IMotloe.— It is requested that all communications for the pur- pose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or tending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to MB. W. IX BURNABY, the Editor, Police Court, Bow- street, London, W. C. *." Whenever it is desired that any person should De appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor must 1 » C prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular A. rtny, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. On the 29th ultimo the dead body of a new- born female Child, without marks of violence, the umbilical cord not attended to, and far advanced in a state of decomposition, was left by the tide on the bank of the River Severn, in the parish of Hempstead, near Gloucester. The body is supposed to have been cariied up and down the Tiver a long distance with the high tides at that period. A verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown' was recorded on the 14th instant. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON Stolen at 6 p. m. on the 18th instant, from the person of a gentleman whilst in the Duke of York public- house in the borough of Grimsby, a silver lever Watch, No. 4162 on the face and inside cat, e also. £ 1 reward will be paid on the con- viction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the watch, on application to Chief Superintendent Campbell, Borough Police, Town Hall, Grimsby, Lincolnshire.— Boio- street, May 21. Stolen about 2 30 p. m. on the 10th instant, from the person of a gentleman, in Manchester, a silver lever Watch, maker W. and M. Dodge, Manchester, No. 43788, engine- turned case, has the initials ' R. L.' with flourishes on outer case. j£ l reward will be paid on the recovery of the watch. Stolen at 8' 30 p. m. on the 10th instant, from the person of a gentleman, at Huddersfield Railway Station, a gold lever Watch, white face, plain figures, minute hand, and of small size, maker Heslop, Hudder.- field, No. 1004 £ 6 reward will be paid on the conviction of the offender or offenders and - 9COvery of the watch, on application to Chief Superintendent Hannan, Borough Police, Huddersfield.— Bow- street, Mav 14. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Pantydefaid Chapel was broken into on the night of the 16th instant or early on the following morning, and a large Welsh Bible ( from the pulpit), twenty- one Testaments, some Wine, and two quart bottles were stolen therefrom. Supposed by tramps. Soma Welsh ballads were found in the graveyard, prinetd by Adam Evans, Post Office, Machynlleth. Information to be given to superintendent Hall, or to Police Constable Pierce, Llandyssil, Cardiganshire— Bow- st., Mav 21. During the night of the 16th or early on the morning of the 17th instant, a warehouse in the borough of Sheffield was entered, and the following articles stolen therefrom : about 160 dozen of Pen and Pocket Knives, having 1, 2, 3, and 4 blades, with pearl, ivory, shell, stag horn, and bone scales, all marked * Larom and Company,' and chiefly intended for the American market. Information to be given to Chief Con- stable Jackson, Town Hall, Sheffield.— Bow- street, May 21. During the night, of the 16th instant the office belonging to Messrs. Percival & Co., in the Votty and Bowydd Slate Quarries, Blaehau Festiniog, was forcibly entered, and a valuable Russian leather Pocket- book, containing Letters and Receipts was stolen therefrom, the property of Owen G. Williams. Information to . he given to Sergeant J. Lewis, Maentwrog, Merionethshire.— Bow- street, Mai/ 21. During the night of the 16th instant the office at the Tanygrisian Slate Wharf was forcibly entered, and a spirit Level, 1 foot long, inch wide, made of boxwood, ends capped with brat- s, stolen therefrom. Information to be given to Sergeant J. Lewis, Maentwrog, Merionethshire.— Boie- slieel, May 21. Between the hours of 10 p. m. on the 16th, and 5 a. m. on 17th instant, the grocer's shop and post office at Holborn Hill, Millom was broken into and the sum of i.' 08 Is. 4d. stolen therefrom, the money consisted of one five pound note of the Bank of Kendal No. 2866, and £ 62 in Gold, sovereigns and half- sovereigns, and £ 1 Is. in Silver and 4d. inCoppeis. The entrance had been effeeted by taking a square of glass out of the window in the back part of the office. During the night of the 7th instant, a dwelling- house at Salford was broken into, and the following property stolen : two ladies Canadian minx fur Tippets, with long lappets in front; a minx Muff ; an old Scotch Blanket; an old printed patchwork Bed Cover ; two ladies blue rep Jackets, trimmed with gimp ; a ladies rough grey and blank curled wool cloth Jacket, faced with blue silk, lined with brown alpaca, stitched in squares, black silk velvet collar, two pocketB in front and one on each side, and diamond shaped jet buttons; two ladies cure coloured striped silk Bodices, trimmed with black lace and lined with white linen ; a ladies blue striped silk Bodice, trimmed with black velvet and brass buttons, lined with white linen, had attached a silver and moss- agate Buckle ; two pairs of common grey Stays, which fasten with clasps; a pair of new black velvet Boots, with small toe- caps ; an old grey waterpro > f Cloak ; a pair of black cloth summer Boots, nearly new; a pair of black cloth Boots, golo9lied in front, strong soles ; a pair of ladies white cotton Drawers, needlework at the bottom, marked ' Jane G. Miller '; a ladies black cloth Jacket, trimmed with black silk braid, fastens up the front with four! black cloth covered buttons, one row of braid round the cuff of each sleeve, two pockets in front and one on each side ; two black and white striped cotton Dresses, large pattein, cut nut round the bottom and bound with black braid ; an old victoria tartan Dress, trimmed with black velvet. Information to he i given to Head Constable James Taylor, Town Hall, Salford.— Bow street, May 18. During the night of the 14th instant a dwelling- house at Salford was broken into, and the following property stolen therefrom : two new electro silver Forks, queen's pattern ; a ditto Pickle Fork ; 6 ditto Tea Spoons ; 4 ditto Table Spoons, plain pattern ; six ditto Forks, five small and one large; two old ivory- handled Table Knives; a new Cheese Knife ; a new ivory- handled round Steel ; a small French Timepiece, white enamelled face and gilt figures, face chipped at the bottom, inclosed in a datk square wood case, inlaid with yellow wood, has a brass handle at the top with key attached ; tour pairs of men's elastic- side Boots, nearly new, three pairs are toe- capped and one pair plain ; a dark tweed waterproof Overcoat, two pockets inside skirt, in one of which there was a pair of hlack kid Gloves and a white Handkerchief; an old macintosh Overcoat ; a boy's old drab Overcoat, with velvet collar, and lined with drab coburg, two pockets in front and one in left breast: a boy's urah Inverness Cape ; a new green and black flowered woollen Tabh cloth ; an old damask red and giraffe Tablecloth ; an old green Paisley Shawl ; two boys' Scotch Caps, one black velvet and the other blue cloth ; a man's black and grey Plaid ; an old hlack sealskin Jacket; and a number of linen diaper Towels and Napkins, some maiked ' Thomas.' £ 6 rewaid will be paid on the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property, or in proportion to the amount recovered, on appli- cation to Head Constable Taylor, Town Hall, Salford.— bow- street, May 18. Stolen from a dwelling- house on the 1st instant, between the hours of 10 a m. and 8 p. m. by picking the lock of a d. or, one pair of dark corded cloth Trousers, the property of Mrs. Lloyd of Clee Hill, Bittery, Salop. Information to be given to Superintendent Mc Williams, County Constabulary Bridgnorth, or to Police Constable( 82) Jones, Clee Hill, near Ludlow, Salop. — Bow- strut, May 18. Between 2 and 6 a. m. on the 12th instant, the ' White Swan' public house. Castle- street, Cambridge, was entered by a back window, and £ 15 10s. in Gold, £ 3 10s. in Silver, a blue pilot Jacket, a cashmere Scarf, white ground with blue spots, a female's biowu cloth Jacket, and about 8 lbs. or 9 lbs. of Bacon, stolen therefrom. Supposed by a man from 26 to 30 years of age, about 6 feet 0 inches high, dark complexion and hair, and small dark whiskers. Information to be given to Head Constable Turrall, Police Office, Cambridge.— Bow- street, May 14. Between 11 p. m. the 11th, and 6 a. m. the 12th instant, the dwelling house of a gentleman in Alhert- terrace, Withing- ton- road, Moss Side, was entered, and the following property stolen therefrom : a silver Pint Cup, figure of a racehorse and jockey on one side, and marked ' R. H.' on the other ; 12 small silver Forks ; 7 small silver Knives ; 1 silver Spirit Stand, to hold three bottles ; 22 electro- plated Spoons, two Sauce, three Table, one Gravy, six Egg, four Tea, all marked ' H.'; a set of electro- plated Castors, marked ' 1* 1.'; 2 electro plated Sugar Basins, one flowered and marked ' H.'; 14 Table Forks, ten large, foui small, marked ' H.' ; an electro- plated Pint Cup, marked ' T. H.'; an electro- plated Mustard Spoon, marked ' H.'; a pair of electro- plated Sugar Tongs, marked ' H.'; an electro- plated Knife, Fork, and Spoon, small size ; an electro- plated Plate, small size ; an electro- plated Marmalade Stand ; 2 large Woollen Antimacassars, green, white, amber, and crimson ; and a crimson Table Cover. Any person giving suoh information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of » the offender or offenders and recovery, shall receive £ 5 reward, ou application to the Superintendent of the County Police, Old Trafford, or any other Police Station.— Bow- st., May 14. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Supposed to have been stolen on the 13th instant, from Tolleshunt Knights, the property of Hezekiah Drain, a small gelding bay Pony, aged, 11 or 12 hands high, full eyes, switch tail, thick mane, broken winded, branded with the letter'R' on the near side. Information to be given to Superintendent May, Police Station, Witham, Essex.— Bow- street, May 21. Supposed to have been stolen from Penn Common, Staf- fordshire, on the 8th instant, the property of Mr. Henry Evans, Penn, a grizzle brown inare Pony, 6 years old, 13 hands high, the letters ' J. C.' on the near hip, and a small lump on the back. Information to be given to Sergeant J. Tomlinson, Sedgley, or to Police Constable James Bullock, Police Station, Upper Penn, Staffordshire.— Bow- itreet, May 21. Stolen during the night of the 17th instant, from a field at Frolesworth, the property of Mr. Stannage: a dark brown cob Mare, 8 years old, 13^ hands high, small head, white star on forehead, black mane and tail, three black legs, one bind foot white up to the fetlock, saddle marked on one side, and chafed with the bellyband on both Bides. Information to be given to Superintendent Deakins, Lutterworth, Leicestershire.— hovh street, May 21. Supposed to have been stolen from Llandysilio, on the 13th instant, two beat Donkeys, one light colour, hair rubbed off down back, and tail cut square; the other, a dark geldiog, small lump ou crupper. Two gipsies are suspected : one about 17 years uf age, the other about 20. Information to bo given to Poii,•(•' Constable A. Stolen from Court Farm, in the parish of Trotteracliffe, Kent, on the night of the 18th instant, a dark chesnut Mare, 6 years old, 16 hands high, one hind and one forefoot ( crossed) white, branded ' W.,' supposed on near thigh, white on nose, star on forehead, and rather long ears. Information to be given to Superintendent Hulse, Kent Constabulary, East Mailing, Kent.— Bow- street, May 21. Absconded from Bridgwater, Somerset, on the 27th March last, charged with falsely obtaining a Horse, Harness, and Phaeton, JOHN CROCOMBE GREEN, a nutiveof Bridg- water, 24 years of age, about 6 feet 8 inches high, light build, thin features, peculiar eyes, red hair, large led whiskers and moustache, stooping gait, and shabbily dressed, Lately seen at No. 1, Uniou- court, Biunswick- row, Old Rochester- row, West- minster, where his uncle is living ; last seen in Falcon- street, Falcon- square, London; he applied a short time since for a situation at the Sceptre Life Insurance, 13, Finsbury- place, London, having travelled as such before. It was a chesnut maie, about 14 hands 2 inches high, 7 years old, star on fore- head, coarse about legs, fore fetlocks puffed, plated harness half worn ; a single body phaeton, door behind, imitation cane sides with wings, painted black, striped green, fine line white, lined with black leather, ' Edwards, Bridgwater,' supposed on caps of four wheels £ 2 will be paid on recovery of the horse and phaeton, and £ 1 on the apprehension of the said John Crocouibe Green. Information to be given to Superintendent Lear, Bridgwater, who holds the warant for his apprehension. — Bow- street, May 21. Supposed stolen on the 16th instant, from a field in the Spring Vale Colliery, two black Horses : one nearly 17 hands high, with three white feet, and a white forehead; the other about 13 hands high, with rather large knees. Whoever will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, if stolen, to Thomas Lowe, Butty Collier, Spring Vale Colliery, near Bilston, will be handsomely rewaided. Information to be given to Super- intendent McCrea, Bilston, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, May 18. Supposed to have been stolen from a field at Hemming- field, Wath, on the night of the 12th instant, a dark iron grey Pony, 4 years old, about 13J hands high, silver coloured tail, and trace marks on both sides. Information to be given to Superintendent Gillett, Court House, Rotherham, Yorkshire. ' — Bow- street, May 18. Stolen on the 11th instant, from the Cab Rank at the South Eastern Railway, London Bridge, a chestnut Horee, 14 hands high, nose and hind fetlocks white, a set of brass- mounted Harness, a four- wheel Cab, No. 1169, brown colour, picked out with red and black, — Metropolitan Police, M Division, May 18. Supposed to have been stolen from a field near Christ- church, Hants, on or about the 10th instant, the property of Mr. Joseph Walden, a black Mare, 3 years old, about I3J hands high, tail cut » quare above the hocks, and marked ' W.' on the near side under the saddle. Information to be given to Superintendent Stephenson, Hants Constabulary, Ringwood, or to Sergeant White, Police Station, Christchurch.— Bow- street, May 16. SuppnS'd to have been stolen a bright chesnut mare Colt, 1 year old, white face, white hind legs, silver mane and tail. Whoever has lost the same can have it, by applying to Super inteadent Deane, Borough Police, Newbury, Berks.— Bow- street, May 16. Supposed to have been stolen from Dorstone, Hereford, on or about the 25th ultimo, the property of William Powell, a black mare Pony, about 10 or 11 hands high, white star on forehead, iu low condition, cut mane and tail; she was bought at Talgarth some time ago, and it is possible she may he gone back into that country again. Description of GEORGE BARNES, ali » s GEORGE ROBINSON, alias EDWARD ROYLANDS, a boatman, who absconded from Barmou on the 9th ineiant, charged with stealing a Horse and Gear, since recovered, the property of bib employer: about 26 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, light hair and complexion, whiskers shaved off; dressed in new white moleskin trousers, drab moleskin swinger jacket, black felt hat with narrow brim, and new boatman's boots with t « vo hearts- aud a diamond punched ou the end of each tongue ; is a native of Tewksbury, Gloucestershire, and is well known among boatmen ; was last I e* rd of enquiring his way from Northwich to Birmingham and Tewksbury, ou the 9tli instant. July next. Found at East Ilsley, Berks, on the 2nd instant, and sup- posed to have been stolen, a ewe teg Sheep. Supposed to have been stolen from Aymestrey, on the 6th instant, the property of John Pheasant, a mare Pony, aged, chesnut colour, siai on forehead, about 12 hands h. igh, flaxen mane and tail. Boundon, or to Superintendent Dykes, Leominater, Uerelord- shire.— Bow- streft, Hay 14. has a shrill voice, and has lost a thumb, two first fingers,, and part of a third from, left hand ; is supposed to be , iu London. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Wihsty, about .6 am. on the 17th instant, a pair of nearly new men's cotton cord Trousers with a pair ot common Braces attached, and a black and magenta woollen neck Scarf. By a young man, who had been lodging in the house a few nights, and who left suddenly at the time stated, 18 years of age, .6 feet 6 or 0 inches high, dark complexion, very dark hair ; dressed in old black cloth coat and vest, old woollen cord troupers which are very inuoh too large for him, old velveteen cap, and do**. He is, supposed to have recently. left Wakefield Pnisun; has been in the Lincoln Militia, and has been employed at Warehouse- hill, Leeds. Information to be given to Inspector G. Description Of a man who absconded, charged with stealing a Cart at Liveraedge on the 11th instant{ sinee recovered): about 22 years of, age, 5 feet 8 inuhes high, sallow complexion, grey eyes, brown hair, slenderly built ; dressed in a black cloth coat and vest, cotton cord trousers, . woullen cap and shirt, aud light coloured neckerchief with brown spots ; is a pork butcher, but looks like, a low jobber, and is supposed to be a native of Leeds. Information to be given to the County Polioe, Dewsbury, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, May 18.
