ALFRED NEWTON, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 1st January last as having escaped from Montgomery Gaol, where he was awaiting biB trial for burglary, is still at large. There is no doubt but that he is the same man who has been lately adveriised in the Police Gazettes as having committed burglaries in the countieB of Northumberland, Edinburgh, Lancaster, fee. As previously stated, he has lost the end of the first finger of his left hand, and has the appear- ance of a sailor. Information to be given to J. Hodgson, Esq,, Chief Constable of Montgomeryshire, or to the Governor of the Gaol, either of whom will pay a reward of £ 6 on his appre- hension.— Bow- street, April 30. Between 11 p. m. on the 25th and 4 a. m. on the 26th instant the dwelling- house of Mr. S. Bebbington, farmer, of Edleston, Cheshire, was burglariously entered by the pantry window, and the following property stolen: 2 grey calico Shirts, boy's size, one mended on shoulder, and one sleeve half pieced, the other has new wrist- bands, both plain fronts. 2 white calico Shirts, men's size, plaited fronts, one has a turn- down collar, the other standing collar, the latter has sleeves half- pieced, new wristbands, and small patch on shoulder. 1 man's loose Collar, ribbed, with coloured edge, 1 grey calico Chemise, nearly new. 1 unbleached linen Jacket. 3 pairs of grey Stockings, one pair niea's size, the others boys' size, one pair of the boys were dark grey and home knitted. 1 small Towel. 1 pair of white cotton Stockings, woman's size. 1 woollen check Neck- scarf, drab ground and black check. 1 woollen black and while plaid Shawl. 1 black cloth Coat, man's size, breast pocket and two pocketB outside, small moth hole on left arm. 1 old long drab slop Frock, open at the front, pockets outside, dark velvet collar, sleeves much worn. 1 old double- breasted black velvet Vest. 2 old drab monkey Jackets. 1 pair of strong la' e up Boots, double soled, much worn at toes, nailed with sparables. ^ lb. of brown Soap. Description of two men suspected : one, about 30 years of age, 6 feet 7 or 8 inches high, stiff built, round face, good looking; dressed in brown and dark cloih cap : the other, about 21 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches hinh, rather thin, round features; dressed in ft short dirty white slop and billycock hat. ROBBERY AN © LARCENY FROM THE PERSON- Stolen about noon on the 3rd instant, from the person of a gentleman, at the Cathedral Gates, Manchester, a silver lever Watch, silver dial, gold hands, No. 9903. Any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the watch, shall two pockets outside and one in left breast outside ; an electro- plated Salt Spoon ; and a small chimney Ornament, like a drinking cup. Information to be given to Superintendent Williamson, Macclesfield, or to Sergeant Garner, Police Station, Wilmslow, Cheshire.— Bow- street, May 7. The dwelling house of Mr. R. Evans, near the Tredegar- ville Chapel at Cardiff, was broken and entered during the night of the 1st instant, and ten or eleven electro- plated Tea Spoons, an electro- plated Dessert Spoon, an electro- plated Fork, and three electro- plated Salt Spoons, all engraved ' R. E.', and a silver Tea Spoou were stolen therefrom. Information to be given to Superintendent J. Box stockdale, Cardiff.— Bow- strcet, May 4. Stolen from a dwelling- house in Clayton- street, Blackburn, by means of housebreaking, on the 8th ultimo : a loose brown coloured ribbed Coat, black velvet collar, two outside pockets and one inside left breast, black covered buttons, and lined with red flannel and black facings; a dark blue tight fitting Over- coat, black velvet collar, two outside pockets in skirts and one outside left breast, dark covered buttons, and dark lining. Information to be given to Chief Constable Potts, Town Hall, Blackburn, Lancashire.— Bow- street, May 4. About noon on the 30th ultimo, the cottage of Moses Rawlingson in Waterbeach Fen, was broken into and the following property stolen ; a pair of grey Trousers, a Vest, an HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Found, supposed f olen, in the township of Chidlow, about the middle of February last, a brown mare Pony, about 11$ hands high, aged. Information to be given to Sergeant Foster, County Constabulary, Malpas, Cheshire.— Bow- Street, May 7. Further particulars respecting the horse and cart stolen from Addlestone, Chertsey, on the 16th ultimo, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 20th : SAMUEL SKEUSE is sup- posed to be trading as a greengrocer in London. A reward of £ 2 will be paid for such information as shall lead to the con- viction of the offender and recovery of tbe property. Supposed to have been stolen from a field at Ilkley, on the 20th ultimo, a male Donkey, aged, dark brown hair rubbed off in several places, no teeth in upper jaw, and lifts its hind legs very high when walking. Stolen from the parish of Llanbister, in the comity of Radnor, on the night of the 1st inBtant, two mare Ponies: one about 13 hands high, aged, black with bald face, silver eye near side, hind feet white, and heavy in foal; the other a dark bay, aged, about 12 hands high, mane turns to the near side. They were seen going through Brampton Bryan gate on the 2nd instant, and have been traced in the direction of Mont- gomery, in the possession of two men having the appearance of gipnies, one about 5 feet !) inches high, the other about 5 feet 7 inches high. £ 0 reward will be given to any person giving such information that will lead to their apprehension and recovery of the ponies. Found at Romsey, on the 22nd ultimo, supposed stolen, a bay mare Pony, in good condition, 3 years old, 11 hands high, and without shoes. Supposed stolen from a field near Wellington on the night of the 29th ultimo, a light bay mare, 3 years old, small white star on forehead, one white hind fetlock lias not been shod, has been at pasture and riot well groomed. Information to b( given to Deputy Chief Constable Richardson, or to Sergeant Christie, Wellington, Salop — flow street. May 4. Supposed stolen from an inn door at Bridgnorth, between 8 and 9 p. m. on the 1st instant, a chesnut Mare with Bridle and Saddle. The mare is 4 years old, about 14 hands high, small white streak down fate, hair rubbed off left hip, and is a | good hack ; old saddle with nearly new crupper, brown girth Which has been broken and mended ; single reined bridle with 1 snaffle bit and new throat band. Supposed to have been stolen, on the 30th ult., from Great Cornard, the property of Mr. Samuel Collis, Sudbury, butcher, a dark bay Mare, G years old, about 15 hands high, square cut tail, brush behind, and sprained tore legs. Information to be given to Superintendent Charles Schofiefd, Boxford, Suffolk.— - Bom- street, May 2. Supposed to have been stolen from East Lydeard Farm, Bishops Lydeard, Somerset, on or about the loth ultimo, 3 Lambs, marked on the side with the letter 1M.' with pitch, and punched marked through the right ear, the property ot Mr. Morrish, East Lydeard Farm, Bishops Lydeard. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Mtar, Williton, or to Acting Sergeant Eveleigh, Bishop's Lydeard, Somerset.— Bom- street, May 2. Found at Hatch Beauchamp on the 24th instant, supposed to have been stolen, a dark brown mare Colt, 3 years old, 14J hands high, square tail, no shoes, and in ve< y low condition; also a bay mare Colt, 1 year old, about 13 hands high, long tail, and in very low condition. Information to be given to Superintendent R. Everitt, Somerset Constabulary, Ilminster. — Bom- street, April 30. Supposed to have been stolen from a field in Guildford on the 17th instant, a small black mare Pony, supposed to be in foal. Information to be given to Superintendent John Henry Law, Borough Police Station, Guildford, Surrey.— Boio- street, April 30. Supposed to have been stolen during the night of the 27th instant, troin Mortimer Fair, the property of Mr. R. Blundon, a rough white Welsh bred mare Pony,- aged, about 12 hands high, low back, short switch tail, without shoes, and in poor condition. Information to be given to Superintendent Crook, Bucks Constabulary Station, Heading.— Uowstreet, April 30. Stolen on the night of the 27th in6tant, a dark brown horse Pony, between 11 and 12 hands high, brand on off hip, from the field of Mr. Samuel Hassall, at Edgware. Whoever will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, shall receive £ 10 10s. reward, on application to W. S. Tootell, Secretary to the North West Middlesex Association for the prevention of robbery. — Bow- street, April 30. Supposed stolen on the night of the 25th, or early on the morning of the 26th instant, from a field in Hawkchurch, the property of Samuel Domett, Esq., a black nag Horse, 5 yea is old, about 14 hands 1 inch high, star on forehead, long tail, hind feet white. Supposed to have been stolen since the 20th instant, from the Rectory at Coulsdon, near Croydon, a white Pony, aged, 12 hands high, long tail, one hind shoe oS— Metropolitan Police, W Division, April 27. LAKCENYAND EMBEZZLEMENT Absconded from Newport Pagnell, on the 1st instant, steal- ing a pair of Wellington Boots, red tops, and a little worn : a man about 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark hair and whiskers; dressed in a dark cloth ribbed suit, black velvet cap, and the stolen boots; states that he has served in the 3rd Dragoons, and was discharged at Maidstone ; he frequents public houses, professes to cure corns, and is addicted to drink- ing. Information to be given to Inspector Hedley, Newport Pagnell, Bucks.— Bou>- street, May 4. Stolen from the ' Royal Oak' inn, at Tingewick, on the lst instant, the property of Thomas Sears, a double- breasted black cloth Coat, pockets behind, and left breast pocket inside : by a man of the following description, who gave the name of FORD ( supposed to be fictitious), aud said he was a tailor, about 22 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, pale complexion, dark curly hair, aud slight build; dressed in a dark brown cloth cap, slate- coloured top coat, black doth dress coat under, and black cloth troupers; he is lame, left leg being very much crooked, and stiff in the knee, he was traced to Banbury, and is supposed to have gone to Leamington. Stoien on the lst instant, from No. 19, Southampton- street, Pentonville : a green carpet Bag ; two Chemises ; two pairs of Drawers; ablaul: stuff Shawl; a black velvet Bonnet; four Petticoats- three white, one black; three Dresses— one black silk, one light plaid, one Irish poplin; three gold Rings — one green stone, one five stones Magenta, one mourning, engraved ' John Flaxley, oh. May 3rd, 1762 ; two Brooches— one Bilver, arrow shape, one gold containing hair. By a youth, 17 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion, brown hair, speaks with a north country accent; supposed dressed in the stolen clothes.— Metropolitan Police, Y Division, May 4. On the 5th instant, a porter of the Blackburn Infirmary absconded, stealing and taking with him: a brown mixture cloth Coat, trimmed with narrow red cord round the collar ; a Vest of the same material, with calico Bleeves ; a pair of cord Trous? rs; a pair of men's elastic- side Boots, newly soled ; and £ 2 in Gold, the pioperty of the Governors of the Infirmary. He is 20 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, pale thin face, dark hair, no whiskers, dark eyes, sullen appearance, and dressed in a brown cloth coat, cord trousers, and low felt hat. A warrant has been issued for his apprehension. Information to be given to Chief Constable Potts, Town Hall, Blackburn, Lancashire.— Bow- street, May 4. Absconded from Finningham, on the 21st ultimo, charged with embezzlement, JOHN LAMBERT, labourer, about 29 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, good looking, fresh complexion, dark brown hair and whiskers; dressed in a black cloth frock coat, light cloth trousers, light vest, and low- crowned hat: he belongs to the West Suffolk Militia. Infor- mation to be given to the Police at Fianingham, near Stow- market, Suffolk, who hold a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, May 4. Absconded from Chatham, charged on a warrant with larceny, WILLIAM BOWLING, 22 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, brown hair, fair complexion, has been employed as a fly driver at Chatham : is a native of Cranbrook, and is likely to be found in Tunbridge or Tunbridge Wells, Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Everist, Chatham,— Bmo- tlrett, May 2. Stolen from a carpenter's shop, in the borough of Basing- stoke, on the evening of the 21st ultimo, the following Tools : a Stock and Bits, a Trying Plane, a Jack Plane, a Smoothing Plane, four or five Chisels, a Rule and Pencil, two Hammers, a Screwdriver, a Panel Saw, several Gimlets and Bradawls, Gouges and Gauges, an Oil Stone, and a Mallet, all stamped in several places on the wood ' J. May.' By a tramping car- penter, who worked six days at the shop, who will probably assume the name of May when calling for work : he is 23 years of age, 5 feet G inches high, rather square built, small whiskers, dark hair, shrill voice, and stiff fingers from rheuma- tism ; dressed in old shabby dark frock coat, dark trousers, and low felt hat; has the appearance of a countryman, and stated that he came from Yeovil. Smith, Beck, and Beck, opticians, No. 31, Cornhill, ARTHUR STOTHARD. late of No. 4, I Durham- cottages, Durham- road, Seven Sisters- road, Holloway : 32 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, slender build, very dark complexion, black hair, whiskers, and moustache, beard about 6 inches long, large dark eyebrows nearly meeting, and small tear on eyelid ; dressed when he left in working clothes, and Scotch cap with wide top, has a piece about 6 inches wide let into the back of his waistcoat, wears a scarf pin with blue stone 1 set in German silver, carries an old- fashioned silver watch with steel chain and three silver coins ( one Turkish, another Indian) attached. Description of THOMAS LLOYD, who has absconded, and against whom a warrant has been issued for embezzling several sums of money belonging to his master, Mr- W.
