Notice.— It ia requested that all communications for the pur- pose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stole'! property, may bear tile Mi&' nature of the person requiring or sending the Br me, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to Mr. W. D. BURNABY, the Editor, Police Court, Bow- street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre hended, and the name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As BO charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor m^ lSt be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without bis authority. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING Found on the 13tlijinsiant in the Shropshire Union Canal, in the township of Christhton, Cheshire, the body of a new- born female Child, tied up in two pieces of dirty white calico, a piece of black coburg apron, and two newspapers ( one ' The Daily Telegraph,' 4th October, 18S5, and the other ' The Cheshire News,' 8th December, 186( 1), and weighted with a large stone. An inquest was held on the 26th instant, anu a verdict returned of ' Wilful Murder' against some person or persons unknown. Information to be given to Superintendent Wilson, Tattenhall. or to Sergeant Palin, Weaverton, Cheshire. — Bow- street, April 29. On the 16th instant, the body of a female Child, newly- born, was found in the River Yore, near Masham, North Riding of Yorkshire. An inquest has been held, and a verdict of' Wilful Murder ' returned against some person or persons unknown. Infoimation to be given to Inspector Alderson, Bedale, or to Superintendent Walmsley, Leyburn, North Riding of Yorkshire.— Boa- street, April 22. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Description of a man wbo attempted to rob Mr. Henry Flowers, of Banbury, in a field near Teddington, Oxon, on the 26th instant : about 30 years of age, 6 feet 7 or 8 inches bigh, light complexion, light whiskers, aud had one of his front teeth knocked out in the struggle with Mr. Flowers, and his lips are supposed to be swollen very much ; dressed in a dark cap, black cloth jacket much worn, white linen trousers, very dirty, as if he had recently been working in a foundry. Information to be given to Inspector Bowen, County Police Station, Deddington, Oxfordshire.— Bow street, April 29. Stolen on the 23rd instant, from the person at Darlington, a silver lever Watch, maker Schwarer, York, No. 22226, cream coloured dial, gold pointers, and steel seconds hand. Stolen from the person of a gentleman at Durham Races, on the 23rd'instant, a patent lever Watch, No. 6680, nearly new, Information to be given to Superintendent Beard, Durham. — Bow- street, April 29. Stolen from the person of a gentleman, in the city of Durham, on the 22nd instant, an old fashioned silver verge Watch, has the name of * Thomas Kashier' on a shield outside case. Also a Valuable gold lever Watch, pointer of seconds hand much worn. Information to be given to Superintendent Beard, Durham.— Bow- street, April 29 Stolen from the person at Wellington, Salop, on the 15th instant, a silver lever Waich, engine- turned case, seconds dial, No. 3817. Also on the 20th instant, a silver Watch, No. 3864. Information to be given to Sergeant Christie, Welling- ton, Salop.— Bow- street, April 26. Stolen from the person, in a railway carriage between Ashford and Dover, on the 22nd instant: a silver Watch, maker ' Jones.' Also from the person, at the Review, near Dover, a ditto ditto, No 6012. Information to be given to the Head Constable, Dover, Kent.— Bow- street, April 26. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Between 12 midnight on the 25th and 6 a. m. on the 26th instant, the dwelling- house of Jonathan Pickernell, known as the ' White Hart' inn, Henley- on- Thames, was burglariously broken and entered and the following property stolen : about 12 or 14 shillings in Coppers; 3s. 6d. in Silver ; a pair of men's I almoral Shoes, nearly new, with patent leather facings and brads all over the soles ; a black cloth Waistcoat; and two old silk 1' ocket- haiidkerchiefs, led ground and club pattern in the centre ; the property of Jonathan Pickernell. Also a | air of children's Shoes, new, about 11 size, with patent lacings and raised heels of a brown colour, the property of Thomas Gough, a hawker, who slept in the house. Information to be given to Superintendent Cope, Henley on- Thames, Oxon.— Sou- street, April 29. The dwelling- house of James Knott, Burham, Kent, was broken and entered between 11 p. m. on the 13th and 6 a. m. on the 14th instant, and the following articles stolen : an old- fashioned silver Watch, No. 12297, maker G. Plummer, London ; five silk Handkerchief's, 1 black, 1 check, 1 yellow, 1 plum, 1 red with red flowers ; a very small dark plaid Vest, lOd. in Coppers, a quantity of Cigars, and about 1 lb. of Tobacco. Information to be given to Superintendent Hulse, East Mailing, Kent.— Bow- street, April 29. Between the hours of 10 p. m. on the 25tb, and 5 a. m. on the 26th instant, the cottage of Alfred Hawkes, labourer, at Mill End, Hambleden, Bucks, was broken and entered, and a cord Jacket with metal buttons, a boy's black cloth Overcoat, a black ctape Shawl, a pair of men's lace up Boots with steel tips ( one of them loose), two pairs of women's unbleached cotton Stockings, and a salted pig's Cheek, stolen therefrom. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Shepherd, High Wycombe, or to Inspector Clear, Great Marlow, Bucks— Bow- street, April 29. About 3 a. m. on the 23rd inst., the office of the Ystalferd Iron Company, in the parish of Llanguick, was broken into, the drawers and desks foiced open, and £ 3 in Gold. £ 1 2s. Od. in Silver, 4s. 6d. in Copper, about £ 2 worth of Postage Stamps ( the greater part penny stamps), and a small thin & ilver Plate, with initials ' G. H. J.' cut through, stolen therefrom. Two men are suspected : one is about 36 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, sandy whiskeis ; dressed in a dark coat and light cord trousers : the other about 19 years of . age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, pale complexion, dark hair, I cut or shaved very high at the back of neck, dark eyes, has some deformity of the right foot, w hich is bent and turns in when walking, and is supposed to be slightly lame ; dressed iu two coats, the overcoat has two buttons on the back, bowler hat, and wore a yellow breast pin. Information to be giveu to Superintendent Thomas, Constabulary Office, Neath, Glamor-, (. mature. — Bow- street, April 26. On the night of the 21st instant the dwelling- house of Eli Farrant, in the parish of Framfield, was broken and entered, and a pair ot lace- up Boots, nailed when new with five rows of round- headed nails, some of which have been worn down in the tiead and replaced with large 6quare- headed nails, pelts on heels and toes, the outside part of heel pelt of left boot worn off and replaced by five square- headed nails, stolen therefrom. The burglar is supposed to be wearing the stolen boots, as he was traced towards Lewes by the footmarks, or he may be wearing an old pair of elastic- side boots with clumped soles, which he was wearing previous to stealing the boots, as shown by his footmarks. Information to be given to Superintendent Bennett, Uckfield, or at any Police Station in East Sussex.— Bow- street, April 24. On the night of the 20ih instant, the house of Frederick Brodie, Esq., Uckfield, was burglariously broken into, and a child's silver Mug stolen therefrom. By a man, short and slight, who left a screwdriver and an old pair of elastic side boots iu the home. Infoimation to be given to Superintendent Bennett, Uckfield, Sussex.— Bow- street, April 22. Stolen from the cottage of William Allcorn, Uckfield, which was broken and entered, an old pair of elastic side Bcots, clumped soles. Information to be given to Super- intendent Bennett, Uckfield, Sussex.— Bow- street, April 22. Between 10 p. m. on the 15th and 7 a. m. of the 16th inst., the premises of Mr. William Chapman, of Herstmonceux, draper and grocer, were burglariously entered, and about £ 3 in money stolen therefrom, which consisted of about 3s. worth of 3d., 4d., and 6d.- pieces, upwards of £ 1 worth of Farthings, and the remainder in Pence and Halfpence, several of the halfpence being very much bent, and among them are several French Soua. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes, or to Superintendent Waghorn, Hailsham, Sussex.— Bow- street, April 22. Late on the night of the 16th instant, or early the follow- ing morning, some person or persons broke and entered the l saddle room at Edstone Hall, near Stratford- on- Avon, and stale therefrom a dark tweed stable Jacket, a plum coloured livery1 Coat, with white buttons, crest— a Swan, and a shilling in cash. Information to be given to Inspector Harris, Henley- inArdeD, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, April 22. Stolen from Barton, in the parish of Temple Guiting, on the night of the 10th instant, the property of Mr. Robert Hanks, of Barton, farmer, a black mare Pony, about 12 hands high, 4 years old, small white star on the forehead, a little white on the near hind foot, long mane and tail, no shoes, and very wild. Information to be given to Constable Evans, Police Station, Lower Guiting, near Winchcomb, Gloucestershire.— Bow- street, April 22, HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Description of SAMUEL MIXLOW, charged with Sheep stealing at Grantham : he is 38 years of age, 6 feet g inches high, dark complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, has an impedi- ment in his spetch, and a native of Dorrington mar Sleaford, Lincolnshire, a labourer : he was sentenced to 3 years' penal servitude at Lincoln March Assizes, 1864, for a misdemeanor. Information to he given to Superintendent Rudkin, Borough Police Station, Grantham, Lincolnshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, April 29. Stolen from Great Barr Park. Aldridge, Staffordshire, between the 21st and 24th instant, a Colt, 3 years old, 14 hands high, long tail and coat, rather light coloured eyes, and without shoes; the property of James Wilner, Walsall. Information to be given to Superintendent Holland, Wednesbury, or any Police Station in the county of Stafford.— Bow- street, April 29. Stolen from a field at Welland, on the night of the 16th instant, a bay mare Pony, rising 6 years old, about 12 hands high, low in the back, near hind foot white, the others black, white stripe down face, bushy tail cut rather short, long mane, blind witti near eye, and fair condition ; the property of Mr. A. Watkins, farmer. Information to be given to Super- intendent Checketts, Upton- on Severn, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, April 29. Stolen on the 25th instant, from a field at Lewisham Village, a bay mare Pony, aged, loDg tail.— Metropolitan Police, P Division, April 29. Supposed to have been stolen from an orchard in the parish of Bredgar, on the night of the 23rd instant, a chesnut gelding Pony, 7 years old, 13J hands high, white feet, broken knees, cut over right eye, and is rough from being badly clipped ; the property of Mr. Peter Reed. Information to be given to Superintendent Green, Kent County Constabulary, Sitting- bourne.— Bow- street, April 29. Found straying in the parish of Wighton on the 11th ins. supposed to have been stolen, a small sized dark brown gelding Donkey, with white nose, sand crack on near fore feet, aud coat chafed off behind. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Blomfield, Walsingham, Norfolk.— Bow- st., April 29. Stolen on the night of the 14th instant, from a field at Shirland Hall, Harborne, a brown hack Mare, 6 years old, about 14 hands high, long mane, switch tail, and in low con- dition ; the property of Mr. John Gosling, Six Ways, Smetli- wick. Information to be giveu to Sergeant Passey, Police Office, Smethwick, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, April 29. Stolen on the night of the 17th instant, from a field in the parish of Serling the properly of Frederick Hutley, farmer, a grey mare Pony, 6 years old, 15 hands high, long mane and tail, and without shoes. Information to be given to Superin- tendent May, Witham, Essex.— Bow- street, April 26. Supposed to have been stolen from a field at Addlestone, Surrey, during the night of the 20th instant, a black mare Pony, rising 6 years old, about 13 hands bigh, top of the off ear cut off, also a piece out of the side of the same ear. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Murtell, Surrey Con- stabulary, Cherisey.— Bow- street, April 26. Stolen from a stable at Melverley Hall, Salop, on the night of the 21st instant, a dark brown waggon Mare, brown muzzle, a little white ou off hind foot, in veiy good condition, very powerfully made, is about 17 years old, but looks much younger, about 16 hands high, and active, the property of Mrs. Hannah Davies, farmer ; also, a cart Bridle, with three brass stars iu front, one has the figure of a bull in the centre, and can be identified. Some gipsies were seen in the neigh- bourhood, and are suspected. Information to be given to Superintendent Gough, Oswestry, or to Detective Sergeant Dovey, West Felton, Salop.— Bow- street, April 24. Stolen on the night of the 17th inst., from Mr. Strutton'a farm. Old Oak- park, in the parish of Acton, a grey roan Mare, about 16 hands high, with large splint below the knee of fore leg, long mane and tuil, without shoes, 6 years old, and in good condition; aud a bay Gelding, about 16 hands high, 7 years old, in poor condition, has had fever in fore feet, goes rather lame and on his heels. £ 5 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the recovery of the horses and conviction of the offender or offenders. W.— — Bow- street, April 24. Stolen from a field between Castle Donington and Sawley Bridge, on the 16th or early on the 17th instant, belonging to Mr. Bakewell, an aged grey horse Pony, about 14 hands 2 inches high, has been fired on both fore legs round the ceronet.
