On the morning of the 15th instant, the dead body of a newly- born male Child was found under a hedge in Dewsnip lane, Dukinfield, and at a coroner's inquest held thereon a verdict ot' ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown ' was returned. £ 50 reward will be paid by the Government to any person who shall give such informa- tion and evidence a9 will lead to the discovery of the person or persons who murdered the said child ; and Mr. Walpole will advise the gran' ot Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the muraer, who shall give such evidence as will lead to the same result. Between 1 and 6 p. m. on the 23rd instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Christopher Kibble, of Savage's Farm, in the parish of Swallowfield, Berks, was broken and entered during the absence ot the inmates, and the following articles sto'en therefrom : a light grey Top Coat, with velvet collar ; a black Dress Coat, nearly new ; an old long body Coat, a black Waistcoat, two pair ot black Trousers, one new, the other old ; two new mohair Dresses, a blue silk Skirt, nearly new, two new Chemises, a baby's white Frock, and about £ 3 18s. 6d. in money. Supposed by two men, who were Been in the road near the premises, and going in the direction of Basingstoke with a bundle, one is about 64 years of age, nearly 6 feet 4 inches high, pockmarked, and a sore mark on one side of his nose ; dressed in a dark jacket, dark trousers, dark cap, and a blue shirt; the other is about 30 years of age, nearly 6 feet 4 inches high, and dressed in a dark coat, trousers, and cap, and blue shirt. Supposed to be frequenters of races, & c. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Crook, Berks Con- stabulary Station, Reading.— Bow- street., July 25. Between the hours of 11 a. m. and 1 p. m, on the 22nd instant, the dwelling- house of the Revd. R. llibbs, of Bever- stone Rectory, near Tetbury, Gloucestershire, waa entered through the bed- room window that was left open, during the absence of the family, attending divine service, and the follow- ing property stolen therefrom : an old- fashioned stiver stop Watch, with second hands, and old English figures round the dial; a silver case Geneva Watch, silver Guard attached, and broken swivel ; a half crown Piece; a small Russia leather Case, containing a small quantity of child's hair, and a silver Jersey Coin, about the size of half a crown ; and a pair of black- handled Razors, in a black case. Supposed by a tramp of the following description, middle age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, red face, sandy hair and whiskers ; dressed in a dark brown or green faded cont, brown trousers, and a dark jimcrow hat or cap. Information to be given to Sergeant White, Tetbury, Gloucestershire.— Bow- s'ieet, July 26. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Further information respecting the Watch stolen from the person of Robert Williams, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 23rd instnnt : Supposed by SAMUEL SCOTT, about 30 years of age, about 5 teet 7 inches high, light hair, and sandy • whiskers; dressed in a brown pilot jacket, moleskin or cord tiousers, and black billycock hat. Information to be given to Superintendent Gouuh, County Constabulary Office, Oswes- try, Salop.— Bou?- street, July 30. Stolen fiom the person of John Thomas, of Newport, Monmouthshire, whilst drunk and asleep in the street, a silver lever Watch, maker W. Latch, Newport, No. 28577, name eneraved inside, and outside ' John Thomas' and ' T. T.' " Whoever will give such information that will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property shall receive £ 2 reward. Stolen from the person at bishop Auckland, a gold lever Watch, gold dial, engine- turned cases No. 13404, supposed name Philip Robinson, Bishop Auckland. Information to be given to Superintendent Henderson, Bishop Auckland, Durham. — Bow- street, July 25. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Between 12' 30 and G a. m. on the 22nd instant, a dwelling- house in the borough ot Bolton was broken and entered, and there were stolen therefrom : a pair of lace- up Boots with brass eyelet holes ; a dark blue shooting Coat, new ; a black cloth shooting Coat, in the pockets of which there were four manuscript Books containing a number of Memoranda and Receipts belong to the Globe Twist Company ; a blue, white and brown winsey Dress- piece, checked pattern, broad stripe; and a blue and gr. y striped Skirt trimmed with bugle lace. £ 2 reward will he paid to any person giving such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property. During the night of the 8th instant the colliery office at Newheld was broken and entered, ana the following articles stolen therefrom : a dark grey Coat and Vest ; an old brown Coat with pockets at ench si. e ; a brown mixture tweed loose Jacket, liued with green and white, and pockets at each side ; a pilot cloth Jacket ; a dark cloth loose Coat with white spots on it and a pocket tach side ; a pair of black and white check woollen trousers ; a pair of pilot cloth Uiawtra : a pair « , f dark striped Trousers ; a grey woollen Shirt ; a pink and white ditto, ' John Lancaster' in HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Found, supposed to have been stolen a black and white Bullock, crossed with ruddle on the right side. Information to be given to Superintendent Lottey, West Riding Con- stabulary, Skipton.— Bow- street, July 30. Supposed to have been stolen from a field at Westbury, about a month ago, two Ewes and u Lamb, of the Welsh breed, marked ' C' on side, and ruddle on loins in low condition, the property of Mr. Smout, of Westbury, Butcher. Information to be given to Supeiintendent Ivins, County Police, Shrews- bury, or to Police Constable ( 7) Richard Dovey, Ivy End, Halfway House, Shrewsbury.— Bow- street, July 27. Supposed to have been stolen from a field at Kemp Town, Brighton, on the night of the 24th instant, the property of Mr. Cheesman 36, Gt. College- street, Brighton, an old black Horse, white hind feet, long tail with a few white hairs in it, the hair rubbed off the near side haunch and also off the head. Information to be given to Chief Constable White, Town Hall, Brighton.— Bow- s'reet, July 27. Found, supposed to have been stolen a light bay hack Mare, about 15 hands high, four black legs, switch tail, and saddle mark on shoulder, in good condition. Information tn be given to Police Constable Geo. Bradshaw, Atcham near Shrewsbury. — Bow- street, July 27. Supposed to have been stolen, during the " night of the 13th instant, from a field by the roadside leading from Kilsby to Watford, ten long- woolled Ewes and ten Lambs, the pro- perty of Mr. T. H. Cowley, of Kilsby. The ewes have two nicks in the near ear, one at the top side and one at the under- neath side, and some of them may have a dot of raddle on the hip or near side ; the ewe lambs are ear marked the same as the ewes, and the he lambs marked on the left ear in the same way. If stolen, whoever shall give such information as will lead to the conviction ot the offender or offenders shall receive £ 5 reward. Information to he given to Mr. T. H. Cowley, Kilsby, or Inspector C. Downing, County Police Station, Daventry, Northamptonshire.— Bow- street, July 27. Supposed to have been stolen during the night of the 16th instant, from a field at Thorp Audlin, near Pontefract, the property of Joshua Hepworth, Esq., a Lamb of the Leicester- shire breed, marked with red ochre from its shoulders down to its back. If stolen, a reward of £ 5 will be paid by the Norton and Ackworth Association, and a further reward of £ 5 by Joshua Hepworth, Esq., to any person giving such information as will lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders; if strayed, the parties returning the same shall be well rewarded. Information to be given to Superintendent Ball, West Riding Constabulary, Pontefract, Yorkshire.— Bow street, July 25. Supposed to have been stolen from a field on the Hillend Farm in the parish of Much Cowarne, on the night of the 21st instant, a well bred bay Mare, the property ot Mr. Thomas Pudge, farmer : she is 6 years old, about 16 hands high, the off hind fetlock white, and a small blemish above the hoof on the near fore leg, and some scars about her from a fall while in harness. A reward of £ 5 will be given on conviction of the offender or offenders if stolen, and all reasonable expenses paid if strayed, on recovery of the mare, on application to Mr. Thos. Pudge, Hillend Farm, Much Cowarne. Information to be « iven to Superintendent Harwood, Bromyard, Herefordshire.— Bow- street, July 25. Supposed to have been stolen by gipsies from a field at Tadcaster, Yorkshire, on the night of the 17th instant, a dark brown cart Mare, aged, 17 hands high, off hind fetlock while, shaggy mane, switch tail, several wind galls on legs, and in low condition. Information to be given to Superintendent Parkin, West Riding Constabulary, Yorkshire.— Bow- street. July 23. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT Absconded on the 26th instant, from No. 274, Regent- street, stealing £ 13 in Gold and Silver, a man, 20 years ot age, 5 feet 6 inches high, slight build, lair complexion, brown hair; dressed in dark lounging coat, grey mixture trousers, velvet cap .— Metropolitan Police, C Division, Jul) 30. Absconded on the 26th instant, from No. 55, Queen's- road, Bayswater, stealing a Sovereign : a youth, 15 years of age, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, stoops; dressed in dark cloth jicket, brown cord trousers, and Prince of Wales hat. Supposed will leave for Cork.— Metropolitan Police, X Division, July 30. Absconded on the 25th instant, from No. 2, Brunswick- place, Hammersmith- road, stealing two pairs men's side- spring Boots, two odd ditto, five pairs lady's Boots ( various), three pairs men's embroidered Slippers, three pairs children's strap Shoes, two pairs ditto coloured Boots, some stamped ' R B.,' others ' J. C.' on the soles, a black leather Bag, and a blue camlet Bag, A man, 24 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, hair and small whiskers and moustache black ; dressed shabby, black hat, and blucher boots.— Metro- politan Police, T Division, July 30. Absconded from High Wycombe on the 18th instant, charged with embezzling upwards of £ 20, belonging to Mr. T. Date, of the ' Red Lion ' hotel, High Wycombe, Bucks: JOHN ARLETT, about 40 years ot age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, stout built, dark hair and whiskers slightly grey, dark eyeB, dark complexion, with a flatness below the bridge of nose, was in service with his wife at the Marquis of Downshire's, Easthampstead Park, near Bracknell and Wokingham, Berks, up to March last, which situation he left to go as ostler at the ' Red Lion' hotel, High Wycombe. He bas a daughter 16 years of age, living with his father and Bister, residing at a place called the Freehold, No. 4, Furze- row, Thornton- heath, Surrey; he lias also a brother Robert, who is a carman, living at South Norwood- hill, keeps carts for watering the roads in that district. £ 5 reward will be paid on his apprehension and conviction. Information to be given to Superintendent Davis, High Wycombe, Bucks, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 30. Stolen about 6 p. m. on the 26th instant, from the dwelling- house of James Taylor, of Scalthwaiterigg, near Kendal, plate- layer, the following articles: a woman's black cloth Jacket with cloth trill round neck ; a plain black Cape bound with worsted braid ; a brown silk Umbrella; lj yard of calico Print; a red, white, and black silk Handkerchief, full pattern, nearly new ; a brown alpaca Apron trimmed with green braid; Calico for a chemise cut ready for making up ; and about 8s. in Silver. By a young woman, who had been lodging there about a moi th, and who absconded immediately after the robbery, about 18 years of age, middle stature, rather stout, dark brown hair, dark complexion, lost a front tooth in upper jaw ; supposed to be dressrd in dark winsey dress or brown and white gingham, biack chip bonnet with a little brown and white rihbon behind. She stated that she came from Cocker- mouth, and has received letters from some person at Keswick. Information to be given to Superintendent Hibberd, Kendal, or at the County Chief Constable's Office, Carlisle,— Boa street, July 30. A man of the following description took lodgings at the house of William Parry, of Shrawardine, Salop, stating that he was going to work on the railway there, and afterwards absconded, stealing from a bedroom 17s. Cd.: he is about 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, good looking ; dressed in a dark jacket and waistcoat, light coloured trousers, red scarf, paper collar, and low- crowned hat with a long string attached to it. Information to be given to Superintendent Gough, Oswestry, or to Police Constable ( No. 81) Gurney, Baschurch, Salop.— Bow- street, July 27. Absconded on the 21st instant, from No. 198, Whitecross- street, St. Luke's, embezzling £ 16 : a maD, 30 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, fresh complexion, light hair, sandy mous- tache, long thin face; dreBsed in black coat and vest, dark mixture trousers, black felt hat, and side- spring boots.— Metropolitan Police, G Division, July 27. Description of ROBERT GOODYER, charged with stealing a Crook, a laige Pan, a bag of Feathers, a pair of Sheets, a Blanket, and £ 5 10s. in Money, the property of William Martin, at Speldhurst, on the 9th instant. He is a shoemaker, about 19 years of age, 5 feet G inches high, dark complexion, ne whiskers; dressed in dark cord trousers, light xey coat, and low- crowned bat. He is accompanied by a • voman, about 25 years of age, short and stout, very red face, and mole under left eye.
