Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the pur- pose of obtaining or giving nformation respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to Mr. W. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre heL'ved, and the name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As BO charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all JLetters addressed to the Editor mnst be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from tbe Militia, as well as those from tbe regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. Information to be given to Superintendent Burton, stapenhill, Derbyshire, or any Police Station, in the county of Derby.— Bow- sirect, July 22. Between 12 and 1 a. m. on the 21st instant, the toll gate house at Ellesmere, in the parish of Ellesmere, was broken and entered, and four Sixpences, one 3d Piece and 2s. Id. in Coppers, stolen therefrom, the property of Samuel Davies. Information to he given to Superintendent Gough, Oswestry, or to Sergeant Thomas, Ellesmere, Salop.— Bow- street, July 22. During the night of the 20th instant, the dwelling- house of John Bates at Bloxwich, near Walsall, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a pair of light made blucher Boots ; two pairs of grey worsted Stockiugs; a calico Shirt; a black cloth Cap, n- u. cb worn ; and a Penknife, with two blades, dark bone handle, and edged with brass. By a man of tbe follow- ing description, a miner by trade, 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, and saudy hair ; dressed in a dirty dark blue monkey jacket, green plaid vest, woollen cord trousers, and black billycock hat. Information to be giren to the Chief Constable, Walsall.— Bow- street, July 22, MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Further information respecting JAMES GIBSON, alias IRISH JEMMY, a collier, charged with manslaughter, at Barnsley, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 16th instant, and subsequent dates ; he has worked at Claycross, Whitting- ton, and Brampton, in Derbyshire, also at Bishop Auckland, and Spennymoor, in Durham. A reward of 20s. will be paid for his apprehension. Information to be given to Superintendent Sykes, Police Office, Barnsley, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, July 27, Found on the morning of the 24th instaat, in a wheat field at Bowdon, the dead body of a newly bom male child, wrapped up in an old piece of blanket, part of a woman's white calico night dress, a piece of the * Standard' newspaper, dated 9th June, and a piece of brown paper; an inquest has been held upon the body, and a verdict of wilful murder returned against some person or persons unknown. Information to be given to Superintendent Andrews, or to Inspector Aston, Altrincham, Cheshire.— Bow- street, July 27. Absconded from Hyde, Cheshire, en the 19th instant, charged with the manslaughter of John Riley : THOMAS MANNION, an Irish labourer, 24 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, pale or sallow complexion, light brown hair, small sandy whiskers, stout made, and has a ( fresh cut mark on his left cheek under the eye ; dressed in moleskin or cotton cord trousers, white linen slop, and cloth cap ; he had with him a blue pilot cloth jacket and vest, woollen cord trousers, and black billycock hat, it is suspected he will leave some seaport for Ireland or America. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Little, Hyde, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 22. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person in the borough of Faversham, on the night of the 21st instant, a £ 5 Bank of England Note, No. 13493, dated 14th May, 1808 Information to be given to Superintendent White, Police Office, Faversham.— Bow- street, July 24. BORSB AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen on the night of the- 14th instant, from a meadow on the World's End Farm, Wild- street, Mildenhall, the property of G. F. Robins, Esq., of Isleham, a valuable bro- vn cart Mare, 7 or 8 years old, blind of the off eye, one white foot behind, and star on forehead, full mane and tail, and was suck- ling a colt, which was left behind ; her b ig will be very large and cannot be got down under a fortnight. £ 15 reward will be paid by Mr. Robins on application and conviction of the otfender and recovery of the mare. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Glasier, Mildenhall Suffolk.— Boto- rlreet, July 27. Stolen from a field at Great Munden, Herts, on the night of the 23rd instant: a bay Cob, ahout 14$ hands high, six years old. has three white feet and a wart under the chest, in good condition. Iuformation to be given to Inspector Oliver, Rural Police, Buntingford, Herts.— Bow- street, July 27. Stolen from Bat and Ball Fair, in the parish of Chiddingly, on the 23rd instant, a light brown cob Horse, aged. 14 hands high, in low condition, broom tail, the hair rubbed off top of the wither, aud a slight scar on right knee. Information to be given to Sergeant Holder, Hailsham ; to the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes; or at any Police Station in East Sussex.— Bow- street, July 27. Stolen on the 24th instant, from Arundel, a bay Mare, 5 years old, 15 bands 3 inches high, white face, and hind legs white; also a Saddle, recently repaired, and a snaffle Bridle, nearly new. By a man, apparently a groom, 22 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, slight moustache, and dressed in a dark tweed coat, light trousers, black billycock hat, and lace- up hoots toe capped. Information to be given to Superintendent Linvell, Town Hall, Arundel, Sussex.— Bow- street, July 27. Stolen on the 21st instant, from Carburton- street, Fitzroy- to Superintendent Hedley, Police Station, Fenny Stratford Bucks.— Bow- street, July 22, Absconded from the borough of Ipswich on the 11th inst., charged with stealing a black Mare, Phaeton, and set of Harness, ness, the property ot Emma Guiver, hotel keeper, having pre- viously hired the same, a mau having the appearance of a clergyman, giving the name of the Rev. H. C. COLLIS, of St. Philip's Parsonage, Walworth, but whose real name is supposed to be OWEN H. SUFFOLK, and who was seen driving in the direction of Chelmsford : he is about 6 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 40 years ot age, thin, light com- plexion, hair rather inclined to red, and supposed dressed in black clothes, or a dark silk mixed suit, black wide- brimmed soft felt or high silk hat: had with him a little girl, appa- rently about 13 years of age. The mare is about 16 hands 2 iuches high, three white feet, one fore leg fired, and white mark on forehead. The phaeton is painted black, lined with green cloth, and has cane- vork round tne front seat. The harness is brass- mounted and nearly new. This man had with him two gold Watches, obtai ed on approval from Mr. King- ton, watchmaker aud j- wei r if Ipswich : one is a lady's gold English lever watcti, en d case, gold dial, no seconds, No. 35809, named Kingdon, 50 and 62, Tavern- street, Ipswich ; the other is a lady's gold Geneva lever watch, engraved case, gold dial, ten holes jewelled, no secoads, No. 25i( J9, name on dome H. H. Between 12 and 1 p m. on the 20th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Jas. Diaper, of Stowmarket, was broken and entered, and a japanned cash Box, containing about £ 40 in gold and silver, a promissory Note, for £ 2000, ditto for £ 260, ditto for £ 150. ditto for £ 50, diito for £ 20, six or eight Dock War- rants, several stamped Receipts from Messrs. Harvey and Hudson's Bank, a Note from a Mrs. Fison, containing Money, a Note from Mrs Diaper to her daughter Kate, a list of the a , es of the members of the late Lord Palmerston's Cabinet, and other Papers stolen therefrom ; supposed by A. McLACHLAN, who has absconded, he is 21 years of age, 6 feet 10 inches high, broad shouldered, small waist, slightly built, bushy brown hair, has a scar from a burn just under one ear, and a scar from a cut on his forehead ; dressed when last seen in a dark coat, bound with braid, dark finely striped trousers, black and grey, light vest, and black hat ; he is supposed to be in London, and will most likely try to emigrate to Australia, he has just returned from Canada. £ 5 reward will be paid for the apprehension and conviction of the offender. Information to be given to Inspector Freeman, Police Station, Stowmarket, Suffolk.— Bow- street, July 27. Between 10 and 12 a in. ou the 19th instant, the house of Mr. C. Palmer, of Calke, Derbyshire, was broken and entered, and the following articles stolen therein : a double barrelled Gun, with steel barrels, and percussion locks, maker John Wigan. Birmingham,, a small silver plate on the stock with the initials ' C. P. on it; a single barrelled Rifle, gauge 21, by the slate colour and the wheels red ; contained 36 trusses of Hay by a man, 30 years of age, 6 feet 8 inches high, sallow com- plexion, carroty whiskers ; dressed in black trousers, coloured shirt, no coat, billycock hat, and had the appearance of a groom.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, July 27. Stolen from a field near Tarporley, on ths 20th or 21st instant, a red and white Cow, half fat, thick in the body, and short legged, has had about four calves, the property of Mr. William Parkinson, No. 4, Lane- ends. Information to be given to Superintendent Gwynne, Tarporley, Cheshire.— Bow- street, July 24. Stolen from a field at West Malling, on the night of the 20th instant, a dark brown cart Mare, about 14 hands high, hair rubbed off shoulders, in low condition, the property of James Rayfield. Iuformation to be given to Superintendent Hulse, Kent Constabulary, West Mailing. — Bow- street, July 24. Found in the possession of an Irish harvestman, at Oakham, on the 13th iustant, supposed to have been stolen, a dark brown mare Donkey, with light coloured belly and muzz e, about 4 years old, has been clipped, the legs left rough, and without shoes, the man stated that he had brought it from Liverpool. Information to be given to Police Constable Rowland, Oakham, Rutland.— Boio- street, July 24. Stolen from a field near Darlaston Cemetery, on the night of the 8th instant, a dark br • > Mare, 6 years old, thorough- bred, 15 hands high, one white fetlock, small mark on fore- head, spavin on near hock, with blemish inside from blistering, the property of James Earp. Iuformation to be given to Sergeant Fanner, Police Station, Darlaston, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, July 24. Stolen from a field in Little Brickhill, on tie night of the 19th or morning of the 20th instant, a half bred teg Sheep, with smutty face, the field from wnich it was stolen is the boundary of Little Brickhill, Bow Brickhill, and Noburn, and adjacent to a wood ; four poachers with sticks and a lurcher fresh complexion, no whiskery, proportionately made ; dressed in dark brown jicket, old fustian trousers, and Scotch cap with peak and plaid band. Has been traced to Tunbridge Wells, and is supposed to be in some part of Kent. Information to be given to Superintendent Peacock. Uckfield, or any Police Station in East Sussex.— Bow- street, July 27. Stolen between the 12th aud 15th instant, from No. 32, Norland- road, Nottinghill, a quantity of old Coins, a silver Geneva Watch, open face, silver Guaid attached ; and a boy's suit of Clothes ( fancy cl > th trousers aud vest, and short black cloth jacket). By a German, 16 or 17 years of age, dark complexion, hair cut very short.— Metropolitan Police, X Divi- sion, July 27. Stolen on the 20th instant, from Chase Side, Enfield : a pair of lady's kid Boots, a white Cloak, a blue Bonnet, a white Petticoat. Rings; an old- fashioned silver Watch, maker Norton, Leeds, Kent, silver guard Chain attached ; two gold Seals and gold Key, one seal has a dove and olive leaf engraved on it, the other an owl ; and a d uhle gold Pin aud Chain. A man named JOSEPH HUTCHINS, is charged with committing the robbery, he was lodging at the house, aud absconded on the 18th instant, immediately after the robbery, he is 38 or 40 years of sge, 6 feet inches high, fair complexion, high forehead, sandy moustache, he turns his right eye when speaking, and has a scar between the elbow and wrist ; dressed when he absconded iu a short black cloth jacket, with pockets at the sides, pepper- and- salt coloured waistcoat, lighr plaid trousers, elastic- side boots, with four or five black pearl buttons in front. He stated that he was going to Brighton and Reading, and that his mother resides at Pimlico, London, and that he has worked in the Government Works, Pimlico, con- verting Enfield rifles into Snidrrs. He is a discharged soldier, and was Armourer Sergeant in the 6th Regiment of Carbineers. Information to be given to Head Constable Barnes, Borough Police, maidstone, who holds a wariaut for his apprehension. — Bow- street, July 24. Absconded on the 15th instant, from No. 32, Chapel- place, Liverpool- road, Islington, stealing £ 200 in Gold: a female, 24 years of sge, middle height, fair complexion, light hair, blue eyes ; supposed accompanied by si man, 34 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fair comp exion, light hair ; :> oth dressed respectably.— Metiopolian Police, Y Division, July 24. Stolen on the 17th inst., from No. 24, Hercules- buildings, a deal Box, 2 feet loug, covered with black leather, containing a black cloth Mantle trimmed with beads and braid, a black sealskin Jacket, a moire antique Dress, H light stuff ditto, a black silk Jacket, a Blanket, with red border, a child's magenta Frock, and some children's Underclothing, marked ' Hurst' in ink. By the servant, who has absconded : a native of Ireland, 30 years of age. 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, very thick lips, bad teeth, and had three moles or warts on left side of neck ; dressed in black alpaca dress trimmed with black silk at bottom, black cloth jacket, and blue velvet bonnet, trimmed with pink and white.— Metro- politan Police, L Division, July 24. Absconded from Yeovil, iu March last, charged with larceny : THOMAS HAYWARD, ai out31 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, dark ha'r and whiskers, sottish appearance, a watchmaker. Information to be given to Superintendent Smith, Yeovil, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Buv> tt, let, July 24. MARY FRY, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 10th instant, charged with larceny, & c , at Llanvaches, has been committed to Usk Gaol, for three months hard labour, she is a native of Taunton, Somerset ; her father's name is Blackmore, a tombstone cutter, residing in High- street, and her husband's Thomas Fry. who enlisted for a soldier since her marriage.— Bow- street, July 22. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Walsall, on the evening of the 18th instant, five Sovereigns. By a man representing himself to be an architect and land surveyor, requiring furnished lodgings, 23 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high ; dressed in a daik coat faced with hlack silk, dark bine plaid double- breasted waistcoat, and dark trousers, and had a massive gold chain attached to his w- dstcoat. Description of WILLIAM SUMNER, charged with felo- niously attempting to break a certain draining pipemaking machine, the property of Hannah Hitchen, on the 15th ultimo, at Wardle, in the county of Chester ; he is 21 years of age, 5 feet 8 inchis high, d; rk brown hair, light complexion, slightly fawn free led, and is a labourer; d; e ed in fustian cord trousers, whi'e slop and hlack cloth r ap. Information to be given to Superintendent Gwynne, or Sergeant Maylor, Tarporly, Cheshire who holds a warrant fo; his apprehension.— Bow- ttreet, July 24. I15J lANEO Missing from her home, since the 18t| i instants MARY ANNE ALLEN, ot Battle Bridge Farm, Mersham, 28 years of age, about 6 feet 4 inches high, stout, brown hair, and dark hazel eyes; dressed in a lilac check < ir ss, black alpaca jacket, and black net bonnet, with pink flowers und hlack strings, had a grey shawl on her arm ; took with her a male infant, eight months old ; dressed in a braided white frock . and cape, black velvet hat, with white feather and blue strings. She left her home for the purpose ot visiting some friends in Essex, but did not reach there. It is feared that some ill has befallen her. Information to be given to Superintendent Hollington, Surrey County Constabulary, Godstone.— Bow- street, July 27. Absconded from Bungay, WILLIAM GODBOLD, a labourer, of St. Andrew, Suffolk, who was committed for trial, but afterwards admitted to bail, on a charge of stabbing and Wounding Robert Todd on the 24tf Mav last: he is 21 years of age, 6 feet 1 inch high, light complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, rouiid face. Information to be given to Inspector May, Bungay, Suffolk.— Boa- street, July 27. Description of JAMES MASON, committed for trial at the adjourned sessions at Knutsford, on the 13th proximo, on a charge ot larceny : he is 47 years of ago, 5 feet 101 inches high, fresh comnl- xion. dark brown hair, dark sandy whiskers, grey eyes slightly pockpitted, has the letter ' D' on the left side in blue ink. states he is a native of Desborough, North- amptonshire, and has served in the F Troop, Royal Horse Artillery, from 1842 to 1849, at Woolwich, since that time he has been working as a navvy in different parts of the country, and was lately employed under Mr. Moss, contractor, at Whit- more, and it is suspected he has been previously convicted, and committed offences elsewhere. Information to be given to Superintendent Roubottom, Constabulary Station, Middlewich, Cheshire.— Bow- street, July 27. Found on the 17th instant, in the canal at Adlington, near Macclesfield, Cheshire: a man, about 60 years of age, 6 feet 10 or II inches high; dressed in a black cloth jacket, with two inside pockets, no vest, light woollen cloth trousers, with a rule pocket on the right side, cotton printed shirt, and a woollen shirt underneath, dark brown stockings, and a pair of old blucher boots, much worn. The body was in a state of decomposition, and is supposed to have been in the water some time. Information to be given to Superintendent Williamson, County Constabulary, Macclesfield.— Bow- street, July 27. Missing from his home since the 14th instant, and it is feared that some ill has befallen him : JOHN ALBERT APLIN, of Itchingswell, Hants; dressed in his working clothes, viz. : black and white checked flannel shirt, brown cord trousers, dark grey cloth coat and vest, round black felt hat; he is 16 years or age, 5 feet 10 mcnes high, light sun- burnt complexion, browu hair, no whiskers or beard. One pouud reward will be given to any person who will give infor- mation as to his whereabouts to superintendent Fey, Kings- olere, Hants.— Bow- street, July 27. Description of WM. CRABTRER ( alias CRABBY) sinker, charged with night poaching and assaulting, on the 6th instant, in company with WM. ATHER, now in custody, two game- keepers at Cudworth. He is about 30 years of age, 6 feet 9 inches high, proportionately built, dark hair, whiskers, and moustache ; generally dresses in either fustain or fluiuel suit, is a native of Bacup or Todmorden, in Lancashire.
