C.' engraved on out- side inner case. Information to he given to Chief Constable Jones, Dumfries.— Bow- street, February 10. Stolen from the person of Samuel P. Harris, in the tap room of the Black Lion public house, Saindrop, on the lst inst. a silver lever Watch, No. 8536, with a gold plated albert Guard a common brass Key, and Cross attached. Infoimation to be given to Sergeant Watson, Durham, County Constabulary, Staindrop.— Bow street, February 5. Stolen from the dwelling- house of George Alsop, at Hamley Heath, near Rugeley, by housebreaking, on the 31st ultimo, a bluck cloth Jacket, and a piir of light coloured Trousers ; supposed by a young man, about 5 feet 4 or 5 iuches high, > iark complexion ; dressed in an old shabby dark jacket, slop, moleskin tiousers, and bat. G.;' 12 round Dutch Cheese ; 20 yards of brown Print, with black spots ; 10 yards of dark Print; 50 yards of white Duck, double width; 20 pairs of women's Boots ; 3 cr 4 pairs of Goloshes ; 3 or 4 pairs of leather Leggings ; 5 lbs. of Tobacco ; 6 pairs of leather Gloves ; 2 bushels of Flour ; and 1 bushel ot Rice. Some time between the 28th ultimo and the 1st instant, the parish Church of Castle Camps, Cambridge, was entered by a window, which had been left unfasteued, and the following property stolen therein : a red Cloth from the communion table, with • I. S.' in gold letters in centre; an Altar ( needle work) Carpet, 10 feet long by 4J wide, dark ground, orange tracery, red Maltese Crosses, and blue and black border ; also several Church Services and Hymn Books, some having the names of Leonard, Bode, end Masters, written in them. Between 12 midnight and 1 a. m. of the 7th instant, the dwelling- house of a gentleman at Crumpsall was burglariously entered, and ti e following property stolen thereiu : six tilv. tr Table Spoons: a pair of silver Sugar Tongs, marked ' T. A. B. ;' a silver Sugar Spoon, uiaiked ditto; and a small electro- plated Fork,— by a man, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, aud dressed in black cloth coat, and black billy- cock hat. information to be given to the Superintendent, County Police, Old Trafford, near Manchester.— Bow- street, February 10. Between 0 30 p. m. on tbe 7th and 8 30 a. m. on the 8th instant, a dwelling- house at Harpurhey, was burglariously entered, and the following property stohta: a black cloth Overcoat, nearly r. ew, two pockets outside skirts, and one inside left breast, velvet collar, black cloth buttons ; a blue pilot clothjMoiikey Jacket, black horn buttons, two pockets in sides, which have been torn, black velvet collar. Between 8 and 9 p. m. on the 5th instant, the Crown Inn, Abergavenny, was broken into and the following articles Btolen, the property of the landlady, Miss Monkley : 1 gold Geneva open face Watch, w hite dial, seconds band, winds up by turning the handle. 1 long gold Chain, with three Lockets attached, one like a book, with places for 4 portraits, otie square, blue stone outside, and places for 2 portraits, and one like a basket of grapes. 1 gold Bracelet, with pendant heart. 1 gold mourning Brooch, in the shape of a cross, three diamonds in the centre, two pearls, and a place where another has been. 1 gold Brooch, w ith pendant locket. 1 pair of gold sleeve Links, 1 gilt Brooch, with blue aud yellow stone. 3 gold Rings, one with red stone, one with square red stone, made to turn round, and one with hair on top. 2 gold Studs. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Usk, or to Superintendent Freeman, Abergavenny.— Bow street, February 7. During tbe night of the 2nd instant-, the dwelling- house and shop of David Woodford, of Steeple Aston, Oxon, grocer, was broken and entered, and stolen therein: four £ 5 Notes, supposed of Gillett's Bank, Banbury ; £ 6 in Gold ; a quantity of silver and copper Money ; two silver Table Spoons, marked « D. R. W.:' two silver Tea Spoons, marked ' D. W.;' a pair of silver Spectacles; a qumtity of Postage Stamps ; a Receipt for £ 5 4s. ( id. on a life policy ; a Tablecloth, marked ' D. R. W.;' a pair of Balmoral Boots; a piece of Bacon, about 8 lbs. of Tea, about half a loaf of lump Sugar, and a quantity of Cigars in a paper box. SE A3WD CATTLE STEALING Description of JOHN YARDLEY, for whose apprehension a warrant has been issued, for having on the 22nd ultimo, feloniously received eighteen sheep the property of William Burmaii, of Perry Birr, in the pariih of Hand.-. w rth, well ki, owing them to have been stoleu : lie is a butcher, about 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, slender make, dark brown hair, cut short, whiskers shaved off, has some hair giowing under the chin, swarthy complexion, and keen looking, carries his head a little on one side when walking, and turns his tots out very much ; dressed in a black cap, tied wiih ribbon in front, aud dark blue jacket, and is well acquainted with Liverpool, Birmingham, and Wolverhampton. Stolen from an orchard in the parish of Southfleet, Kent, on the 21st ultimo, two Kent Ewes, marked ' 0' on rump, in pitch, and a dot on shoulder.' Found, supposed to h- ive been stolen on the 24th ultimo, a brown Mare, ft years old, about 12 hands high, 2 white hind fetlocks, fresh shod, bang tail, fe. v white hairs on nose, and in good condition. Stolen from Christchurch Park, in the borough of Ipswich, during tbe night ot the 1st instant, a bay gelding Cob, about 14 hands high, has a white star on forehead, clipped knees, aud some hair shaved off left side ; the property of Isaiah Gooding, farmer. Information to he given to Head Constable Mason, Town Hall, Ipswich.— Bow- nrcet, February 7. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Description of THOMAS MITCHELL, for whose appre- hension a warrant has been issued, charged with embezzlement at Chrislchurch, Hants: 26 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, thick set, round features, fair complexion, little colour on cheeks, dark brown hair aud whiskers, speaks very slow when talkiug, down cast look, a blue ring round one wrist iu shape of a bracelet, apparently pricked in with a needle, very full grey eyes, broad eyebrows, long eyelashes, and has a boil on his right side, ju- t by the waistband of his trousers ; dressed in fustian trousers, dark cloth vest with fustian sleeves and back, and black hat or cap; previously to his coming to Christchurch he had been working at Messrs. Ingram's, iron- foundry at Poole. Information to be given to Sergeant White, Hants Constabulary, Chrislchurch.— Boie- s ree'., February 10. Stolen on the morning of the 4th instant, from a common lodging house at Upton- upon- Severn, the property of Jane Glastonbury : a light coloured cotton Dress ; a woman's black fur Jacket ; a Crinoline; a Chemise ; and 2 pairs of women's Drawers. By a female, about 25 or 26 years of 8ge, 4 feet 7 or 8 inches high, light brown hair; dressed in light coloured cotton ciess, black btraw hat with a red feather in it, strong nailed boots, will be wealing either the stolen jacket, or a black and white plaid shawl, she hss ear- rings in her ears much resembling a guinea ; has with her a lirge basket with two handles, with which she hawks caps and nets, and is well known in the neighbouring towns having formerly travelled with a man of colour. She was traced to Worcester, which place she left in the direction of Swansea or Cardiff. Absconded from Ipswich, on the 6: h instant, CHARLES GAYFORD, charged with stealing on the 3rd instant, at Cullingham. 32 live tame Pheasants, the property of George Bond Esq., he is 40 years of age. but look-> much younger, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark complexion, fair whiskers, and very thin moustache, teeth in front very bad, walks very erect ; dressed in brown cloth shooting coat, daik vest and worsted cord trousers, deerstalker hat, or dark cap ; a labourer, and has worked in a soap factory. Iuformation to be given at the County Police Station, Ipswich, Suffolk.— Bow street, Feb. 10. Absconded from Cambridge, charged with larceny : HEN. PEPPER, a tailor, but sometimes works as a painter, is a dog fancier, about 24 years of age, 6 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark hair and complexion, no whiskers, small dark beard ; dressed in dark clothes arid black low crowned felt hat. GEORGE COCK, alias JOHN COCK, a tailor, about SO \ eirs- of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, stout made, dark hair and complexion, small dark moustache, and few whiskers p de face, dissipated appearance, a has a nervous way of speaking ; dressed in shabby clothe6, with high silk hat. and formerly lived and worked at Minster, near Brighton. Description of a tramping watchmaker, or cleaner, who absconded from Runcorn, on the 5th instant, charged with stealing a silver verge Watch, n- ime supposed ' H. McKirdy, Birkenhead, Cheshire, No. 18036' also a pair of small Plyers : he is about 60 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh full face, hair and whiskers turning grey, lather stout made ; dressed in lon: » black cloth coat, black cloth trousers and vest, and black silk hat ; he is supposed to be well kr. DescriptiSn of ELAM FOX. charged with stealing " five Pheasants, from an aviary, at Fletching, Sussex, on the night of the 31st ult. : he is 25 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 itches high, light complexion, full face, light brown hair, has a little very light beard, speaks with a gross voice, stout figure, single, labourer ; supposed dressed in white slop, cord trousers and cap hs absconded from Nutley, in tht parish of Maresfield, on the 3rd instant, and is supposed to be in some put, of Kent or Surrey. Information to be given to Superintendent Peacock, Uckfield, Sussex, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- street, February 10. Abscouded on tbe 2nd ultimo, from No. 151 Tottenham- court- road, embezzling £ 80: by a man, 23 years of age, 5 feet ; 4 inches high, fair complexion, light hair and whiskers, right \ fore arm stiff from an operation ; dressed in blue short coat, dark overcoat, dark trousers, rind black silk hat, is a native of Lower Hayworth, near Weedon.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, Febr. ua y 7. Absconded on the 20th ultimo, from the employ of the Atlas Insurance Company, Cheapside, stealing upwards'of £ 20, the Monies of the said Company : JOHN HENRY HARRIS, clerk, late of 4, Canterbury- place. Lambeth- road, 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, brown hair, inclined to sandy, fair complexion, remarkably quick manuer. Description of a tramping shoemaker, who is charged with having, about 3 a m. on the 2nd instant, burglariously broke out of the dwelling- house of Mary Buckley, of Upper- mill, iu the township ot Saddleworth, with wnom he had lodged a few days, stealing and raking away— a square lapped black cloth Coat, a black cloth Vest, a pair of black and white plaid Trousers, a black cloth Cap wiih leather peak, and bound with black and white plaid cloth ; a white silk Pocket Hand- kerchief, 2 Sovereigns, and 3s. 6d. in Silver, the property of Joseph Lee, a lodger in the said house : he is about 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, light complexion, browu hair," grey eyes, has a tuft of brown hair uuder Ins chin, no whiskers, prominent ronian nose, and round shouldered ; dressed iu a shabby grey mixture overcoat, bl tck cloth trousers and vest, black billycock hat, old elastic side boots, aud white knitted woollen muffler ; he is supposed to be a native Cheadle, Staf- fordshire, at which place he served his apprenticeship. He is about 42 years of age, about 6 feet 11 inches high, dark eves, black hair and thick black moustache, narrow forehead, oval fac>-, ruddy complexion, large figure, and walks erect; when last Seen he woie a dark felt hat, daik brown overcoat, and had a massive gold albert chain ; his luggage consisted of a new black hand portmanteau of American cloth, bound with black leather, 24 inches long, 13 ii ches wide, i, nd 9 inches deep, with brass knubs at the corners ( both top and bottom), and one in the centre; h « had als > a black leather bag, which he put into the portmanteau before he left London. Whoever will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension of the said mau, withiu 3 calendar months from this date, shall receive a reward of £ 100, and whoever will give such informa- tion as shall lead to ihe recovery of the above Securities within the said period, shall receive a reward of £ 200, or a propor- tionate part thereof, according to the amount recovered. CAPTAIN BOWLER, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 3rd instant, charged with fraud, has been apprehended, and remauded uutil the 15th instant.— Bow- street, February 10. Description of HENRY THOMAS, a watchmaker, charged with obtaining three silver Watches, a gold Watch, and an Albert Chain, by false pretences : about 35 yeirs of age, 5 feet 8J or 9 inches high, slenderly made, dark hair and com- plexion, whiskers bhaved off face long thin heard, and mous- tache ; dressed iu short blue pea jacket, light trousers, and ordinary black hat ; he may go in ihe name of HUXTABLE. Information to be giveu to Chief Constable Glossop, Birming- ham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, February 6. MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATIONS. Description of JOHN GODDARD, a cheesemonger, of Nottingham, committed to take his trial at the adjourned quarter sessions for the county of Montgomery, charged with felony ; he is 45 years of age, 6 feet 6^ inches high, stout make, large features, fresh complexion, light brown hair, brown eyes, shaves all his beard, which is inclined to be sandy ; dressed in a dark mixture cloth jacket, vest, and trousers, brown tweed overcoat, white jimcrow hat. and a pair of strong lace- up boots. Information to be given to Superintendent Danily, Newtown, Montgomeryshire.— bow- street, February 10. Description of two men who are remanded to Haverford- west Gaol, for larceny: JOHN MURPHY ( supposed fictitious), 26 years of age, 5 feet 8J inches high, dark hair cut short, blue eyes, dark com- plexion, scars ou hands, cheeks, and centre of forehead ; dressed in a moleskin jacket, dark monkey jacket underneath, dark trousers, and black bowler hat. ALBERT HOWARD, a man of colour, a native of New Brunswick, 21 years of age, 6 feet 1 J inch high, black negro hair, black eyes, three scars on right arm, scar on left cheek on forehead, and under left eye, birth mark on right side of noso, and dressed in a dark coat, brown vest, and drab trousers ; states be worked his passage as a seaman fiom New Brunswick to Liverpool, aud that li-? and Murphy came out of Cardigan Gaol last week, they having served a month there for wilful damage. Information to be given to Superintendent Cecil, Borough Police Office, Haverfordwest.— Bow- street, Feb. 10. Description of a man who gives the name G. WILLIAMS, which is supposed to be fictitious, remanded till the 14th instant, charged with passing counterfeit coin : he is 26 years of age, 5 feet 7^ inches high, dark brown hair, rather sallow complexion, larae head and features, clean shaved, has the appearance of a pugilist, and has six black dots on the bick of left hand; dressed in a grey witney overcoat, black trousers and veB', a small black b > wler hat, a black and white plaid scarf, and says that he is a native of Bath. Information to be given to Supeintendent Stockdale, Police Station, Cardiff.— Bxw- itreet, February 10. Description of two men in custody at Slough, under remand till the 12th instant, charged with uttering counterfeit coin at Colnbronk, on the 8th instant : JAMES WILLIAMS, states he is a builder and contractor, and resides at No. 55, Stanley- street, Pimlico, London, 55 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, etout build, hair turning grey, large whiskers, beard, and moustache turning grey, grey eyes, fresh complexion, full forehead ; dresBed in a light mixture suit, dr^ b overcoat high black hat, and lace- up boots with biass eyelet- ho n, the rUht boot cut down the front. ROBERT WILLIAMS, otatea h ® is a surveyor's assistant, and resides at No. 178, Cambridge- street, South Belgravia, London, 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, pale complexion, small features, grey eyes, dark brown bair ; dressed in a black cloth frock coat, trousers, aud vest, high black hat, and eide- spring boots, and is of very respectable appearance. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunham, Slough, Bucks.— bow- street, February 10. Left hi* home in the parish of Melton Mowbray, Leicester- shire, on the 27th December last, and has not since been heard of : GEORGE WILLIAM MARRIOTT. 24 years of age, 6 feet 10 inchea high, fair complexion, light coloured hair, without whiskers or moustache, light grey eyes, aquiline nose ; dressed in dark tweed trousers, black ribbed coat and vest, billycock hat, and elastic side boots. It is feared some ill has befallen him. Information to be given to Superintendent Platt, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire,— Bou>- street, Feb, 10. Missing from his home at Walsall, since the 2nd instant, THOMAS HENRY, 26 years of age, sandy complexion, 5 feet 7 inches high, bandy hair, and stout built ; dressed when lasi seen in black cloth jacket, corduroy trousers, strong lace up boots, and cap. It is feared that some ill has befallen hiui. or that he has met with foul treatment. Information to be given to Chief Constable Cater, Police Office, Walsall.— Bow- street, February 10. Description of a tramp remanded at Winslow, till the 12th inst., on a charge of larceny : he gives the name of GEORGE BROWN, of Church Fenton Yorkshire, and has also given the name of THOMAS FORBES, of Derby, about 65 years of age, 6 feet 4 inches high, fresh complexion, bald on the top of the head, red whiskers meeting under the chin, thin face, slightly built, and is asthmatical ; dressed ia a hr> wn tweed cloth jacket, with two outside skirt pockets, cotton cord vest, grey woollen muffler, old black cloth trousers, dark cloth cap with peak, and lace- tip boots, cut open in front, all much worn and very dirty ; he has the appearance of a rag gatherer, carries a bag strapped to his back, aud had in his possession a piece of wrappering, about 6 feet square, much worn and repairel. He is suspected of having committed offences else- where, and is supposed to have been pieviously convicted. Missing from his home at Swallowfield, rear Rending, si ce the morning of the 20th ultimo, n youth named BIGGS, 17 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, slight figure, light brown hair, pale sickly complexion, hazel eyes, eyebrows and eyelashes darker than hair, and lashes rather long; dressed in thick rough light bluejacket, with buttons of the old 60th Regiment, cornucopia, crown aud wreath on them, hunting vest of a whitish colour, and made altogether of the same stuff, blue tie with union pin in it, black trousers, elsstic- side hoots, short drab leather gaiters, and low round- crowned black felt hat; had on one of his fingers a hair ring, set in gold, linen all marked ' S. L. Biggs,' Bocks and collars marked ' B.;' had in his pocket a bank hook, with ' Captain Robert Brown' written outside in large letters, and the inside written full of poetry. Further information respecting RICHARD and MAR- GARET HARRIET MILLER, advertised iu the Police Gazette of the 29th ultimo, as being in custody, they have been { summarily convicted of felony, at West Hartlepool, and sentenced to two months hard labour each. The male prisoner was also committed for trial at the next quarter sessions, at Durham, for the robbery of a lady's gold Chain and Locket, from South Shields, on the 22nd ult., found in his possession.
