As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W., u as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. On the 28tli ultimo, the dead body of a newly- born male infant wan found murdered in the parish churchyard at Dews- bury, wrapped in a piece of old white cotton, and also in a piece of old black cotton stitched close round the body. A reward of £ 60 will be paid by the Government to any person or persons who shall give such information and evidence as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the murderer or murderers, and Sir George Grey will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice ( not being the actual murderer,) who shall give such evidence as shall lead to the like result. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Millar, Borough Police, Dewsbury, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, June 18. Absconded, ROBERT HALLEY, a native of Perthshire, a wood forester or hedger, lately residing at Chapel, in the parish of Johnstone and county of Dumfries, charged with an assault and theft : he is about 32 years of age, 6 feet 8 or 9 inches high, slender make, dark eyes, thin sharp nose, long thin hands and feet, very dark brown hair, long on back part of head, dark whiskers and moustache, worn long and rough, of smart, active appearance, and walks erect; generally dressed in a dark tweed coat and vest, and buif- coloured corded trousers, blncher boots, and low- crowned felt hat. Information to be given to the Chief Constable of Dumfriesshire.— Bow- street, June 11. Stolen about 10 p. m. the 2nd instant, from the person of a gentleman, at Hunt's Bank, a gold lever Watch, white dial, a dent on outside case, makers Bunyan & Gardner, Manchester, No. 768. Any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the watch, shall receive £ 5 reward, on appli- cation to Captain Palin, Chief Constable, Town Hall, King- street, Manchester.— Bow- itreet, June 11. Between the hours of 6 and 8 p. m. on the 13th of April last, Sarah Melvin, aged 5 years, was found murdered on a pathway leading from Carr's Hill to the Felling, in the borough of Gateshead, in the counry of Durham, with a cord round her neck and her hands tied behind her. A coroner's inquest was held on the body of the said Sarah Melvin, and a verdict of ' ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown,' was returned. A reward of £ 100 will be paid by Her Majesty's Government to any person who shall give such information and evidence as shall lead to the apprehension of the offender or offenders ; and the Right Hon. Sir George Grey will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who shall give such evidence as shall lead to the same result. In- formation to be given to Chief Constable Elliott, Town Hall, Gateshead, Durham.— Bow- street, June 18. WM. QUICKFALL, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 13th instant, charged with shooting at, with intent to murder John Waddingham, a Police Constable at Crowleonthe 10th instant, has been apprehended.— Bow- street, June 18. JOBBERY AND LARCENY FROM i THE PERSON- Stolen from the person of a gentleman in High- street, Watford, on the 12th instant, a double- backed f- plate gold lever Watch, maker R. Thompson, Newcastle, No. 14023. £& reward will be paid on the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the Watch. Information to be given to Superintendent Hilsden, Watford, Herts.— Bow- street, June 15. Stolen betweeD 8 p. m. the 11th, and 4 a. m. the 12th instant, from the person of Barnett Gascoigne, of Greasbrough, collier, in a cabin at the Aldwarke Colliery, Rawmarsli : a German silver verge Watch, No. 48G9, consular cases, enamel dial, maker Win. Howard, London : aud a fustian Purse with steel clasp, containing £ 4 10s. in Gold. Information to be given to Superintendent Gillett, Court House, Rotherham, Yorkshire. — Bow- street, June 15. About 12 midnight the 7th inst., as JOSEPH CLARKE, of Haugsman Stone, toll- bar keeper, was passing on the high- way at Oxspring, he was knocked down by two men, and robbed of a silver lever Watch, small size, engine- turned case, point of hour hand broken off, had attached a silver Guard with one link broken, and a new swivel put on lately, No. 18849, and a drill 1 urse containing a few Shillings ; they are of the following description : one about 37 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dark hair and whiskers meeting under the chin, stout built, and dressed in a short white smock tied round the - waist, and dark- coloured soft billycock hat ; the other about 30 years of age, 6 feet 5 or 6 inches high, slight built, and dressed in a brown velvet shooting jacket, black billycock hat, and supposed to have had breeches aud leggings on. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent GreenhaJgh, West Riding of York Constabulary, Barnsley.— JBoio- strect, June 13. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Between the hours of 12 p. m. and 3 a. m. of the Cth inst, Arborfield Hall, the residence of Thomas Hargreaves, Esq., was burglariously broken and entered, and the following pro- perty stolen therefrom : a double bottomed gold military Hunting Watch, figures engraved on the outside, and small glass in centre of ditto, maker Robert Roskell, Liverpool, No. 66020, with a gold Bramah Key, short Chain, a gold Key, and Seal with crest and Arborfield Hall engraved upon it attached ; a large dark gold Ring, pointed oval hair with fleur- de- lis and berpent, and ' E. B.' in cypher, in gold, under crystal inscription inside with date ' 1783'; and a grey plaid Shooting Coat. £ 10 reward will be paid for the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property. Information to be given to Superintendent Millard, County Police Office, Wokingham, Berks.— Bow- st., June 18. The tramps charged with housebreaking at Bentley and Binstead on the 9th, and advertised in the Police Gazette of the 11th instant, have both been committed to take their trial at the next Winchester Quarter Sessions : Richardson stated he had been convicted for larceny in Oxford, and received eighteen months hard labour, and was discharged from Oxford County Gaol on the 1st of January last. Information to be given to Superintendent Cheyney, Hants Constabulary Station, Alton.— Bow- street, June 18. During the night of the 9th instant, the dwelling- house of Joseph Juion, Esq., of Chorley, near Macclesfield, was broken and entered, and stolen therefrom : a pair of new Boots, men's size, elastic sides and false laces in front, toes capped ( holes in). Information to be given to Superintendent Williamson, County Constabulary, Macclesfield.— Bow- street, June 15. Stolen from the dwelling- house of Mr. Peter Barfoot, of New Barn Farm, Southwick, on the night of the 3rd instant, by means of housebreaking : two old- fashioned silver Table Spoons, one marked ' H. H. I.', the other ' A. H.', and a pair of boy's lace- up Boots, tipped, nailed with round- headed nails, and very much worn at the ankle. Also stolen on the following night, from the dwelling- house of Ellen Winderbank, of Cosham, by means of housebreaking : a dark tweed shooting Jacket with two outside pockets, and one outside breast pocket the left side, and a two- foot Rule in one of the pockets. Supposed by tramps. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Drew, Hants Constabulary, Fareham.— Bow- st., June 13. The hut of Captain Brereton, 81st Regiment, South Camp, Aldershot, was broken and entered on the night of the 6th instant, and the following articles stolen therefrom : a gold signet Ring, bloodstone, with crest— boar's head muzzled rising from a coronet; a set of Studs, gold and turquoise; a breast Pin, fox tooth set in gold ; some plated Forks and Spoons, initials * R. K. B.' on handle ; a black cloth evening Suit; two black morning cloth Coats with Vests; a black frock Coat with eilk facings ; a rather worn Suit of light grey tweed ; two pairs of light Trousers ; a pair of dark brown ditto ; a light drab Overcoat; more than a dozen white Shirts; a white flannel Shirt; and a Sheet, all marked ; also a pair of regimental Trousers, new. The clothes made for a person 6 feet 7 inches high. £ 2 reward will be paid on the appre- hension and conviction of the offender or offenders. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Howard, Hants Con- stabulary, Aldershot.— Bow- street, June 13. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Supposed to have been stolen from a field at Bloxwich, near Walsall, during the night of the 11th instant, a dark brown cart Mare, aged, 16 hands high, white star on forehead, and in good condition. Information to be given to the Chief of Police, Walsall, or to Sergeant Martin, Bloxwich, near Walsall, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, June 18. Supposed to have been stolen, between 7 p. m. 12th, and 7 a. m. on the 13th instant, from a field at Llannerch Farm, Llanymowddwy, the property of Robert Jones, a light brown Mare, 7 years old, about 14J hands high, three fetlocks white, and one black, also a light brown mare Pony, 6 years old, from 12 to 13 hands high, one white fetlock, white stripe on forehead, and black stripe on left shoulder. Information to be given to Polioe Constable Hughes, Dinasmowddwy, or at the Chief Constable's Office, Dolgelley, Merionethshire.— Bou>- street, June 18. • Supposed to have been stolen from a field at Cheadle on the 11th instant, a gray cart Mare, aged, about 16 hands high, has an old wound which lias been healed up on one buttock. Information to be given to Mr. Joseph Bowden, Farmer's Arms, Cheadle Heath ; to Superintendent Steen, Hazel Grove; or to Sergeant Bolshaw, Cheadle, Cheshire.— Bow- street, June 18. Stolen on the 12th instant, from Stones End, a roan Gelding, 16 hands 2 inches high, small scar on side of near knee, near hind fetlock white; a Saddle; Bridle; double Reins; Snaffle; and Curb Bits. By a man, 21 years of age, 6 feet 7 inches high, pale complexion, dark bail'; dressed in light coat and trousers, and patent leather boots with white pearl buttons.— Metropolitan Police, M Division, June 18. Stolen between 6 p. m. on the 11th, and 6 a. m. the 12th instant, from a field at Jeskins Farm, Cobham : a bay Mare, about 14 hands high, off hind foot white, a great quantity of hair about the head and nose, and in good condition; a black gelding Pony, 12J hands high, very fat, long mane and tail, the hair of tail has been cut off near the rump, of the Welsh breed. Information to be given to Superintendent Everist, Chatham, Kent.— Bow- street, June 15. Supposed to have been stolen from an orchard in the parish of Soutfleet, on the night of the 13th instant, a chesnut mare Pony, about 10 years old, about 13 hands high, three white feet, white star on forehead, white spot on back, broom tail, in good condition; tbe property of Joseph Solomon. Information to be given to Superintendent Brandon, Police Office, Dartford, Kent.— Bow- street, June 16. GEORGE ROGERSON, late of Friskney, Lincolnshire, a drover, about 36 years of age, 6 feet 5 inches high, dark hair, rather sallow complexion, and dressed in dark clothes, trousers fit tight to his legs, has the appearance of a groom or stable- man— is charged with selling three Beasts which were intrusted to him to drive from Boston to Raithley, near Spilsby, and absconding with the money on the 9th instant for tbe South. He once lived in Moultan, or near Holbeach, where he kept a publichouse. Information to be given to Superintendent Wright, County Police Station, Spilsby, Lincolnshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bou>- ttreet, June 15. Stolen from a field in Overton on the 24th ultimo, a large sized grey Donkey, with black nose, has a cut mark on the right hind foot, the property of Mr. Lightfoot, who will give a reward of 10s. on recovery of the donkey and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to he given to Superintendent G wynne, Tarporley, or to Sergeant Hilton, Police Office, Frod- shain, Cheshire.— Boc- street, June 15. JOHN CROCOMBE GREEN, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 21st ultimo, charged with obtaining a Horse, Harness and Phaeton, by false pretences, at Bridgwater, Somerset, has been committed for trial; the horse and phaeton have been recovered, but the harness is still missing.— Bow- street, June 15. Supposed to have been stolen on the night of the 9th inst., from a field at Chesham, Bucks, a brown Mare, aged, about 13 hands high, bang tail, rather low condition, and rather a long mane, supposed to have ' L' on off shoulder. Informa- tion to be given to Inspector Dunham, Chesham, Bucks,— Bow- street, June 13. Supposed to have been stolen on the night of the 9th inst., from a field at Hall Green, Yardley, Worcestershire, a bay nag Mare, about 15 hands high, aged, white hind feet, star on fore- head, a small patch ot white on one forefoot, and has been lately trimmed round the legs. Information to be given to Inspector Welch, Solihull, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, June 13. Stolen on the morning of the 4th instant, from East Hagbourn, Berks, a chesnut horse Pony, about 6 years old, near 12 hands high, white star on forehead, saddlemark on back, one shoe off fore leg, the property of Thomas Lewis, gipsy. Information to be given to Inspector W. Mansell, Berks Constabulary, Wallingford.— Bow- street, June 11. Supposed to have been stolen on the 7th instant, from a field at Wandon, near Rugeley, a brown Welsh horse Pony, 6 years old, about 13 hands high, tail cut square above the hocks. Information to be given to Superintendent Adams, Stafford, or to Sergeant Goddard, Rugeley.— Bow- si., June 11. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT Absconded on the 8th instant, from Nos. 33 and 34, King- street, Clerkenwell, embezzling £ 219, a man, 23 years of age, 6 feet 10 inches high, florid complexion, prominent nose, no whisners, slight moustache, dark curly hair; dressed in dark mixture shooting coat, light worsted cord trousers, light blue scarf with small gold pin, and felt hat— Metropolitan Police, G Division, June 18. Absconded from Chippenham on the 13th instant, charged with stealing 12 yards of alpaca ( which has been recovered), the property of Sarah Ann Ward, GEORGE HENSON, a tailor, supposed to belong to Bristol, about 31 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, light complexion, light brown hair and whiskers, and dressed in a loose brown jacket, brown waistcoat with gilt buttons, dark grey trousers, blue scarf, black low crowned hat, and lace- up boots; has been a patient in the General Hospital at Bristol, but discharged therefrom about three weeks ago; he walks rather slow and lame. Informs tion to be given to Superintendent Staples, Chippenham, Wilts, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 18. Absconded 011 the 30th ultimo, a man named MATT. GUSTARD, charged with embezzling several small sums of money belonging to his raastei, John Snntb, grocer, Blyth : he is 21 years ot age, 6 feet 9 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair, full face, large features, no whiskers, stout made, heavy countenance, thick lips, awkward gait, and hangs his head when walking; dressed in dark clothes when he left. It is supposed that he will make tor some seaport town and endeavour to get to America. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Wookey, Bulmans Village, Newcasile- on Tyn. or to Inspector Taylor, Blyth, Northumberland Con- stabulary, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- iU cet. A middle aged woman is remanded at Wisbech charged with felony, and is strongly suspected of having committed other ' Offences: she states her nauie to be JANE SMITH, supposed tu he fictitious, 47 years of age, 5 feet 7i inches high, blotchy complexion, hazel eyes, end hrown hair; dressed iu dark clothes ( extremely ragged, shabby and dirty); states she maintains herself by knitting stockings. Information to be given to Head Constabl- Eison, Borough Police, Wisbech, Isle of Ely, or to the Governor of the Prison, Wisbech, who will fornard a photograph of the pritouer upon application.— — Bern street, June 18. Description uf WILLIAM WHITE, charged with stealing a Scythe ( suice recovered), from E- istolt: 62 yearn of age, 6 feet 4j niches high, grey hair, dark complexion, long visage, scar on leit cheek bone, and stout l> uilt; is a labourer, a nativ.' of Northampton, and occasionally works for farmers, repairing sacks, & e. Idas been convicteu ot felony at Kirtou Lindsey, Lincolnshire, and twice 111 the West Riding of Yo: k, una is well known at Goole and Brigg. Information to be given to Superintendent Hebditch, Epworth, Lincolnshire.— Biiw- Hreet, June IS. Description of ALFRED BIVAN, v. ho absconded from Cheltenham on the 10th instant, charged with larceny : he is about 20 years ot age, 6 f « . et 6 or G inches high, dark com- plexion ; dressed in a dark coat, plaid trousers, and deerstalker hat; he is a painter, says he belongs to Cheltenham, and was last seen in Worcester applying for work, and is supposed to have gone in the direction of Birmingham. Information to be given to Superintendent Day, Cheltenham, who holds a warrant tor his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 16. Stolen from the bouse of Samuel Cockayne, retail brewer, Aston, near Birmingham, about 3 p. m. 11th instaut, about £ 40 in gold and silver in a leather purse : by a female servant, a returned convict, about 26 years of age, 5 feet 4 inche6 high, hair turning grey, and e; out make ; dressed in a blue bonnet with a white feather, black cloth jacket, snuft- coloured dress trimmed with black velvet. She was last seen with a man, about 20 years of age, dark hair, small sandy whiskers, pale face, and thin spare make ; he talked of going to Sheffield. Description of JOHN SMITH, who absconded from Cheltenham on the 11th ultimo, charged with stealing two bushels of Odts. he is 26 years of age, about 6 feet 10 inches high, light hair, small light sandy whiskers, and fresh com- plexion ; he was formery a porter iu the employ of Chaplin and Borne, is a butcher by trade, and has a fattier and mother living at Newton Longville, Bucks, to which place he is sup- posed to have gone, Information to be given to Superintendent Day, Cheltenham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — bow street, June 13, Absconded, charged on a warrant with embezzlement, FRANCIS AUST, 24 years of age, 6 feet 6 or 7 inches high, light hair, slight moustache, ruddy complexion, stout, broad shoulders; dressed well and smart. In company with a man, 21 years of age, 6 feet G inches high, dark complexion and hair, slight moustache. They are supposed to be leading very- loose lives, and are both well known at taverns in towns in the south- eastern, southern, and south- western counties of England. Information to be given to Inspector Hamilton, City of London Police, Detective Department, 2G, Old Jewry, E. C.- Bow- street, June 13. Description of WILLIAM ROBINSON, who ii charged with stealing a Saddle and Bridle : 1U years of age, 6 feet inches high, sallow complexion, light brown hair, browu eyes", marks of sore on centre of brow ; is a native of Knot Mill, Manchester, and was lately employed by a horse dealer, escort ing horses from fair to iair. Information to be giv n to the Head Constable, Town Hall, Birkenhead, Cheshire.— Brno- street, June 13. Absconded from Rochdale on the 23rd ultimo, ROBERT RILEY CHADWICK, a warehouseman, charged on warrant with embezzlement. He is about 32 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, tresh complexion, dark brown hair, brown eyes, proportionate make, has a small scar on the top of his nose, small moustache, and tuft of hair on chin ; dressed in a blue pilot jacket, pockets outside, bound with broad braid, generally wears a black cloth coat underneath, light mixture trousers and vest, and billycock or low- crowned hat; he is of smart and respectable appearance, and fond of races and gambling. £ 20 reward will be paid to any person who will give such informa- tion as will lead to his apprehension, at the Borough Police Office, Rochdale,— Bow- sir eei, June 11. Description of CHRISTOPHER HUNT, of Cranborne, who is charged with stealing six Fowls, from Mrs. Loader, of Sutton, in the parish of Gussage St. Michael, Dorset, on the night of the 4th instant: about 26 years of age, 6 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fair complexion, sandy hair, large red whiskers and beard; dressed in black velveteen jacket, cord trousers, black cloth cap with peak, black leather leggings, and navvy boots. He has been working as a navvy and also as a brick- layer's labourer. Information to ba given to Superintendent Baynton, Wimborne, Dorset, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bw- itreet, June 11. Absconded from Wolverhampton, on the 6th instant, charged with stealing £ 227 in Gold; a red mixture Carped bag; a pink leather clasp Purse ; and a banking account Book of the Wolverhampton and Staffordshire Bank, WILLIAM TAYLOR, about 27 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, pale complexion, small light whiskers, tuft of hair on chin; dressed in black cloth dress coat and waistcoat, woollen cord trousers, brown overcoat with velvet collar and side pockets, blue aDd white scarf, small gold pin with violet- coloured stone, and black billycock hat: worked as a labourer in the Goods Department of the London and North- Western Railway at Wolverhampton. £ 6 reward will be paid by Mrs. Rushton, of Southampton- street, Wolverhampton, for his apprehension. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Wol- verhampton, Staffoidshire, where a warrant is lodged for his arrest.— bow- street, June 11. Stolen from a dwelling- house iu Bolton, on the 28th ult. » four black Scarf Shawls, a Paisley ditto ditto, with silk fringe ; two woollen plaid Shawls, one with drab border, the other red ; a lius y Skirt, bound with blue ; a red, peach,' and grey striped Skirt; a blue flannel Petticoat ; a black satin Dress, with loose jacket body ; a red and black bkirt; and two black alpaca quilted Skirts. By a woman about ( 53 years of age, 6 feet 4 inches high, daik hair turning grey, and dressed in a black bonnet, black stuff dress, drab plaid shawl, and elastic- side hoots. Information to be given to Chief Constable James Harris, Borough Police Office, Bolton, Lancashire.— Boio- street, Jutis 11. A warrant lias btea issued against GEORGE WILLIAM MEWITT, charged with stealing at Brighton 011 the G h inst, a black cloth Coat, hound with braid, two pockets behind and breast; a light Coat, pockets on the hips; two pairs of Trou.- ers, one pair dark, the other light; two pairs of Boots, one pair balmotals, the other side- spring ; and other articles. He is of the fallowing description : between 17 and 18 j ears of age, 6 feet 2 inches high, light complexion and hair, small light blue eyes, heavy expression of countenance ; he absconded i'wm the ! u . n on the 6th instant, a.-. d is supposed to be wearing some of the stolen property as he left eoni of his own clothes behind ; he left with two " boys and is supposed to be making his v. ay to London. MARY ARMSTRONG, 33 years of age, 6 feet 14 inches high, blue eyes, dark brown hair, large mouth, with very prominent teeth in front of upper jaw, which project over her lower lip when talking, round face, fresh complexion, proportionate make, and is a native ot Ireland. Tuey are husband and wife, and have two children, one a girl about 3 years old, the other about 6 months old. It is supposed that they have been previously convicted. Description of a man committed for trial at Brecon, charged with stealing a horse at Builth, Breconshire, on the 8th instant, JOSHUA SIMONDS, 26 years of age, about 5 feet 3 inches nigh, dark complexion, sun burnt, very thick brown hair cut short, long oval features, upper front teeth large and rather prominent, low forehead, great toe of the right foot turns in under the second, aud the top of the right toe appears between the second and third, a very large bunion on the great toe joint, marks of cut on the second joint of the forefinger of left hand and between the first and second joint of the third finger, and a little round shouldered ; dressed in a dark cloth cap with a brass button on each side with eBgine on them, dark frieze cloth double breasted overcoat, pockets outside, lined with very poor plaid drugget, dark small cord trousers nearly new and too long for him, and light lace- up boots ; has the appearance of not having been long out of gaol, stateshe is a bricklayer's labourer, but refuses to state where he is from. He had in his possession when apprehended a Bible and Common Prayer Book with black covers, and both nearly new ; a Psalm and Hymn Book, black cover, a little worn ( each book has the flyleaf torn out, where probably the name was written on). Description of a man who gave the name of WILLIAM BROOKS, committed to the next assizes for the county of Kent, charged with burglary. S. D.' pricked in on the left arm in Indian ink ; dressed in cord trousers, black cloth coat, black cap with peak, and lace up boots : has been working a short time as a miner's labourer, and is supposed to be a Dorsetshire man. She states she is a native of Dublin, but has been working in a factory at Manchester for several years. It is supposed she has committed offences else- where, and been previously convicted of felony. THOMAS GILHAM, navvy, of Folkestone, 38 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair and whiskers, and stoutly built ; dressed in short white slop, black and white check waistcoat, dirty fustian trousers, old lace- up shoes, and brown cap. Description of a man . and woman in custody, charged with being in possession of housebreaking implements. BENJAMIN BEAL, 27 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, grey eyes, iight brown hair, long face, no whiskers or beard, swarthy com- plexion, a cross aud anchor on the right arm, a sailor holding a pistol in one hand and a flag in the ether, the word ' brick,' and several other marks, which are not intelligible, on the left arm ; states he is a native of Hull, and is a chair bottomer; dressed in a black cloth coat, pockets with flaps at the sides, black cloth vest, cloth trousers of a mixed colour, and black billycock hat ; and ANN BEAL, 26 years of age, about the middle height, hazel eyes, brown hair, swarthy complexion, and has a deep scar over the left eyebrow ; dressed in a brown woollen and cotton dress, black cloth mantle, and a black silk drawn bonnet ; she is also a chair bottomer. The following Pawn Tickets were found upon her, which it is supposed relate to stolen property : one for a Shirt, 2s, GJ., and one for a Handkerchief, Is., pledged with Mr. Charles Basker, Westgate, Grantham, on the 1st June, 186C ; and one for a Dress, pledged with William Shuw, Cockpit- hill, Derby, for 2s., on the 9th June, 1866. They are remanded till the 19tli instant. The female prisoner was offering the silver cases of a watch for sale when apprehended.
