 26. Stolen from the person of Ann Capes, whilst on the course at the Brandsburton Steeple Chase, held on the 21st instant: a green leather portemonnaie clasp Purse, containing a pair of small gold Ear- tings and a Sovereign. During the night of the 20th instant the dwelling- house of Frederick Eggar. Esquire, of Aldershot, was broken into and the following property stolen : a brown cloth Overcoat with brown velvet collar and buttons to match, lined with silk, two long pockets inside the skirts, two breast pockets, one out- sice and one inside ; a rough black cloth Overcoat with velvet collar, two breast pockets, one outside and one inside ; a thick soft black cloth loose Coat bound wnh black braid; a thick black cloth Coat ( boy's siz-), with pockets in the skirts ; a pair of elastic- side boots with patent leather fronts and kid backs, maker's name inside, ' Hall, Waterloo Road ;' a pair of thick lace up Boots, tips on the heels. Inrormation to be given to Superintendent Troke. Hants Constabulary. Odiham, or to Sergeant Scott, Aldersbot.— Bow- street, April 26. During the night o* the 21st instant, tbe house, office, and chambers of Mr. Whiffen. grocer, of Church- street, Cardiff, were broken and entered, the doors, desks, and till were forced, apparently by a chisel or jemmy, the iron chest in the shop was broken, bnt not forced open. Supposed by a man apparently about 6 feet 9 or 1C inches high, and has rather small feet; a jemmy and a small chisel were left on the premises; about 4os. worth of Postage Stamps were carried away, and 5s. in Coppers Information to be given to Super- intendent Stockdale, Cardiff, Glamorganshire.— Bow- street April 23. Between 10 p. m. 16 h and 7 a. m. on the 17th instant, the dwelling- house of Robert Knowles, Congresbury, Somerset, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : five silver Tea Spoons, two silver Table Spoons, a silver Gravy Spoon, marked ' R. A. K.;' five silver Tea Spoons marked • M. C.;' a silver Table Spoon, marked • S. A. C.' Information to be given to Superintendent Gillbanks, County Constabulary Office, Ax- bridge, Somersetshire.— Bow- s reet, April 23. Between 12 30 and 6 a. m on the 20th instant the dwel- ling- house of Johu Baker, of Small wood, was broken into and entered by thieves, and the following articles stolen therein: a black cloth Coat with black velvet collar, two pockets in the skirts behind and one outside the left breast ; a blue tweed Shooting Jacket, with five pockets outside and two inside the skirts ; a blue Vest, a dark mixture cloth Jacket, three pockets outside and one in left breast; a black Scarf Shawl with fringe, a spotted Shawl with worsted fringe, a pair of old blucher Boots wi- h a patch o;. the left toe. Information to be given to Superintendent Roubottom, Constabulary Station, Middlewich, Cheshire.— Bom- street, April 21. Between 9 a. m. and 4 p. m. on the 17th instant, the dwelling- house of John Jeffeary, of Burton, near Aylesbury, was broken aud entered, and the following property stolen therein : a black cloth Jacket, Vest, and Trousers ; a pair of Wellington Boots, tips on fuels, and strongly nailed round the soles; two white calico Shirts, a gold wedding Ring, much worn, and has been repaired ; a pair cased silver verge Watch, with steel Chain, a common Seal, and two Keys attacned. By a man, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, sandy whiskers, and short beard ; diessed in the stolen ciothes and dirty old cloth cap. Information to be given to Superintendent Denson, Police Office, Aylesbury.— Bow- street, Ap- il 21. During the night of the 17th instant the dwelling- house of the Reverend Alfred Baldwin, of Tonge, was broken into, and the following properly stolen : a small French Timepiece in ebony frame; a pair of tall plated Candlesticks and Tray ; a pair of steel Snuffers ; a blue cloth Cloak ; and a table Clo: b, white ground with red flowers in centre. Between the hours of 9 p. m. on the 15th and 6 a. m. on the 16th instant, the dwelling- house of Hannah Riley, of Bosley, near Macclesfield, Cheshire, was burglariously broken and entered, aud the following property stolen therein, viz.: 1 pair of men's new blucher Boots large size, with five lace- holes on each side ; 1 pair of lace- up Boots, newly soled ; 1 round cord Jacket ; 1 new calico Shirt; and 1 Ditto, part worn Inforniaiau to be gi'- en to Superintendent Williamson, County Constabulary Office, Macclesfield. — Bow- street, April 19. Stolen by means of housebreaking between 9 a. m. and 12 noon on the 17th inst., the property of John Fletcher, Lilleshall, Salop : a suit of black cloth Clothes, Coat with two outside pockets, and one inside lefr, breast ; a reddish mixture cloth Coat, two outside and one inside pockets ; a reddish mixture cloth Waistcoat ; a grey Scotch tweed cloth Waistcoat, with yellowish lining ; a pair ot Trousers, brown and light stripes a silk Scarf, black ground- wirh blue satin stripes ; a woollen Muffler, blue ground wi/ a stagts heads printed all over it; a woollen Shirt, red atid black striped, lined across shoulders with white calico ; a silk Poeket- H « ndkerchief, initials * J. F.' in one corner, sewel with w hite silk ; a fancy Petticoat, with stripes round the bottom. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Richardson, or to Sergeant Christie, Newport, Salop.— Bow- sireel, April 19. During the night ot the 15th instant the dwelling- house of the Rev. B. spurrell was bioken and entered, and the following property stolen therein : a chased gold Thimble ; a silver oval Inkstand, on four feet, with the inscription, ' Presented to Rev. B. Spurrell, with a Purse and 80 Guineas, by the Congregation of St. Phillip's Church, Birmingham, on his leaving the Curacy « f ' hat town, 1844 ;' two Tops of ink bottles, a small Fruit Knife am Fork, a Snuff box, two Salts and Spoons, a Pepper- box, a Mustard- pot, barrel pattern, all 26 P O L I C E GAZETTE. March 29. silver ; a gold Pen, with amber handle; a large black cloth Cloak, with large horn buttous ; aud a lady's small alpaca Umbrella, with light cane handle. Supposed by two men, who were seen about the rectory the san e evening : one is about 33 years of age, 6 feet 11 inches high, with dark bushy whiskers, thin tace, and wore a hard billycock hat ; the other is about 30 years ot age, 6 feet 6 or 7 inches high, brown tuft of bair ou chin, and wore dark clothes and dark soft billycock hat; the tallest carried a brown paper parcel, supposed to contain housebreaking implements. They are supposed to be the same two men who entered the rectory at Floore, North- amptonshire, on the I4' h instant. Two men answering the description have been traced to Oxford, where they pawned a pair of block Trousers and Vest, two silver watches, and a pair of Boots. They left by i he third class train for Manchester on the morning of ihe 17' h instant. Information to be given to Superintendent Bolton, Hanmer, Flintshire.— How street, April 26 Stolen fmm a yard at Ashtead on the 20th instant, the property of Mr. John Agate, a bright bay Mare, 16hauds 1 inch high, with bUck legs, except a very little white on one hind foot, a little white star on forehead ; she has a scar from a wound on the off foreleg above the knee, and is 5 years old. Whoever will give such information as shall lead to the reco- very of the Mare, and apprehension of the offenders, will be liberally rewarded on application to Mr. Agate, Ashtead, Surrey.— B m- street, April 26. Stolen on the night of the 21st instant, from a farmyard in the parish ot Wilmington, Kent, a dark brown mare Pony, 12 hands high. 8 years old, has a few white spots on back, scar on one knee, long mane and tail, near hind shoe off. and in good conditiou, the prep rty of Mr. Groombridge. Two men were seen near the laru. yard at 8 o'el ck ou the same night, one about 30 yea> s ot nge, daik complexion ; dressed in dark coat, light cord irouseis. and low crown hat. The other about 26 years of age. and 5 feet 8 inches high ; dressed in dark coat, light trousers, low crown hat, and wore a scarf with daik stripes. Stolen f om a field at Aberaman. near Aberdare, on the night of the 17' ti instant, a grey mare Pony, about 5 years old, from 9 to 10 bands high, loua mane and tail, and in rather low condition, the property of Mr. John Hord, Aberdare. Stolen from a field at Gellyfailog, Dowlais, between 6 a. m. on the 19th ins ant and 6 a. ui on the 20th instant, a brown mare Pony, 4 years old, 10J hands high, mane and tail nearly same colour as b.. dy, has no * hite marks, is in good condition and quiet to ride the property of Moses Thomas, Pontlottyn. Description of a mnn who engaged a Horse and Trap, for one hour and a half, at 3 p. m. on the 12th i; stant, at Hudders- field, and has not since been heard ot: about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, small black whiskers, ai d rather small features ; dressed in a black cloth suit, aod black silk hat. Horse 16 hands high, aged, round shod on one foot, near side fore toot. Trap, green dog cart, blue lining and cushions, spindle sides, and <• Id set of Harness. Description of seven ewe Sheep and two Lambs, foUEd at Pawlett, Somerset, on the 25th ult. : five knot ewes and two horned ewes, with two lambs. Information to be given to Superintendent Jeffs, North Petherton, Somersetshire.— Bow- street, April 21. Norfolk.— Bow street, April 26. EDWARD LACEY, late of Keighley, solicitor's clerk, is charged with embezzlement : he is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, biown hair, blind of one eye, and wears a green silk shade over it, has a Blight im- pediment in his specch, and generally laughs when speaking ; he dresses well, and is of smart appearance. Information to be given to Superintendent Gill, West Riding Constabulary, Keighley, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bo no- street, April 23. A wan ant has been issued against EDWARD HARROLD, a labourer, late ot Brighton, chaig> d with embezzling various sums of Money ot James Hards, of 29, Clifton- hill, Brighton: he is about 18 years of age, tail and thin, very thin pale face, dark brown hair, no whiskers, and thick prominent lips ; generally dressed in a dark jacket, white slop uuderneath, aod black ielt hat. Information to be given to Chief Constable White, Town Hall, Brighton.— Burr- sireet, April 23. Stolen from a tailor's 6hop in King- street, Blackburn, on the 16th instant, a pair of tailor's Shears, the property of Edward Patrick Fitzgerald. By a man, who sold the shears in Belton on the 17th instant, and gave the name ot FREDE- RICK WILLIAMS, supposed to be fictitious, about 65 years of age, 6 feet 2 inches high, stout make, light sandy hair, red blotched face, rather large nose, and no whiskeis; dressed in a short faded black coat, old gieasy dark cloth troupers, old silk hat, and shoes ; appears to be a tramping tailor, and may be found at club houses and tramp's lodging houses.
