Description of a man who is charged with murdering his son, at No. 15, Neals- passage, Great Earl- street, Seven dials, on the morning of the 30 h ultimo : JOHN RICH. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON- Further information respecting the Watch stolen from the person of Robert Williams, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 23rd instxnt : Supposed by SAMUEL SCOTT, at. out 30 years of age, about 6 teet 7 inches high, light hair, and sandy Wlns- kers; dressed in a brown pilot jacket, moleskin or cord trousers, and black billycock hat. Bow- street, July 30. in Gold, a pair of black cloth Trousers, a pair of shepherd's plnid ditto, a pair of Bedford cord Breeches, two black Coats with pockets outside, a black Hat with very Bsmall rim, a black silk Skirt, a variegated Paisley Shawl, a shepherd's plaid Dress Piece, a black shiny Bag ( torn at bottom), a patent leather ditto, six lineu Shirts, two pairs of calico Sheets, two pairs of linen ditto, a large silver Albert Chain, made in the same style as steel ones, and C lbs. of loaf Sugar. Information to be given to Inspector Ryder, Herts Constabulary, Bishop Stortford.— Bow- street, Autjust 3. Between 10- 30 and 12 p. m. on the 27th nit., the dwelling- house of Thomas Smith, of Staunton Harrold, Leicestershire, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therefrom : a plain single- case verge Watch, opens at the back, Roman figures, No. 7960, has a silver albert Chain attached, with a silver Pencil- key, which is split at one end, and has a yellow stone at the other ; also a man's red and brown plaid woollen Shirt. Information to given o Inspector Ward, County Constabulary Station, Ashby- de- la- Zouch, Leicester- shire.— Bow- street, August 1. During the night of the 26th ultimo, the dwelling- house of Mr. Betteridge, a farm in the village of Harwell, Berks, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therefrom : a dozen silver plated Dessert Knives, white ivory handles, fluted round the edges ; a dozen silver plated Dessert Forks ; a black japanned Snuff Box, round and flat, has the head of a man v ith a very long beard painted on lid ; a small Pocket Knife, about 3 inches long, buck- horn handle, and two small blades. Supposed by a man of the following description : about 28 or 30 years of age, 6 feet 7 or 8 inches high, rather dark complexion, brown hair, and small brown whiskers; dressed in a light brown slop or jacket, or a dark cloth coat, which he occasionally carries on his arm when walking, light tro- i- ers, and black dudley hat ; has a piece of composite candle in his possession. I Also on the night of the 25th ultimo, the dwelling- house of Mr. James Hutchings, in the village of Harwell, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therefrom : five silver Tea Spoons, two of them marked ' 11.,' one ' T.' or * P.' ; a quart Decanter, containing currant wine ; a briar- root Tobacco Pipe, bone tube, a small hole worn through the tube by the teeth. Information to be given to Superintendent O'Neill, Constabu- lary Station, Wantage, Berks.— Bow- street, August 1. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Supposed to have been stolen during the night of the 28th ultimo, from a field on Church Settle Farm.| Wadhurst, Sussex, a half breed southdown teg or wether Sheep. Information to be given to Superintendent Bennett, Uckfield, Sussex, or at any Police Station in East Sussex.— Bow- street, August 6. Stolen from Sealand, Chester, on tbe evening of the 2nd instant, a black Mare, 4 years old, about 15 hands 1 inch high, white star on forehead, long mane and tail, sand cracks burnt on fore feet, hair rubbed off mane by collar. She was traced to Liverpool the following morning, in the possession of a man having the appearance of a labourer. £ 5 reward will be paid BURGLARY AND BOUSE BREAKING. Between 6 and ( i am. on the 3rd instant, the house of Robert Roberts, ot Penrybontmelin Rhug, in the parish of on the conviction ot the offender or offenders, and recovery Cor wen, was entered, aud the following property stolen there- ° J. the Mare- Information to be given to the City Police, from: a dark grey oioih Ov^ icoat, nearly new, with a slit behind, trimmed with black twist buttous, two pockets outside and one outside left breast, and two behind, sleeves lined with black silk, and the back with a hairy skin similar to a fox or • wolf skin ; some Bread. Between and 8 p. m. on the 4th instant, the house of Mr. Leet, Chester, was entered, and the following property stolen : three silver Table Spoons, two electro- plated Dessert SpOons, two ditto Forks, four ditto large Forks, and one ditto Gravy Spoon ; they are all marked ' L.' Information to be given to the City Police, Chester.— Bow- street, August G. Stolen from a cottage a: Olveston, Gloucestershire, on the 21st ultimo, between 8 and 11 a. m., by forcing open the front door : a dark mixture tweed Jacket, man's size, stout cloth, nearly new, lined with dark lining, pockets on hips outside, four- holed horu or hone buttons ; a black cloth Vest, about half worn ; a yellow cotiou Handkerchief, with white spots in the shape of a diamond ; and 3s. 6d. ; the property of Mark Symonds, a labourer. Two tramps are suspected, of middle stature, and from 30 to 40 years of age : one dressed in fustain trousers with patches of a lighter colour on knees, and a grey woollen shirt with a patch on one sleeve of a different material; the other, supposed tustain jacket and trousers, much worn. Information to be given to Superintendent Ellison, Chipping sodbury, or to Sergeant George Tingle, Police Station, Red- wick New Passage, Gloucestershire. — Bow- itrect. August 3. Absconded charged with housebreaking, at Whitford, on tbe 1st instant, a uian of the following description : from 60 to GO years of age, 6 feet 9 or 10 inches high, slender figure, Jong neck ; dressed in brown frock coat with brass buttons, pockets in the hips, cloth cap with French peak, goes about the country playing « clarionet, and has the appearance of an old soldier. Information to be given to Superintendent Adams, Holywell, North Wales.— Bow- street, August 3. Between the liou s of 2 and 8 p. m. on the 31st ultimo, a lodge, occupied by William Carr, at Little Hanham, was entered through tbe bedroom window, during the absence of the family, and the following property stolen therefrom : £ 36 Mare. Chester.— Bow- street, August 6. Supposed to have been stolen during the night of the 23rd ultimo, iiom the Mountain, near Bontyrafougam, in the parish of Festiniog, the property of J. Jones, of Fynewyddymynydd, a dark brown Horse, 4 years old, 14 hands high, white on the forehead extending to the nostrils, bandy hind legged, small saddle bruises on the back, and newly shod. Information to be given to Inspector Hughes, Bala, or to Police Constable Richards, Festiniog, Merionethshire.— Bow- street, August 3. Found, supposed stolen, at Llansaintffraidglynceiriog, a bay Mare, white feet, white stripe down face, little lame in the right fore leg, about 16 hands high ; a brown Pony, about 13 hands high, aged, in good c< ndition, a small white Btar on the forehead. Information to be given to Inspector Paterson, Llangollen, or to Police Constable ( No. 10) Robert Jones, Llan- sainttfraidglynceiriog, near Llangollen, Denbighshire.— Bow- street. August 3. Found straying at Chartham, near Canterbury, Kent, on the 28th June last, a small light brown gelding Donkey, right ear slit, short tail, no shoes on fore feet, in good condition. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Walker, Kent County Constabulary, Canterbury.— Bow- street, August 1. Supposed to have been stolen on the 23rd ultimo, from a field in Betcliton, in the occupation of Mr. Ralph Whittaker, a light bay Horse, about 12 years old, 16 bands high, long black tail, and has been blistered on both fore- legs. Information to be given to Superintendent Roubottom, Constabulary Station, Middlewich. or to Sergeant Hulme, Constabulary Station, Sandbach, Cheshire.— Bow- street, August 1. Supposed to have been stolen from a meadow in Tanyard- lane, Redhill, between the hours of 9 p. m. the 29th and 6 am. the 30th ultimo, a heavy cart Horse, 17 hands high, aged, strawberry colour, white face, and switch tail, the property of Henry Wesley, builder, Redhill. Information to be given to Superintendent Rogers, Borough Police, Reigate, Surrey.— Bow- street, August 1. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT Abscondod from Bishopstoke Station on the night of the 30th ultimo, WILLIAM WHITLOCK,, clerk on the South Western Railway, charged with embezzlement: he is about 20 years of age, 6 feet 9 or 10 inches high, fresh comple xion, dark hair, black bushy whiskers ; respectably dressed. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Stannard, Hants Con- stabulary, Bitterne, who holds a warrant for his apprehension,— — Bow- street, August 6. Stolen on the 31st ultimo, from No. 83, Gillingham- street, Pimlico : a black frock Coat; a ditto with silk lacings; a melton Coat; a pair of side- spring Boots; and a brown Bilk Umbrella. By two men : one, 30 years ot age, 6 feet 7 inches hi^ h, dark hair and whiskers, full round face; dressed in dark suit and black stitched bat: tbe other, 22 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion ; dressed in dark suit and low hat— Metropolitan Police, B Division, August 6. Absconded on tbe 30th ultimo, from No. 17, High- street, Islington, stealing ± 39 : a man, 30 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion and hair; dressed in black suit and hat. — Metropolitan Police, N Division, August 6. Description of LUKE PALEY, a native of Ripon, charged with stealing four Hams and a Sack from Mr. John Sayer, of Great Ayton ( two of the hams and the sack have been recovered): 28 to 30 years of age, 6 feet 7 or 8 inchet high, slender build, light brown hair, little or no whiskers, very much pockpitted ; dressed in a black velvet cap, fustian jacket, dark waistcoat, dark dyed worsted cord trousers burnt below one knee, and blucher boots very much worn. He is a notorious poacher, sleeps in out- houses, frequents low public- houses, and often in company with salt hawkers. Absconded on the 31st ultimo, from No. 1, Broadway, Middlesex- street, Whitechapel, stealing £ 12 10s.: a man, 21 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, sandy hair, blue eyes; dressed in violet coat, white vest, yellow cord trousers, black wide- avrckke, aud Police, H Division, August 6. Absconded from Middleton Iron Works, near West Hartle- pool, Durham, on the 2nd instant, JEFFERSON MATSON, timekeeper, charged with embezzling £ 13 5s. Id., belonging to the above Company : about 42 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, stout built, long black hair, bushy whiskers turning grey, dark eyes, florid complexion, red nose, and blotched face as if from drinking, eteps short and very light; dressed in black cloth coat, grey tweed trousers and vest, grey billycock hat with black band, and light blucher boots: is a native of Craig Hall, North Riding of Yorkshire. Absconded on the 30th ultimo, from the Boys' Home, Wandsworth, embezzling £ 3 5s.: a youth, 16 to 17 years of age, 5 feet 3^ inches high, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, dark eyes, robust figure; dressed in cord vest, fustian trousers, lace buots. and cap ; has an awkward gait— Metro- politan Police, V Division, August 3. Stolen on the 29th ultimo, from a public- house at Paddington : a dark green frcck Coat; a pair ol oxford mixture Trousers, worn at knees ; a black Scarf; and a gold Pin. By a man, 22 years of age, 6 feet 7 inches high, fair complexion,, large eyes, thin face ; dressed in black frock coat, light cord trousers fitting ti|< ht. lace boots, and black Scotch cap.— Metropolitan Police, X Division, August 3. Stolen on the 30th ultimo, from No. 39, Union- street, Somers- town, a mahogany, Box containing £ 8 in Gold and Silver. By a female, 14 years of age, 4 teet 10 inches high, fair complexion aud hair; dressed in black merino frock, black cloth jacket, black velvet hat and feather, white pearl ear- rings.— Metropolitan Police, Y Division, August 3. Absconded about the 20th June last, charged on a warrant with embezzlement, ROBERT MORRISON, 22 years of age, 6 feet 6 or 7 inches high, light complexion, brown hair; dressed in a blue pea jacket. Has a relative residing in Stirling. In- formation to be given to Inspector Harding, City ot London Police, Moor- lane, E. C.- Bow- street, August 3. Absconded from Brotton, near Saltburn- by- the- Sea, in the North Riding of Yorkshire, charged with stealing three Sovereigns from his lodgings, on the 31st ultimo, the property of Wm. Oldham, a mau who goes by the name of BRICKEY, 26 to 30 yeats of age 6 feet 0 or 7 inches high, rather dark complexion, brown hair, and whiskers of about ten days' growth, supposed to be a native of Nottingham; dressed in a dark cloth cap, dirty blue cloth sac coat with points of lap reaching nearly down to his knees, cotton cord trousers, and old blucher boots. He took the 1' 45 p. m. train from Saltburn in the direction of Darlington, and inquired how the trains run from there to Leeds. He is very fond of drink and low c m- pany. ROBERT RILEY CHADWICK, a clerk, who absconded from the borough of Rochdale on the 23rd of May last, after embezzling a very large sum of Money, the property of his employer, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 12th June last, has not yet heen arrested. .£ 20 reward is offered for his appreben- iou. He is particularly fond of races, gambling, and card playing, and is supposed now to be in euher Manchester, Salford. Oldh im. or Bolton ; he is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark brown hair, dark eyes, clear tair com- plexion, bad discontinued to shave his upper lip, is well made, of a partioulrly smart, clean appearance, and has a small scar wi the top ol his nose ; dresses well, generally in a suit of one colour. Remanded at Marlborough- street Police Court, for ob- taining goods by false pretences, LAWRENCE AUBIN, commission agent, 35 years of age, 6 feet 8 inches high, dark hair, whiskers, and moustache; dressed in black frock coat, vest, and trousers.
