Stolen from a gentleman at Bridgwater, Somersetshire, on the night of the 31st ultimo, a gold lever Watch, embosseJ back, with flower in centre, makers ' Parkinson and Bouts, No. 7147,' on dial. £ 2 reward will be paid on recovery of the watch and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superintendent Lear, Bridgwater, Somersetshire. — Bow- street. January 3. Stolen from the person of the late William Hall, a sergeant in the Northumberland Constabulary, whose dead body was found on the sands about 1J; mile North from New- biggin- by- the- Sea, on the 21st instant: a patent lever silver Watch, capped and jewelled, silver dial, No. 13554. Infor- mation to be given to Major Browne, Chief Constable, North- umberland Constabulary, Alnwick, or to Superintendent Cocks, Morpeth.— Bow street, December 30. flIURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. THOMAS QUIGLEY, a lumper and dock labourer, is charged by the verdict of a jury, summoned by the coroner for Liverpool, with the wilttil nniif. Uv of hu - wife, Dinah.! Quigley, on the 18th instant, in Vernon- street: he is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 7$ inches high, strong well- knit frame, dark complexion, short dark brown hair, rather inclined to curl, dark brown whiskers ( slightly intermixed with grey) round the face and chin, but may possibly be Bhaved off, small feet and hands ; dressed in loose- ma le blue pilot cloth overcoat, pilot cloth V'st with dark moleskin sleeves and black buttons, white moleskin trousers, half Wellington boots, black neckcloth, and brownish- coloured billycock hat. Her Majesty's Secretary of State fov the Home Department has authorised tho payment of a reward of £ 50 to any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension of the said Thos. Quigley. Information to be given to the Head Constable, or to the Chief of the Detective- Department, Dale- street, Liver- pool.— Bom- street, December 30. About 930 p. m. on the 11th instant, five men were poaching on game preserves at Pilley, near Barnsley, belonging to the Right Honorable Lord Wharncliffe, when his Lordship's head gamekeeper George Thirkill, was shot dead. A reward of £ 60 will be paid by the Government ( in addition to the £ 60 already offered), to any person or persons giving such informa- tion ( private or otherwise) as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offenders, and in proportion of that amount for any one of them ; and the Secretary of State will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the actual person who fired the gun, who shall give such evidence as shall lead to the same result. Any person or persons harbouring or concealing any of the offenders will, after this date, be piosecuted. Information to be given to Colonel Cobbe, Chief Constable,. West Riding Constabulary, Wakefield ; to Superintendent Fisher, Barnsley ; or to Super- intendent Gillett, Rotherham.— Bow- street, December 30. ARSON AND WILFUL BURNING- Between 7 and 3 p. m. on the 30th ultimo, 60me person or persons wilfully set fire to an Oat- rick, three Hay- ricks, and the farm buildings at Boveney Court Farm, the joint property of Mr. E. Evans and Mr. T. White; 40 guineas reward will be paid to any person who will give such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, viz. 10 guineas by C. P. Williams Esq., treasurer to the Salt Hill Association, 20 guineas by Mr. Evans, and 10 guineas by Mr. White. Information to be given to Super- intendent Dunham, Police Station, Slough, Bucks.— Bow- st., January 3. On the nights of the 28th and 31st ultimo, some person or persons wilfully set Are to and destroyed certain Buildings, Machinery, and Stacks upon a farm at Ingleby Greenhow, North Riding of Yorkshire, in the occupation of Mr. James Goulton. £ 20 reward will ba paid for such information, to he given to the Superintendent of Police, Stokesley Police Station, as shall lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders.— Bow- street, January 3. On the night of the 22nd instant, an unoccupied dwelling house situate in Chingswell- street, Bideford, the property of Robert Kingsford, 17, Great Queen- street, London, W. C., was set on fire; a bullseye lantern, a quantity of lueifer matches, a silk hat, of London make, a carpet bag, labelled, a quantity of gunpowder, and other conbustibles were discovered on the premises. A man calling himself WILLIAM CAIUS, who is supposed to be the incendiary, has been apprehended, and whose name has since been ascertained to be LIBERTY CAIUS KINGSFORD, a sorter in the Gen. Post Office, London, about 30 years of age, 6 feet 5 \ inches high, fair complexion, browu hair, grey eyes, small moustache, with false teeth in upper jaw; dressed in dark cloth jacket and waistcoat, dark BURGLARY AND HOUSB BREAKING. Between 6' 30 and 8 p ro. on the 1st inst., a dwelling- house at Birkenshaw was entered by means of skeleton keys, during tbe temporary absence of the family, and the following property stolen therein : £ 21 in Gold and Silver ; a double- case silver Terge Watch, yellow dial, maker Snow, Bradford, had attached a silver fob Chain with two runners, a seal, and common yellow stone with impression of a spear, it has been broken'and repaired with white thread ; an old small silver verge Watch, double case almost round, hour and minute hands broken off, the nut loose in socket ; a silver verge Watch, double caso, cream coloured dial, one hand ( supposed the minute) broken off, a steel curb Chain attached ; three silver Tea Spoons, vaudyke pattern ; four silver Tea Spoons, Vandyke pattern, marked ' B;' two silver Tea Spions, fluted pattern, marked ' IKS six silver Tea Spoons, marked ' A. B. tlire3 silver Salt Spoons ( one cockle- shell pattern, tbe others plain) ; a silver- plated Mustard Spoon, much worn and indented with teeth ; two silver Sui> ar Tongs, one vandyke pattern, the other plain, ' B. I. H.' engraved on both; a silver plain square Sugar Scoop ; a silver Crtam Jug, fluted pattern, marked 1 A. B. ;' two bunches of Keys; a small brass Padlock and Key ; two drab jean Purses, one had two compartments; a steel Purse, made of split rings, steel clasp, lined with green slip ; a crimson velvet Purse with steel clasp ; a purple leather Pocket- Book, mounttd with brass; two crimson leather Pocket- Books; a drab ditto ; a large black and whit « woollen Kerchief, with scarlet border; a scarlet and plaid ditto ; three ladies' Berlin wool Scarfs, honey- comb pattern, with eight small squares at each end, forming an octagon fifiure ; two pairs of women's elastic side Boots, patent leather tips; and three pairs of women's knitted Stockings, puce- coloured, with white circular stripes. A reward of £ 5 will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and rtcovery of the property. Description of ALBERT AMBROSE, who absconded from Long Melford on or about the 22nd ultimo, charged with burglariously breaking into the dwelling- house of Charles Sergeant, of Melford, with another man, who h.. s since been committed for trial, and stealing therein a Hare and a Goose : he is a native of Melford, 22 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, no whiskers, grey eyes, long visage, delicate looking, front teeth project in upper jaw, and turns his feet out » hen walking ; dressed in an old rusty blown tweed suit and black cloth cap ; may have a black cloth coat with him, he has been working at the cocoa- nut mat weaving. Information to be given to Superintendent Schofield, Police Station, Boxford, or to Inspector Keebie, Police Station, Melford, West Suffolk, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, January 1. Between the hours of 8 a. m and 5 p. m. on the 26th instant, the cottage of Richard Seabrey, situate at Broadmoor, in the parish of Cardington, Salop, was broken and entered during the absence of the family, and the following articles of wearing apparel stolen therein : a grey Jacket, a black Jacket, a black Vest, a light Vest, a pair of woollen cord Trousers, a pair of dark grey Trousers, a black oval Hat, two silk Handkerchiefs, eight yards of check Shirting, one yard of white Calico, and ons pair of woollen Stockings; supposed by tramps. Burton- on- Trent, as shall lead to the con- viction of the offender or offenders, shall receive £ 20 reward. — Bout- street, December 30. Between 10 a. m and 12 p. m. on the 25th inst., the cottage of George Trinder, iu the parish of Radley, Berks, was broken into and the following property stolen : a black rough cloth Overcoat, pockets at the hips, one breast pocket, plaid lining; a cord Jacket and Waistcoat; a pair of watertight lace- up Boots, nearly new, nailed ; two Scarfs, one silk, the other woollen ; a yellow, white, and red silk Pocket Handkerchief; a man's leather Waist Uelt, a pair of lambswool Gloves, a plain gold ll'ng, a Penknife with pearl handle, four Postage Stamps, a Sixpence with hole in it, a 4d.- piece, a 3d. do , abont 2J lbs. of Cheese, IJ lb. of cooked Baccn, and two half- loaves of Bread. An old coat and waistcoat and a pair of Boots were found in a copse close to the cottage. Information to be given to Superintendent Hedger, Abingdon, Berks. — Bow- street, December 30. During the night of the 1st instant, a wether teg Sheep was feloniously slaughtered in a field adjoining Malt Hill- lane, in the parish of Hanslope, Bucks, and the skin, head, and entrails left in the field ; the property of Martha Stevenson, of Hanslope, farmer. Information to bo given to Inspector Hedley, Police Station, Newport Pagnell, Bucks.— Bow street, January 6. Description of two men who absconded from Doncaster on the 30th ultimo, charged with slaughtering and stealing the carcase of a Skeep ( since recovered), from a field at Ardwick- upon- Dearne, near Doncaster, on the 25th ultimo, the property qS James White : WILLIAM CAMPSALL, collier, Watn, about 23 years of age, 6 feet 2 or 3 inches hi^ h, light brown hair, pale com- plexion, and has one or two prominent teeth in front of upper jaw. WILLIAM NADEN, collier, West Melton, aliout 23 yearB of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, light brown hair, fresh com- plexion, and pockpitted. Inquiries to be made at all collieries, and if found to be appre- hended. Information to be given to P. C. ( 666) Daniel Cow- ham, West Riding Constabulary, Bolton- upon- Dearne, or to Superintendent Aatwood, West RidiDg Constabulary, Doncaster who holds a warrant for their apprehension.— Bow- street, January 6. Stolen between the 2Gth and 30th ultimo, from the Harfen Mountain, in the parish of Llanfihangel Bryn Pabuan, Brecon- shire, twenty Wether Sheep, crossed with the Radnor breed, 4 and 6 years old, pitchmarked on the right tide with the letter ' G,' raddle marked on the left thigh and hip, light ear point cut and a slit and a small noich on upper part, left ear point cut off; the property of Mr. Geo. Griffiths, Bwlchcilian, Llanafanfawr. Any pertou giving such information as will lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders will be rewarded by the owner. Stolen on the morning of the 27th ultimo, from a stable, at Boston East, a light coloured chesnut Horse, halt bred, strong and bony, aged, about 1G hands high, a scar on the near side of the neck, a little hair cliated off the far side hip bone, tai trimmed and cut square ; the propeity of Thomas Monks, supposed by a man, dressed in darK clothes, with a dark grey overcoat, and billycock hat. Information to he given to Superintendent Manton, County Police Station, Boston.— Bow- street, January 1. Stolen on the night of the 27th ultimo, from a field in the parish of Kenwyn, Cornwall, a bay Horse, 8 years old, 16 hands high, in good rough condition, has a white mark round fetlock of near fore leg, and also round off hind leg, caused by being fettered, white streak down tace, and long switch tail. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Complin, County Police Station, Tiuro, Cornwall.— Bow- street, January 1. Stolen from Caldeifields Farm, near Walsall, on the 19th instant, a red and white yearling Bullock, with one horn broken off; £ 6 reward will be paid to any one - who shall give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Inspector M'Crea, Rushall, Staffordshire.— Bow- street. December 30. Stolen from Epsom Common, on or about the 13th instant, two black Mares, aged, 5 and 3 yeirs old, the eldest has a white star on forehead, was fettered at the time, and if the fetters are off the mark will remain. £ 3 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, on application to Mrs. Bullen, Epsom Common, Surrey.— Bow- st, December 30. Stolen during the night of the 25tli instant, from a fold in a field in the parish of Wooburn, Bucks, five fat half- bred Down teg Sheep, marked with a dot of pitch about the size of a half- crown on the off hip, which mark is nearly obliterated, the property of James Fryer, of Little Marlow. Information to be given to superintendent Sargent, High wycombe, Bucks. — Bow- street, December 30. Stolen from a field at Datchet, Bucks, during the night of the 2Gth instant, 0 small South Down wether Sheep, in very poor condition, supposed taken away in a cart. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunham, Police Station, Slough, Bucks.— Bow- street, Dec. 30. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. A warrant is issued for the apprehension of GEORGE THOMPSON, for stealing a pair of men's Boots, braBS lace- holes, and nailed with round- headed nails, and a dark leather PurBe, containing 6s. in Silver, from the dwelling- house of John Springthorpe, at Oakham, on the 31st ultimo: he is about 22 years of age, 6 feet 8 or 9 inches high, stout make, upright, light, brown hair, no whiskers, ruddy complexion ; dressed in dark loose coat, light- coloured trousers, and black shell hat; h « s worked for some time as a gardener, but repre- sents himself at different times as a carpenter or butcher, etc., seeking employment ; is a native of Newton Harcourt, Leices- tershire. Information to be given to Police Constable Rowland, ( No. 3) Police Station, Oakham, Rutlandshire, who holds the warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, January 6. Absconded from Bridgwater, on the 31st ultimo, charged with stealing a gold lever Wateh, embossed back with flowers in ctnfre. maker's name and No. on dial ' Parkinson and B. ut?, 7147.' ELLEN FRAZER, alias JONES, alias IRISH NELLY, a prostitute, from 26 to 30 years of age, about 6 feet 3 inches high, rather stout, dark complexion, cut acrosB bridge of nose; dressed in an old black silk gown, trimmed with bugles, black cloth jacket, green cheese plate bonnet. £ 2 reward will be paid on recovery of the Watch and conviction of the offender. Information to be given to Superintendent Lear, Bridgwater, Somersetshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, January 6, Further information respecting the young man who absconded from Stockton- on- Tees on the 21st ultimo, charged with embezz ement, and advertised in the Police Gazette of the 24th ultimo: his name is ALEXANDER GEORGE REED, and not ANDREW GEORGE REED, a clerk, a native of Newcastle- on Tyne, about 23 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, fair complexion, light br< wn hair cut short; dressed when last seen in black cloth coat and vest, light- coloured cloth trousers, brown topcoat with velvet collar, high- crowned hat, and turnover collar. It is supposed that he will endeavour to emigrate. Information to be given to Superintendent Booth, Stockton- on- Tees, whoholds a warrant fo h ia apprehension.— Bow- street, January 6. Description of a man and woman who absconded from Newcastle on the 2nd inslaut, stealing the following articles: u black and white straw Bonnet, trimmed with velvet, feather, blfck buttons, and puce strings ; a leather Purse a gold Pin, a black Brooch, a German silver Tea Spoon, and a pair of puce Gloves. The man is 26 years of age, 6 teet 9 or JO inches high, light complexion, whiskers ( all round his face), and moustache, light brown hair, thin make ; dressed in new dark clothes and light grey cap; by trade a lath render; the woman is 21 years of age, rather tall, thiu make, dark com- plexion, black hair, and dressed in a linaey skirt and jacket, with a row of white shirt buttons round the bottom. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Alexander, Newcastle, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, January 6. Absconded from Blackburn, on the 31st ultimo, JOHN AINSWORTH. charged with embtzzling £ 166, the property of his employers, the Blackburn Corporation, for whose appre- hension a warrant has been issued: he is a rate collector, a native of Blackburn, 30 years ot age, but looks older, 6 feet 4 or 6 incheshigh, slender made, swarthy complexion, long thin face, dark hair, whiskers and heard, with some grey hairs, small dark sunk eyes ; dressed i i old black frock coat, black witney surtout overcoat, and black bat; will have a large sum of money in his possession ; was traced towards Chester on the 1st instant, supposed to be on hia way to America, via Holy- head, Dublin, and Queenstown, or via Liverpool, South- ampton, or London. Whoever will give such information as shall lead to his apprehension, will receive £ 20 reward, on application to Chief Constable Potts, Town Hall, Blackburn, Lancashire.— Bow- street, January 0. Description of WILLIAM DAVIS, charged with stealing a Portmanteau, the property ot Viscount Maiden, in whose service he had been as butler, and absconded on the 23rd Nov. last : he is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, brown hair and whiskers, slight figure, when last seen was wearing a blue pilot coat; it is supposed he is in London, acting as waiter in an hotel, or may seek employment as butler, or footman, in an assumed name. Description of William Butler, and his three sons, residents at Tingley, charged with stealing in the dwelling house of John Joseph Marriott, a bricklayer, of Tingley, in the town- ship of West Ardsley, between the hours of 9 p. m. 26th, and Description of a man who gives the name of GEORGE THOMAS WRIGHT, of Lynn, Noifolk, in custody at the Police Station, Watlington, Oxon, under remand till the 11th instant, charged with attempting to obtain money under false pretences at Great Haseley, Oxon, on the 3rd instant, by a petition, representing that Mary Ann Wiight, of Pyrton, had, since the death of her husband, supported herself and family from tbe profits of a dairy farm, but pleuropneumonia, a disease of the lungs, had deprived her of nine milch cows, valued at £ 144 ; it also stated that the minister, the Rev. G Marshall, and the churchwarden, Mr. T. Cooper, of the said pariah, recommended this case to the notice of the benevolent of this county ; the petition bears the names of H. Hamersley, George Carter, and several other gentlemen in the parish and neigh- bourhood, for various sums of money, all of which are forged.
