DESCRIPTION of a man, unknown, native of county Wexford, who stands charged with having, on tbe 24 th day of May, 1863, at Crannagh, in the barony of < Idrone East, parish of Kiltennel, stolen six ewes and fix lambs, tbe property of Charles Cartty:— 55 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches higb, stout make, red com- plexion, dark hair; wore a beaver hat, blue coat, moleskin trowsers, light vest; had dark whiskers, turn- ing gray ; wore a red cravat. Description of the owes and lambs. Tbe sheep were branded with a double C on the laft side; one had a long tail, and three were of a yellowish colour. Four of tbe lambs were marked with a double C on tho left side, the other two with a aingle C. All were seen passing through the village of Myshall on 24th instant, and a man driving them to Castledermot fair, it is supposed his description is given in tbe printed form. Burris, 31st May, 1863. DESCRIPTION of a cow, the property of Patrick Lawler, which was stolen out of his cow- house at Aughavadrin, parish of Killeshandra, barony of Tully bunco, during night of 22nd instant, vi .:— A stripper cow, reddish colour, middle size, 8 or 9 years old, short cocked horns, is of tbe Devon breed ; was in thin condition, and value from £(> to £ 8. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that about the hour of 5 o'clock, on the afternoon of the 3rd of June, 1862, William J. H. Moreland, Esq., was fired at on the public road at Poulagour, in the barony of Tulla Upper, and county of Clare, by some person at present unknown. His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of XI00 to any per- son or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who com- mitted the same. By His Excellency's command, THOS. A. LARCOM. The above reward will be paid by William O'Hara, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Tulla, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. DESCRIPTION of two heifers, the property of Edmond Murphy, which were stolen from the lands of Inishdea, parish of Kilcbreest, barony of Clonderalaw, on the night of the 26th, or morning of the27th May instant: 1. A brownish red, white spots on hind quarters, white forehead, with a red star in the centre; straight horns, 2 years old ; and value for £ 9. s 2. DESCRIPTION of a cow, the property of James Clooney, which was stolen from the lauds of Scart, parish of Rossinan, barony of Knocktopher, on the night of the 25th instant:— red colour, a little yellow- ish in shade, common breed, thick horns, the top of the tail white, 4 years old; value for £ D, and calved in April last. STOLEN— A large three- year- old springer heifer, the property of Mr. O'Brien, of Drumsilla, Carrigallen, county Leitrim, was stolen off his farm on the nigbt of Tueeday last, the 26th May, 1863. Any information leading to her recovery will be rewarded. Description : She is a good- sized square heifer, in fine condition, with short horns, and of a whitish colour, known as " dirty white," having very pale red spots about head, neck, and shoulders; and is value for £ 14 and over; and was traced in the direction of Longford and Meath. ( b. 19498— 9471.) DESCRIPTION of a mare, the property of Henry Guickean, of Gowell, which was stolen or strayed from the lands of Drumliffin, on the night of the 26th, or morning of the 27th instant:— Light gray colour, white forehead, long tail, breast and hind quarters stripped of hair; about fourteen bands higb, three years old ; and value for about £ 8. DESCRIPTION of a springer heifer, the property of Mr. William O'Brien, of Drumsilla, near Carrigallen, which was stolen off a small farm, which he bold* in the townland of Kivvy, in the parish of Carrigallen, and barony of Carrigallen, on the night of the 2cfth, or morning of tbe 27th May, 1863:— Whitish colour, haviog pale red spots about the head, neck, and shoulders, 3 years old; and is value for £ l4. Carrigallen, 28th May, 1863. ( B. 19498— 9457.) Thomas M'Ginley's heifers, described in the Hue- and- Cry of the 26th May, have been recovered, and the offender arrested. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that on the night of the 17th instant, Mr. John Cussen was fired at and wounded at his residence at Ballyfokeen, in the barony of Connelloe, in the county of Limerick, by some person at present unknown. His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrator of this outrage, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 100 to any per- son who shall, within six months from the date here- of, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person who committed the same. Grace Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Bruff to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. WHEREAS information has reached the Government that Patrick Ross and James Ross, charged with the THE POLICE GAZETTE, _ OR HUE- AND- CRY, JUNE 5, 1863. • * . - r^ r. murder of John Corrigan, and with firing at and wounding his wife, Mary Corrigan, near Malkagh, in the barony of Longford, and county of Longford, on the 2Utli April, 186$, and who have not as yet been arrested, have been concealed, and are harboured, received, and concealed, and assisted and aided tn several parts of the country since the said murder: • Now, His Excellency the Lord Lieutenant is pleased to offer a reward of £ 100 to any person 01 persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information. as shall lead to the arrest of any one whomsoever who has, since the Said murder, knowingly harboured, or received, or con- eealed, or assisted or aided in htty Way whatever in their escape irom arrest, the saicl Patrick ross and James Ross. Will try to escape ' to America. James, 25 yeers of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, slight make, dark complexion, tiiitt lace, gray eyes, regular rtose, black hair; wore a dark frieze frock coat, Cord trowsers, dark tweed vest; Wore an old dark cloth cap. DESCRIPTION of John Dufty, who stands charged With having, on thr 4th day of May, 1863, at Abbey- lara, in the barony of Granard, parish of Abbeylara, stolen five head of cattle, tbe property of the Rev. G. L. Hornick and otherS. The Longford Police hold a warrant for Duffy's arrest:— 38 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, stout make, yellow complexion, black halt-. Supposed to be with Mrs. Bond, widow, respect- age 3c", very stout, with five children, from 13 to 4 years old, on the way to America. Supposed to be now at Liverpool. Gmnard, June, 1863. Is pockpitted ; has a mark of era old sore On his right arm, and on other parts of bis body, for which he had been recently under treatment in the County infirmary Claremorris, 31st M ay, 1863. ( B. 21126— 15579,) DESCRIPTION of two heifers, the property of James Hopkins, of Keenaghbeg, which were stolen from the lands of Triestia, parish of Crossmolina, on the night of the 23rd May, 1863:— 1. A red heiter, four years old, short cocked horns ; value tor £ 5. 2. A brown heifer, 3 years old, white spot on shoulder, branded with the letters P. F. on right horn ; value for £ 5. DESCRIPTION of 4 sheep, sold in Cong Market, on the 29th instant, by a man who gave his name as Syden, of Killitiane, near Fairhill, county Galway; but the purchaser, thinking he bought them too cheap, demanded security, whereupon the seller slipped away, and has tot since been heard of the sheep have been placed in Cong pound, by order of Captain Elwood, J. P. pending inquiry:— 1. Has the tops of both ears cut off, and a small hole in each. 2. Has the top of right oar cut off, and the top of left split. 3. Has the top cut off both ears. 4. Has a small hole pierced in each ear, evidently as a mark. Description of Syden, 30 . years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high; wore a bluo cloth cap, frieze body coat and vest, corduroy trowsers, new highlow shoes; stop- posed to be a native of Galway, Was seen on 29th, driving the sheep at Fairhill. John Waller Braddell, on the 80th of July, 1862, in the town of Tipperary, has hitherto evaded arrest. His Excellency the Lord Lieutenant is pleased hereby to offer a reward of £ 300 to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to tho arrest of the saifl Michael Hayes. And His Excellency is further pleasefl ' hereby to offer a re ward of £ 100 to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give Such information as shall lead to the arrest of any one whomsoever who has, since the said murder, knowingly harboured or received, or concealed, or assisted, or aided in any way whatsoever, the said Mi'chael Hayes in his escape from arrest. By His Excellency's command, THOS. A. LARCOM. The above rewards will be paid by any Resident Magistrate or Officer of the Constabulary. DESCRIPTION of said Michael Hayes:— 60 years of age, 6 feet high, stout make, dark sallow complexion, large heavy face, dark eyes, rather long nose, black, a little gray hair; wore a black friezo body coat, knee breeches, black stockings, Caroline hat; stooped shoulders, and a heavy slovenly gait when walking; has a down look; very heavy eyebrows, somewhat gray ; bald on tho crown of tho head, with a few stray hairs on it; several of his front teeth out; high cheek bones and sunken jaws; and altogether a remarkable and an ill- looking man. He may probably assume a disguise, such as a wig, moustache, false teeth, and black coat, & c. Cappamore, 3rd August, 1802. ( B. 10071— W58.3.)
