INFORMATIONS. rURDEE AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING On the 20th ultimo, ihe body of a full grown Male Child was found, wrapped up in a piece of an old brown coburg Skirt, in St. Paul's Churchyard, Preston. A coroner's inquest was held on the body, and a verdict of " Wilful murder' returned against some person or persons unknown. Two tramps, of the following description, were seen sitting near the place shortly before tbe body was found, and are strongly suspected : a man, about 40 years of age, 6 feet fi inches high, pale complexion, dark hair ; dressed in a fustian coat and trousers, and black billycock hat, all old and dirty ; and a woman, about 35 years of age, 4 feet 9 inches high, pale complexion ; dres- ed in a dark straw bonnet, daik dress and shawl, all very old aud dirty. CORNELIUS PRYCE, the gipsy charged with felo- niously wounding Henrietta Smith, advertised in the Police Gszette ot the 29th October last, has not yet been apprehended. He has been seen several times lately in Snropshire. Information to be given to Superintendent Danily, Newtown, Montgomery hire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, March 4. On the 19th ultimo, the dea l body of a newly- born male Child was found in tbe River Weaver, on the Anderton side, with two pieces of tape and a white cotton stocking tied tightly round its neck ; the body was wrapped in a piece of white cotton, and over that an old dark red striped petticoat, pieced round the bottom with dark brown linsey about 4 inches deep. A coroner's inquest was held on the 20th ultimo, and a verdict returned of ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown.' Information to be given to Superintendent Andrews, Lymm, or to Sergt. Naylor, Comberbach, Cheshire. — Bow- street, March 1. On the morning of the 17th ultimo, the Body of a newly- born female Child, was found in the Wern Field, in the borough of Nea h, tied up in a canvas tool bag. An inquest was held on the 21st ultimo, before H. Cuthbertson, Esq, coroner, when the jury returned a verdict of ' Wilful Murder' against some person or persons unknown. The Secretary of State has off- ied a reward of £ 50 IO any person who will give such information and evidence as shall lead to the appiehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, and will advise the frant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not eing the person who actually murdered the child. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Phillips, Borough Police Station, Neath, Glamorganshire.— Bow- street, March I. On the 18th instant, the dead body of a male Child apparently about three weeks old, was found in a wood at Hambieden, Bucks, with a piece of a white j ockct- handker- chief tied tightly rouud its neck. A coroner's inquest was held on the 22nd instant, and a verdict returned of ' wilful murder' against some person or persons unknown. SOBBERY AND LARCj, iY JfJ OM THE PERSON- Stolen from the person of a lady whilst travelling by a train from Birkenhead to Llandrillo, Merionethshire on the 28th ultimo, a leather Purse containing £ 3 in Gold, and from 4 to 8s. in Silver, a Receipt for the payment of a sack of Flour, and a post- office Order drawn at the General Post Office, Liverpool, and made payable at Manchester. Stolen from the person on the evening of the 1st instant, at Baschurch Races a uold Ei glish lever Watch, ' R. A.' engraved on the hack, No. 695. Information to bo given to Superintendent Gough, Oswestry, HaUyp— Bow- street, March 4. A man of the following description is charged with having, between 9 and 10 a. m on the 27th ult., demanded by threats and stolen froin the person of one Ellen Yem, an old leather Purse, with common steel clasp, containing two Half- crowns, two Shillings, aud a Sixpence : he is about 35 years of age, 6 feet G or 7 inches high, small tuft of hair on chin, little or no whiskers, and has a cut under one of his eyes; dressed in a velveteen jscket, moleskin trousers and vest, trousers turned up at the legs, navvy hoots, and black bowler hat, and has the appearance of a railway labourer. The robbery was committed in a wood called the Beauleau, about two miles from Mon- mouth, on the Coleford and Gloucester road, and the man is supposed to have gone in the direction of Gloucester. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Wheeldon, Borough Police, Monmouth.— Bow- street, March 1. Apprehended by the Police at Newport, Monmouthshire, charged with larceny from the person, MARY WESTON, states that she belongs to Clifton, Bristol, 30 years of age, 6 feet 3 or 4 inches high, good looking, light brown hair, blue eyes ; dressed in dark linsey dress, daik grey tweed waterproof cloak with hood buttoning up the front, dark straw bonnet trimmed with flowers, and lace veil, carried a black and white woollen shawl across her arm. Also ESTHER WALLACE, who states that she belongs to Hull. 25 years of age, dark complexion, long thin features, dark brown hair, dark eyes ; dressed in black merino dress, dark grey waterproof cloak, small black bonnet trimmed with black bugles, and a large lace veil. They arrived in tbe town from Bristol, return tickets having been found in their possession. The names tbey have given are supposed to be fictitious, and they are | believed to have been previously convicted for a Bimilar offence. They stand committed to take their trisl at the next quarter sessions to be held at Usk on the 18th proximo. Between 10 and 11 am. on the 27th ultimo, the dwelling of William Lingard, of Fothcrby, Lincolnshire, was entered by means of breaking a pane i f gUss in the pantry window, and taking out tbe fastenin , during the absence of the inmates, and the following properly s den therefrom : a small old- fashioned silver verge Watch, with steel chain and a broken key attached ; a dark silk Handkerchief, with round spots in it ; £ 0 in Gold, and 15s. in Silver. Supposed by a man, 26 years of age, 6 feet 8j inches high, light build, light brown hair, sandy whiskers and beard, which he has recently began to cultivate, light complexion, blue eyes, and D on left side ; dressed in grey light cloth blouse, dark grey small ribbed cloth waistcoat, cotton cord trousers, white calico shirt, red necktie, and old black cloth cap with peak ; he is an iron moulder. He stated that he was a native of Graniham, Lincolnshire, that he was in the Metropolitan Police one year and ten months iu 18 8 9, and stmioned at Islington all the time ; was in the Tower Hamlets Militia in 1864, and the Grenadier Guards the same year ; that he recently worked at his trade with Calvert, York, Samuelson, Hull, and Watson, Kinon- in Lin- ey, Lin- colnshire. He had with him a black cloth coat with figured silk lining. He was discharged from Louth Prison, Lincoln- shire, on the 26th ultimo, having been committed for two months for telony at Great Grimsby, in the name of GEORGE FROST. Information to be given to Superintendent Woolven, County Police Station, Louth, Lincolnshire. — Bow- street, March 4. On the night of the 25th ultimo, the house of James Barnes, innkeeper, ' Black Horse' inn, Battle, Sussex, was burglariously tn tred, and the following property stolen there- from : a pink striped woollen Shiit, nearly new, a small piece of Bread and Bacon, about J pint of Brandy, 3s in silver, and about 2s. in copper Coins ; the shirt can be identified. Infor- mation to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes, or to Deputy Chief Constable Thompson, Court House, Battle, Sussex.— Bow- street, March I. Stolen, by means of housebreaking, between 6 and 8 p. m. on the 24th instant, at Ironbridge, a gold Watch, maker Baker, Salop, black ribbon with gold Seal, engraved ' T. J ,' attached. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Richardson, Wellington, or at the Police Station, Ironbridge, Salop.— Bow- street, February 27. Between the hours of 10 p. m. on the 16th, and 6 a. m. on 116th instant, the dwelling- house of Joseph Stubberfield at Shalmsfordstreet, Chatham, Kent, was burglariously broken and entered and tbe following property stolen therefrom : a pair of nailed lace up B iots, a flag Brsket, 2s. in silver, about Is. 6d. in copper, and a quantity of provisions. During the night of the 2oth instant, the workshop of Frederick Waddington, shoemaker, of Castleford, was entered, and the following property stolen therefrom : a pair of men's strong watertight Boots on lasts, marked ' No. 8 ;' a pair of ditto, closed ready tor lasts, and bottoms stuffed, marked ' No. 9;' four pairs of men's light lace- up Boots, pegged on lasts, marked ' Nos. 6, 6, 7, and 9 ;' a pair ot boy's lace- up Boots, on lasts, marked ' No. 1,' large nails in heels ; a pair of woman's lace- up Boots, on las' 8, marked ' No. 6 ;' a pair of woman's lace up Tops and Bottoms marked ' No. 3;' the above boots, < fco., were in au unfinished state, and are marked in ink on the tops inside. Also ihree Hammers ( two of them marked ' No. 2'), five pairs of Pincers ( one marked ' No. 2,' and one ' No. 4 '), a last Hook, two forepart Irons, a Breaker, a pegging Awl, an American ditto, a pair of Nippers, a women's sewing Awl, a glazing Iron, a Knife, two Irons, three Awls, and a seat File; the above are s oemaker's tools. A man of the following description was seen on tbe same night loitering near the premises: about 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, pale complexion, grey eyes, and light brown hair; is a collier by trade, aud belongs to the 1st West York Militia. Between the hours of 12 p. m. of the 21st and 6 a. m. of the 22ud instant, the dwelling house of W. Kaye, E q, of Coryton- park, Kilmington, was broken and entered, and a pair of silver Su.; ar Tongs ( marked ' E. C.') stolen. On the evening of the 21st instant, a dwelling- house in Sandrock- ro .< 1, Tunbridge- Wells, was entered and the following articles of j- wellery stolen : 2 Rings, large diamonds set in gold, one has the gold cut through. 3 embossed eold Ring, very handsome, with antique female head. • 1 ruby Ring, set in diamonds, half hoop, Indian gold. 1 coral half hoop Ring, Indian gold. 1 tuiquoise Ring wnh hair at back. 1 pearl Rmg, 6et. in Gold. 1 gold Ring, with the following stones to form the word • Regard,' a ruby, emerald, garnet, amethyst, ruby, and diamond, aud an amethyst in centre with a flaw in it. 2 bracelet Clasps, one has a picture of ' Runjeet Sing' on it, and the other th • ' Court of Delhi.' 1 pair ot gold Bracelets formed by fine chains and clasps. A set of peaT Ear- rings, two stars and a chain on each. 2 pairs tuiquoise ditto, one Indian setting and one English. 1 pair of Indian gold Ear- rings, filagree, with three domes. 1 lady's gold Geneva Watch, • E. C. O.' on the back, gold dial. 1 enamelled gold Thimble, with a French inscription. 2 Brooches set in pearls and hair, with the words 4 Anne Owen' on the back, and date. 1 large gold Brooch with hair. A gold chased Locket, with * Harry' engraved inside. A gold Ring with hair all round, aud initials ' H. B. O.' A gold Ring with Portuguese writing. 1 enamelled gold L" ck- t. 2 hair Lockets handsomely set in pearls, one Indian setting wiih old cut in leaves round it. A puzzle Ring, consisting of several small gold rings. A small gold lyre- shaped Brooch with hair round ir. A small Brooch with serpent round it, and hair and date at back. On the night of the 16th instant, the house of Thomas Morris, beerhouse keeper, Wentnor, in the county of Salop, was burglariously entered, and the following property stolen therefrom: a bro - vn and black mixture cloth sack Overcoat, pockets at the sides, in one of them was a pair of light blue home knitted woollen Gloves, cuffs on the sleeves, black covered buttons, the lining of the back and front of different ; coloured plaid ; 1 p « ir of strong nailed lace- up Boots, men's size, have been soled, and lately repaired with large nails on the outside each heel; 1 pair of men's woollen Stockings, red and blue mixture; 1 dark green cotton Umbrella, whalebone frame, the haudle rather short; the whole of which can be identified, if found. Information to be given to Sergeant Lear, Police Station, Bishops Castle, Salop. — Bow- street, February 25. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen from Newbury Marsh, on the 22nd ultimo, a black Pony, aged, white face, long mane, short tail, and in low con- dition. Information to be given to Superintendent Deane, Borough Police, Newbury, Berks.— Bow- street, March 4. Supposed to have been stolen from Little Frenstone Farm, South Molton, between the 23rd and 25th ultimo, a wether hog Sheep, marked ' T. Absconded from Marston Maisey, on tho 9th ultimo, charged with stealing two sides ot Bacon and various other articles, the property of George Hewer, EDWIN WALKER, he is about 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, round features, hair cut short, 111 whiskers ; is by tra'e an engineer. He was accump^ bieil by Hannah Hewer, who is about 50years of age, about o feet 4 Inches high. They are supposed to be in London, Walker having a sister living at No. 3, Avenue- terrace, Hammersmith. Description of HENRY WATTS, who escaped from Constable Taylor, on the lot instant, when in custody upon a charge of felony : about 23 years of age, C feet 7 or 8 inches h: h, fair complexion, brown hair, no whiskers, downcast appearance, and dit- ssed in a dark coat and vest, dark mixture trousers, leafier leggings, lace- up boots, and old black bowler hat. with blue ribbon round it ( when lint seen, had an old white slop o er his coat). D- ncription of ROBERT JACKSON, charged ( with THOMAS WIGGET, who is in custody and remanded till the 4' h . ant, at New Radnor), with stealing four bushels of Wheat from a granary at Llanweney, in the borough of Radnor, the property of James Owens, on the night of the 21st ultimo : Jackson is about 60 years of age, 6 feet high ; dressed in old coiduroy ' rousers, old waistcoat with sleeves, long mole- akin jacket with pockets outside, black billycock hat, and strong lace- up shoes. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Massey, Presteign ; to Superintendent Constance, Peny- bont; or to Police Constable Weale, New Radnor, Radnorshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, March 1. Absconded from Towyn, Merioneth, during the night of the 26th ultimo, charged with stealing the following property from his lodgings: a pilot cloth monkey Jack- t, pockets out- tide with flaps, one inside breast pocket, lined with plaid flannel ; a pair of navvy Boots, very high legs, nearly new ; a white Slop, with band round the bottom ; a Muffler, red border; a red aod white Pocket Handkerchief; a fine white Shirt, button behind ( all men's size),— a tramping navvy, about 6 teet 9 or 10 inches high, fresh complexion, short light hair, soldier- like appearance, lefr hand has recently gathered Oil the back and is not quite heahd ; dressed in fustian trousers and the stolen property. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Roberts, Aberdovey, Merioneth.— Bow- street, March 1. Absconded from Ipswich, charged with stealing an Over- coat ( which has sine- been recovered), the property of Abraham Pawsey : THOMAS RATCLIFFE, a blacksmith by trade, 22 years of age, 6 feet C inches high, dark hair, sallow complexion, and no whiskers ; dressed in an old brown cloth coat, black trousers, a pair of light canvas trousers drawn over the same, and black bowler hat very narrow in the brim. Information to be given to Head Constable Mason, Town Hall, Ipswich, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, March Description of GEORGE CRIDDLE, a journeyman haker, who has absconded, charged with embezzling £ 5, the monies of Mr. Thomas Gow, baker, Bristol: 22 years ofage, but looks about 18, 6 feet 6 « r 6 inches hu ll, rather paid com- plexion, no w hiskers, closes IUB eyes a little when laughing, speaks lather thick, boil on the back ot neck, and rather simple look ; he is a native of Castle Cary, Sumeiset, and has worked at Richmond, Surrey ; dressed in a dark mixture eoat and vest, light woollen cord trousers, snd Scotch cap. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Handcock, Bristol, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Feb. 27. Further information respecting the robbery of Wearing Apparel from the dwelling- house of Thomas Dobson, of Ouzlewell Green, labourer, on the 20th, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 22nd instant: a man who gives his name as PATRICK COSTELLO, alias COSGROVE, was apprehended iu Leeds on the evening of the 22nd instai t; he is about 28 year3 of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, stoutly build ; dressed in cloth cap with peak, blue pilot cloth jacket with pockets outside, vest, tbe stolen trousers, and blucher boots ; he is a native of county Mayo, Ireland, and says he is a traveller, but looks like an engine driver or sailor.
