10 RETURNS RELATING TO THEOLOGICAL AND OTHER contributed by the members of my congregation. I have nothing to do with the distri- bution of the Regium Donum, nor have I any pension. The latter part of the order I do not understand to be addressed to me, but if I can render assistance in preparing a return to it I shall do so most willingly, so far as my information enables me. I further receive, as senior minister of the First or Old Presbyterian congregation, the sum of 1001. Irish currency, per annum, out of the Parliamentary Grant. My congregational income is 120?. per annum. The name of the congregation is the First or Old Congregation of Presbyterians. The minister's name, William Bruce; ordained on 3d March 1812. The number of families and sitters is 140. There were two services in the day on Census Sunday. The number of persons attending the same I do not know; but there are from 180 to 200 communicants at the Lord's Table. I subscribe 2 I. per annum to the Presbyterian Widows' Fund Association. I receive no emolument from glebe, chaplaincies, or any other source connected with my minis- terial profession. Belfast, 19 April 1862. ( signed) W. Bruce. RETURN of the Rev. John Ferrie. Sir, Belfast, 22 April 1862. NOT having been able to find anything in the returns ordered, which bears with any exactness on my case, I beg leave to state, as on a former occasion, that I held the office for upwards of 20 years, of Professor of Moral Philosophy and Metaphysics in the Royal Academical Institution, Belfast, and that that office being superseded by the opening of the Queen's College, in the same town, the Government, on being duly applied to, were pleased, in consideration of my long services, and the terms of my appointment, to con- tinue my salary of 1501, per annum, under the name of a Retired Allowance. Hoping that this statement will prove satisfactory, I have, & c. Sir Thomas Larcom, ( signed) John Ferrie. & c. & c. Royal Academical Institution, Sir, Belfast, 22 April 1862. THE above is a correct statement of the facts as regards Professor Ferrie's superan- nuation allowance of 1501, per annum. ( signed) W. H. Allen, Sir Thomas Larcom, Secretary Royal Academical Institution. & c. & c.
