Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hmided, and the name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of ifche offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to tbe Editor for insertion. W.," as they cannot be published without his • authority. INFORMATIONS. dark stripe down the Bide, side- spring boots, white or flannel shirt, and narrow necktie. He has a silver watch and two guard chains, one a heavy gold or gilt albert with appendages, the otber a hair chain with gold or gilt mountings ; wears a masonic ring, and has gold masonic shirt studs, and a hand- some malacca cune, with a dog's head carved in ivory and silver mountings. He took away with him upwards of £ 200, and is likely to be free with his money. It is supposed he will leave tbe country. He was seen in London on the 19th inst,, when he called at a police clothing depot to change a cheque for £ 40 ; he was then wearing an old shabby overcoat, dark trousers, black hat, shabby appearance. Information to be given to the Chief Constable for East Suffolk, Earl Soham, Wickham Market, who offors a reward of £ 20 for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, January 25. aSSJRDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. On the 10th instant, the dead body of a male child, about 6 months old, and quite naked, was found in a ditch of water, eighteen inches deep, in a field about 40 yards from the, [ turnpike- road leading from Thornbury to Gloucester, there are no external marks of violence on the bjdy, other tllsn slight bruises on the right side of the forehead, it was not decomposed, and could not have been dead more than two or three days : the child is well made and fat, has two front teeth in the lower jiw, very little hair ( rather sandy), blue eyes, and had been vaccinated. It is supposed to have been brought some distance. A verdict of 1 Wilful Murder ' against some person or persons unknown has been returned at the coroner's inquest. Information to be given to Superintendent Ellison, Chipping Sodbury, or to Sergeant Arthur, Police Office, Thornbury, Gloucestershire.— Bow- street, January 25. The body of a newly- born male child was picked up at sea on the 17th instant, about 600 yards S. W. of St. Catherine's Island: the body was sewn up in a piece of black satin, the skull was fractured ( before death), and a punctured wound had been inflicted on the chest, which had not penetrated its cavity, no medical aid had apparently been had at the birth. It appears to have been in the water from 40 to 48 hours. A verdict of ' Wilful Murder' has been returned. Information to be given to Chief Constable Thomas, Tenby, Pembrokeshire. — Bow- street, January 26. Further information respecting WILLIAM RICHARDS, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 2nd ultimo, charged with the murder of Joseph Butler, one of Lord Lisburne's gamekeepers, on the morning of the 28th November last, and for whose apprehension a reward of £ 100 is offered : he is still at large, and it is supposed that he will endeavour to get a passage to America, and to be now in the neighbourhood of London. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Aberayron, Caidigaushire.— Bow- street, January 20. Description of SARAH CRAWFORD, a widow, who is charged on a coroner's warrant with the murder of her illegitimate child, by drowning it in a lodge of water at Great Leven, on the 28th ultimo : she is about 24 years of age, but appears much youDger, about 5 feet high, fresh complexion, blue eyes, light brown hair, lost one of her lower front teeth, and has a scar on the back of ber right hand ; dressed when last seen in a black straw bonnet, trimmed with blue ribbon, drrk brown winsey dress, and paisley shawl. She is a winder ^ a cotton mill, but has been in service in Manchester, Liver- pool, Bury. Lei da, Normanton, and London ; is a native of Barnsley, Yorkshire, where ber father resides, she has also a sister residing at Brompton, near Northallerton, Yorkshire. • Information to be given to Colonel Bruce, to Chief Constable Preston, or to Superintendent Scott, Town Hall, Little Bolton Lancashire.— Bow- street, January 18. Stolen by a woman, from the person of a drover at Limpeter Fair, oil the night of the 11th instant, £ 15 in Gold, and ten £ 5 Bank of England Notes, NOB. supposed to be from 65017 to 65066 inclusive. Between 6 and 10 pra. on the 21st instant, ( he Castle Hotel, Tranmere, was broken and entered, and stolen from a chest ot drawers: 60 Sovereigns and about 60s. in Silver. 1 gold signet Ring, figure of stag's head on cornelian 6tone iu sliape of a shield. 1 gold diamond mourning Ring, set in shape of a star. 1 set of gold Ear- rings, sut with rubies. 1 plain ditto. 1 gold keeper Ring. 1 plated Brooch, set wilh coral. Information to be given to Superintendent Hammond, County Police, Abbey- street, Birkenhead.— Bow- street, January 25. BURGLARY AND HOUEE BREAKING. Stolen from a dwelling- house in the borough of Glossop, during the night of the 26th instant, by housebreaking : an old silver verge Watch, No 9( 535, outer case indented ; a black stuff scarf Shaw), with black silk fringe ; a shepherd's plaid single Shawl, small pattern; a pair of cotton cord Trousers, patched in front and at the bottom of the legs; a pair of women's Clogs, nearly new ; a loaf of Bread ; and 1 lb. of Bacon. Information to be given to Head Constable Kershaw, Borough Police Office, Glossop, Derbyshire. — Bow- strect, January 29. FORGERY. Absconded, EDWARD THOMAS FITZGERALD, late clerk to the Chief Constable of the Eastern Division of the county of Suffolk, and lately residing at Eail Soham, who is charged upon a warrant with Forgery : he is 26 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, but looks shorter, slight make, fair com- plexion, rather pale, auburn hair artificially coloured a light brown, very thin brown whiskers round his chin, blue eyes, has a peculiar twitch of the mouth, keeps his left hand in his trousers pocket, smokes a meerschaum pipe, is in- toed, and keeps his eyes on the ground when walking ; lie is a member of a masonic lodge, and has taken a masonic apron in his portmanteau, which also contains a suit of black, the breast of the frock coat faced with silk ; by trade an engraver and gun- maker ; supposed to be wearing a fashionable black and white mixture morniDg coat and waistcoat, light brown trousers with The Frenchman suspected of committing the burglary at Bangor, Flintshire, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 25th instant, has been apprehended.— Bow- street, January 29. During the night of the 25th instant, the office of Mr. Henry Ackerley, solicitor, King- street, Wigan, was broken and entered, and stolen from a drawer which appeared to have been forced open with a flat instrument: a £ 6 Bank of England Note, marked ' V. | P., 67657, 1868, May 1st. Liverpool ;' a £ 20 ditto, marked ' V. | O., 10452, 1868. January 9th, Man- chester ;' a £ 60 ditto, marked ' V. | A.. 45561, 1808, January 10th, Manchester;' £ 36 fcs. 9d. in Gold, Silver and Coppers ; and some Postage Stamps. A reward of £ 10 will be paid to any person giving such information as shall lead to the appre- hension and conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the property, or in proportion to the amount recovered. Information to be given to Chief Constable Simm, Wigan.— Bow- street, January 29. Between 3 and 6 p . m. on the 24th instant, the dwelling- house of Robert Swale Alefounder, Esq., situate in Tanners lane, in the parish of St. Peter, Ipswich, was broken and entered, and about £ 80 in Gold and Silver; a £\ 0 Note, of Bacon and Co.' s Bank, Ipswich ; also two £ 6 Notes, of Alexander and Co.' s Bank, Ipswich, the number of one of which is I. 848 ; were 6tolen therein. Information to be given to Head Constable Mason, Town Hall, Ipswich.— Bow street, January 29. During the night of the 22nd instant, the dwelling- house of George Thorley, farmer, of Lower Withington, near Macclesfield, was broken and entered, and stolen therein: a silver lever Watch, silver Guard and steel Chaiu attached, No, 6492; a single barelled Gun ; a suit of boy's Clothes, grey mixture ; a boy's calico Shirt, with linen front and wristbands, marked ' H. T.' on the lap ; a Ham, green ; and two pieces of Bacon. Information to be given to Superintendent Williamson County Constabulary Office, Macclesfield.— Bow- street, Jan. DuriDg the night of the 20th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. A. Bingham, of Ware, was broken and entered, aud stolen therein : 1 plated round ornamental Bread Basket, a ditto Teapot, a ditto Sugar Basin, a ditto Fish Knife and Fork, all marked ' A. M. B.' 9 large plated Forks, and 10 do. small, 15 do. Dessert Spoons, marked ' A. M. B.' Supposed by three men, one about 6 feet 7 inches high, and the others about 6 feet 4 inches high, and dressed in dark clothes. Between 6 and 8 p. m. on the 24th inBtant, the dwelling- house of Mr. John Cartwright, of Oadby, near Leicester, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therein : 1 old- fashioned silver Watch, with 4 J. N. Cartwright' around the face instead of figures. 2 silver Table Spoons, marked ' M. H.' 6 Tea Spoons and 4 Salt ditto, silver, and marked' H.' 1 Salt Spoon and 1 Mustard ditto, silver, and marked • C.' 1 silver Caddy Spoon, marked 1 H.' 3 small silver Tea Spoons, marked ' H. A reward of £ 5 will be paid by the Oadby Association for the Prosecution of Felons, aud £ 5 by Mr. Cartwright, on conviction of the offender or offenders. Between 11 a. m. and 12 noon on the 22nd instant, the cottage of Mr. William Sutton, of Norton, in the parish of Bromyard, was broken and entered and stolen therein : £ 18 in Gold ; £ 3 in Silver ; a gold Brooch, with the likeness of a boy on one side, and the other Faith, Hope and Charity ; three silver Watches, one maker William Nadauld, London, No. 8097, one maker Hawley, London, No. 19, one hunter, maker Harris, Bromyard, No 14699 ; a flannel under Shirt ; and a bottle of Wine. Supposed by two men of the following description : one about 30 to 36 years of age, abont 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dark hair, whiskers closely shaved off, and dark complexion ; dressed in cord or moleskin trousers, dark jacket, supposed to be wealing a dark cap, but has been wearing a light brown bowler hat, nairow brimmed, which has since been found in a quarry. The other is about 5 feet 6 or 6 inches high, thin white face, and sandy whiskers under the chin ; dressed in dark trousers, drab Bath cloth coat, black bowler hat, and good well nailed neat shoes. £ 5 reward will be given by Mr. Sutton, on conviction of the offender or offenders. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Harwood, Bromyard, Herefordshire.- Bow- street, January 27. 1 silver Cruet Stand and the silver Tops of the Cruets. 6 silver Mugs, one marked in full ' Percy Bingham, a Gift fiom his Godfather, Alfred Fulcher.' 16 silver Spoons, eight Tea, four Egg, two Salt, one . Mustard, all marked ' B.' Between 10 a. m. and 5 p. m. on the 31st ult. the dwelling- house of William Gurley, at Packwood, in the county of Warwick, was broken and entered, and the following articles were stolen therein; a grey Top Coat with velvet collar; a black cloth Jacket, and about £ 6 in gold and silver Coin. Supposed by a respectably- dressed man, in brown jacket and trousers, and billycock hat., about 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, and has a mark on the neck below the left ear. Information to be given to Inspector Harris, Henley- in- Arden.— Bow- street, January 27. Absconded from Downham, Essex, on the 20th instant, charged with breaking and entering the dwelling- house of Mr. Richardson, at the same place: WILLIAM MOTT, 28 years of age, 6 feet 6 or 6 inches high, fair complexion, whiskers round the chin, rather large features, and dressed in a black cloth coat, double- breasted ditto waistcoat, old slop worn inside, yellow striped cotton shirt, cord trousers, with patch on one knee, all old and dirty, nearly new lace- up boots. He went to London, but is supposed to have returned to the country, and is likely to seek employment where there is a thrashing machine. Information to be given to Sergeant Hawtree, Rayleigh, Essex, who holds a warraut for his apprehension.— Bow- street, January 26. Between 2 and 8 a. m. on the 23rd instant, the dwelling house of C. L. Bolckow, Esq., of Marton, near Middlesborough, was entered, and the following property stolen therein : a black marble Timepiece, stripes of greea serpentine, French make, with balance on top of dial, the letters ' F.' and ' S.' written on each side of balance in ink over the original French letters ; a blue pilot cloth Overcoat, black velvet collar, lined inside with black and white check, double- breasted, with six black silk buttons, two pockets outside, right hand one having a smaller one inside, breast pocket inside; a brown single- breasted Overcoat, black velvet collar and breast, three black silk buttons, the top one rather torn , six meerschaum Pipes, two short ones in cases, one burnt down, two silver- mounted 33 P O L I C E GAZETTE. Stolen by means of housebreaking, at Bangor, Flintshire between I and 7 15 a. m. on the 19th instant: two £ 6 Bank of England No'es ; £ 4 in Gold ; 20s in Silver ; a small silver end < y Sp . on, shell shape, with crest— hand and dagger ; a small golcl Seal in foim ot a bird holding the seal, crest— haud and dagger; a small silver Funnel or Wine Strainer, ' B.' cut near the top on outside, wete stolen therein. Supposed by two men : one middle age, 5 teet 10 or 11 iuches high, long thin face, high cheek bones, light browu hair, uo whiskers, and gli ht moustache ; dressed in shabby datk clothes, and cap wifh French peak. He represents himself as a Frenchman unable to speak English, is in the habit ot calling at clergymen's and other gentlemen's houses, goiog to the front door, and produces an insciiption in English, wants to see the lady or gentleman to speak French, he represents himself as a discharged soldier from the French Army, trying to raise funds to get back to his own country, & c. The other is a shorter man, daik hair and whiskers ; dressed in dark clothes. He is supposed to be an Englishman, and generally waits in the distance while the Frenchman calls to beg. The child was iu a box, lined with blue paper, made of i inch beech, 9J in. by 16 in., and 9 in. deep, with ihin wire tor hinges and fasteners, from the lid of which there has beeu removed a card or paper label or direction, 84 in. by 6J in,, and another large green paper one with black letters has been washed from the back of the DOX. On the end of the box, in characters 2i in. long, is ' A. C.'
