Stolen on the 14th instant, from the person at Masham, in the North Riding of Yorkshire, a silver lever Watch, No. 110, maker William Pratt, JMasham, sunk seconds, and gold hands. Information to he given to Inspector Alderson, Bedale, or to Superintendent Walmsley, Leyburn, North Riding of York- shire.— Bow- street. July 16. Stolen from the person of a gentleman in Cardiff, on the night of the 12th instant, a silver lever Watch, No. 6559. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Stockdale, Cardiff. — How- street, July 16. Stolen from the person on the 9th instant, at Romford, ICssex, a double cased silver lever Watch, No. 1336, maker, Lorimer, London, also a Purse containing a Half- sovereign and 12s. 9d. in silver. Information to be given to Inspector Gilpin, Police Station, Romford, Essex.— Boto- ttreet, July 11. BURGLARY AND MOUSE BREAKING. During the night of the 11th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. James Hamer, Delfarch, Llangurig, was broken into, and the following property stolen : a pair of Cossack Boots, three lace holes each side, square tacks in the heels, hob nails In the foreparts, and a piece of tin under the nails at the toes ; a pair of lace- up Boots, nailed round similar to the last pair ; a watertight Boot for the left foot, with brass eyelet holes, has been underlaid at the toe. Supposed by three tramps, who • were seen in the neighbourhood : one is about 5 feet 9 inches high, and dressed in a brown jacket and breeches; another is about 6 feet 2 or 3 inches high, and dressed as a sailor in blue jacket, trousers, arid shirt ; and the other is about 6 feet 3 or 4 inches high, and dressed in an old black coat with pockets outside, and fustian or cotton cord trousers: all between 20 and 24 years of age. They were traced going in the direction of Cardiff. Information to be given to Superintendent Danily, newtown, or to Police Constable Sibbald, Llangurig, Mont- o- omeryshire.— Bow- street, July 16. During the night of the 12th instant, the National School in the borough of Evesham was entered, and about four dozen of Pen Holders, three dozen of black lead Pencils, and a few Memorandum Books stolen therefrom. Information to be given to Superintendent Harris, Pershore, or to Sergeant Mann, Evesham, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, July 16. CHARLES EDW. HUDSON, alias HEN. JACKSON, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 13tli inst., for burglary at Leaton, near Wellington, Salop, has been apprehended and committed lor trial at the assizes on the 29th instant, and it is supposed he has been formerly convicted of telony ; he is about 38 years of age, 5 feet inches high, fresh complexion, oval face, small features, dark thin hair, propoitionate make ; says he has been a soldier, a police constable, and that he served his apprenticeship as a solicitor's clerk ; he refuses to give the name of his native place, which is supposed to be near Manchester, but is well acquainted with all the principal towns in England ; he has been twice convicted at Guilford, Surrey, of felony, under the name of Henry Jackson, and may have assumed Other names. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Richardson, or to Sergeant Christie, Wellington, Salop.— Bow- street, July 16. Between the houts of 12 p. m. and 5 a. m. on the 12th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Henry Bond, of Lutterworth, was broken into, and the following property stolen therefrom : a calico Nightshirt, marked ' H. Bond' in ink on the skirt; a TVacloth, marked in ink • H. Bond, No. 1 ;' a coarse Harding Apron ; a Ti. erniometer ; two pairs of men's Balmoral Boots, one pair light, nearly new, two rows of wooden pegs round the soles, the other pair are heavy, watertight, have been mended on the soles, and had a pair of cork soles inside ; a Violin and Bow ; a mahogany Box and set of Chessmen, a green leather Cigar Case with braas eyes, opens like a book ; and a sinull pocket Knife. Information to be given to Superintendent Deakins, Lutterworth, Leicestershire.- Bow- street, July 16. Between H' 30 p. m. on the 9th and 4 a. m. on the 10th instant, the dwelling- house of Mary Lamb of Ormscliff Cragg, in the township of Stainburn, farmer, was broken and entered, and there was stolen therefrom : a new lilac and white striped print Dress- piece ; 1J yards of white cotton Lining ; four pots of orange Marmalade, marked on the paper'April, 1866'; a blue cotton Pocket- handkerchief with white spots ; a blue and white ditto, far worn, hole in the corner; and about twenty hens' Eugs. Information to be given to Superintendent Sykes, West Riding Constabulary, Otley, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, July 13. Stolen by means of housebreaking, between the hours of 11 p. m. 7 th, and Gam. the 8 th instant, from the house of Mrs. Riley, of Nutley- road, Reigate : 3 silver tea Spoons, marked ' A. R.' 1 silver salt Spoon, marked ' N.' 3 electro- plated table Spoons, marked ' N.' 1 electro- plated tea Spoon. 1 silver tea Spoon, broken. 1 black handle carving Knife. 1 small white handle Knife. 1 square black cloth Shawl. 1 pair of gentlemen's elastic- side Boots. 1 pair of lady's cashmere Boots, side laced. 1 Towel, marked ' R. No. 3.' 1 blue and red table Cloth. 1 meerschaum Pipe. 1 tobacco Pouch. 1 Inkstand. Some Bread ; Meat; Flower ; Potatoes ; Peas and Tea. Information to be given to Superintendent Rogers, Reigate.— Bow- street, July 13. On the morning of the 9 th instant the house of Mr. P. Palmer, Sandfield, in the suburbs of Lichfield, was found broken into, and the following property stolen : eight £ 10 Bank of England Notes, Nos. 45655, 45656, 45657, 89795, 89796, 89797, 89798, and 89799 ; twelve £ 5 ditto, Nos. 22433, 46096, 64263, 67359, 65435, 68563, 70380, 77568, 85761, 88250, 96532, and 99294 ; sixty Sovereigns ; a large old- fashioned silver Watch, maker S. E. Dann, Elham, No. 257 ; a large single- barrelled Pistol, loaded. Whoever will give such information and evidence as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offenders, shall receive £ 20 reward. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Ryder, Police Station, Lichfield.— Bow- street, July 11. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Supposed to have been stolen from Asbdown Forest, in the parish of Maresfield, since the 9th instant, a brown cob Mare, 5 years old, abouc 13 hands high, white star on forehead, a few white hairs on left side of back, dark mane and tail, and in good condition. Information to be given to Superintendent Bennett, Uckfield, or any Police Station in East Sussex.— Bow- street, July 16, Description'of a man who gave his name WM. HOWARD, of the firm of Howard and Co., jewellers, Birmingham, who hired a Horse and Dogcart on the 12th instant, at Ripon, under the pretence of proceeding on business for the day to Bedale, in the North Riding of Yorkshire, since ascertained to be untrue, and the said horse and dogcart not having been returned to the owner, it is strongly suspected that they have been unlawfully disposed of: he is from 30 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, sallow complexion, dark hair, and long dark whiskers; dressed in dark mixture cloth suit, high- crowned black hat, and a scarf, with a common pin in it, shewing a terrier dog's head through a round piece of glass in front. Description of horse and trap: a black Horse, about 8 years old, 15 hands 1J inch high, three parts bred, in good condition, except his knees being marked; a set of plated Harness, with a bent turret in the saddle ; a four- wheeled Dog- cart, painted black, lined with green cloth, reversible hind seat, apron back and front, off side wing bent and dash iron leather burst at one corner, one shaft has been repaired at the point, and one of the front steps broken off. £ 10 reward will be paid on the apprehension and conviction of the offender and recovery of the property, or £ 5 for such information as will lead to the restoration ot the horse and dogcart to the owner. Information to be given to Superintendent Burniston, City Polbe, Ripon, Yorkshire.— Bow- ilreet, July 16. Supposed to have been stolen from Castle Howard Park, on the 29th ultimo, the property of Mr. Elliott of Coneysthorpe North Riding of Yorkshire, a large brown retriever Dog, white breast, and grey muzzle, answers to the name of ' Carlo.' In- formation to be given to Superintendent Gregory, North Riding Constabulaiy, > Malton, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, July 16. Supposed to have been stolen, between 2 and 10 a. m. on the 8th instant, from a field at Salford, a black Horse, lame on the off fore leg, and both fore shoes lined with leather; also a black Mare, numbered on the hoof of one of the fore feet, has lately been fired and blistered, and has been kicked on the buttock. Information to be given to Head Constable Taylor, Town Hall, Salford.— Bow- street, July 13, Obtained by false pretences from Mr. T. Johnson, at Thorney Fair, on the 2nd instant, a black nag Mare, about 9 years old, 14} hands high, thick set, has a small piece of white on one of the hind heels inside, short tail, on the top of which the hair has been pulled out by a young horse, has saddle marks on back, and white hairs in mane from chafe of collar, and is a nervous mare, especially when the mane or tail are combed. The min ( who said he came from Leicester, and presented a £ 20 Note of a bank in that town which has been obsolete 23 years;, is about 55 years of age, about 5 feet4 inches high, nearly white hair; dressed in a brown cloth suit. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Smith, Whittlesey, Cambs.— Boa- street, July 13. Supposed to have been stolen about the 2nd instant, from the parish of Syderstone, a brown gelding Donkey, 6 years old, middle size, rather grey head, chafed on the near side and under belly, fore feet cracked. Information to be given to Police Constable Empson, Rudham, near Eougham, Norfolk.— Bow- sUeet, July 13. Supposed to have been stolen, since the 1st instant, from Mr. Sutherland's Park, Coombe, near Croydon: five wether Sheep, black dots on near hips, black faces, and recently shorn; between the West Down and South Down breed,— Metropolitan Police, W Division, July 13. Description of THOMAS BIRD, a boatman off Cannock Chase, Staffordshire, who is charged with stealing on the 16th ultimo, at Nuneaton, Warwickshire, a Horse ( since recovered): about 28 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dark com- plexion, dark brown hair, and whiskers shaved off; dressed in a rough blue pilot cloth jacket, moleskin vest, dark cloth trousers, much patched, and black billycock hat; has been in the Army, and it marked with letter ' D.', an anchor and tree on one hand, a rose and thistle on the other, on each middle finger a ring mark, and on one arm a soldier and a woman. He is well known at Pelsall, Staffordshire. Information ( o be given to Superintendent Austin, Nuneaton, Warwickshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension — Bow- street, Julf 11, Stolen between 8 p. m. 6th, and 4 a. m. 7th Instant, from a stable at No. 14, New- yard, Great Q, ueen- street, Lincoln's- inn, a dark brown Mare, small white patch on off hind fetlock, two collar marks on shoulders, aged, bung tail, very handsome head, 15 hands 2 inches high, and a quilted Saddle, with spring stirrups, and a driving liiidle.— Metropolitan Police, F Division, July 11. Supposed stolen fiom a field in the parish of Dunkerton, on the night of the 9th instant, a black half- bred cart Mare, 6 years old, about 15^ hands high, white face, hind feet white, and grey hairs mixed with uiaue and tail. If stolen, a reward ot £ 5 will be paid on recovery of the mare, and conviction of the offender. Information to be given to Superintendent Morgan, County Police Station, Upper Bristol- road, Bath.— Bow- street, July 11. Supposed to have been stolen from Seisdon, Staffordshire, on the 4th instant, the property of Mr. John Aston, a black entire Colt, about 15 hands high, rising 2 years old, large head and limbs, long tail, and a half bred Mare, aged, about 15 hands high, white star on forehead, and white hairs ou lower part of legs. If stolen, 10s. reward will be paid on the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the horses. Information to be given to Sergeant Price, Police Station, Trysull, Wolverhampton.— Bow- street, July 11. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT Absconded on the 9th instant, from 17, Sandy's- row, Spitalfields, stealing £ 2 10s.: a female, 46 years of ago, 6 feet 4 inches high, pale complexion, fair hair, slightly pockmarked, round shouldered ; dressed in a grten Welsh plaid, slate coloured jacket, black bonnet trimmed with green— Metropolitan Police, H Division, July 16. Absconded on the 9th instant, from 2, Bussell Street, Brixton, £ 2 2s: a youth, 18 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, fair complexion, samiy hair; dressed in a black coat, light trousers and vest, ana deer- stalker hat.— Metropolitan Police, W Division, July 16. Description of MATTHEW SCOTT, charged with stealing on the 7th instant, a Watchstand, since recovered, about 56 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark complexion, brown hair turning grey, bald in front, and whiskers; dressed in a brown mixture coat and trousers, light check vest and wideawake billycock hat: is a Scotchman bpeaks with a bread accent, and travels with a womau. Information to be given to Super- intendent Hunt, Town Hall, Leeds.— Bow- street, July 16. Absconded on the 11th instant, from West Ham Union, two men: one, 43 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion and hair, charged with stealing a pair of Troussrs, a Shirt, a pair of Stockings, a pair of Blucher Boots, and a blue striped Neckerchief; the other, 40 years of age, 6 feet 11 inches high, dark complexion, stealing a Shirt, a pair of Stockings, a pair of Shoes, and a Neckerchief. Both dressed in the stolen clothes, marked ' West Ham Union.'— t' Police, N Division, July 16. Stolen on the 11th instant, from No. 5, Crescent- street, Euston- square : a silver lever Watch, No, 4069; £ 4 in Silver; a pair of Eirrings set with turquoise ; and a gold ring set with five turquoise and a garnet- By a man, 23 years of age, 6 feet 2 inches high, dark hair and complexion; dressed in dark coat, grey mixture trousers, and dark cap,— Metropolitan Police, SjDivision, July 16, Absconded on the 12th instant, from No. 25, Ordnance- road, St. John's- wood, stealing a red leather Purse and eight Sovereigns: a female, 18 years of age, 5 feet high, fair com- plexion, brown fair, speck on right eye ; dressed in green and white plaid frock, black cloth j* cket, and slate- coloured bonnet trimmed with blue velvet.— Metropolitan Police, S Division, July 16. Description of EDWARD KENNEDY, who stands charged on a warnnt with stealing the case of surgical instru- ments advertised in the Police Gazette of the 6th instant, the the silver instruments have been recovered and the remainder are supposed to be still in his po- sesaion or disposed of else- where : lie is trcm 60 to 70 years of age, 6 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexion, grey hair, little or no whiskers, and is rather as'hmatical; dressed in greasy black cloth clothes, hat, and black neckerchief; he frequents common lodging houses and sells spectacles and knives. Stolen on the 11th instant, from an hotel ia Hastings : 1 gold Pin, in shape of a lady's hand with a gauntlet, a small blue 6tone on the fore finger. 2 Pint, one onyx, one cameo. 1 gold Geneva Watch. 1 gold keeper Ring. 1 short gold Chain, long round links, plain gold clasp. 1 gold Locke!, with coloured photograph of a gentleman, 1 tine gold Broocb, in the shape of a button, a red stone in the centre. 1 gold Ring, set with three diamonds and a red stone. By a man and woman, the in an, 25 or 2G years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high ; dressed in black coat, light vest and trousers, and black hat. The woman, about 18 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high; dressed in black jacket, black silk dress, and a black hat; was supposed to he accompanied by a stout woman, well dressed, who went into the hotel, and asked to be shown up stairs to wash their hands. Absconded from Hereford, charged with stealing 3 Geese, ( since recovered): WILLIAM TROTMAN, alias TROTTER, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches. High, hrown hair and whiskers under thin, sallow complexion, rathi- r stout madn. dressed in a long striped blue slop, dirty moleskin trousers, and jimcrow hat; has been employed on canal boats in Stafford- shire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, and Montgomeryshire, he is also well known about Dudley. JOHN SMITH, alias LONG TOE, 30 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, brown hair, very silly looking, and of dirty appearance; dressed in a sleeved vest, and supposed cord trousers; he is well known as a boatman on the Gloucester, Hereford, and Staffordshire canals. Information to be given to Superintendent Wilson, Hereford, who holds warrants for their apprehension.— Brn- st, July 13. Absconded, on the 7th instant, from 313,. Strand, stealing at out £ 40: a youth, 17 years of age, 5 feet high, fair com- plexion; light hair, large full light eyes.— Metropolitan Police, F Division, July 13. Stolen on the 8th instant, from 44, Lincoln's Inn Fields : 1 silver dessert Fork, marked ' W.' 3 silver tea Spoons, marked ' M. A. W.' 1 pair of plated sugar Tongs. 1 gold mourning Pin, glass behind, stone in front, stone deficient. 1 bunch of six or seven Keys on steel ring. By a man, 26 years of age, 6 feet 5 inches high, dark hair, eyeB and complexion, slim build ; dressed in dark clothes.— ifetro politan Police, F Division, July 13. Description of JOHN EDWARD JONES, of Great Bridge, Staffordshire, a. dramp, who is charged with stealing from an outhouse at Llwyngrawis, near Cardigan, on the 3rd instant, the property of James Williams, a servant, a brown home made cloth Coat, pooket at each side without flaps, pocket inside left breast, lined with blue cotton and yellow stripes, dark two hole horn buttons; a dark cloth Waistcoat with small pink dots, two hole dark horn buttons; a red and black plaid lambswool Shirt, buttoned behind; a silk Hand- kerchief, red and blue; a black silk Necktie with red stripes; a pink ditto with light stripes; and two white linen Collars: about 16 years of age, 5 feet If inch high, pale and sallow complexion, dark brown hair and eyes, small features, down- cast look, carries his head forward and has a peculiar manner of working it up and down as he walks; dressed in a brown frock coat and vest, drab trousers, striped shirt, strong boots laced up in front, and black felt hat: he is a gasfitter. He was discharged from Cardigan Gaol on the 29th ultimo, where be had undergone one month's imprisonment for larceny. Information to be given to Superintendent Hall, Llandyssul, Carmarthen, or to Sergeant Davies, Cardigan, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Boio- strett, July 13. Description of a man charged with stealing from the dwelling- luiusB of J. Doiomett, Esq., Seaton, on the 30th ultimo, a Crueistand with seven small Glasses ( since recovered ): about 60 years of sge, fi fe'et 8 inches high, dark brown hair, small whiskers; dressed in dark cloth coat and vest, cord trousers, black cap, and lace- up boots without nails. He travels the country with tinware and mends china, and has been traced from Axminster to Dorchester. Information to be given to Superintendent C. Dore, Devon County Consta- bulary. II oniton, or lo Sergeant G. Gunn, Axminster.— Bow- street,, July 13. Absconded from Newport, Monmouthshire, on the 11th ir. stam," a man, 2G years of age. 5 feet 6 inches high, very sallow complexion, skin off nose, lost one eye ( supposed left) ; dressed in alpaca coat, dark trousers, white shirt, and blue ribbon round neck, all his clothing marked ' J. B.' He is charged with stealing from the house of Sarah Anthony a silver Geneva Watch; gold Guaid ; and four Shillings: lias been in the army, and served in India.
