Absconded from the borough of Wisbeach, on the 30tli ultimo, charged with unlawfully and maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm upon one Charles Rutherford, who is since dead; FREDERICK SYMONS, bricklayer, native of King's Lynn. Norfolk, about 24 years of age, 5fiet 3 or 4 inches high, light hair, no whiskers, light complexion, thin pale face, hollow cheeks ; dresses as a bricklayer, and sometimes wears a blue monkey jacket and Scotch cap with ribbon behind. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Burton, Dudley, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, January 1. tuft of sandy hair on chin ; dressed in a brown fustian jacket, cord trousers, low black crowned hat, and strong lace- up boots. The other about 20 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, black curly nair, blue eyes, no whiskers, small feet; dressed in old dark coloured cloth clothes, and light pair of boots. A pair of blue knitted stocking feet were found on the lawn near Mr. Slight's house. Information to be given to Superintendent Corbishley, Ashbourne, Derbyshire.— Bow- street, January 8. ARSON AND WILFUL BURNING- About 8' 30 p. m. on the 29th ultimo, a wheat straw stack, in a field on the Baldersby and Ainderby Bridle Road- side, near Baldersby, was destroyed by fire. Supposed by an incen- diary. Information to be given to Superintendent SValmsley, Leyburn, or to Sergeant Metcalfe, Wath, near Ripon, York- shire.— Bouj- slreet, January 3. On the afternoon of the 24th ultimo, the body of a full grown female Child was found drowned in the liver Lugg, near the Railway Station, Leominster. A c proner's inquest was held on the 26th ultimo, on the body, and a verdict of ' Wilful Murder ' was returned against some person or persons unknown. £ 50 reward will be p< iid by Her Majesty's Gover- ment to any person who shall give such information and evidence as shall lead to the conviction of tile murderer of murderers, and Sir George Grey, Her Maj sty's Secretary ot State for the Home Department, will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the one who actually committed the murder. Description of three persons charged on a warrant with being accessories to the Wilful Murder of Euoch Augustus Hooper, a police constable, while in the execution of his duty at Willenhall, on the 8th instant: PATRIC RUAN, about 2G years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark hair, small whiskers, long features, appears weak in the loins when walking ; dressed in c. irduroy jacket and trousers, white slop, moleskin vest, and dark cloth cap with peak. JAMES NALLEY, about 29 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, well made, light brown hair, whiskers inclined to sandy, long aquiline nose, long visage; dressed in moleskin trousers and vest, white slop, and black cloth cap. OWEN alias OWNEY O'DONNELL, about 2C years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, stout made, broad features, large heavy limbs, light com- plexion, light brown hair, small whiskers, fat chubby face, ulcer or sore on leg ; dressed in blue pilot jacket, dark vest, and moleskin trousers. They are labourers, and natives of the County Mayo, Ireland. Information to be given to Col. Hogg, Chief Constable of Staffordshire, or any Police Officer in the County of Stafford.— Bow- street, Deceinbcr 26. FORGERY- Obtained by false pretences, on the 22nd ultimo, from No. 4, Upper Park- place, Dorset- square, Marylebone, £ 5 10s. ; also on the same date, from 35, Upper Park- place, Marylebone, by a forged cheque, £ 4 10s. By CHARLES FIELD, 36 years of age, 6 feet hi^ h, sallow complexion, dark brown hair and moustache, whiskers shaved off; dressed in dark clothes and hat; gentlemanly appearance. Stolen on the night of the 2nd instant, at Bramdean Common, near Alresford, by means of housebreaking, a flannel Shirt, nearly new, without sleeves ; 6 yards of new Calico ; a , new lavender print Apron, without strings : twe white Shirts, much worn, plain fronts ; a pair of blucher Boots, much worn, half tip off the right boot behind, cleets on toes; a pair of leather Leggings, nearly new ; a tin Can or Battle, about three pints ; the property of James Paice. Also, on the same night, from the dwelling- house of James Jones, two blue cotton Shirts, one nearly new, ironmould between the shoulders and two small holes, the other quite new, unfinished, t sleeve and binders to go on, which were rolled up in the shirt; a pair of grey worsted Stockings, the toes cut off and pieces of flannel sewn on the heels with blue worsted ; a pair « f old cord Trousers, mended in several places ; and a black whalebone Whip, with about ten or twelve brass ferrules. A navvy is suspected, a young man, stout built, dressed in white slop, cord or fustian trousers, and billycock hat; carries a pack or bundle at his back, and had in his possession a tin can anstvering the description of the one stolen ; he was traced as far asFarnham, Surrey, which place he left on the evening of the 3rd instant, by train for Horsham, West Sussex : will most likely seek for employment on railways or other public works. During the night of the 4th instant, the dwelling- house of the Rev. A. J. Slight, of Alkmonton, was broken and entered and the following property stolen : a yellow and purple knitted silk Purse, with steel clasp and yellow tassel at bottom, con- taining four Two- shilling Pieces, a Half- crown, and some Shillings and Sixpences ; a quantity of old Pennies, Half- pennies, and Farthings, one farthing of the reign of Queen Anne, and a quantity of pennies and half- pennies of the reign of King George III. Two men tramps of the following des- cription are suspected : one about 30 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, light hair and complexion, no whiskers, small During the night of the 1st instant, a dwelling- house at Darlingscott, Worcester, was broken and entered, and the following property was stolen : 1 old pilot cloth Coat, lined with red and black plaid lining. 1 black cloth Waistcoat with small roll collar. 1 pair of strong water- tight Boots. 1 pair of men's walking Boots, sprigged on the soles, and the right one much worn on the toe. 1 electro- plated Mustard Spoon marked ' M. Stolen during the night of the 27th ultimo, the property of William Evans, a brown cloth Coat, a green plaid Waist- coat, a pair of light- coloured woollen cord Trousers, a white linen Shirt, a flannel ditto, a silk Handkerchief, a Pawnticket of a watch pledged for 20s. at Grantham's, Oxford- road, Man- chester, a Knife, Tobacco- box, and 6Jd. By a lodger, who broke out of the house : about 23 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, light hair and complexion, and small light beard ; dressed in a short moleskin jacket, dark double- breasted waistcoat, and oilskin cap, Information to be given to Chief Constable Mac- michael^ Warrington.— Bow- street, January 5. Absconded from Stock t< n- on- Tees, on the 22nd ultimo, Charged with stealing a Mule, wjiich has been recovered : JOHN HUMBLE, 18years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fresh complexion, grey eyes, brown hair out thort, proportionate figure, a labourer ; dressed in an old brown cloth coat much worn, dark cloth vest, brown cloth trousers with patch on knee. Information to be given to Superintendent John Atkinson, Stockton- on- Tees, Durham.— Bow street, January 5. Between the 29th ultimo and the 1st instant, a dwelling- house, in the borough of Sunderland was entered by skeleton keys, and the following articles stolen therefrom : a silver lever Watch, maker Gowland, Sunderland, No. 3155 ; 13 silver Tea formation to be given to Chief Constable Joseph Stainsby, Sunderland.— Bow- street, January 5. During the night of the 30th ultimo, the cottage of James Allen, at Chisbury, in the parish of Little Bedwin, was broken into, and the following property stolen: a pair of Balmoral Boots, tipped and nailed witli small round- headed nails, about half worn ; a dark brown cloth Overcoat, single breasted, pockets in Bides, one breast pocket, plaid linings, about half worn ; two black billycock hats, nearly new ; a short fustian Slop ; a coarse hand Towel, fringed at one end, supposed marked ' A.'; a hock of cooked Bacon, and about 5 lbs. of uncooked ditto. Supposed by a tramp. Information to be given to Superintendent Stretten, Marlborough, Wilts.— Bow- street, January 3. Further information respecting the burglary committed at the Duke of Somerset's, at Maiden Bradley, Wilts, on the night of the 4th, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 11th ultimo, when the following property was stolen: a long gold and platina guard Chain, eight gold vest Buttons, cable pattern, and a large gold mourning Ring. A man of the following description is strongly suspected : about 35 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, light hair ( cut short), beard and whiskers shaved off, full face with small blotches on it, has a mark under his chin, J- in. wide, apparently from scrofula or a burn, bald on top of head, stout build, square shoulders, walks erect, and with a firm step, and is quiet, in manner; was dressed in a light- coloured bowler hat, light- coloured cloth overcoat, and coloured woollen cord trousers, fitting rather tight; has the appearance of a pugilist, stops at public- houses, usually drinks cider or brandy and water, and is remarkably quiet and temperate. He uses a § chisel in breaking open drawers, boxes, & c.; alter a robbery he has been traced to take an earlv train. £ 20 reward will be paid on conviction of the offender. Stolen from a cottage at Buriton, Hants, between 9 a. m. and 8 p. m. on the 1st instant, by means of housebreaking: 1 black cloth Coat, two pockets outside. 2 pairs of black cloth Trousers. 1 pair of dark tweed ditto. 1 black cloth Vest. 1 black woollen ditto. 3 white calico Shirts, with linen fronts. 1 blue Shirt. 1 pair of half Wellington Qpots, nearly new, with leather straps. 1 low- crowned Hat. 1 light- coloured silk Handkerchief. 1 white linen Slop, buttons down the front. 1 grey w- oolien Capex bound with black, with white beaded collar. Information to be given to Superintendent Lowland, Peters- field, Hants.— Bow street, January 3. Stolen from the Rectory, Bremore, Hants, between 12 and ( 5 a. m. of 19th ultimo,' by means of housebreaking: a silver Inkstand, being a silver' tray with two large circular cut glass bottles and a silver taper stand between them, they are mounted with silver tops with three round holes, by which ink may be obtained without removing them; a silver Thimble, marked ' M. W. C.'; and a pair of steel Scissors, maker Welson or Wilson and Sons. Supposed by a man, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, pale complexion, thin features, slightly built, light hair, respectable appearance ; dressed in light, mixture coat and trousers, black overcoat, leather leggings, and blacic donkey hat. He represents that he is a German from Coblntz; speaks and reads the German and English languages; that he lost his wife whilst a librarian at Torquay, Devon and that, himself and his children are in distress, and wish to go to London. With this story he has been imposing upon clergymen in the neighbourhood of Ring- wood. He has with him" a card of the Rev. Mr. Turner. He is most likely to be found at low common lodging- houses. Is inquiring for a situation as librarian. Information to be given to Superintendent Stephenson, Ringwood, or to Sergeant Higginson, Fordingbridge, Hants.— Sow- street, January 1. Stolen by means of housebreaking, from the dwelling- house of James C. Haffenden, parish of Spaldhurst, between the 25th and 28ih ultimo: a silver lever Watch, No. 638 ; a silver fruit Knife, with mother- o'- pearl handle ; a white calico Shirt linen front ; and a small canvas Bag containing some copper Money. Between 7 p. m. 21st, and 8 a. m. the 22nd instant, soii. e person or persons did conceal themselves on, or break into the warehouse of Messrs. Pearson, Dean- street, Little Bolton, and did steal from the safe : 4 brown stuff Bags, 1 regatto Bag, containing £ 206 ; 2 of tbe bags contained half crowns and shillings, 1 contained Florins, 1 contained £ 13 in gold, an-' the remainder in sixpences, and 1 contained about £ 5 183. 6d. in mixed money. £ 50 reward and all reasonable expenses will be paid for such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the money, or in proportion thereto Information to he givetno the Chief Constable, Borough Police Office, Bolton.— Bow- street, Decemb. r 29. Description of JAMES PAINTING, charged with burglary ot Chalbury, and for whose apprehension a warrant has been issued: about 35 years of age, 6 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark complexion, stout, short gait, walks with his head down, and has a dissipated appearance ; dressed in a dirty fustian slop, cord trousers, dark cloth cap, and strong lace- up boo'. s. Stolen by means of housebreaking, on the 24th and - 25th instant: 1 gold Watch, maker Nicholson. 1 gold Chain, cage pattern, Eyeglass attached, 1 gentleman's gold Ring, masonic marked. 1 pair gold Eardrops, foreign make, 3 iucbes in length. 5 silver Tea Spoons, marked ' J. S. B.' 12 silver Tea Spoons, and 3 silver Table Spoons, marked « M. H.' 3 silver Tea Spoons, marked ' S. Between 6 and 8 p. m. on the 24th instant, a house at Reading was entered, and the following property stolen : four old fashioned silver Tea Spoons, marked ' M. L.'; a ditto, marked ' B.'; and five ditto, not marked. Also between 11 a. m. and 1 p. m. on the 26th instant, another house was entered by skeleton keys, and the tollowing articles stolen ; four Table Spoons, a Gravy ditto, two Salt ditto, two Dessert ditto, and a small old- fashioned Cream Jug, all silver and marked ' I. S. K.'; a pair of silver Sugar Tongs, crest— a lion : a silver Pepper- box ; a silver Nutmeg- grater, ' Mary Walker' engraved thereon ; a silver Fiuit- kmte ; a small gold Chain with two gold Lockets attached ; and a gold King with pearls and hair in it. Supposed by a man, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, proportionate make ; dressed in a dark coat, grey trousers, and dark or brown Dudley hat. Information to be given to the Chief Superintendent of Police, Reading, Barks.— Bow- street, December 27. # During the night of the 21st instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Thomas Wheeler, of Rock, Worcestershire, was broken open, and the following articles stolen therefrom: an old- fashioned double- barrelled Gun. altered from flint, and steel to percussion, m irked ' Robert Wheeler,' or ' Robert Wheeler and Son two Powder Flasks, one covered with brown leather, the other with black, ' T. Wheeler' scratched on the brass tip of each ; a silver Dog Whistle ; a double- bladea Pocket- knife, marked ' Plum, Worcester ;' a small dark Linthorn ; two old- fashioned silver Table Spoons, marked ' S. H.' on the back ; three silver Tea Spoons, marked * E. M. W.;' and a silver Pencilcase, with a white atone. Information to be given to Superintendent Raby, Police Station, Great Witley, Worcester- shire.— Bow- street, December 26. Further information respecting the burglary at Breamore: the bottles of the inkstand are circular with silver tops, in each t > p there are three round holes, by which ink can be obtained without removing the tops ; a pair of steel Scissors were also stolen, and are either marked ' Wilson' or ' Wilson and Son '; the thimble is marked ' M. W. C.' not ' M. C. P.' as previously advertised.— Bow- street, December 26. Between 10 30 p. m. 21st, and 7 a. m. on the 22nd instant, a shop was entered at Steel Lane, Barkisland, and the follow- ing property stolen; 4 pieces of Flannel; about 49 yards of Holland; 1 black scarf Shawl ; 1 green and black plaid Shawl; 4 silk Handkerchiefs, 2 red and white, and 2 with white ground, and large yellow spots; 1 piece of slate- coloured lining ; 1 piece of brown Alpaci ; 1 piece ot black litto ; 12 yards of black Coburg ; 18 yards of Linsey ; 18 pairs of niea's grey Stockings ; 24 pairs of women's blacn - itockings ; 18 pairs of lambswool Stockings; 12 men's shirti e'ronts; 3 woollen Neckerchiefs, red and black plaid ; 10 lbs. of Worsted, various colours; 11 pairs of women's brown Stockings ; 12 pairs ot cotton Stockings; 40 yards of Print ; 30 lbs. ot Tea, 6 lbs. green, 24 lbs. black ; 7 lbs. of Tobacco ; 14 ibs. of Cheese ; 20 lbs. of Butter , 3 loaves of lump Sugar ; - I corn Sacks, marked ' Sower by Bridge Flour Society'; and 3s. in Copper. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING Description of ROBERT SAVAGE, of Bungsy, nut hawker, who is charged with stealing a Donkey : 30 years of age, 5 feet high, dark hair and complexion, round tace, no whiskers ; dies- ed in a blue monkey jacket, dark cap or deer- stalker hat; he attends fairs, and is accompanied by a woman who wore a hat with a feather ; he is known by the name of Minnifer, or the little man. Information to be given to Sergeant Taylor, Halesworth, who holds a warrant for his appiehension.— Bow- street, January 8. Supposed to have been stolen from the Wern Farm, Merthyr tydvil, on the 25th ultimo, a mouse- coloured grey horse Ponv, 3 years old, 12 hands high, dark grey mane and switch tail squared a little at thd* end. Also, from a field Ystradbarwick, Glamorganshire, on the 16th ultimo, a bay Mare and horse Colt: the mare is 4 years old, 13 or 14 hands high, white streak down the face, white mark on the off hind leg and marks of blistering, black mane and tail; the colt is a light bay, rising 2 years old, 11 or 12 hands hands high, white star in the forehead, white mark on the off hind leg, and long tail, never having been cut.
