Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the pur- pose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to jj^ e POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to MR. Whenever it is desired that any person shouVd be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with * he Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all betters addressed to the Editor enust toe prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of X) eserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his - authority. INFORMATIONS MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Description of a man found dead, supposed to have been murdered, at Seabrook, near Sandgate, Kent, at 10- 30 p. m. on the 26th ultimo : 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches long, stout make, dark brown beard and moustache, high fore- head, and of respectacle appearance ; dressed in dark coat, overcoat, and vest, grey tweed trousers, cotton shirt with pink spots, plated Bleeve- links, new side- spring boots, French make, white cotton Socks, marked ' O. L.' in red cotton, and cambric handkerchief, same mark ; all the clothing appeared nearly new ; had in his possession a silver Geneva Watch, No. 17642 — C981, a platinum albert Chain, a large Latch- key, and several pieces of French and . English Money, some in a purse, and some loose in his pockets. He is supposed to be a Frenchman, or to have recently travelled in France, as he had several French railway time tables with him. The body appeared to have been in the water but a few hours, there were bruises on each side of the temples, and on the bridge of the nose, which were quite fresh and bleeding when found, and the body was not stiff when taken from the water. The above gentleman stayed at the Alexandra Hotel, Folkestone, the night previous to his death, and left about 10 a. m. tp visit Shorncliffe Camp ; he was seen at Sandgate during the evening, in company with two females. Description of a man named THOMAS DELANEY, charged with the manslaughter of Michael McLoughlin, on the 8th iustaut, at Wolverhampton : about 25 years of age, 6 feet 7 inches high, dark brown hair ; dressed in dark cloth coat, cord or moleskin trousers, and dark cloth cap ; has worked as a labourer in ironworks ; he was traced to Bilston, where he slept at a common lodging house on the night of the 8th, and left for . Birmingham on the morning of the 9th instant. Inf - mation to be given to Captain Segrave, Chief Constable, V^'^;? rhampton. — Bow- street, October 2£. / jaSON AND WILFUL BURNING On the night of the 19th ultimo, certain farm buildings at Lea Newbold, Chester, were set on fire and a quantity of hay destroyed. A reward of £ 20 vi ill be paid to any person or persons not being the actual offender, who will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. FORGERY- Description of WILLIAM TAYLOR CRONK, charged on a warrant with forgery in the month of September last, about 28 years of age, 6 leet 10 inches high, rather pale com- plexion, dark brown hair, very small light whiskers, pro- portionate make ; generally dressed in a small check suit and high hat. Information to be given to Superintendent Dance, Police Court, Tunbridge, Kent.— Bow street, November 5. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person at Warminster Fair, on the 27th instant, a Cheque for £ 63, payable to bearer, at Wilts and Dorset Bank, Salisbury, from Galpin to Wilson ; also a Cheque for £ 62, payable to bearer, at Wilts and Dorset Bank, Devizes, from Atkins to Wilson. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Abbott, Wilts Constabulary, Warminster.— Bow- street, October 31. BURGLARY" AND SOUSE BREAKING. Description of GEORGE SUMMERS, charged with bur- glary at Stroud on the night of the 24th ultimo, with another man committed for trill at the next assizes to be holden at Gloucester : about 24 years of age, 6 feet 4 or 6 inches high, round features, light hair, small sandy whiskers, has worked as a bricklayer or bricklayers labourer ; dressed in a black monkey jacket, cord or moleskin trousers and jim- crow hat. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Hanbridge, Stroud, Glouces- tershire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November 5. Between 10 p. m. on the 25th and G a. m. on the 26th inst., the dwelling house of Henry Hinton, in the parish of Leigh, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therefrom: a plain made dark grey cloth Jacket, 6 lbs. of Cheese, 10 lbs. of Bacon, two and a half Loaves of home made bread, and a quantity of hen's Eggs. Supposed by a man about 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 6 inches high, stout made ; dressed in an old black cloth cap, dirty short slop, and old moleBkin trousers ; a native of Bringsty Common, near Brom- yard, Herefordshire. He is supposed to he a ticket of leave, information to be given to Superintendent Neckett, Upton- on- Severn, or to Acting Inspector Turner, Great Malvern.— Bow- street, October 31. On the night of the 29th or morning of the 30th instant, the house of R. J. Furbridge, Esq., the • Greenway,' Shurding- ton, near Cheltenham, was burglariously entered, and the following articles stolen : a Coffeepot, a Teapot to match, a round° ditto, two Sauce Ladles, a Toast Rack, two Cream Jugs, a pint Mug (' Siege of Damascus, 1730'), two Decanter Stands ( wooden bottoms), an open- work sugar basin Frame, two small Waiters, a Soup Ladle, four Sauce Ladles, four Salt Spoons, five Egg Spoons ( crest— hawk belled, and motto ' En avant,' over), and two Sugar Tongs— all silver ; a Fish Slice and Fork, heavy ; two Gravy Spoons ; Top of cayenne bottle and Spoon ; and a Butter Knite. £ 50 reward will be given to any person or persons who shall give such information as will lead to the recovery of the property and the apprehension of the offenders. Information to be given to the Deputy Chief Constable, Police Office, Cheltenham.— Bow- street, Odder 31. Between 12 p. m. the 27tli, and 8 a. m. the 29th instant, the Mechanics' Institution in Bolton was broken and entered by a back window, and a gold prize Medal ( about the size of a crown piece), and about 20s. worth of Postage Stamps, stolen therefrom : on one side of medal is inscribed • National Prize in Science, awarded by the Science and Art Department,' and on the other Bide * Victoria by the Grace of God,' and on the edge ' George Mason, Theoretical Mechanics, 1866.' There were also three lockup shops broken and entered adjoining the above Institution about the same time, and the following property stolen therefrom: a dark reddish brown Russia leather Purse with gilt line round the border, gilt clasp, and ivory tablet inside ; 3s. 6d. in Copper ; and a number of Receipt and Postage Stamps. Information to be given to Chief Constable Harris, BOHOD, Lancashire.— Bow- street, October 31. Description of WILLIAM HENRY and ELIZABETH NELTHORPE, charged with breaking into the dwelling house of Charles Marshall, in the borough of Louth, and stealing therefrom a quantity of Furniture, Jewellery, Wearing Apparel, Musical Instruments, and other articles, most of which are recovered : he is 40 to 45 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, light brown hair, whiskers and small moustache, broad flat nose, and peculiar looking eyes ; dressed in a black cloth frock coat, and high hat, the wile 23 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, light brown hair, high forehead, large eyes, and is of simple appearance; they have with them a large Musical Box inlaid with pearl, playing 12 tunes, part of the stolen property. The man has been a sailor, quack doctor, railway signal maker, and several other occupations. Information to be given to Head Constable Roberts, Louth, Lincolnshire.— Bow- ttreet, Oct. 31. Between 11* 30 p. m. on the 24th and 3 a. m. on the 25th instant, some person burglariously entered the dwelling- house of Mr. William Gelson, No. 68, King William- street, Black- burn, and stole therefrom the following property : a dark blue doeskin cloth Overcoat, black silk velvet collar, bound at the edges with black cloth, black covered buttons, two pockets in seams at sides, one pocket in left breast, a ticket pocket in right side, a very heavy coat ; a grey rough cloth Overcoat, black and white striped lining, black covered buttons, three outside pockets and one inside left breast, a small hole burnt near the right pocket ; a pair of patent leather Leggings, reach above the knee in front, part worn, the glaze broken in places; and a pair of brown knitted MufFatees. Information to be given to Chief Constable Potts, Town Hall, Blackburn, Lancashire.— Bow- street, October 29. Stolen from the dwelling- house of Mrs. Jones, near Wrex- ham, on the night of the 26th or morning of the 27th instant, the following property : a black silk Dress, with two rows of crape round the bottom of the skirt; a black merino Dress, with one row of crape round the skirt about half a yard wide ; a black quilted Skirt ; a black merino Shawl; a box of Cigars ; J- lb. of Tobacco ; 1 lb. of Butter, a loaf of Bread, and some Beef. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Bradshaw, Wrexham, Denbighshire.— Bow- street, October 29. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Description of GEORGE LEWIS, charged with stealing a Mule, ( which has been recovered), from the parish of Pen- carreg, Carmarthenshire, en the 2nd ultimo; he is about 40 years of age, 6 feet 1 or 2 inches high, sallow complexion, light brown hair, sandy whiskers and moustache, and a native of Presteign, Radnorshire ; dressed in a dark brown cloth monkey jacket, moleskin trousers, navvy boots, and an old jim- crow hat; had in a bundle an old canvas frock or coat, with a good deal of needle work about the body, and a pair of long yellow sheepskin Overalls; was last seen on the 6th ultimo at Buck- nail, Shropshire, where he got rid of the mule. Is cenerally accompanied by one Sarah Vaughan, a native of Whitney, Herefordshire, who is about the same age as himself, very short, dark brown hair, small eyes which she keeps nearly closed and squints with both ; dressed in a black bonnet, dark cloak and clogs. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Carmarthen, or to Superintendent Phillips, Llandilo.— Bow- street, November 6. Supposed to have been stolen from a field in Babcary, the property of Mr. Creed, a dark faced twc ooth ewe Sheep, marked on near pin and hip with C in a ci le. On or about the 30th September las hree yearling Heifer Calves, one a light roan, another a di > an and t. l: n other a red colour, the , roperty of Kr. F - Danby, of Middleham, Kilham, were stolen from his premises. A reward of £ 6 will be paid by the Kilham Association for the Prosecu- tion of Felons, and £ 5 by Mr. Danby, to any person who will give such information to Mr. Danby, or to Superintendent Young, Driffield, as shall lead to the apprehension and convic- tion of the offender or offenders.— Bow- street, November 6. Supposed to have been stolen on the night of the 27th ultimo, from a meadow in the parish of Rushford, Suffolk, the property of Mr. Willliam Elliott, farmer, a 2- year iron- grey Mare, two bay and one chesnut 1- year old Fillies; also, at the same time, a bay Horse, 4 years old, 16 hands 2J inches high, a white mark near one of the hind fetlocks, and the tail cut square at the hocks, the property of Mr. Robert West, of Ttietford.' They were all without shoes when taken away. Information to be given to Inspector Rust, Thetford, or to Superintendent Durrant, Ixworth, Suffolk,— Bow- street, No- vember fi. Further particulars respecting the Hone stolen from Wititoft, on the night of the 29th ultimo: a dark brown haif- bred Mare, aged, 15J hands high, black legs, not a white fetlock ( as advertised in the Police Gazette of the 31st ultimo), hair rubbed over the hocks, in moderate condition. A man, of the following description, was riding the mare on the fol- lowing morning, going in the direction of Birmingham: about 50 years of age, stout built; dressed in light long coat and high crowned bat, and was carrying a flag basket. Supposed to be the man who was in company of JOHN LINDON, who is charged with stealing two horses from Barkstone, Leicester- shire, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 5th ultimo, Information to be given to Superintendent J, Wild, Rugby, Warwickshire.— Bow- strut, November 5. Left at an inn at Rugby, on the morning of the 4th ultimo, a bay cob mare Pony, aged, about 14 hands high, near hind fetlock white, small white Btar on forehead, saddle marked ; had on a good saddle marked 1C. W. No, 90' under flap, a chin snaffle bit marked on bit ' Hickman.' The above pony was left by a youth, about 16 years of age. A letter was received by the landlord, dated London, October 8tb, signed ' Jas. Buchanan,' requesting him to take great care of the pony, and give her two feeds of corn a- day, as he could not come to Rugby till Thursday ; since which nothing has been heard. The pony is supposed to have been stolen. Information to be given to Superintendent Wild, Rugby, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, November 6. Supposed stolen from New Mills, Derbyshire, on the night of the 30th ultimo, a bay Pony, 11 or 12 hands high, about 10 yearB old, no hair on back where the saddle has been, and if singed or clipped the letter' H.' will be found on the right Bhoulder. Whoever will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the pony, shall receive £ 1 reward. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Hudson, Chapel- en- le- Frith, or to Sergeant Swallow, New MIIIB, Derbyshire.— Bow- itreet, November 5. Supposed to have been stolen from a field at Whitfield, near Dover, between the 29th and 31st ultimo, a Kent ewe Sheep and a Kent Lamb, marked ' IS' in red paint. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Stokes, Kent Constabu- lary, Sandwich.— Bow- street, November 5, Supposed to have been stoleD, on the 28th ultimo, from a field in the Shireland- road, Edgbaston, Birmingham, a dark bay Horse, about 15 hands 3 inches high, vwhite on hind feet, and a white mark on the face. Whoever has found the same, and will return it to Mr. Morgan, Shireland Hall Farm, or to Mr. Broad, Augustus- road, will receive £ 10 reward, if stolen, and if strayed, all expenses will be paid. Supposed to have been stolen from a field at Cadonton, near Neath, Glamorgan, on the 26th ultimo, two Mares of the following description: one a bright bay, aged, about IS hands high, dark legs, star in forehead, switch tail, one of the fore and one of the hind legs strained a little at the fetlock joint, in good condition; the other, a bright bay pony, aged, about 14 hands high, off hind leg white, long tail, small lump on knee of fore leg, in good condition. They are supposed to have been travelling for shout three months with a bay cob gelding, about 14 hands high, face and nose partly white, saddle marks aud hind legs white, short tail, knees damaged, about 7 years old, in low condition, is a good goer ; a very good Smithfield cart, high on the springs, painted brown, picked out wiih red; supposed to have been stolen at or near Sheffield. A man of the following description is committed for trial, charged with obtaining money under false pretences, and is strongly suspected to have committed other offences between the 3rd July and 24th ultimo, probably in the neighbourhood of Peterborough, Spalding, and northern parts of the Isle of Ely ; he would seek temporary employment with threshing machines, and when apprehended on the 24th instant, at Peter- borough, he had a Spalding railway ticket upon him, which he had not delivered up at the station He has the appearance of an Irish labourer, but is a native of Cowlinge, Sufiulk, 28 years of age, 5 feet 3£ inches high, rather stoutly made, fresh com- plexion, brown eyes, red hair and whiskers, and of plausible address; dressed in a round fustian jacket with short white slop over, lightly made fustian trousers, and an old cloth cap ; he would commit felonies or acts of housebreaking.
