Whenever it is desired that any person should Uo appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no cliarge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all betters addressed to the Editor ninst be fireisaili, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. \ V.," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS fiaURlBER AND MAX. 2CIOUSX. Y WOUNDING. On the morning of the 26th ult. the body of a newly horn iemale child was found under a wall in Moira- street, Cardiff" ; it was wrapped in an old towel, some old linen, and a small piece of coburg cloth. At the coroners inquest'* lhe jury re- turned a verdict of ' wilful murder against some person or persons unknown.' £ 5 reward will be paid to whoever will give such information as will lead to the apprehension of the person, who placed the Body where it was found. Information to be given to Superintendent Stockdale, Cardiff, Glamorgan- shire.— Bow- street, March 2. On the 24th instant, the dead Body of a male child was found at Burscough, near Ormskirk, in a boat load of manure, which had been brought from Liverpool. An inquest has been held, and- a verdict of ' wilful murder against some person or persons unknown ' returned. Information to be given to the Constabulary Office, Ormskirk, Lancashire.— Boic- st., Feb. 28. On the 20th instant the dead body of a male infant Child was found in a privy vault, on the Normanton- road, Derby. Ililton, Town Hall, Derby.— How- street, February 23. forg- EELY- Absconded from Macclesfield on the 17th instant, charged with having forged a Bill for £ 300 : WILLIAM TAYLOR, a silk manufacturer, about 24 or 26 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, pale complexion, dork hair, black moustache, no whiskers, and of gentlemanly appearance; generally dressed in dark clothes, and light grey overcoat ; it is supposed that he will have a large sum of money in his possession, and will emigrate. Information to be given to Superintendent Etchells, Maccles- field, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Boio- street, February 23. S ROBBERY AX* IS LARCENY FSOM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person of a genileinan in Ashley, on the night of the 24th ultimo, a duplex gold hunting Watch, maker Robert Roskell, No. 69287, with gold Albert Chain, Eocket, aud Key attached. Stolen from the person of a gentleman in Sheffield, on the night of the 14th ultimo, a gold lever Watch, No. 61028, and a gold Albert Guard with a Guinea attached. £ 5 reward will be paid to any one who shall give such information as may lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property. Stolen from the person of a gentleman at Sunderland, on the 28th ultimo, two Watches : one a silver lever, maker " William Farquhar, London, No, 1441 ; the other a silver lever, maker John Marshall, Sunderland, capped and jewelled in six holes, enamelled dial, and engine- turned cases. Information to be given to Chief Constable Joseph Stainsley, Sunderland, Durham.— Bow- street, March 2. Stolen about 10 30 pan. on the Oth instant, from the person of a gentleman, in Cross- street, Manchester, a gold Watch, maker ' L. Beaver, Manchester, No. 48841,' had attached a long gold Chain. Any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the watch, shall receive £ 5 reward, on application to Captain Palin, Chief Constable, Towu llall, King- street, Manchester.— Bow- street, February 20. . Stolen on the 21st instant, from a gentleman at Cow cross- street Railway Station, a gold chronometer Watch, maker lioskell, Liverpool. — Metropolitan Police, G Division, Feb. 26. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. On the 23rd ultimo the house of Mary Morris, of Ilard- wick, Salop, was broken and entered, aud a pair of men's strong lace- up Boots, plain lace holes, square headed nails round heels, a row ot hobnails all round soles and one partially round, five or seven rows across the ball, stolen therefrom ; also a pair of cotton cord Trousers, about half worn, nearly white from frequent washing, were stolen from the garden. By THOMAS DAVIES, native of Berriew, Montgomeryshire, 30 years ot age, 6 feet U inches high, fair complexion, long and straight light hair, small sandy whiskers, little finger of left hand recently hurt by machinery ; dressed in round white slop with band round waist, plush sleeved waistcoat ( mixed colo- ir, red predominating), and the stolen trousers and boots. Will probably be found woiking at a farmhouse. Information to be given to Superintendent Baxter, Church Stretton, or to Sergeant J unes Lear, Police Statiun, Bishop's Castle, Salop, who holds a warrant tor liis apprehension.— Bow- st., March b. During the night of the 24th ultimo the dwelling- house of W. H. Miles, E- q., of Ham- grcen, near Bristol, was broken into, and the following articles stolen : an ivory Case with engraved monogram in black ' M F M,' containing a silver gilt Pencilcase, a stiletto Bodkin, a pair of Scissors, and a small Needlecase, all marked with a small star; a gold Pencilcase with plaiu white cornelian seal top ; a double silver topped Sceut- bottle, ' MFM' monogram on each end; a silver Thimble ; several pairs of Scissors ; a plated Cruet- stand; four plated Corner- stands, two round and two with tkiee leaves ; the silver Tops of two pepper bottles and mustard put; twelve silver handled Knives, crest—. 1 cat's head ; a silver hunting Flask, marked ' W. 11. Miles, Lei • h Court"; a small silver Cup, marked ' M. F. C.' ; two plated Tea Spoons, crest— a man's head ; uand about 14s. in silver. Entrance was effected by means of cutting a hole in the front door with a large centre bit. £ 10 reward - vill be given for such information as shall leid to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. During the niglit of the 21st instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Audley, of Kingsley, was broken aud entered, aud the following property stolen : three snuff- coloured velveteen shooting Jacke. s, one of them has six pocuets, and the others four each ; six new white calico Shirts, part made ; three ditto, made up ; three pairs of men's Blucher Hoots, light make ; a pair of strong lace- up Boots, with luass holes, the light boot has a hole through the bottom ; a pair of woman's elastic- side Boots ; two pairs ot cloth buttoned Boots, nearly new ; two black cloth Capes ; a Paisley Shawl; two white Tablecloths ; a blue and white ditto; a white aud red ditto; a woman's grey woollen Shawl ; a Shirt Front and several Collars ; a white and red knitted Purse ; a leather clasp Purse; 6 yars of new blue and white Check ; three pairs of men's grey Stockings; a pair of leather Leggings ; a check Slop ; six Umbrellas ; two Parasols ; two black- handled Razors; a Likeness of a young man ; ditto of a young woman ;. two ladies' Falls ; three flannel Shirts ; several men's Scarfs ; a black felt Hat; five silver Tea Spoons, fiddle pattern, marked ' T. ^' H.; sixsilver Spoons, marked ' M. G.;' and £ 8 in Gold and Silver. Information to be given to Superintendent Gwynne, Tarporley, or to Sergeant Hilton, Police Office, Frodsbam, Cheshire. — Bow- street, February 26. During the night of the 23rd instant the dwelling house of the Rev. G. Alfree, Romanoff Cottage, Tunhridge Wells, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen there- from : 1 case of Mathematical Instruments in brass, with a set of Marquoise Scales, in a mahogany box, about 14 inches long. 1 case of Mathematical Instruments in german silver, in a rosewood box, about 7 inches long. 1 small double Opera or Field Glass in case. 1 rough dark blue Overcoat, plaid or check lining, two large pockets inside flap, one inside breast pocket, and one ticket pocket outside. 1 thin dark mixture Overcoat, breast pocket inside and ticket pocket outside. 1 dark blue leather Writing Case with Brauiah lock, containing a new buff coloured leather Purse, 10s. 6d. in Money, and a number of Memoranda and Letters addressed ' Mrs. Allfree.' 5 silver Thimbles— one engraved ' E. S.', one ' Forget•• me- not,' and one ' A present from Hastings.' 1 meerschaum Pipe- bowl, nearly new, with wash leather round it. 1 vol. Smith's Antiquities, in calf, morocco outside cover; 1 vol. Euclid; I vol. Virgil's Eclogues; 1 Hiddells' Dictionary, in cloth; I Bullman'i Sexilogues; 1 Chepmell's Course of History; 1 Xenoplwn; and 1 Homer's Iliad ; some have the name of ' Allfree' inside aud souie ' Barrett1 or ' Walker,' Information to be given to Superintendent Embery, Tunbridge Wells, Kent.— Bow- street, February 20. Stolen at Swindon, on the 24th instsnt, from a shop window, by taking out a pane of glas-, a silver lever consular Watch, jewelled in four holes, No. 211353 ; a silver verge con- sular Watch, No. 11076, a silver albert Chain attached; a silver verge hunting Watch ; and a small silver Geneva hunting Watch, No. 25288. Supp- se'd by two lads: one about 17 or 18 years of age, 6 feet 4 or 6 inches high; dressed in dark clothes, and black bowler hat. The other 12 or 13 years of age, dresstd in dark clothes and cap. Information to lie given to Superintendent llaynes, Wilts Constabury, Swindon.— How- street, February 20. Between 12 noon and 6 p. m. on the 20th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Richard Hill, of Tong, was broken Bud entered through the back clumber window, and the following property stolen therefrom: £ 8 7 » . in Gold and Silver; a yellow and white silk Handkerchief; a man's puce and white silk Scarf for neck ; a common brown brass Scurf Pin ; and a pair of magenta and white woollen Cuffs. Two men of the following description were seen loitering about the house: one about 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, slender, dark complexion and hair, thin features ; dressed in a dark overcoat and cap : the other about 17 years of age, 8 feet 1 or 2 inches high, fresh complexion, light hair, and stout; dressed in dark overcoat with velvet collar, and cap. Between the hours of 8 and 0 p. tn. ou the 20th instant, the dwelling- house of Henry Brace, EalJ., J. P., May field, Walsall, was broken and entered, and the lollowing property stolen therefrom : a black varnished leather Pocket Book, con- taining ten £ 5 Bank ot England Notes, part stamped ' Bilston Bank,' two Cheques payable to Goudall and Co., upon tile Burton Bank, one ditto drawn by the Londun and Caledonian Insurance Company, payable to Henry Brace ; 12 silver Table Forks, six laigt, six small; 18 silver Spoons, six Dessert, six Tea, one Gravv, three .- Salt ( marked ' R.'), two old- faBbioned Table; 2 silver Sauce Ladle% markid * B.'; 1 Butter Knife with pearl handle ; I pair ot silver Sugar Tungs; a lady's gold Watch, maker Dent, London, No. 1511113 ; a lady's gold Chain with pendant attached ; a gold Necklet, set in centre with blue enamel, pearl pendants attached; a malachite Shawl Brooch ( an anchor set in silver). £ 50 reward will be paid upon apprehension and conviction of the offender or cfltnders and recovery of the property ; a moiety of the said reward will be paid upon conviction, without recovery of the property. A man 35 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches higll, well built, oval features, blotches und scrofula marks about face, dark brown hair ( cut short), no beard or whiskers; dressed in a light coloured witney top coat, and woollen cord trousers, is in custody ut Warminster, Wilis, on suspicion of having com- mitted several burglaries, and the fiillowing property is still missing: Stolen from Batliampton House, on 7th November last: a pair of silver- gilt Candlesticks, 14 inches high; a Bilver Ink Stand; a gold Mourning Ring, large green brilliant; a silver two- wheel miniatuie Dog Cart; an antique gold Ring ; three small silver- gilt Bottle Tops; an " gate Casket, set in gold ; a large silver Cruet Stand ; a small silver Tea Caddy ; two silver Table Spoons ; three silver Dessert Spoons; three silver Table Forks ; a large Sugar Bisin with top ; a pair of silver Sugar Tongs; two gold Thimbles, one marked ' G. B.'; a plated Flower Glass St-' iid; a revolving triangular gold Seal, with crest, ' H. A. J.,' and blue ston.: handle; most of the above have the crest— a lion rampant, the remainder initials ' H, A. J.' £ 30 reward. Also stolen on the 20th ultimo, the property of Mrs. Young, of Bemerton ; a dozen large silver For to,; a dozen 6mall ditto; five silver Table Spoons, some marked ' F.,' others' A.' in old English ; a dozen silver Tea Spoons, nmked ' P.'; a silver Gravy Spoon ; a silver Butter Knife ; two silver Fruit Knives, with pearl handles; a pair of silver Sugar Tongs; two silver Bedroom Candlesticks; a gold Ring with hair; a large gold Brooch, containing various coloured hair, set in form of the Prince of Wales' plume, bound with gold wheat ears, and pearls at bottom ; a pair of silver Salt Spoons; a Brooch with gold rim and white stone; a Brooch with gold rim and stones to imitate diamonds; a Mourning Brooch ' In Memory of'; two gold Pencil Cases, with sliding pen; a gold Napoleon, and several email silver Coins; most of the silver articles have the crest— a mailed arm with a broken spear. £ 10 reward. Also stolen on the 23rd December last, from Sedge Hill House, Wilts : a silver Inkstand, crest— five battle- axes in a wreath, and initials' G. T. B.'; a silver Bowl and Sifter, same crest; a silver Milk Pail and Ladle ; a silver Fish Slice and Fork ; two small silver Spoons and Forks for children; a Vinaigrette ; a flat silver Box, with monogram engravrd in centre ' BAGB.'; a gold Thimble; a plain silver Thimble; a double Scent Bottle, with silver- gilt tops; some gold and silver Coins. £ 10 reward. Also stolen on the 4th December last, fiom the Duke of Somerset's, Maiden Bradley : a gold and platina mixed long guird Chain ; a Seal Ring with gold Key; eight gold Vest Buttons, twist or cable pattern. £ 10 reward, 0 POLICE GAZETTE, March 5. HORSE A3STD CATTLE STEALING Stolen from a meadow in Kingston- lane, near East- street, Epsom, Surrey, on the 2nd or 3rd instant, a bay Mare, 5 years old, 15 hands high, rough coat, long tail, Roman nee, and only partly broken ; also a dark brown cob Gelding, 14 hands high, no white except the saddle marks, a little lame in one of the fore feet. Information to he given at the ' Railway Tavern,' Epsom, Suirey.— Bow- street, March 5. Stolen between the S6th ultimo and 2nd instant, from a field on the Branstone- road, Burtoa- on- Trent, a half bred roan Mare, ai; ed, 15i hands high, black mane aud tail, light hair under the belly, in rather low condition, the property of Mr. J. Blaxley, of the ' George Hotel.' Iuformation to be given to Inspector Williams, Burton- on- Trent.— Bow- street, March 5. Stolen on the 28th ultimo, from a stable, No. 35, Little Russell- strcet,, Bloomsbury, a bright bay Horse, 6 years old, 14J hands high, in good condition, star on forehead, white streak down forehead, otf hind fetlock white, round shoe and leather on near fore toot; a spring Cart, painted lead colour, ' C. Jeakes & Co., Engineers, 61, Great Russell- street,' painted in black letters on side; a set of brass mounted Harness, complete ; a dark Horsecloth with red stripe ; and a corn Sack. — Metropolitan Police, E Division, Mat eh 5. Suppo- ed to have been stolen from a field adjoining the back of the cavalry barracks, Windsor, about the 25th ultimo, a black Gelding, about 14:; hands high. If stolen, £ 5 5s. re- ward will be paid to any person giving such iniormation as will lead to the aj prehension and conviction of the offender of offenders ; if strayed, £ 1 Is. will he paid on recovery of the gelding, on application to the Treasurer of the Windsor Association, Mr. W. S. Cantrell, High- street, Windsor. Infor- mation to be uiven to Inspector Reece, Police Station, Clewer. — Bow- street, March 6. Description of a man frequenting fairs with cattle dealers, who wasentiusted with a Horse on the 19th ultimo at Chertsey fair to take to Redhill, and has not since been heard of: about 35 years ot age, 5 feet 5 or G inches high, thick set, with long hair, and has the appearance of a gipsey ; dressed in a long smock frock, and black billycock hat. The horse is an iron grey gelding, about 15 ^ hands hign, brougham tail, 7 years old, with a riding saddle and cart bridle on. Information to be given to Superintendent Rogers, Reigate, Surrey.— Bow- st., March 2. Further information respecting the bay mare Pony stolen from Brook's Farm, Stocking Pelham, on the evening of the 22nd ultimo : two men ot the following description were seen leading the pony through Hadham in the direction of the Londou- road: one 21 years of age, 5 ft. 5 or 6 in. high, whiskers shaved off, dark complexion, and looks very ill; dressed iu a light rough coat and dark trousers ; the other about 18 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 6 inches high, dressed in dark coat aud trousers : they are brothers, natives of Clavering, Essex, but now reside in Raglan- street, Kentish Town- road, London( Information to be givi- n to Inspector Ryder, Bishop Stortford, Herts.— Bow street. March 2. Stolen at Ashprington, Devon, during the night of the 27th uliiino, a dark bay cob Hors*, aged, about 14 hands 1 in. high, both hind feet white, the tore feet turn inwards, switch tail, crooked hocks, long thin neck aud rather large head. Information to be given to Superintendent Vaughan, Devon Constabulary, Kingsbridge.— Bow- street, March 2. Further particulars respecting the in- foal Mare and Cob stolen from husborne- Crawley, B. ds, on the night of the 21st advertised in tne Police Gazette of the 23rd instant: two horses answering the description were traced through Whetstone, Middlesex, at 7 o'clock on the evenihg of the 22nd instant, to the ' Bald- faced Stag' at Finchley, in charge of a boy, who said he brought them from South Mimms for his master; a man in a cart carrying a dead horse joined him there, and left about 8 o'clock with the hordes, from which point the trace was lost, but on the following morning ( 23rd), two gipsy horse dealers, named RILEY BELDOM and EDMUND HEARN, who are sus ccted of having committed the robbery, were seen. at Bushey, llerts, and it is ascertained that they brought to a stable belonging to the said Hearn, at Bushey, during the night ol the 22nd instant, two horses answering the description of those stolen. The in- foal mare, it was said, was sold on the 23rd to one Darvill, a carrier, of Watford, Herts, and the cob was said to have been sold to one Deacon, of Hemel Hempstead, Herts, on the 24th inst. ; this account is believed to be untrue, and it is supposed that the two horses were suddenly removed from Bushey by way of Hemel Hempstead and Berkhampstead on the 24th, as two similar horses were seen about 4 p. m. on that day at Hemel Hempstead, going in a direction for Berk- hampstead, Chesham, Rickmansworth, Shepherd's Bush, & c. Information to be given to Superintendent Young, Woburn, Beds.— Bow- street, February 28. Supposed stolen from a field near Westbury, on the nigh of the 22nd instant, a wether Sheep, spot of red lead on shoulder, aud marked ' J. 0.' iu pitch on the rump. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Ivins, County Police Office, Shrewsbury, or to Police Constable ( 7) Dovey, Police Station, Ivy End, near Shrewsbury, Salop.— Bow- street, February 26. Supposed stolen between the 17th and 21st instant, from Chatley Common, a grey Gelding, from 4 to 5 years old, about 13 hands high, long tail, long rough coat, and in fair condition, the property of Mr. A. Weston. Information to be given to Superintendent Jenner, Lewes, Sussex, or to P. C. J. Phipps, Chailey Police Station.— Bow- street, February 26. Stolen on the night of the 22nd instant, about 7 p. m from a farm yard at Stocking, Herts, a bay mare Pony, 14 hands high, 6 years old, white star on the forehead : supposed by two costermongers from London, and traced in that direction the same night. Information to be given to Inspector Oliver, Buntingford, Herts.— Boa- street, February 26. Description of HENRY HIMES, alias HENRY ALLEN, charged on warrant with stealing two Horses at Tudley, on the 14th instant ( with two other men in custody) : he is about 20 years of age, short and stout, no whiskers, dark hair and com- plexion ; dressed in grey worsted cord trousers, round jacket, and blue worsted cap with peak of same material, and a speckled band round it; he is a native of Stanworth, near Hounslow. Information to be given to Superintendent Dance, Police Court, Tunbridge, Kent .- Bow- street, February 23. Supposed stolen between the 11th and 14th instant, from a field near the Pershore- road, Worcestershire, a dark brown horse Pony, black legs, no shoes, 3 years old, rough coat with some grey hairs, white spot on forehead, has a blemish from blister on the off fore leg below the knee, bang tail, and crupper marked. Information to he given at the Detective Oliice, Birmingham.— B< - street, February 23. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT Absconded from Lewes, Sussex, on the 28th ultimo, a man of the following description, charged with felony : SAM JENNER, about 24 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, light complexion and hair, J brown wi iskers meeting under the chin, is a labourer ; dressed in white slop, moleskin trousers, red comforter, black cloth cap, and heavy navvy boots.
