The Names of Persons charged with Offences who are known but not in custody, and a Description of those who are not known, their Appearance, Dress, and other marks of identity. The Names of Accomplices and Accessories, with every particular which may lead to their Apprehension. Hfotlce.— It is requested that all communications for the pur- pose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to MR. W. D. BURNABY, tbe Editor, Police Court, Bow- street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that n Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in tire POLICE GAZETTE, all betters addressed to the Editor must he prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. On the 2nd instant the dead body of a newly- born female Child, very much decomposed, was found in a brook adjoining the River Severn at Sandhurst. It was wrapped in part of an old red shawl and a piece of brown drugget with red border. The coroner's jury returned a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown.' Information to be given to Superintendent C. Griffin, Gloucester.— Bow- street, July 6. FORGERY Absconded from St. Asaph, charged with forgery, JOHN STOREY, late relieving officer, about CO years of age, 6 feet 8 inches high, grev hair, fresh complexion, small grey whiskers; sometimes dressed in a velveteen jacket and at others in a black frock coat and black trousers. Supposed to be in or near Liverpool. Information to be given to Superintendent C. Adams, Holywell, Flintshire, North Wales.— Bow- st., July 6. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON- Stolen from the person at Carlisle do^ ng the races on the 3rd and 4th instant, a gold lever Watch, Kold dial, No. 4569; a gold lever Watch, gold dial. No. 21107, maker Thomas Wheatley, Carlisle ; a silver Watch ; and an old fashioned gold Watch. Information to be given to Chief Constable Bent, City Police, Carlisle.— Bow- street, July 9. Stolen about 1* 30 p. m. on the 25th ultimo, from the person of Mr. Rupert Adderley, of Dresden, near Longton, at the laying of the foundation stone of the new North Stafford- shire Infirmary, a large gold lever Watch, gold dial and figures, steel hands, sprung above, jewelled in six or eight holes, No. 29937. £ 5 reward will be paid for the recovery of the watch and conviction of the offender or offenders, on application to Mr. Adderley. Information to be given to Superintendent Garnham, Constabulary Office, Longton, Staffordshire, or at any Police Station in the county of Stafford.— Boio- street, July 6. Stolen from the person in the borough of Halifax, on the night of the 25th ultimo, a silver Geneva Watch, steel hands and seconds. Also, on the same date, a silver lever Watch, double cases, No. 10363. Also, on the night of the 28th ultimo, a gold Geneva hunter Watch, gold dial, chased case, Stauffer, CXDEPONDS, No. 74828. Information to be given to Superintendent Pearson, Town Ilall, Halifax, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, July 4. Stolen on the 28th ultimo, from the person of a gentleman in Manchester, a lady's gold lever Watch, chased cases, gold dial, maker Moses Cohen, Sheffield, No. 20149, had attached a gold Albert Chain and Appendages. Information to be given to Superintendent T. Anderton, C Division Police Station, Fairfield- street, or at any Police Station in Manchester.— Bow- street, July 4. Stolen from the person of Henry Willicombe, at Ilminster, on the 14th ultimo, an old- fashioned pair- case silver verge Watch, large size, with steel Chain, an old copper Coin, and two small common Keys attached, and a small silver ring at the end of the chain ; ' also a brown jean Purse, containing 1 8s. 3d. in silver Coin. By a man named CHAS. HENDY, a native of Ilminster, Somerset, about 28 years of age, 5 feet 9' or 10 inches high, stout make, rather curly brown hair, whiskers shaved off, walks very erect, tattooed on both arms, has a bracelet on each wrist, figure of woman on one arm, ring on forefinger of left hand, and branded with letter 4 D ' on breast; dressed in a white slop, dark check vest, moleskin trousers, black cap with peak and brass button on each side, and heavy navvy boots with brass eyelet- holes, also has a pilot cloth coat with him, which he sometimes wears; he is supposed to be working at either Landport, Hants, where railway works are going on, or at some fortifications in the Isle of Wight, and is supposed to be going in the name of CHARLES STONE ; has served in the army, and recently discharged. Information to be given to Superintendent Everitt, Somerset Constabulary, Ilminster, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 2. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Between the hours of 9 a. m. and 1 p. m. on the 4th instant, the dwelling- house of Samuel Hardy, labourer, Wednespool, Notts, was broken into, and the following property stolen therefrom : a silver Watch Guard, with a few links broken near the bottom ; a blue pilot Topcoat, with red and black plaid lining, five pockets, has been worn a good deal, and mended inside with black lining under the arm ; a suit of new brown check Clothes, small pattern, dark horn buttons, the trousers bound with red and slightly torn at left knee ; a black Coat and Vest, much worn ; a pair of grey Trousers, mended on left knee ; a black and red woollen Shirt; a white linen Shirt; a white Slop ; a pair of men's new Boots with elastic sides ; also some Bread and Meat. Supposed by tramps. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Palethorpe, County Police Station, Nottingham.— Bow- street, July 9 Between 1 and 6 a. m. on the 7th instant, the dwelling house of Mr. George Cave, of the Oxford- road, Banbury, was broken, and the following property stolen: eighteen silver Dessert Knives and Forks, embossed handles and plated blades; a silver Mustard Spoon, marked ' H. C.' or ' C.'; a pair of silver Sugar Tongs ; a silver Tobacco Box, hinged lid, engraved on the bottom ' Presented to Mr. J. Roe, 1850'; a small pewter Box, containing about 7s. in new Farthings. Supposed by a tramp without shoes or stockings, who left an old table knife in the house. £ 5 reward will be given for such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property, or in proportion to the amount recovered. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Whadcoat, Banbury, Oxon. — Bow- street, July 9. Absconded from Stoke Prior Reformatory School, charged with housebreaking, a young man about 18 years of age, 6 feet C inches high, dark hair, and dressed in a round cord jacket with pockets on the hip, cotton cord waistcoat and trousers. He left Birmingham on the 5th instant. Information to be given to Superintendent Bevan, Bromsgrove, Worcester.— Box) street, July 9. Between 8 a. m. and 5- 30 p. m. on the 3rd instant the cottage of Edward Firkins, at Hanley Castle, was broken and entered, and there was stolen therefrom about 6 or 8 lbs. of Bacon ; half a loaf of Bread ; seven Eggs ; two white Neckerchiefs ; two black and white plaid Neckerchiefs; 6d. in Coppers ; a bunch of three Keys ; a Razor with speckled handle ; a Slop, made jacket fashion ; and a red diamond stripe bundle Handkerchief. Information to be given to Superintendent G. Checketts, Upton- on- Severn, or Acting Inspector Turner, Great Malvern, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, July 6. On the night of the 2nd instant, the National School at Bromsgrove was broken and entered, and the contents of six missionary boxes were stolen, chiefly copper Money. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Bevan, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, July 6. During the night of the 28th ultimo the blacksmith's shop of Hugh Davenhill, situate at Wetwood, in the parish of Eccleshall, was broken into, and six new scythe Blades, ' Brades & Co.' s Patent,' stolen therefrom. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Bergen, Stone, or at any Police Station in Staffordshire.— Bow- street, July 4. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Supposed to have been stolen, from the premises of Mr. John Berrington, of the Green, parish of Cainham, a small pony Bridle, with curb bit, and rusty, one of the reins has been mended, and a piece of new leather let in from 6 to 8 inches long. Information to be given to Superintendent McWilliam, Bridgnorth, or to Police Constable ( 82) William Jones, Clee HiU, near Ludlow.— Bow- street, July 9. Supposed to have been stolen, on the 4th instant, from a field in the parish of Welby, a dark brown Cart Mare, 4 years old, short mane, long topping, rather long tail, a scar under forepart of body, and black legs. If stolen, £ 5 reward will be paid by the owner, Mr. J. W. Billiatt, on recovery of the same, and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superintendent Sharpe, County Police Station, Grantham, Lincolnshire.— Boio- street, July 9. Supposed to have been stolen from a field at the fox yards, in the parish of Sedgley, on the night of the 3rd instant, a dark brown mottled Horse, 16 hands high, about 8 years old, white face, fetlock of the off hind leg white, and in good condition. Information to be given to Sergeant Tubman, Police Station, Caseley, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, July 9. Supposed to have been stolen from a field adjoining Stanton Lacy House, on the night of the 28th or early the foUowing morning, a fat wether Sheep of the Dorset breed. £ 5 reward will be paid on conviction of the offender or offenders ( if stolen). Information to be given to Superinten- dent Baxter, County Constabulary Office, Church Stretton, near Shrewsbury, or to Police Constable ( 50) Thomas, Sand- pits, near Ludlow, Salop.— Bow- street, July 9. A man of the following description hired a Mare and light spring Cart, on the 3rd inBtant, from Mr. Reynolds, of the ' Lion' inn, Romford: about 34 years of age, 5 feet 0 or 7 inches high, pale complexion, large bushy whiskers shaved under chin ; dressed in tight- fitting grey overcoat with outside pockets and bound with black binding, grey trousers, red shirt with square black spots, black hat, and side- spring boots. He stated that he was a relieving officer of the parish of Lambeth going to Hornchurch to apprehend a man for leaving his wife and children chargeable to the parish of Lambeth, He did not return the said mare and cart, and it is suspected that he has stolen them. The mare is a light grey, stout built, 7 years old, 15 hands 2 inches high, in good con- dition ; the cart is old, painted green, and has off wing lost]; the harness is also old and plated. £ 5 reward will be paid to any person who shall give such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender and recovery of the property. Information to be given to Inspector Gilpin, Romford, Essex.— Bow- street, July 6. Supposed to have been stolen on the night of the 28th ultimo, from Bower Farm, Penshurst, a 2- year old fat Steer, nearly all white. Information to be given to Superintendent Dance, Police Court, Tunbridge, Kent.— Bow- street, July i. Stolen during the night of the 27th ultimo, from the premises of Charles Noller, blacksmith, in the parish of Westleton, a light gelding Donkey, aged, long tail, skin chafed off the fore legs close by the knees, in low condition. Infor- mation to be given at the Police Station, Westleton, near Yoxford, East Suffolk.— Bow- street, July i. Description of WILLIAM FISHER who has absconded from Walsall, charged with horse stealing: 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, long features, upper teeth projecting over lip, larp"? mouth, bow- legged, dark brown hair ; is a miner. Sup- posed to be at Barnsley or Rotherham. Has a brother- in- law residing at Attercliffe Common, near Sheffield. Information to be given to Head Constable J. W. Cater, Walsall, Stafford- shire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension,— Bow- street, July 4. Supposed to have been stolen from the parish of Minstead, in the New Forest, between the 19th and 23rd ultimo, a black gelding Horse, 5 years old, 16 hands high, white star on fore- head, tail squared just above the hocks, has a few white hairs on the hind quarters from the friction of the breeching, and stands a little up in the off hind fetlock, the property of Mr. Arthur Scorey, of Minstead. Information to be given to Superintendent Wedge, Hants Constabulary, Lyndhurst, or at any of the Hants Constabulary Stations. - Bow- street, July 4. Stolen from a stable in Horseley Fields, Wolverhampton, on the night of the 29th ultimo, a cream coloured Mare, 5 years old, 14j hands high, hind feet white, white blaze down the face, scar on off hind leg, and white spot on off fore foot. £ 2 reward will be paid on apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders on recovery of the mare. Information to be given to Captain Segrave, Chief Constable, Wolverhampton. — Bow- street, July 4. Supposed to have been stolen from Chittle Farm, some time between the 22nd and 29th lilt., eleven four- tooth Ewes, crossed with the Hampshire Down breed, marked with the letter • R' on the near side, not shorn, the property of Mr. R. Rogers. £ 5 reward will be given to any person who will give such information as shall lead to the conviction of tbe offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superintendent Watts, Dorset Constabulary, Blandford.— Bow- street, July 4. Supposed to have been stolen during the night of the 25th ultimo, from a field at Peacocks Hay, Wolstanton, two Ponies; one a dark brown mare, 4 years old, 13 hands high, long tail, newly shod, and in good condition ; the other a light brown l'lorse, 5 years old, 11 or 12 hands high, and in good condition. Information to be given to Inspector Scott, Police Office, Tunstall, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, July 2. Supposed to have been stolen from a field in the parish of Worksop, Notts, on the night of the 24th ultimo, three fat Sheep, marked on the near side with the letter ' B.'; the property of Mr. Joseph Beard, Worksop, farmer and miller. If stolen, a reward of Six Guineas will be paid by Mr. Beard and the Worksop Association for the Prosecution of Felons to any person giving such information as will lead to the convic- tion of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superintendent Cheatle, County Police Office, Worksop, Notts. — Bow- street, July 2. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT Absconded from No. 18, James- street, Buckingham- gate, stealing a light coloured leather Portmanteau, half folding, nearly new, containing Shirts, Collars, & c., marked 1W, H. Willats'; two ivory Brushes, & c.; a Bag; and some Money: a man, 24 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, black whiskers, thick set, has the appearance of a countryman; dressed in brown mixture suit, hat with cockade, and top boots,— Metropolitan Police, A Division, July 9. Absconded on the 2nd instant, from No. 16, Great Pulteney- street, St. James', stealing £ 1 Gs. 6d, a black silk Dress, a stripe Dress, a Chemise, a pair of Drawers, and a blue Bonnet: a female, 18 years of age, middle height, fair hair and complexion ; dressed in black truck, ami black velvet hat with blue feather.— Metropolitan Police, C Division, July 9. Absconded on the 2nd instant, from the'White Horse' public- house, Parson's- green, Fulharn, stealing £ 5: a man, 20 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and eyes; dressed in black cloth coat with pockets at hips, brown knitted vest, dark cloth trousers, side- spring boots, and deerstalker hat.— Metropolitan Policy T Division, July 9. Absconded on the 3rd instaut, from No. 3, Millpond- street, Bermondsey, embezzling £ 1 12s.: a man, 49 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches hifjh, fair complexion and hair; dressed in dark tweed coat, light striped trous island light deerstalker hat.— Jletro politon Police, M Division, July 9. He has been a hooking clerk on the Metropolitan Railway, and bis father resides at Wadebridge, Cornwall; he has b- eu traced to Ba'h and Bristol. By a man who gave thr name of ALFRED GATES, supposed to he a native of Sompting, Sussex, about 25 years of age, ahout 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion, and rather stout; dressed in light fustian trousers, old dirty ronnd tri ck, and luce- np boots, and is supposed to be wearing the stolen waistcoat and hat. as he left his old ones behind. Information to be given to Superintendent Jenner, Lewes, or to Police Constable Phipps, Police Station, Chailey, Sussex, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bouyitreei. July 9. Ab; conded on the 5th instant, from No. 16, Brownlow- street, Druiy- lane, stealing ± 4: a youth, 16 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and eyes, broid nose; dressed in blown coat, dark trousers and cap, and lace boots.— — Metropolitan Police, F Division, July 9. Absconded ou the 2nd instant, from No. 11, Erith- villas, Erith, stealing a cloth Cqat, a Vest and Trousers, a linen Shirt, a pair of Drawers, a pair of Stockings, a Handkerchief, a Dutch Cap, a pair of Wellington Boots, and a linen Collar : a female, 17 years of age, 5 feet high ; supposed to be dressed in the stolen clothes.— Me'ropolitan Police, R Dii/ ision, July 9. Description of THOS. ALLEN, charged with embezzle- ment at Hanley, and for whose apprehension a warrant is held: he is about CO years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, stout made, paralyzed on right side, hair turning grey, and lias been em- ployed as under bailiff of the Hanlty County Court; may be dressed in a frock coat with high collar; has lelatives in London and Birmingham. Information to be given to Super- intendent Stuart, Hanley, Staffordshire.— Bom- street, July 4. Stolen from a dwelling- house in the parish of Michael- church, Esklsy, Herefordshire, between the 25th and 28th ultimo, a pair of woisted cord Trousers, whole front, lined; a black clotn Jaqket, stitched round the edge ; a blue pilot cloth monkey Jacket, bound with braid ; a W aistcoat of the same material; and a flannel Shirt, light ground, with red birds on it. By a labourer, from 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark hair, no whiskers, swarthy complexion, tattooed on arm wiih the imitation of a man smoking a pipe, several rings and crosses on arms; dressed in the stolen clothes, and had with him an old mixture cont and a pair of dark trousers patched with cord. Supposed to be a native of Wilts, and to have been in the Army. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Blunsdon, Abbey Dore, or to Sergeant Baynham, Longtown, Herefordshire.— Bow- street, July 4. Stolen on the evening of the 30th ultimo, from the ' Grapes' inn, in Fishergate, Ripon : a rough dark cloth slack- backed Coat, made in the shape of a stable jacket, with row of dark brown buttons round front; a pair of brown and white mixture plaid cloth Trousers and Waistcoat, nearly new ; a flannel Shirt; a red silk Handkerchief; and a brown ditto. By a tramping bricklayer, from 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark brown hair, no whiskers, ncse swollen and piece of plaister stuck on one side of it; lie will no doubt be wearing the tiousers and waistcoat and one of the silk handkerchiefs ( as be left the old ones behind him), and a dirty cap. Supposed to have gone to Leeds. Information to be given to Superintendent W. Bumiston, City Police, Ripon, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, July 4. FELONIES ( Not otherwise described). Absconded from Henfield, West Sussex, on the 20th ult., charged with rape: ALFRED BROWNING, 24 years of age, 5 feet 6J inches high, stoutly built, sallow complexion, dark hair, and a little whisker ; dressed in a white slop, moleskin trousers, yellow plush vest bound with broad braid, heavy lace- up boots, and old billycock hat. Inlormation to be given to Superintendent Bray, Steyning, West Sussex, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 2. MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATIONS. Description of a man giving the name of JOHN THOMP- SON, supposed fictitious, committed to Haverfordwest Gaol for ten days, upon a charge of vagrancy : 36 years of age, 5 feet 3£ inches high, stout built, long dark brown hair, sandy whiskers, grey eyes and complexion, burn scar on light arm, cut scar a little below the lett elbow and on forehead ; dressed in a short moleskin jacket, vest, and trousers, dirty white cravat, no shirt, hei- vy boots, and black bowler hat; states he 19 a native of Ireland, and that he has been travelling about England und Wales; he seems well acquainted with prison discipline, and is supposed to be wanted elsewhere. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Cecil, Borough Police Office, Haverfordwest.— Bow- street, July 9. A coroner's warrant has been issued against HENRY WELLS, charged with manslaghter : he is about 40 years of a? e, 6 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, light whiskers, and supposed to have a crooked finger; dressed, when last seen, in moleskin trousers, black cap with peak, and heavy loce- up boots ; is a labourer, and has worked as a navvy in the New Docks, Chatham ; is said to have friends living near West Weltering, Sussex, and Sidlesham, near Chichester. Information to be given to Superintendent Everist, Chatham. — Loic- s'reet, July 9. Missing from her home at Marple, Cheshire, since the 1st instant: ALICE STORER, 22 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, light complexion, blue eyes, fresh looking, and subject to li s ; dressed in a black silk bonnet trimmed with plaid ribbon, li^ ht coloured shawl, light stuff dress patched with black upon each breast, and a pair of strong leather boots with brass eyelet boles, all much worn; it is feared that some ill has befallen her.
