Sussex, on the 23rd instant, charged with forgery, RICHARD HERRIOTT, a carpenter, 35 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, rather curly and nearly black hair, dark eyes, and proportionate figure ; dressed in dark clothes and high black hat, and had a carpet bag with hiin ; was last seen at the Victoria Station, London, on the above day. Information to be given to Super- intendent Bennett, Uckfield, Sussex, who holds a warrant for his apprehension, or at any Police Station in East Sussex.— J3ou>- street, June 20. ROEBEEY ANB LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person of Henry Willicombe, at Ilminster, on ttie 14th uliiino, an old- fashioned pair- case silver verge " Watch, large size, with steel Chain, an old copper Coin, and two small common Keys attached, aud a small silver ring at the end of the chain ; also a brown jean Purse, containing 18s. 3d. in silver Coin. By a man named CHAS. HENDY, a native of llminster, Somerset, about 28 years of age, 6 feet 9 or 10 inches high, stout make, rather curly brown hair, whiskers shaved off, walks very erect, tattooed on both arms, Las a bracelet on each wrist, figure of woman on one arm, ring on forefinger of left hand, and branded with letter ' D ' on breast ; dressed in a white slop, dark check vest, moleskin trousers, black cap with peak and brass button on each side, and heavy navvy boots with brass eyelet- holes, also has a pilot cloth coat with him, which he sometimes wears ; he is supposed to be working at either Landport Hants, where railway works are going: on, or at some fortifications in the Isle of Wight, and is supposed to be going in the name of CHARLES STONE ; has served in the army, and recently discharged. Information to be given to Superintendent Everitt, Somerset Constabulary, llminster, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 2. Stolen on the 13th instant, from the person of a gentleman in Manchester, a gold lever Watch, with white dial, engraved inside the inner case, ' presented to Arnold Johnson by a few friends, 1851 & c.' Any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the watch, shall receive £ 5 reward. Information to he given to Superintendent Anderton, C Divi- sion, Fairfield- street, Manchester.— bow- street, June 29. Stolen from the person on Ipswich Racecourse on the 21st instant, a silver Geneva Watch, gilt inside and outside, but the gilt much worn off on the outside. Also stolen, on the 22nd instant, a silver hunting Watch, silver face, No. 9414. Information to be given to Head Constable W. C. Mason, Borough Police Office, Ipswich.— Bou>- street, June 27. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Between 10 a. m. and 7 p. m. on the 25tli ultimo the house of Mrs. E. Belcher, of Berrick Salome, near Benson, Oxon, was broken and entered, and therefrom was stolen, the property of William Anderson, a suit of black cloth Clothes, nearly new, the coat and waistcoat trimmed round the edges with fine narrow braid, in the pocket of the coat was a gold Pencilease and a small leather Pouch containing a Pass on the London and Brighton Railway and a Pass on the Great Western Railway, from Paddington to Wallingford- road Station and back ; a pair of elastic side pegged Boots, recently soled ; two calico Shirts with linen fronts and wristbands, in the front of one of them was three gold Studs of different patterns ; a gold Pin with white glass set in silver ; and a large black leather B* g with no lining or fastening : and also, belonging to Mr. F. Belcher, a dark cloth Coat; a pair of light Trousers and Waistcoat, nearly new ; a silver Albert Guard ; ani two Sovereigns. By a tramp, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark brown hair aud whiskers, much sunburnt, rather slight made, walks erect, and has the appear- ance of an old soldier ; dressed in a black cloth coat, brown waistcoat, dark cord trousers, lace- u,) shoes with small round headed nails, two rows of which are close togethei outside of soles, large scarf with red and yellow stripes, and a dark cap ; was traced on the London road by Henley- on- Thames the following morning. Information to be given to Superin- tendent H. Seers, Watlington, Oxon— Bow- street, July 2. Between the hours of 6 a. m. and 7 p. m. on the 27th inst., the dwelling- house of Wm. Harrington, labourer, of Frimley, Surrey, was broken into, and the following property stolen therefrom : a pair of cord Trousers aud Vest to match, a cloth pilot Coat, a black cloth frock Coat, a Vest, a pair of black cloth Trousers, much worn, a pair of men's old lace- up Boots, and a German silver Watch, very old and broken in the face. Supposed by a tramp, who left a very old black coat and vest behind. Information to be given to Superintendent Newland, Surrey Constabulary, Farnhatu, or to Sergeant Hyde, Frimley, Surrey.— Bow- street, June 29. A warrant has been issued against WILLIAM alias BILLY GLEW, a returned convict, for housebreaking at Normanby, about the 16th instaut: about 40 years of age, 5 feet inches high, fresh complexion, light hair, lost the left eye, the other is blue, pockpitted, two boil marks on right shoulder blade ; dressed in white slop or jacket buttoned down front with band at bottom, old brown or hairy cap with peak which he usually wears over the left brow ; is a labourer, and a native of Scawby, ne . r Brigg. He is supposed to be in the neighbourhood of Sheffield, Rotherham, or Hull. The fol lowing property is still missing: a black cloth Coat, a silk Handkerchief, a diaper Tablecloth, six plated Tea Spoons, a pair of plated Sugar Tongs, and a pair of silver Sugar Tongs. Information to be given at the County Police Office, Lincoln, where lies the warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 27- During the night of the 21st instant the dwelling- house of Nicholas Newnham, of Sompting, was broken and entered, and there was stolen therefrom : a pair of woman's kid elastic side- spring Boots, been repaired at back ; six llaudkerchiefs, some marked * Linberry' others ' Newnham'; a pair of cotton Stockings, marked with red cotton ' J. L.' j a new fine flrinnel Shirt ; a cotton Chemise, repaired ; and some chamber Towels. Information to be given to Inspector Henderson, West Sussex Constabulary, Worthing.— Bow- street, June' 2.7. Between 11 a. m. and 4* 30 p. m. on the 25th instant the house of Mr. Cruikshank, boot and shoemaker, Hanley, was entered by means of skeleton keys, and the following property stolen : a gentleman's gold lever Watch with cream- coloured dial, sunk seconds, compensation balance wheel, heavy for its size, of good quality, maker Hargreaves, Liverpool; a gold Albert Guard, snake pattern, with Albert Key and gold Drop with three- sided Seal attached ; a lady's gold Chain, snake pattern; about 30 yards of black Silk; a black silk velvet Mantle, nearly new ; a black lace Shawl, partly worn ; a silk striped coloured Shawl; and a quantity of Postage Stamps. £ 5 reward will be given for such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the o( lender or offenders and recovery of the property or in proportion to the amount recovered. Information to be given to Superintendent Stuart, Police Office, Hanley, or at any Police Office in Staffordshire.— Bow- street, June 27. Between noon and 6 p. m. on the 22nd instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. George Brown, of Weston, farmer, was broken and entered during the absence of the family, and the following property stolen therefrom : a brown mixture ribbed cloth Coat, slack back, three pockets outside, dark bone buttons, hound with black or brown worsted braid ; a single- breasted Vest, same material as coat, bone buttons, velvet collar, bound with braid ; a pair of black and white plaid cloth Trousers, fall front, watch pocket and two side pockets ; a pair of light mixture tweed Trousers, fall front; a pair of black cloth Trousers, fall front, threadbare at knees, mended in thigh, torn at bottoms ; a white cotton Shirt with linen buttons, front, and wristbands, slit on back, live plaits in front; an unbleached cotton Shirt, dirty, broad plait in front, linen buttons ; a white cotton Shirt, linen buttons, very short flaps, three plaits in front; a silver Watch Guard, broken at the swivel; and about 6 lbs. of Bacon. Supposed by two tramps, who were seen in the neighbourhood : one, about GO years of age, 6 feet 10 inches high, slender made, little or no whiskers, sallow complexion ; dressed in dark shabby coat and vest, light coloured trousers, low shoes, and black hat: the other, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, rather stout made, dark complexion, walked lame; dressed in dark shabby suit and black billycock hat. One of the men may be wearing a white smock under his coat, or they may both be wearing some of the stolen articles. £ 1 reward will be given to any person that will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property, or in proportion to the amount recovered. Information to be given to Superintendent Sykes, West Riding Constabulary, Otley, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, June 25. Between the hours of 10 a. m. and 2 p. m. on the 21st instant, the dwelling- house of Abraham Kenworthy, of Rag- ston, in the township of Saddleworth, farmer, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therefrom : a blue cloth sac Coat, about half worn, has two pockets outside, and one inside left breast; a blue cloth sleeved Vest; a pair of light- coloured woollen cord Trousers, with white bone buttons, the bottom of ri^ lit slop slightly marked with red riddle; two pairs of men's lace- up ankle Boots, much worn; two blue and white plaid silk Handkerchiefs, much worn; a black handled Razor in leather case, the ends of which are worn to holes; about 3 lbs. of Ham, and ten cakes of Bread. Two tramps of the following description, who were Been near the premises, are suspected ; they weie traced on the road towards Huddersfield : one about 30 years of age, 6 feet 10 inches high, sandy whiskers, and prominent nose; the other about 20 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, sindy whiskers and moustache. It is supposed that they are wearing the stolen boots and coat, as two paiis of old boots and an old cloth coat were left upon the premises. Supposed to have been stolen durin„ . le night of the 25th ultimo, trom a field at Peacocks Hay, Wolstanton, two Ponies; one a dark brown mure, 4 years old, 13 hands high, long tail, newly Bhod, and in good condition ; the other a light brown l'lorse, 5 years old, 11 or 12 hands high, and in good condition. Information to be given to Inspector Scott, Police Office, Tunstall, Staffordshiie.— Bwo- street, July 2. Supposed to have been stolen from a field in the parish of Worksop, Notts, on the night of the 24th ultimo, three fat Sheep, marked on the near side with the letter ' B.'; the property of Mr. Joseph Beard, Worksop, farmer and miller. If Btolen, a reward ot Six Guineas will be paid by Mr. Beard and the Worksop Association for the Prosecution of Felons to any person giving such information as will lead to the convic- tion of the offender or offenders. Supposed to have been stolen from a field in the parish of Cardington, Salop, ou the night of the 25th instant, the pro- perty of Mr. D. Mytton, a browu mare Pony, about ( i or 7 yrs. of age, atout 14 liauds high, has recently been fired on the near land hock, aud has some hair off the near hip from an old wound. Information to be given to Police Constable Williams, Easthope, near Wellington, Salop.— Bystreet, June 21). In the posses; ion of the Police at Oldbury, supposed to have been stolen, a dark chestnut mare Pony, half bred, about G years old, aud about 14 hands high, flaxen mane and tail, white face, aud the appearance of white wart marks inside each ear ; said to have been brought from Bromsgrove fair on the 26th instant. The person with whom it was found Btands com- mitted for trial at the ensuing quarter sessions for the county of Worcester, on a charge of horse stealing. Found, supposed to have been stolen, on the 20th instant, a white mare Pony, aged, about 12 hands high, switch tail, and a swelling on near side of neck, and in low condition. Stolen from Maes- gwyn, in the parish of Guilsfield on the night of the 23id instaut, a small light brown gelding Ass, rising 3 years old, has a patch of hair rubbed off the left hip, neatly Bhod, in good condition, and goes well in harness. Sup- posed by gipsies or tinkers. Information to be given to Police Officer Thomas, Guilsfield, or to the Chief Constable's Office, Wehshpool, Montgomeryshire,— Bow- street, June 27. Supposed to have been stolen, from a field at Woolston, near Oswestry, on the 13th instant, a cream- coloured mare Pony, black mane aud tail, aged, and in low condition. Supposed to have been stolen from a grove in Tettenhall Wood, on the night of the 20th instant, two horse Ponies: one a chesuut, G years old, about 12^ hands high, lump on near side nostril; the other a bay, about 11 hands high, white spot on hind quarter, long black tail, and black legs. Both had head collars on. Information to be given to Inspector Bradey, Tettenhall, or to Police Constable Smith, Compton. — Brno street, June 26. Stolen on the night of the 19th instant, from the Clive, Shropshire, a large ewe Sheep marked ' A. P.' in a circle on left side. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT Absconded on tbe 26th ultimo, from No. 17, Gloucester- gardens, Paddington, stealing £ 20 in Gold and three £& Bank of England Notes, NOB 82031, 82032, and 82033: a mm, 39 years of age, 6 feet 9 inches high, fair complexion, red hair and whiskers; dressed in black suit,— Mt'ropolitm Police, X Division, July 1, Description of ANN WEBB, charged with stealing a linen Sheet and two Blankets, the property of Mary Davis, of Watford : SO years of age, 6 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark com- plexion, dark wavy hair, nnd sickly appearance; dressed in daik clothes, all ol< i and dirty ; has a little girl with her, ahout 4 years old; her husband is a saddler and harness maker, and travels in the name of Alfred Webb, alias Joseph Coding ; left Rickmansworth on tie ' 26t. li ultimo, for Paildington, where they are supposed to be known. Absconded from Yaimouth, Isle of Wight, on the 21st ultimo, charged « ith stealing seveial gold and silver Watches, ( since fou d pledged), the property of his employer, Mr. Geo. S. Meager, silversmith ot the above place: WM. SMITH, alias RICH, about 24 or 25 y. ars of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, full face, fr- sh complexion, dark biown hair, thin dark whiskers and moustache ; dressed when he absconded, in a dark jacket nearly new, dark trousers and vest, black felt low- crowted hat, end is a native of Brightou. He has committed similar iffences ar. Burgess- hill, Croydon, and London. £ 2 reward will be paid for bis apprehension. Information to be given to Superintendent E. Absconded, charged on a warrant with embezzlement: WILLIAM GEORGE EARNSHAW, lately in the employ of Messrs. James steams and Co., ot London and Liverpool, from 28 to 30 years ot a^ e, 5 feet 8J niches high, dark com- plexion, black hair and whiskers, slight Moustache, proportionate make; dres- ed re.- pectably, and wears spectacles; when last seen walked very lame, as if from rheumatism. £ 10 reward will be paid hy his employers to any person giving such infor- mation as will lead to bis apprehension. Absconded on the 27' h ultimo, charged on a warrant with stealing £ 160: EDWARD HENRY WILSON, cashier, 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, full whiskeis and moustache, dark eves, swaggering gait, and apeaks quickly; dressed in dark cutaway coat and vest, light trousers, black bat, and wears a cameo ring; he may be accompanied hy a female. The name of the man charged with stealing the sum of £ 2 6s. 4d., advert sed in the Police Gazette of the - 20th inst., as having absconded from Monmouth, is MARK CATTLEY, JOHN BARER being a name he assumed about IS months ago, on being released from Monmouth County Gaol, where he had been confined for embezzlement. lie is a little lame from an injury to one of his ankles while in prison. Absconded on the 22nd instant, stealing a mixed coloured Muffler; a woman's tight fitting peach coloured llama Jacket; a muslin Skiit, 1 vender ground with black and white stripe ; a coarse linen Apron; and a blue and white plaid market Handkerchief, the property of James Berry, Halliwell: a woman, 26 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, light brown wavy hair, sallow complexion, thin features; supposed ti have come from Manchester. Information to be given to Superintendent John R. Scott, Town Hall, Little Bolton, Lwcashire,— Bow- street, June 29. By a man who asked to see some rings, and » bile looking over thein, substituted a metal nog set with crystals in plaiw of the one stolen : he is about 40 to 45 yens of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, thin make, fair hair, aud lair thin whiskers, sunburnt, has a rough voice ; dress.' d iu a suit of mixture tweed cloth and black hat, carried a small Mack walking s. ick with a silver ferule, and hud on his finger a gold signet ring with a white sardonyx stone. Stolen from a puhlic- house at Dunholme, between 3 and 5 p. m. on the 25th instant, a Purse, containing .£ 10 or £ 12 in Gold. By a man about 40 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, grey whiskers, and rather stout; diessed in dark coat, old fustian trousers, and cap ; travels the country selling cloth caps, which he carries in a mat hasket. Information to be giveu at the County Police Office, Liicoln.— Bow- sttree, June 27. * Description of JOSEPH GILL, who is charged with larceny at Thirsk : he is a native of Middleton, near Ripon, about 29 yeais of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, sallow complexion, rather freckled, light hair, slender figure; dressed in a grey stable suit much worn and torn, old shoes, and cap; is a groom aud generally resides at Ripon. He is much giveu to drinking, aud will probably be tound in the company of low horse dealers, & c. He left Thirsk on the 16th instant, and is supposed to have gone northwaids. Infor- mation to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Howard, North Riding Constabulary, Northallerton, or to Inspector Thomas Smith, Thirsk, Yorkshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 27. Description of GEORGE HOOK, pawnbroker's assistant, who absconded from Coventry, on the 13th instant, charged with embezzling various sums of money, belonging to his master: he is 21 years of age, 5 ftet 10 inches high, sallow complexion, dark brown straight hair, full face, the bridge of his nose has been broken by a blow, no beard or moustache, and proportionate make ; dressed in black ribbed jacket, light trousers, and high- crowned black deerstalker hat; it is likely ke will apply to pawnbrokers for employment, or enlist in the army. A warrant has been granted for his apprehension. Information to be given to Mr. John Norris, Chief of Polioe, Coventry.— Bom- street, June 25. on the 21st, instant: an emerald Ring, small diamond on each side ; a pink amethyst Ring ; a yellow t paz Ring with three stones, old- fashioned setting; a gentkm tu's gold mourning Itiug, has been made smaller on the inside with a piece of gold, underneath which is an inscription ' To the memory of Martha Squire '; a diamond Ring, the diamond held iu a claw ; two gold wedding Kings, with pendaut hearts, one side ot which has a eavity for hair ; a pearl Ring, five pearls, one missing ; a gold Locket, cross on one side, contains the portrait of a gentleman aud also hair ; a silver Fruit Knife, inother- o'- pearl handle ; a silver Penny,. Twopenny, Threepenny, and Four- penny- piece, of the present year, called Maundy Money; two silver Coins with Roman figures, supposed Maundy Money ; a square shaped old- fashioned Brooch, ser in gold, various stones, a tongue in the middle.; some cut. Coral ; clasp of garnet Stores ; three Links taken from a pearl necklace ; an old- fashioned gold Ring, raised dots round it ; vaii..
