Absconded from Bishopswood, in the parish of Otterford, in the couuty of Somerset, four men, charged with night poaching, on the grounds of the Right Honourable Viscount Sidmoutb, in the parish of Up Ottery, on the 28th ultimo, and wounding John Halford and John Hoskeus, gamekeepers, • with intent to do grievous bodily harm, and for whose appre- hension warrants have been granted : WILLIAM WILLIE, about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, well made, fresh complexion, brown hair and whiskers under the chin ; dressed in an old speckled coat, fustian trou.- ers, and lace- up boots ; is a quarryman. He has been previously convicted, and is a returned convict. WILLIAM WELSH, about 26 years of age. 5 feet 8 inches high, red chubby face, stout built, dark hair, and little whiskers ; dressed in an old velveteen jacket, corduroy trousers, and lace- up hoots ; is also a quarryman. JOHN EVERY, about 2(> years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, very d- irk hair aud whiskers, fresh complexion ; dressed in fustian jacket and trousers, and lace- up boots ; is also a quarry- man. ' These three men generally work at Lime Quarries. HENRY DOBLE, about 18 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, brown hair, and dirty appearance ; dressed in old fustian jacket and trousers, or he may be wearing a white slop ; is a native ot Up Ottery, Devon. Three of the men were seen going towards Taunton, on the 28th ultimo. A reward of .£ 50 is offered to be paid to any person giving such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of such of the offenders, as are not yet in custody, on appli- cation to Mr. William Kitch, Bailiff, Up Ottery. Information to be given to Superintendent Dore, Devon County Constabulary, Police Station, Honiton, or to Sergeant Ackford, who holds warrants for their apprehension.— Bow- street, De- cember 7. FORGERY. Absconded from South Shields on the 7th instant, and for whose apprehension warrants have been issued, three men of the following description, charged with forging a cheque for JE43, purporting to be drawn by J. Davis and Co., aud payable to M. Cohen aud Co., at the Yorkshire Banking Co., at Hull, and also another cheque lor £ 84 lis., purporting to be drawn by W. Perkins and Co., payable to M.. Cohen and Co., at the bank ot Messrs. Tweedy, Williams, and Co., Falmouth : One gives the name of CAPT. STROMSTEAD, from 40 to 46 years of » ge, 6 feet 8 or 9 inches high, stout figure, full face, olive complexion, large dark beard and whiskers ; dressed in dark clothes and black hat. Another, M. COHEN, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, slender figure, fair complexion, dark eyes, promi- nent nose, printed chin, sandy hair and moustache, and ot Jewish appearance. The other, — COHEN, 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, slender figure, dark complexion, black curly hair, no whiskers or moustache, prominent nose, pointed chin, and of Jewish appearance. They have iu their possession books of cheques upon the Hull Banking Co., Smith, Brothers, bankers, Hull, the Grimsby Branch of the Hull Banking Co., Lambton and Co., North Shields, Dale, Young, and Co., South Shields, and National Provincial Bank of England, South Shields. They took an office in King- street, South Shields, on the 26th ultimo, under the style or firm of M. Cohen and Co., ship brokers. During the night of the 16th instant, the parish church of Bentley, near Alton, was broken and entered, and the fol- lowing property stolen from the vestry : an old Looking Glass, 14 in. by 10 in., and an old Bilk Waist Scarf. Entrance was effected by breaking a window at the back of the church, and forcing out the iron bars with a strong wooden rail, which was left iu the churchyard. Further particulars respecting the robbery at Fair Oak, in the parish of Bishopstoke, Hants, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 28th October last : a man named WILLIAM. MARTIN, of Acton, in the county of Middlesex, is charged with being concerned in the robbery, against whom a warrant has been issued, he is about fi feet 3 inches high, light moustache, thin whiskers inclin- d to be sandy and worn under chin, is a tramping navvy ; dressed in a coarse light coloured old cloth coat with two pockets, light vest, and old dark trousers; was last seen in the neighbourhood of Newbury, Berks. Information to be given to Superintendent Everett, Hants Constabulary, Winchester, who holds a warrant for bia apprehension.— Bow- street, December 17. Stolen by means of housebreaking, on the 16th instant, the property of J. G. Tollington, of Strattord- on- Avon : £ 3 in Gold, a black frock Coat, a caineo Brooch, a gold Ring, set with one ruby and two diamonds, and a gold Pin. Supposed by a man, 25 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high ; dressed in black coat, light trousers, and black hat. Information to be given to Inspector Rawlings, Stratford- on- Avon.— Boio- strect, December 17- During the night of the 13th instant, the dwelling- house of John Jones, of the parish of Llanfair, was burglariously entered, and 8 Sovereigns and 6 half Sovereigns stolen there- from : a tramp of the following description was seen on the previous day at a barn within halt a mile of the house where the robbery was committed, and traced from the said barn to the house, about 40 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, black whiskers, swarthy complexion, slender built; dressed in a rough seal skin over coat, much faded, cotton cord trousers, round crown hat, check shirt, and shoes much worn about the fore parts. During the night of the 11th instant, the dwelling- house of Francis Robinson, of Stockton- on- Tees, was burglariously entered and the following property stolen therefrom : 1 black cloth Coat, two buttons behind, one inside breast pocket, and two pockets in laps behind ; 1 black cloth Vest, with roll collar and watch pocket in left side ; 1 pair of black cloth Troust- rs, with fly fronts ; 1 pair of cream colour Trousers, with small puce spots on them ; 1 pair ot woollen iweed Trousers ; 1 black silk Vest; 2 black cloth Vests ; 2 black Shawls, with black fringe ; 1 black silk Cape ; 1 black stuff Dress, plain waist, with rush down the front and plaited round the botton ; 1 black silk quilted Skirt, with piece of stuff down the front; 1 pair of pale green quilted Skirts ; 1 black silk Cloak ; 2 baby's long cotton GOWDS, one unfinished ; 2 holland Aprons; 3 cotton Sheets ; 3 cotton Pillow Cases; 1 flinnel body Skirt; 2 women's night Gowns ; 3 night Caps ; 1 woollen plaided Shawl, black and white ; 2 cotton Shirts with linen fronts. Information to be given to Superintendent Booth, County Constabulary, Stockton- on- Tees, Durham.— Bow- strut, December 14. Between the hours of 6 30 and 7' 30 p. m. on the 9th inst., a dwelling- house at Hessay, in the West Riding of Yorkshire, was entered in the absence of the family at church, by breaking a pane of glass and unfastening the window, and two ten pound Bank of Englaud Notes ; two five pound Notes, one of Messrs. Clough and S warm's Bauk of York ; and six Sovereigns, were stolen theiefrom. The thief or thieves must have cut their hands as blood was found on the broken glass and window sill. Supposed to have been committed by two navvies who were seen ing- house of Mr. John Steele, draper, of the 6th instant, an entrance being . ur window which was left unfastened, erty stolen : a piece of black Cloth, from o w iv jama , piece of light grey Cloth, from 7 to 8 yards long ; a piece of blue broad Cloth, yards long ; a piece of brown mixture Cloth, 2| yards long ; a piece of black silk Facing, If yard long ; and a piece of grey Calico, 10 yards long. Between 7 p. m. on the 6th and 12 30 a. m. on the 9th instant the dwelling- house of James Taylor, of Rivelin, in the township of Bradfield, was entered, and the following pro- perty stolen : thirteen Sovereigns; four Half- sovereigns j a German silver Watch, with ' Mary Ann Stanley, the gift of her affect ionate uncle and aunt' engraved on the cap; 12} yards of black Silk; 4 yards of white Calico; a plain gold Ring; a gold keeper Ring, octigon pattern, marked with crown and cross ; aud a Norfolk- street Sheffield, Savings' Bank Book, belonging to James Taylor, with entries amounting to £ 30. Information to be given to Superintendent Gillett, Court House, Rotherham, Yur k shii e.- Bom- street, December 12. Found on the 29th ultimo, and Bupposed to havo besa stolen, at Enville, in the county of Stafford, a dark brown half- bred Mare, 15 hands high, aged, with a little straw plaited in her tail, and in rather low condition. Information to be given to Sergeant Baldwin, Police Station, Euville, near Stourbridge, Stafford.— Bow- street, December 12. Between 11 p. m. on the 9th and 5 a. m. on the 10th inst., the dwelling- house and beershop, No. 43, Great Bolton- street, Blackburn, was burglariously entered, and the following pro- perty stolen therefrom: a blue pilot Shooting Coat, pockets behind, lined with brown winsey ; a green and black woollen Neck Scarf; a red and black woollen ditto; and a man's elastic- side Boot for left foot, much worn, the property of Michael Townley. The dwelling- house at No. 41, Great Bolton- street, was similarly entered during the same iii,: ht, and the following property * olen therefrom: a light drab Over Coat, black velvet collar, dark coloured horn buttons, pockets behind, and one outside left breast, lined with drab alpaca, large size; a pair of elastic- side Boots, newly soled and new elastic, men's size ; two brown alpaca Umbrellas; a boy's blue Over Coat; a light silk Handkerchief, with blue border; a Neck Scarf, with black spots; and a black alpaca Coat, one inside breast pocket and one outside ditto, the property of Mr. Thomas Summersgill. The thieves are supposed to be wearing the stolen property, as they left the following clothes behind them: a heather- coloured cloth shooting coat, newly sleeve 1, black buttons, lined through with brown mixture cloth ; a light tweed ditto, lined with light alpaca, light horn buttons, very much worn; and an elastic- side Boot for the right foot, upper leather cut as if it had been too smal, imitation lace in front, has been soled, men's size. Three men and a womsn of the following descrip- tion were seen at a public- house near to the houses where the robberies were committed, and are suspected: one man is about 40 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, with dark whiskers; the other two are about 25 years of age, and about 5 feet 7 inches high ; the woman is about 30 years of age, fresh complexion, sandy hair, and brown shawl over her head. Information to be given to Chief Constable Potts, Town Hall, Blackburn, Lancashire.— Bow- street, December 12. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Supposed to have been stolen, from a field at Beck Tide, Brampton, between the 7th and 9th instant, 6 grey- faced tup Lambs, and 1 black- faced twe Sheep, marked ' 0' on the near side. Information to be given to Superintendent Fowler, Brampton, or at the Couuty Chief Constable's Office, Carlisle. — Bow- street, December 17. Further particulars respecting the Horse and dog Cart advertised in the Police Gazette of the 21st ultimo: the person who obtained them was seen leaving Worcester having in the dog cait with him a young woman: dressed in black crape bonnet, black strings, imitation paisley shawl, and it is now supposed that they are cloth hawkers, and may use the horse and dog cart travelling from town to town,— Bow- street, Dec. 17.
