The Names of Accomplices and Accessories, with every particular which may lead to their Apprehension. Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the pur- pose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to Mr. W. D. BURNABY, the Editor, Police Court, Bow- street, London, W. C. *.* Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor most be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from tbe regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Description of two men, reputed to be Fenians, forcibly rescued from custody while being conveyed to the Manchester City Gaol, at 4 p. m. on the 18tli ultimo, who are now at large. THOMAS J. KELLY, otherwise MARTIN WILLIAMS, a native of Ireland, 35 years of age, 5 feet G inches high, hazel eyes, brown hair, brown whiskers, small scar inside right arm, scar over right temple, large scar on middle of belly from an ulcerated wound, one tooth out on right side next to double ones on top side ; says lie ista bookbinder. TIMOTHY DEASEY, otherwise JOHN WHITE, a native of Ireland, 29 years of age, 6 feet 10 inches high, swarthy complexion, hazel eyes, dark brown hair, brown moustache, whiskers shaved off, proportionate make, scar on left cheek near the ear, speaks with a strong American accent; eays he is a hatter. £ 300 reward will be paid by Her Majesty's Government to any person or persons who shall give such, information as will lead to their apprehension. Secrecy will be observed as to the name of the informant. Stolen on the night of the 29th ultimo, from the person of James Brindley, in the township of Tytherington, Cheshire, a silver lever Watch, No. 23335, ' JAS BRINDLEY ' round the dial instead of figures, and ' James Brindley ' engraved on the inner case. Information to be given to Superintendent Williamson, County Constabulary Office, Macclesfield, Cheshire.— Bow street, October 4. Stolen from the person of EVAN DAVIES, Harp Inn, Corwen, Merionethshire, while entering a railway carriage, at Longsight Station, Manchester, at 101- 5 p. m. on the 23rd ult., a silver lever Watoh, ( new), No. 2976, on the face ' Jno. Thos. Edwards, Corwen.' Information to be given to Inspector Hughes, Constabulary Office, Bala, Merionethshire.— Bow- st., October 2. Stolen from the person of a lady, at King's Cross tation, Great Northern Railway, on the 21st instant, a fold Geneva Watch, makers Scott and Co., Geneva, No. 1960. nformation to be given to Inspector Williams, King's Cross, London.— Bow street, September 30. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Stolen between 1 and 6 p. m. on the 28th ultimo, by means of housebreaking, from the cottage of William Green, at Southleigh, near Witney, Oxon ; a woman's Shawl, white ground and dark flower, creased and worn where it was folded when new ; two new calico Shirts, men's size; a dark cloth Waistcoat; a dark grey tweed ditto; a silk and two cotton Pocket- handkerchiefs ; a cotton Sheet; and material for a pair of Sheets, unmade. Supposed by a man, about 2G years of age, 5 feet 6 or 6 inches high, pale complexion, dark brown hair, bushy whiskers meeting under chin, short neck, stout built; dressed in a dark pilot coat with white short slop under- neath, dark grey trousers, and cloth cap. Information to be given to Superintendent Cope, Witney, Oxon.— Bow- street, October 7. Stolen by means of housebreaking at Worthenbury, Flint- shire, between 9 a. m. and G p. m. on the 4th instant: a pair of cotton cord Trousers, lined below the knee ; a pair of brown cloth ditto, similarly lined ; and a brown and white plaid Vest Supposed by two tramps, one 6 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dark complexion, hair, whiskers and moustache ; dressed in dark coat, trousers, & c.: the other about the same height, stout build, has lost right hand at the wrist; dressed in dark coat and light coloured trousers. The dark coats which the men were wearing are the proceeds of a similar robbery committed at Willaston, Cheshire, the day previous. Information to be given to Superintendent Bolton, Hanmer, Whitchurch, Salop.— Bow- street, October 7. Stolen by means of burglary, on the night of the 1st instant, from the dwelling- house of J, Dennett, Esq., in the parish of Woodmancote, a silver Cup, a silver wine Strainer, and two silver Candlesticks, all with crest— a lion, with the letter ' D.' underneath. Information to be given to Superin tendent Parnell, West Sussex Constabulary, Steyning.— Bow- street, October 4. On the night of the 28th instant, Offington House, Broad- water, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen : a silver wine Strainer, crest— a greyhound ; a silver- gilt Snuff- box ; a tortoiseshell- handled Knife, mounted in gold, arms on shield— a bundle of arrows ; a double Sovereign ; some gold Coins ; a bunch of four or five gold Seals ; a large red cornelian Seal, marked * J. G.' on one side, arms— grey- hounds ; a silver Seal, marked ' T. G. a bunch of six or seven small gold Seals, arms on amethyst," in a shield— crowned heart and greyhounds ; a large double- bottomed silver lever Chronometer, maker Joseph Pennington, Liverpool, No. 3094 ; and a silver Watch, in a case. Information to be given to Inspector Henderson, West Sussex Constabulary, Worthing. — Bow- street, October 2. Stolen, by means of burglary, on the night of tbe 27th instaut, from the dwelling- house of Dr. Moore, No. 19, Mont- pellier- place, Brighton : a pair of Sugar Tongs, two new Tea ditto, a small old Tea ditto, a Dessert ditto ( all plain, silver, and marked ' M.') ; a silver moist Sugar Spoon, two electro- plated Spoons for mustard and suit; a German straight tele- scope Microscope, in a mahogany box about 12 inches high, and 7 inches wide; and 8s. Gd. in silver. Information to be given to Chief Constable White, Town Hall, Brighton, Sussex. — Bow- street, September 30. Between 8 a m. and 6 p. m. on the 28th instant, the dwelling- house of Henry Westbury, of Wretchwick, was broken and entered and stolen therein : an old fashioned black cloth Coat with cuffs, a black mixture Vest, a ditto red striped, a pair of black mixture Trousers, darned at the knees, a calico Shirt, and £ 3 in gold. A tramp was seen in the neighbourhood carrying a bundle,, about 30 years of age ; dressed in a brown coat and cap, and in company with a short stout female about his own age. Information to be given to Superintendent Moulden, Bicester, Oxon, who will pay all reasonable expenses. - Bow- street, Sepember 30. On the morning of the 27th instant, the dwelling- house of Samuel Baker, of Ticehurst, Sussex, labourer, was broken and entered and the following property stolen: two pairs of dark cloth Trousers ; a dark Jacket; two white cotton Shirts ; a blue striped ditto ; a pair of boy's corded Trousers ; a black billycock Hat; a pair of old half Boots ; a light muslin Dress ; a dark stuff Dress ; three children's Frocks ; a child's Jacket; a quantity of baby Linen ; a light Shawl; a black ditto ; two boys' white Shirts; a blue striped ditto; a shirt Front; three cotton Sheets ; a pair of cotton Stockings; a pair of worsted ditto ; a pair of old black cloth Trousers ; a pair of tweed ditto ; a pair of men's old light half Boots ; a dark cloth jacket with pockets at each side ; a chamber Towel; a Pocket- hand- kerchief ; a Necktie; three old night Gowns ; a pair of em- broidery Sleeves ; a white Petticoat ; a fancy Fan ; and a pair of lace- up side Boots. Supposed by tramps : two men from 35 to 40 years of age, about 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexion, slight made ; dressed in dark jackets and high black hats. Two women from 30 to 35 years of age, dark complexion ; dressed in shabby black. Also a girl. They were traced as far as Pembury, Kent. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes, to Deputy Chief Con- stable Thompson, Battle, or to Sergeant Pocock, Burwash, Hurst Green, Sussex.— Bow- street, September 30. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Supposed stolen on the 27th ult., from a field at Thornton Curtis, | two ewe Sheep, under bitted on the right ear, the property of John Laming. Also on the 28th ultimo, two Lambs, marked ' S' on the near side and under bitted on one ear, the property of Joseph Sergeant. Information to be given to Superintendent Thorsby, Barton- upon- Humber, Lincolnshire. — Bow- street, October 7. Supposed to have been stolen from Dartford Heath, during the night of the 2nd instant, a dark mare Fony, branded with the letter' W' on the off side, broken knees, long tail and mane, had with it a brown Foal, with white face, about 5 months old. Information to be given to Superintendent Brandon, Kent County Constabulary, Dartford.— Bow- street, October 7. Supposed to have been stolen during the night of the 4th instant, from a field at Dalton, near Huddersfield, the property of Mr. John Brooksbank ; a dara. chesnnt harness Mare, leg a shade lighter, 15 hands high, 6 years old, a white star in fore- head, roman nose, switch tail, and in good condition. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Heaton, West Riding Constabulary, Huddertfield,— Bow- street, October 7. Stolen from a field in the borough of Ashton- under- Lyne, on the 24th ultimo, a dark chesnut coloured cart Mare, in working condition, 17 hands high, aged, has a small white spot on forehead, and rough down the legs, which are lighter in colour than the body. A young man is in custody for stealing the same, and remanded until the 7th instant, and says he sold it to George and Richard Leach, knackers, Newton Heath, near Manchester, who state they killed her in two days after they purchased her. It is suspected she has not been slaughtered. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Ashton- under- Lyne.— Bow- street, October 4• Found at Fivehead, Somersetshire : supposed to have been stolen, two Calves of the Devon breed, one heifer and one steer, each has a slit in the near ear. Information to be given to Superintendent Everitt, Somersetshire Constabulary, Ilminster, or to Sergeant Yellen, Fivehead.— Bow- street, October 4. Further information respecting the Horse, & c., stolen from Mr. Joseph Whitehouse, of King's Norton ( advertised in the Police Gazette of the 30th ultimo): the horse, harness, saddle, and bridle have been found, but the cart is still missing. A man of the following description is charged with the offence : he is about 22 years of age, 5 feet 5 or G inches high, slender make, pale face, dark hair, no whiskers; dressed in a grey jacket and trousers, black billycock liat. He is supposed to be the same person chaTged- with stealing a pony at the parish of Northfield on the 17 th ultimo. Information to be given to Superintendent Humphries, King's Heath, near Birmingham. — Bow- street, October 4. Stolen from Crick, Northamptonshire, on the night of the 24th instant, a nag Horse, aged, about 15 hands 1 inch high, very full of bone, dark bay colour, white star on forehead, walks very close with his hocks, plain in the neck and head, rather rat tailed, lias not been docked, and is in excellent condition, the property of Mr. John Cooper, farmer. £ o reward will be paid on the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. Also stolen, on tbe same night, from a field in the parish of Crick, adjoining the Old Watling Street Road, a bay nag Horse, aged, in low condition, about 16 hands high, both knees broken, and a star on forehead. Two men of respectable appearance, were seen loitering near the field about 6 30 the same evening : one about 5 feet 10 inches high, with sandy whiskers meeting under the chin ; dressed in dark clothes, and a soft black billycock hat; the other about 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high ; dressed in dark clothes, and a soft black billycock hat. Information to be given to Chief Constable Bayly, St. Giles's- square, Northampton, or to Superintendent Bailie, Weedon Beck, Northampton.— Boio- street, September 30. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT- Absconded on the 25th ultimo, charged under warrant with embezzlement; ALFRED PERRIS, assistant collector of rates for the township of Seacombe, Cheshire : about 19 years of age, 5 ft. 8 inches high, slender make, light complexion, light curly hair, no whiskers or moustache, very thick lips ; dressed. wtien last seen in a black cloth surtout coat, light tweed trousers and vest, and fashionable black silk hat : he frequents theatres and singing saloons. Information to be given to Superintendent Hammond, County Police, Abbey- street, Birkenhead, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, October 7. Description of FRANCIS HENRY HARVEY, solicitor's clerk, who absconded from Wiuchcomb, on the 24th ultimo, charged with embezzling a sum ot Money, the property of the trustees of the savings bank to whom he was secretary : he is 40 or 45 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, stout made, heavy built, slightly pockmarked, near sighted, has large bushy whiskers and moustache ( blackish brown colour) ; when last seen was dressed in a light tweed shooting jacket and vest to match, with a bowler hat; but usually dresses in black, and high- crowned hat. Is believed to be in the neighbourhood of Charing Cross, London, or in the locality of the docks where vessels sail to New York and Australia. Information to be given to Superintendent Day, Cheltenham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, October 7. Absconded from Bridgwater, Somerset, on the 4th instant, a man charged with stealing from his lodgings : a silver verge Watch, pair case, No. 6573, with silver guard Chain attached ; a common reversible Brooch, female likeness one side and male the other ; a pair of white Stockings ; five holland collars, marked ' Citizen;' three white Pocket- handkerchiefs, marked ' M;' and a light Waistcoat. He is about 21 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, slender built, thin face, weak eyes, black hair, no whiskers ; dressed in a dark coat, light vest ( supposed the stolen one), speckled straw hat with black band, very old lace- up boots; well educated, and travelled lately with strolling players. Stolen from the Red Lion inn, at Great Mario w, upon the morning ot the 1st n stunt : three lineu Sheets, one unbleached, supposed nfflrked ' A. N.' or ' C. U.', and a Blanket, full size. By a man who lodged nt the heme the previous night: about 30yetrsof age, 5 ! eet 8 imhes high, pule comp'. exion, dark hair and whiskers ; dressed in a long dark tweed coat, and a low- crown white hat. Information to be given to Inspector Clear, Great Marlow, Bucks.— Uow- sUect, October 4. Stolen from Field Head, near Hawkshead, on the 25th ultimo, a cart Saddle and Breeching, and a horse Collar ( re- covered), the prop- rty of Mr. Mark Maitindale, of Field Head, farmer. Absconded from Sherborne at the beginning of last month, ALFRED CAREY, a groom, charged with stealing Head- Stalls, Stirrup Leather and Irons, Bridles, Burnisher, and other articles : he is about 28 r 30 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, very stout made, fresh complexion, large eyes which appear sore, and little or no whiskers. Information to be given to Superintendent Watts. D raet Constabulary, Sherborne, who holds a warrant tor his apprehension.— Bow- street, October 4. Description of a youth charged with stealing £ 12 in Gold from a dwelling- house in the borough of Ashton- under- Lyne : he is 16 years of hge, 5 feet 6 inches high, slender make, light complexion, and light brown hair ; dressed in a black cloth swinge? coat, black trousers and vest, elastic- sMe boots newly soled. He has been a clerk in a railway office, and is supposed to have gone to sea. Also description of a young man charged with stealing a Bsg containing about £ 2 in Silver from the till of a public- house in the said borough, about 10 30 a m. on the 2nd instant : he is about 19 j ears if age, slender make, long features, small tuft of hair on chin, hair cut short behind ; dressed in a black cloth Bwinger jacket, brown cloth trousers, and soft billycock hat crushed in at the top. Information to be given to Chief Constable Dalgliesb, Borough Police Office, Ashton- uuder- Lyne.— How- street, October 4. Absconded from Bilston on the 30th ultimo, charged with stealing time pairs of men's Tops for Boots the property of Thomas Newnes. ANDREW PHIPPS, cordwainer, a native of Bradford: he is 33 years ot age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fair com- plexion, no whiskers, light brown hair, wulks erect having served in the militia ; dressed when he absconded in a black cloth jacket, vest, and trousers much worn on the knees. In- formation to be given to Chief Superintendent McCrea, Con- stabulary Station, Bilston, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, October 4. Stolen from the Globe Inn, in the borough of Beverley, at 1 am. on the 28th ultimo, a pair of light tweed Trousers made tight in the legs groom's fashion ; a brown pea Jacket ; a brown Waistcoat; and 4s. By a man who has absconded, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, beard on the chin only, dark hair ; dressed in a blue cloth or pilot jacket, dark waistcoat, green mixed trousers ( small check), blue cloth cap with military peak, elastic- side boots with imitation laces in front, and white stockings. Says he is an engineer and belonged to a ship in the Hull Docks, which is talse. Information to be given to Inspector McIntosh, Beverley, Yorkshire.— Bow- st., Octo'ir 2. Stolen on the 28th ultimo, between the hours of 5ai. d6a. m., from Fylingdales : the property of John Temple, farmer ; a brown and white checked plaid woollen shawl, black border, large fringe round the edge, has a split in one corner, about 5 inches in length. By a man, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fair complexion, liiiht brown hair, small light whiskers on cheeks, bald on top of head, second fiuger on right hand lame, and bouud up with white calico; dressed in either a brown alpaca or dirty white duck coat, twilled fustiin trousers, strong nailed boots cut round the quarters, aud tied with laces, and black cloth cap, or billycock hat, was last employed at harvesting, and is supposed to be a native of Cambridgeshiie, or Norfolk. Information to be given to Superintendent Clarkson, Whitby, Yorkshire.— Bow strect, October 2. Absconded from Cambridge on the 28th ultimo, charged with stewing a Horse and Cart, which has been recovered: GEORGE GOTOBED a groom, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, one of his lower eyelashes has been cut through ; dressed in a dark overcoat, with black velvet collar, a light coat and vest under it, dark mixture trousers, shoes with brass eyelet holes, recently sold, and low crowned hat, had with him a paper parcel, containing a pair of spring side boots, and a pair ot breeches, his wife and two children live in Loudon, and he is supposed to be with them. Information to be given to Head Constable Torrali, Police Office, Cambridge, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, October 2. Absconded from the borough of Walsall, charged with stealing £ 2 4s. and other monies, of Mr. William Gough, saddler, Wals. ll, his master: PAUL LUDLOW, a saddler, 50 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, stout, and hair turning grey. Iufor- matiin to he given to Chief Constable Cater, Walsall, who ht Ids a warrant for his apprehension.— Huw- street, October 2. FELONIES ( Not otherwise described ). Description of a man who is charged with attempting to upset the Mail train on the London & North Western Railway at Ince, on the 22nd ultimo, by placing large wooden sleepers on the permanent rails: he is about 29 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, brow n complexion, dark brawn curly hair, has lost some of his front teeth, both top and bottom ; dressed in an old linen jacket, old ribbed fustian trousers, dark coloured cap, and old navvy boots, which he wears about half lac^- d ; he is suppored to have been travelling about the country; he left his lodgings io Wigan on the 24th ultimo, and has not since been heard ot. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Ellison, Penaberton, near Wigan, Lancashire.— Bow- itrcet, October 2. dressed in a new suit of black cloth clothes, black hat, and kid boots, says he came from Vienna, and was a Wesleyan preacher. Description of Dr. ROBERSON, professor of languages, who absconded fr. m Sandbach ou the 3rd instant, charged with obtaining £ 4 fiora Samuel Carter, of Sandbach, on the 30th ult. by false pretences : he is about 30 years of age, 6 feet 1 or 2 inches high, dark hair and moustache, sallow complexion, long features, sight slightly defective, and wore spectacles; MMK3 VLJLAICjsUOUS INFORMATIONS. Description of three men who are committed to take their trial at the next York Assizes, on a charge of burglary on the 1st instant: WILLIAM JOHNSON, 23 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, freah complexion, grey eyes, sandy hair, proportionately built, has ' D D' marked oil left breast, anchor on left arm, and a dot on thumb; dressed in old brown cloth jtcket and vest, fustian trousers, much worn ou thighs in front, and cloth cap ; states that he belongs to Blackburn, Lancashire, aud is a labourer. ROBERT BRUCE, 23 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, fresh c uiplexion, grey eyes, brown hair, proportionately built, has ' It. B.' marked ou right arm, and a mark on right breast, which he says was caused by the kick of a horse ; di> ssed in grey cloth topcoat, dark cloth trousers aud vest, black billycock ! at, and old Wellington boots; states that he belongs to Ireland, but has been brought up at Newca4le- on- Tyne.
