Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the pur- pose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to MB. Whenever it is desired that any person should toe appre hendSfi^ and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence oharged, and an attested copy thereof, together with tfie Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all betters addressed to the Editor must t> e prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. On the 30th ultimo the body of a female Child, from 3 to 4 inont, s old, » as found in Tennant's Canal, Cadoxton, near Neath. An inquest was helJ, and a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown* was • returned. The child was dressed 111 a calico nightgown ; - white flinnel petticoat; two wrappers, one a stripe flannel mended with a piece of an old stuif cravat, the other a grey kersey wove flannel, ragged, both with white calico bands ; a long calico binder ; a calico shirt ; a napkin of a three- cornered piece of cotton, as if been used for a man's neckerchief; A cotton lilac hood ; and a musl. n cap. The child is supposed - to belong to tome tramp. Information to be given to Super- intendent Thomas, Constabulary Office, Neath, Glamorgan- shire.— Bow- street, April 6. Between the hours of 10 o'clock in the forenoon and 7 o'clock in the evening of the 30ih U: timo, Janet Henderson or . Rodger, residing at Mount Stewart Farm, in the parish of Forgandenny, and coumy of Perth, was murdered in her brother's house there, by some person or persons unknown : from the appearance of the body and the furniture in the house there is evei- y reason to believe that the party or parties who committed the crime are Cont- idei ably covered with blood. About 12 o'clock at noon on the said day a man of the follow- ing description « as seen at the said farmhouse : between 40 and 50 years of age, about 6 teet 9 inches high, slender make, thin figure, long face, blown hair, and small dark whiskers; dressed in a diny < tarkit. li cap, rather long dark frock coat, greyi.- h colouied trousers, seedy appearance, did not look like a working inan, and is - uj postd to be accompanied by a small dog, ot a black or greyish colour. H. Gowland, High- street, Sunderland, No. supposed to be 24502, a gold albert Chain, with a Locket the shape of a book, a miniature Pen- knife with three blades, a Corkscrew, and a Toothpick attached. Stolen about 10 p. m. on the 4th instant, from the person of a gentleman, in the neighbourhood of Strangeways, a single stone diamond scarf Pin, set with claws, has been made from a shirt stud. Any person giving such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the pin, will receive £ 2 reward on application to Captain Palin, Chief Constable, Town Hall, King Street, Manchester.— Bouo- street, April C. Stolen from various persons at the Volunteer Review, on the 2nd instant: 1 gold hunting Watch, maker Moelder, Liege, Belgium, the Cathedral of Notre Dame, Paris, engraved on one side, a hunting scene on the other. 1 gold lever Watch, gold face, ' George Rodgers, coach builder, London,' engraved inside the case. 1 gold Watch, white enamelled dial, blue figures, an inner circle containing Nos. 1 to 31, indicating the days of the month, engine- turned case with coat- of- arins surmounted by a crest. 1 gold Watch, white dial, seconds hand, maker Schmit- nngel, Brighton. 1 silver lever Watch, open face, seconds hand, engine- turned, maker Tanner, Lewes. 1 silver lever hunting Watch, maker Golding, Hastings, No. 61700, with a gold Albert Chain and a blue enamelled gold Locket attached. 1 silver gilt Geneva Watch, with gold curb Chain and a Five- franc attached. 1 silver lever Watch, sunk seconds, No. supposed to be 6036. Absconded from her bail on the 27th ultimo, charged on a warrant with stealing £ 41 10K. from the person of a farmer, who was drunk in her house (£ 33 of wh> ch has been recovered), NAOMI BOLAS, wife of William Bolas, of the ' Railway Tavern,' Welshpool, Montgomeryshire: she is 43 years of age, short and fat, dark hair and eyes, full round face, double chin, pleasant countenance, speuKs with a lisp, and when last seen wore a green dress ; she is a native of Chirk. Informa- tion to be given to Sergeant Strefford, Police Station, Welsh- pool, who holds the warrant for her apprehension. £ 1 reward. — Bow street, April 2. Stolen from the person of a gentleman on the night of the 29th ultimo, between the Wicker and Tom Cross- lane, a gold hunting Watch, white dial, No. 9815 on movement, 41530 ^ on case, repeating seconds, three quarter plate, duplex escape- ment, 8 holes jewelled, maker H. Perregaux, Locle, to which was also attached a gold Albert Chain, snake pattern, with Coin and Ring Appendages. Information to be given to Chief Constable Jackson, Town Hall, Sheffield. A reward of £ 5 will be paid on the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the watch.— Bow- street, April 2. checked pattern. Information to be given to Superintendent Jobson, Houghton- le- Spring, or to Sergeant Morrison, Ryhop Colliery, near Sunderlaud, Durham.— Bow- street, April 9. Between 9 a. m. on the 4th and 5 p. m. on the 5th instant the parsonage of Coddington, Notts was burglariously entered, and the following property of the Rev. J, M. Dolphin, stolen therefrom : two plated pint Cups, prizes, one handle each, gilt inside, embossed, one bearing the arms of Oxford University, the other of Marlborough College, both bear the name of ' J. M. Dolphin •; an old fashioned gold Seal with white stone, impression ' W. D.'; an old grey tweed Inverness Cape, very long; & single breasted grey tweed Over- coat, very old, light material, made by Nicolls, London; and a brown silk Umbrella with hook handle. Information to be given to Superintendent J. Bexon, Newark- upon- Trent, Notts.— Bow- street, April 9. Between 1 a. m. on the 1st and C a. m. on the 2nd instant, the grocer's shop belonging to William Jones, of St. Martin's Moors, in the county of Salop, was broken into, and about 10s. in Copper, and eight bundles of Silk Ends for whip lashes, of different colours, stolen therefrom. Supposed by boatmen on the canal. AUo stolen from a garden hedge in the parish of Ellesmere, on the night of the 31st ultimo, a moleskin Jacket, nearly new, but has been mended on the left shoulder. Information to be given to Superintendent Gough, Oswestry, Salop,— How- street, April 6. On the afternoon of the 2nd instant the dwelling- house of Misses Clarke, Gungate- street, Tamworth, Warwickshire, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen there- from : a gold Ring, set with pearls aud blue stones, red centre; a gold fancy Chain, round link pattern ; a mourning Brooch, set with light grey, black, and brown hair, to form Prince of Wales feather, one ditto with light grey and black | hair, eaoh of them mounted In gold, one reversible; two gold Rings, set with hail, q e marked ' E. C.'; a small gold fancy Brooch, set with liair under the glass; four silver Table Spoon:, plate marked ; nine or ten Tea Spoons, marked ' L.'; a pair of silver Sugar BOWB ; a green leather Purse, with about £ 5 in. Gold, and a few Shillings; a plated Knife lat; a plated Butter Knife, blade chased, ivory handle; a pair f plated Alt Spoons; an old silver Watch Case, and an old Five- sbimng Pifce. Two men of the following description are suspected of cota- mitting the robbery: one about 46 years of age 5 feet 7 inches high ; dressed in dark clothes and silk hat. The other 24 or 25 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, fresh complexion, dressed in a light overcoat ( velvet collar, buttoned close up to the chin), and a white desrBtalker hat. £ 5 reward will be paid on the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, by the said Misses Clarke. Information to be given to Inspector Hursher, Atherstone.— Bow- street, Aprils. Stolen, by breaking into the store- room of Spilsby Union Workhouse on the night of the 28th ultimo, a pair of cotton cord Trousers, youth's size, marked on the inside of the waist- band ' Spilsby Union.' Information to be given to Superin- tendent Wright, Police Station, Spilsby.— Bow- street, April 2, BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Between the 18th and 31st ultimo the dwelling- house cf Mrs. Langstaff, of No. 2, Sussex place, Winchester, was broken and entered, aud the following property stolen therefrom : one gold Brooch, with hair in devices; one ditto, with hair plaited, • W. S.;' one ditto, with ruby stones ; one ditto, with green stone ; one ditto, with pearls; one Rine, with pearls; one ditto, with cornelian stone ; one silver Table Spoon, marked ' E. R.;' one Watch Seal, marked ' G. L.;' one cornelian Ear- dro'p ; some new Half crown pieces, a Dollar, aod SDme old silver Coins. Information to be given to Head Constable Hubbersty, Winchester.— Bow- street, April 9. Early in the morning of the 7th instant, the shop of the Co- operative Stores, at Ryhop Colliery, was broken and entered and the following articles stolen therefrom : 10s in Copper, 20 lbs. of red Cheshire Chee- e, 12ibs. of Tobacco done up in Jib. and 2 oz. packets; 10 pairs of new Boots, two pairs balmoral, four men's elastic- side, one much larger than the others, four pairs strong made laced, small size; a dozen chenille Ilair Nets, five cotton ditto; seven woollen Shirts, red HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Supposed to have been stolen on the morning of the 1st instant, from Earl Stonham, the property of Mr. Nunn, a small bay mare Pony, about 5 years old, tail cut broom fashion, hair rubbed off round the neck where the collar goes, is well shod, and very wild. Information to be given to Sergeant Foster, Police Station, Stonham, East Suffolk.— Bow- street, April 9. Found, supposed to have been stolen, in the borough of Derby, on the 24th February, a dark brown Mare, black legs, the iiear fore knee much cut, 14 hands high, aged, and in low condition. Information to be given to Chief Constable Hilton, Town Hall, Derby.—- Bow- street, April 9. Supposed to have been stolen from a field at Ugborough, Devon, since the 29th ultimo, the property of Mr. Arthur White : a bay filly Colt, nearly thoroughbred, rising 4 yers old, 14 to 15 hands high, Mick legs, shoe on near hind toots long tail, in good condition. If strayed all reasonable expense, will be paid by Mr. White on recovery of the colt. Informa- tion to be given to the Chief Constable's Office, Paris- street, Exeter,— Buw street, April 9. Stolen from a field in the parish of Brownsover, on the night of the 5th instant, the property of A. B. Leigh, Esq, a bright chesnut Horse, aged, 10 hands high, both knees broken, saddle marked, a splint forming on the off fore leg, well bred, has been hunted during the season, when his fore legs are touched he will stretch out his legs to let any one get on his back. Information to be given to Superintendent Wild, Rugby.— Bow- street April 9. Supposed to have been stolen from a field at Birchfield, Stafford, on the night of the 28th ultimo, two dark brown mare Ponies, one 2 years old, and the other 6 years old, about 12^ hands' high, one has a star oh the forehead, the other has hair rubbed off the neck, and rnane turns on the wrong side ; the property of Mr. Hughes, Great Russell street, Birmingham, by whom 10s. reward and expenesB will be paid, on recovery of the ponies. Information to be given at the Police Stations, Birmingham, Aston, or Handworth.— Bow- street, April 9. Description of HENRY HICK, fellmonger, of Methley, who absconded on the 27th ultimo, taking with him a spring Cart, with the name ' William Watmough, Honley,' behind ; a black Horse, 15 hands hi^ h, 7 or 8 years old, fired inside both j hocks, two or three white mwkson back, cut marks from whip on forearm; common cab Harness, with a brown leather collar ; the property of Mr. William Elliott, farmer, of Welbeck Stanley : 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fresh complexion, hazel eyes, dirk brown curly hair, high cheekbones, thin face, no whi& kers, and is of leserved manners ; was seen on the 27th ultimo, couiiug out of a cook's chop in Leeds ; he has been in America, aud it is suspected that he has sold the horse and cart in Leeds or neighbourhood, and gono back to America. Supposed to have been stolen from a field at Barnhurst Farm, Tettenhall, about the 27ih ultimo, the property of Captain Evans, a Ewe and Lamb, marked ' T. E.' on the near side. Information to be given to Iuspeotor Brailey, Polic Station, Tettenhall, near Wolverhampton.— flow it., Aprils. Description of a man charged with stealing a grey mare Pony ( since recovered), from a field at Smallshaw, in the parish of Ashton- under- Lyne, on the 22nd ultimo: about 33 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, light hair, fair complexion; dressed in black cloth coat ( much worn), billy- cock hat, dark irouser-, and white linen jacket under his coat : has the appearance of a biker. Supposed to have been stolen oil the morning of the 31 » t uliim from the parish of Whitwell, a dark iron grey Filly, 3 years old, about 15 hands high, well bred, loug mane and tail, white spot on right thigh, small blaze on forehead, rough coat, shod on fore feet, partly broken in. If stolen, a reward of £ 5 will be paid upon recovery of the uiare and conviction of the offender or offenders. Stolen during the night of the 29th ultimo, from a field at Stewkley, a dark brown Horse, 6 years old, 16 hands 1 inch high, white star on forehead, and short thick maue and tail. AI » o stolen on the same night, from a cart hovel at Stewkley, a Call Cart, painted brown and picked out with red, has the name ' John Kean, Stewkley,' painted on the off shalt. Also Stolen from a stable at Hollingdon, Soulbury, on the 28th ult., a set of Harness. Two men of gipsy appearance are strongly suspected of having committed the robberies: one named BELDAM, 28 years of age, 6 bet 8 inches high, dark brown hair, and small wlusUra ; dressed in a piusli sleeved vest with slate* ooloured smock over it, ooiduroy trousers fitting tight to the legs, aud lace- up boots : the other 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, and » rnall whiskers; dressed in a brown coat, corduroy trousers, and low crowned hat. Information to be given to superintendent Denson, Aylesbury.— Bow- street, April 2. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Stolen from a blacksmith's shop at the waterworks, in Oswaldtwistle, between the hours ot 5 and 6 p. m on the 2nd instant, the property of thomas Yates, carpenter, of Jackhouse, in ihe same township: by a niau, named JOHN LEACH, who had been working there, aud who has been a soldier, and a native of Bolton, Lancashire. A long trying Plane ; a jack Plane; a smoothing Plane; an iron Brace aud Bits; and 2 long socket chisels. Stolen at the same time, by the same man, a blue pilot Jacket, much worn, the property of another person: Leach is weaiiug the stoleu jacket, and is about 40 years of age, S feet 8 or 9 iuches high, long features, sallow complexion, aud ncuvhiskers; wears a cap with peak, moleskin trousers, and clogA Infoimation to be given to Superinten- dent McNaby, Coujy Constabulary, Blackburn, Lancashire. Description of EDWARD AKUNDALE, a book- keeper or clerk, who is charged with embezzling the moneys of bis employers, aud for whose apprehension a warrant has been granted : he is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, aleuder make, dark complexion, no whiskers, has been severely burued about the lower part of his face, and has two fingers on the right hand drawn inwards by burning ; dressed in a suit of black cloth, aud low- orowned black billycock hat. Infor- mation to be given to Chief Constable Dalgliesh, Town Hall, Ashton- under- Lyne, Lancashire.— Bow street, April 6. Stolen from a dwelling- house, No. 10, Walsh- court, Nova Scotia, Blackburn, between 3 and 4 a. m. ou the 6th ultimo, a brown ami black mixture cloth Coat, in good couditiiu, two pockets on hips outside, pocket outside of left breast, horn buttons; a pair of Trousers and Vest of light mixture cloth ; a pur of liitu's elastic- aide Boots, neatly uew; a brown and black Muffler; and a woollen Shirt, red ground, horseshoe pattern, the property of Robert Grindrod, mechanic : also a pair of men's lace up watertight Boots, capped at the toes ; and a blue pil. t cloth I ap, the property of W. Cox, a lodger. Bv SAMUEL GRiNDROD, brother of complainant, who had been bulging in the bouse, cab driver, about 27 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 i ches high, dark brown hair cut short, sh> irp features, fresh complexion, lost two upper front teeth, runnings on each sido of neck, proportionate make; is a native of Itoclid. de, and has an uncle that keeps the ' Sawyer's Arms' there; frequents laces. Absconded from Wolverhampton, on the 28th ultimo, charged with embezzling a large sum of Money belonging to the Directors of the South Staffordshire Hospital, WILLIAM PURCELL, the secretary, about 30 years of age, 6 feet 11 ioclies high, dark complexion, hair, and eyes, stout built, and gentlemanly appeirance. £ 25 reward will be paid for bis apprehension. Information, to be given to Captain Segrave, Chief Constable, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his arrest.— Bow street, April 6. Description of HENRY GOODWIN, who absconded from Glazedale Iron Works, charged with larceny : 6 feet 11 inclus or G feet high, proporrionately built, dark com- plexion, dark hair, cleaned shaved, sloughing gait, carries his head down, of very little conversation, of drunken habits ; drissed in fustian clothes, and very dirty looking : generally works at sinking or mining. Information to be given to Superintended Clarkson, North Riding Constabulary, Whitby, Yorkshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Ap'ili. Stolen from No. 2, Montpellier Villas, Brighton, on the afternoon of the 2nd instant, durmg the absence of the family, the following property: 1 emerald Ring. 1 bloodstone signet Ring, 2 plain gold Biacelets. 1 gold snake Necklace, with blue enamel and diamonds. 1 ditto, with blue locket. 1 ditto, with carbuncles. 1 Scotch pebble Bracelet. 1 hair ditto. 1 Brooch, with topaz in centre, and pearls all ronnd. 1 ditto, with sapphire in centre, surrounded with diamonds and rubies. 2 ditto, with turquoise stones. 1 ditto, witli large amethyst set in pearls and diamonds. 1 ditto, with white drops. 1 large cameo Brooch. 1 gold mourning Brooch, with an Inscription at the back, ' To the memory ot H. Kemble, Esq.' 1 gold Necklace, with tassel ends. 1 p ir of gold Shawl Pins. 1 t> lue enamel Locket, with diamond cross. 1 ditto, with pearls. 1 ditto Loek « t, with the initials ' J. C. I 1 gold Seal, with arms engiaved. ) By two men of the following description, who were seen to go into the house, and can be identified : one about 26 or 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexion, high cheek- bones, daik moustache, whiskers shaved off, hair under chin ; dressed in brown coat, light trousers, and low- crowned hat; l the other younger and shorter, thick set, and dressed in dark coat, light trousers, and black hat.
