The Names of Accomplices and Accessories, with every particular which may lead to their Apprehcw-' on. Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the pur- po $ obtaining or giving nformation respecting supposed offenders, or S7J 1 property, may hear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to Mr. W. D. BURNABY, the Editor, Police Court, Bow- street, London, W. C. *.* Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As BO charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all letters addressed to the Editor most be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from tbe regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Ma London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING, Description of ALFRED ADAMS, of Bampton, Oxon, j labourer, against whom a warrant has been issued, charged with maliciously inflicting upon one George Shayler grievous bodily harm at Bampton, on the 27th ultimo: he is about 20 years of age, 6 feet 7 or 8 inches high, rather stout build, dark brown hair, no whiskers, and rather dark complexion ; dressed in a velveteen jacket or brown slop, corduroy trousers, lace- up shoes, and a round cloth cap without peak, which he generally wears on the right side of his head ; he has relatives ving at Cricklade, Wilts, where it is probable he may make his way. Information to be given to Superintendent Cope, Oxon Constabulary, Witney.— Boa- street, March 9. ARSON AND WILFUL BURNING- During the night of the 8th instant, an outbuilding at the Van Farm, near Llanidloes, the property of the Right Hon. Earl Vane, was completely destroyed by fire ; a quantity of Corn and Hay, thirteen young Cattle, and various Agricultural Implements, belonging to Mr. Giles Mills, the tenant, were also completely destroyed. Supposed by an incendiary. £ 25 reward will be paid to any person who will give such informa- tion and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Welshpool; to Superintendent Danily, Newtown ; or to Sergeant Owen, Llanidloes, Mont- gomeryshire.— Bow- street, March 16. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON- Stolen on the 12th instant, from the person of a gentleman at Sale Moor, a gold lever hunting Watch, makers Hunt and Rosl^ ell, No. 113D2, has ' L. T. Y.' engraved on centre of case back,' and black silk Guard attached. £ 5 reward will be paid on conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the Watch. Information to be given to Detective Inspector Britnor, Sale, Cheshire.— Bow- street, March 16. Stolen about 12' 40 p. m. on the 12th instant, a tCorwen, from the person of Catherine Jones, of Glyn, Llandrillo, Merionethshire, a black leather Purse, containing £ 8 in Gold, and 3s. or 4s. in Silver. Also about 6 p. m. on the same day, at the Corwen Railway Station, from the person of Thomas Lloyd, of Llidiart- y- Park, near Corwen, a canvas Purse, containing about £ 5 in Gold. Also about 7 p. m. at the Eagles Inn, Corwen, from the person of Mary Edwards, a dark morocco leather Satchel, containing an old fashioned verge Watch, large size, one finger appears brighter than the other, and a common brass Key ( new) attached to the watch, with a plaited leather shoelace, and a bill inside the outer cases. ' Robert Joyce, watchmaker, Ruthin, Is. 6d.' Information to be given to Inspector Hughes, Bala, or to Sergeant Williams, Corwen. — Bow- street. March 16. Stolen from the person of Clarke Burton, on the 10th inst., at Grantham, a silver lever hunting Watch, marked ' R. H. Sexty,' with silver dial, No. 8796. Supposed by a young man, about 21 years of age, 6 feet. 4 inches high ; dressed in a dark coat, light tweed trousers, Scotch cap, and stated that he was a tramping boilermaker. Information to be given to Superintendent Rudkin, Grantham, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, March 16. Stolen from the person of Mr. R. Poole, of Winnington Farm, Alberbury, Salop, at Welshpool Fair, on the 9th inst., the following £ 5 Notes of the North and South Wales Banking Company, viz.: three of the Knighton Branch, Nos. 7361, 7470, and 7406 ; one of the Llangollen Branch, No. 371 5 two of the Newtown Branch, Nos. 9651 and 8818 ; and one of the Oswestry Branch, No. 10,304. £ 6 reward will be paid on conviction of the offender and recovery of the stolen notes. Information to be given to Sergeant Strefford, Welsh- pool, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- street, March 13. Stolen on the 7th instant, from a gentleman, at the box entrance of the Olympic Theatre, a gold hunting Watch, engine- turned cases, white dial, Bunk seconds, makers Arnold and Frodsham, 84, Strand, No 6365 or 6663. Supposed by a man and two women, all of Jewish appearance, and dressed respectably ; the man 60 years of age, 6 feet 2 inches high, dark complexion ; one woman 60 years of age, short, and has two moles on right cheekbone ; the other 36 years of age, very short.— Metropolitan Police, F Division, March 13. Stolen on the 7th instant, from the person of a gentleman, at a hiring market, in Berwick- upon Tweed, a Pocket- book, containing three £ b Bank of England Notes, and some Receipts. Also stolen from the person of a lady, a brown leather Purse, containing four £ 1 Scotch Notes, a Sovereign, and a Half Sovereign. Information to be given to Superintendent Ronaldson, Town Hall, Berwick- upon- Tweed.— Bow- street, March 11. Stolen from a gentleman, at the Crystal Palace Railway Station, Sydenham, on the 2nd instant, a gold lever keyless Watch, makers Arland and Dent, No. 4395.— Metropolitan Police, P Division, March 11. Stolen on the 2nd instant, from a gentleman, whilst in the New Cut, Lambeth, a gold lever hunting Watch, maker Bennett, No. 60082 and 6066, enamelled dial, sunk seconds, engine- turned, jewelled in eight holes, frame rein cap, and compound balance By a youth, 18 years of age. 5 feet 4 inches high ; dressed in dark clothes.— Metropolitan Police, D Divi- sion, March 11. Stolen at Brighton, from the person, on the night of the 7th instant, a silver hunting Watch, ' K.' scratched on the inner case, a gilt Chain, two imitation Guineas, and a small gold Key attached. Also on the night of the 8th instant, a large gold Chrono- meter, maker Walker, a white enamelled dial, with a 6mall piece chipped off near the figure 6, a gold albert Chain, the Prince of Wales' pattern, and a gold fusee Box attached. Information to be given to Chief Constable White, Town Hall, Brighton,— Bow- street, March 11. Stolen from the person of a gentleman, at Bangor Steeple Chase, on the 6th instant, a silver lever Watch, No. 3961, maker Brownhill, Liverpool, with gold wire albert Chain, and gold Seal, white camelia, on which was cut a fox, under a tree, attached. Information to be given to Superintendent Bolton, Hanmer, Flintshire.— Bow- street, Match 9. On theTnight of the 6th instant, Mr. Adam Dempster,[ was attacked by " three or four men, while crossing a field in the borough of Dudley, and robbed of the the sum of £ 445, con- sisting of Gold, Bank of England Notes, and £ 5 Notes of the Dudley and Westbromwich and Wolverhampton Banks, a £ 5 Bank of England Note, backed by E. Trudell, and dated 4th or 5th instant, also a number of Keys, Pocket Knife, Cheque Book, and some Letters. Three men, of short stature, were seen running from the place where the robbery was committed, followed by a female in a brown cloak ; they were dressed in dark clothes and each man wore a billycock hat. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Burton, Dudley,— Bow- street, March 9. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Between 11 p. m. on the 12th, and 6 a. m. on the 13th inst., the dwelling- house of Andrew Bell, grocer, Kirkby Stephen, Westmoreland, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : about 10s. worth of Copper, a large quantity of which is of the old coinage, some of the pennies and halfpennies have been in the fire, and are thicker on oue side, and can be identified, also 1 or 2 fourpenny Pieces, and a threepenny Piece ; a plum Pastry, in a square baking tin ; and an apple Tart, in a round blue and white earthenware dish. The desk from which the money was stolen was found in a garden behind the premises, broken open with a screwdriver or chisel. Information to be given to Superintendent Parks, Appleby, Westmoreland, or at the County Chief Constable's Office, Carlisle.— Bow- street, March 16. Between 12 midnight and 6 a. m. on the 14th instant, a dwelling- house at Rusholme, was burglariously entered, and the following property stolen : a man's grey mixture Overcoat, two pockets outside skirts, and one inside left breast, lined with black alpaca, black buttons ; a blue pilot reefer Overcoat, lined with black alpaca, black buttons; two damask Tablecloths, drab and green pattern ; an electro- plated Cruet Stand ; ten ditto Tea Spoons, marked ' E. twelve ditto Dessert Spoons, marked ' E.;' a ditto Gravy Spoon, a silver Table Spoon, an electro- plated Soup Ladle, a Cheese Knife with ivory handle, an ornamental Timepiece, stands on four feet, man with a spade in hand, standing in a resting position against the clock. Information to be giveu to the Superintendent of Police, County Constabulary Office, Old Trafford, near Manchester.— — Bow- street, March 16. Between 11 p. m. on the 12th and 7 a. m. on the 13th inst., a dwelling- house at Stretford was entered, and the following property stolen : a black Reefer Jacket, black silk velvet collar, pocket on each hip, two rows of black horn buttons, and lined with black alpaca ; a green silk Umbrella, small hole in cover, light brown stick ; a grey tweed Scarf Shawl, much worn ; and six common Tea Spoons, marked 1 W. P.' (' B.' underneath). Information to be given to the Superinten- dent of Police, County Constabulary Office, Old Trafford, near Manchester.— Bon- street, March 16. During the night of the 11th instant, the house of Mrs Drummond Hay, Southend- street, Ledbury, was burglariously entered, and the following property stolen therein: two silver Tea Spoons, two Salt ditto, crest— a man with a yoke on his shoulders, and buckets ; a Table SpooD, marked ' M. L,' Information to be given to Superintendont Tanner, Ledbury, Herefordshire.— Bow- street, March 16. Early on the morning of the 13th instant, the shop of Mr. Evans, outfitter, Chester, was entered through the roof, and the following property stolen therein : 1 dark brown mixture pea Jacket, lined with black alpaca. 1 blue cloth pea Jacket, lined with dark woollen plaid. 6 black cloth shooting Coats, man's size. 6 pairs of mixture clotu Tiuuacis, Various sizes. 1 pair of woollen cord Trousers. 8 or 10 printed flannel Shirts, various patterns. Several black and coloured Vests. 3 beaver cloth Overcoats, boy's size. 3 coloured Mufflers. And a few deerstalker Hats. As the thieves left behind them two suits of old clothing, they will be wearing some of the stolen property. £ 2 reward will be paid on recovery of the property, and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to he given to Chief Con- stable Fenwick, Chester. — Bow- street, March 16. During the night of the 13th instant, the warehouse of a cutlery manufacturer in Sheffield was entered, and the following articles stolen therein : about twelve dozen of Pen and Pocket Knives, one, two, three, and four blades, assorted : six dozen pearl- hafted Penknives, two blades, German silver bolsters; three dozen German silver Pocket Combs, with ivory bandies ; and three dozen one- blade Penknives, with ivory handles, marked • A Present from— Ramsgate, Brighton, Eastbourne, Hastings.' Information to be given to Chief Constable Jackson, Sheffield.— Bow street, March 16. About 3 a. m. on the 13th instant, the premises of the London and County Bank, Winchester, were broken and entered and the following articles stolen therein : a fish Slice and Knife, ivory handle, plated, nine plated dinner Knives and ten Forks, ivory handles, a pair of silver sugar Tongs, marked ' Y,' a silver mustard Spoon, a silver Thimble, and tour new plated table Spoons. Information to be given to Superintendent Hubbersty, Winchester.— Dous- street, March 16. A lock- up shop in Chester was broken and entered through the roof early on the morning of the 13th instant, and a quantity of ready made clothing, consisting of woollen Shirts, Coats and Vests, cloth and woollen cord Trousers, round Hats, several monkey Jackets, boys' Over- coats, and cotton Shirts stolen therein. By two tramps, as two suits of old clothing were left behind ; every article they are now wearing ( except their boots) will be new, and one or both of them will have a bundle. Information to be given to Chief ConStable Fenwick, Chester. — Bow- street, March 16. The dwelling- house of James Kemp, in the parish of Speldhurst, was broken and entered on the 11th instant, and the following property stolen therein : 1 silver double bottom hunter Watch. 1 silver Geneva hunter do. 1 do. open face do., No. 26084, ' Bennett, Cheapside,' on dial and back. 1 do. dial Geneva do., joint of back case repaired. 2 do. pair case do., one with ' M. Bennett' on outer case. 1 do. double case verge hunter do., No. 99884. 2 large Brooches, one with large purple stone, the other small do. Also seven German silver Guartis. Information to be given to Superintendent Dance, Kent Con- stabulary, Police Court, Tunbridge.— Bow- street, March 16. During the night of the 9th instant, the warehouse of Mr. James Holmes, of Oakengates, grocer, was broken and entered, and 70 lbs. of Barcelona Nuts, 16 lbs. of Sultana Raisins, 14 lbs. of Valencia Raisins, about 10 lbs. of Dates and Currants, and 10 lbs. of Figs, were stolen therein, and are supposed to have been carried away in an old rice bag. Infor- mation to be given to Chief Superintendent Richardson, Wellington, or to Sergeant Bromwell, Oakengates, Salop.— Bow- street, March 13. Stolen during the night of the 7th instant,|| from the shop of Mr. Hurst, silversmith, of King- street, South Shields, by means of cutting a piece of the window shutter andjbreaking a square of glass, two reversible box Brooches, one having an aqua- marine stone, one cameo Brooch, with bust of a female, one ditto with two female figures, one ditto female's head, having two faoes, one ditto, and four pairs of bright gold Ear-> drops, new pattern Information to be given to Chief Con- stable Richardson, South Shields.— Bow- street, March 11. On the night of the 9th instant, between 10 p. m. and I a. m., the dwelling- bouse of James Holt, Long- street, Thirsk, was broken and entered, and a silver lever Watch, maker J. Priest, Knaresbro, No. 9451, and a pair of men's Boots, with brass eyelet holes, and newly soled, stolen therein. The offender will probably be wearing the stolen boots, having left his own behind. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Howard, Northallerton, or to Inspector Smith, Thirsk.— Bow- street, March 11, Further information respecting the burglary at Staveley, 2 POLICE GAZETTE. March 16. advertised in the Police Gazette of the 26th ultimo : the two Cloth?, marked ' J. D. Hargreaves,' and the fustian Coat, were stolen, with other property, at Windermere, on the 10th ult. Supposed by a in « n 26 or 30 years of age, 6 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fresh complexion, grey ey* s, light brown hair, sandy whiskers, very slender build, and supposed to be a tailor ; dressed when at Windermere in a black cloth coat, brown vest, grey mixture trousers, and a little black hard round hat. It is'supposed that the following articles, marked ' J. D. Har- greaves,' have been pledged with those stolen from Staveley : a new flannel Singlet, a cotton Nightshirt, two plain white Pocket- handkerchiefs, and two ditto, with borders. Informa- tion to be given to Capt. Ormsby, West Riding Constabulary, Knaresborough.— Bow- street, March 11. On the morning of the 7th instant, the houses of Messrs. Fisher & Edwards, 35, and 31), High- street, Ramsgate, were broken and entered, and stolen therein, from Mr. Fisher's, two silver Tea Spoons, a silver Caddy Spoon, plain, an electro plate Knife Rest, a ditto Mustard Pot, and a pair of ditto Snuffers ; from Mr. Edwards', about £ 1 9s., in silver and copper Coin ; two persons, at least, appear to have been concerned in the burglary, as they left on Mr. Edwards' premises a very small round dark lantern. Information to be given to Head Constable Livick, Police Station, Ramsgate.— £ ou>- street, March 11. The dwelling- house, No. 7, Camden- crescent, Dover, was broken and entered between 11 p. m. on the 8th and 6 a. m. on the 9th inst., and the following property stolen therein: a Salver, two Goblets with inscriptions, a massive Inkstand, a chimney Ornament, four Table Spoons, two Dessert ditto, five Tea ditto, a Gravy ditto, two Salt ditto, a Soup Ladle, a large Fork, and a small ditto, all silver, with crest— a boar's head ; an ostrich Egg, silver mounted ; three gold Seals ; three plated Candlesticks; two ditto Knife Rests ; a black Topcoat, with velvet collar, pockets in skirts ; and a blue ditto, with black and blue lining, pockets in skirts. By a man about 28 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark curly hair, very little whiskers, broad face, high cheekbones, and of sickly appear- ance ; dressed in blue pilot coat, blue guernsey underneath, and cloth cap with peak. Information to he given to Head Constable Coram, Dover.— Bow- street, March 11. Between 7 and 8 p. m. on the 8th instant, a house in New- square, Cambridge, was broken and entered, and the following articles stolen therein : 1 silver Teapot and Stand, marked ' W. G'. 2 Gravy Spoons, 4 Table ditto, 6 Dessert ditto, 2 Salt ditto, 1 Mustard ditto, 1 Butter Kuife, 1 pair of Mulberry Forks, and 1 pair of Sugar Tongs, all silver, and marked ' W.' 1 plated Coffeepot, with silver edges. 2 gold mourning Brooches, on the smaller one is inscribed ' Thomas Watts,' the other has hair in the centre. 2 gold mourning Rings, with ' Louisa and Alice War- wicker' inscribed on them. 2 gold Rings. 1 garnet Ring, set in gold. 2 small gold Pins, with chain. 1 silver Scent Box. 2 silk Umbrellas, one brown, the other green. And other articles. Information to be given to Head Constable Turrall, Police Office, Cambridge.— Bow- tHeet, March 11. The dwelliDg- hcuse of Thomas Jenkins, watchmaker, High- street, Merthyr, was broken and entered between 11 p. m. on the 7th and 7 a. m. on the 8th instant, and a silver Tea Spoon, fiddle pattern, marked ' T. S. Jenkins,' stolen therein. The dwelling- house of E. R. Gay, chemist, High- street, Merthyr, was broken and entered between 11 p. m. on the 7th and 7 a. m. on the 8th instant, and the following property stolen therein : twelve Tea Spoons and a pair of Sugar Tongs, all silver, bead pattern, and marked ' E. R. G.;' four silver Tea Spoons, plain pattern ; two Table Spoons, two Dessert ditto, two Salt ditto, and two Mustard ditto, all electro- plated, bead pattern ; four electro- plated Tea Spoons, fiddle pattern ; a silver Pickle Fork ; a silver Butter Kuife; a pair of gilt Sleeve Links ; and a pair of linen Cuffs. The dwelling- house of Peter Williams, printer, Merthyr Tydvil, was broken and entered oo the nigh? of the 7th inst., and the following property stolen therein : four silver Tea Spoons, marked ' A. K. ;' - ix electro- plated Tea Spoons; £ 12 10s. in Gold 8s. in Six| enct- s and smaller coins, Is. ( id. in Coppers, and 6s wor h of Post ge S'aiups. A drab- coloured life preserver, brass mounted, was lett i eiiind by the burglars. Information o be given to Superintendent Wrenn, Glamorgan- shire Constabulary, Merthyr Tydvil.— Bow- strcct, March 9. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen on the 7th instant, from the New Road, adjoining tbe Cattle Market, Wells, a black Heifer, and dark red Calf, with v. hite star on the forehead, black nose, dark round the eyes, and a little white about the flank : the property of Mr. John Comer, farmer, Blackford, Somerset. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Bloxham, Somerset Con- stabulary, Glastonbury, or to Sergeant Tucker, Police Station, Wells.— Bov.- street, March 13. Stolen from Phenice Farm, Great Bookham, on the 4th iiiBtant, a grey n. are Pony, 12 hands high, 5 years old, long tail, in good condition, and had no shoes on. Information to be given to Superintendent Page, Dorking, Surrey.— Bow- street, March 13. LA^ CiLUYAND EMBEZZLEMENT. Absconded from Ross, Herefordshire, on the 13th instant, charged with stealing a harnessmaker's cutting Guage, the property of William Hyett, his employer: CHAS. JONES, a harnessmaker, 45 years of age, 6 teet 4 inches high, light sandy complexion, short sandy whiskers, flat nose as if broken, has been a soldier, and has served in China ; dressed in black bowler hat, black jacket and trousers, brown waistcoat, fancy flannel shirt, and old boots. Information to be given to Super- intendent Moore, Police Station, Ross, Herefordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, March 16. Stolen on the 11th instant, from a beer- house at Laceby, a silver pair- cased verge Watch, No. 1810, maker S. Robinson, London : by a youth, who lodged at the house one night, 17 or 18 years of age, 6 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark brown hair, dark complexion, no whiskers, very slender built, and was wearing a pair of small wire ear- rings ; dressed in a short dark coat, tinder which was a blue worsted guernBey, had on two pairs of trousers, me pair dark cloth, dark cloth cap, leather peak and strap across front, and brass buttons on sides, and a pair of low shoes with brass eyelet holes. Stated he came from Lynn, Norfolk, to which place he was going. Infor- mation to be given to Inspector Richdale, County Police Station, Great Grimsby, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, March 13. resides in Wren- road, Camberwell. - Metropolitan Police, E Division, Mareh 11. Absconded from Exeter, charged with embezzlement : JAMES TITE, a native of Tiverton, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, rather corpulent, dark brown hair, cut close, no whiskers or moustache, has a scar on one side of his face ( supposed the left) ; geuerally dressed in a dark mixture cloth shooting jacket and waistcoat, light trousers, white scaif aud gold pin, has lately been employed as a traveller for the Devon Weekly Times Newspaper. Information to be given to Superintendent Steel, Guildhall, Exeter, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- stren, March 13. Description of ALFRED MORDEN, alias JEMMY WELCH, charged with stealing a silver Geneva Watch, with the words ' Time keeper' on the face ; a Half- Sovereign, and a white cotton Pocket Handkerchief, coloured border, with the letters ' R P. He also sold the following mason's tools at Yeadon, which are supposed to have been stolon, five boaster Chisels, one inch do. one Tooler, four inches broad, and one point maiked ' L.
