The class commences each session in the beginning of November, and terminates in the end of April. It meets usually for one hour on each of the six ordinary week- days. The whole of the time of the professor is devoted to it. The students whose names are here given attended from the beginning to the close of the session. The professor has no pension, but receives 250 I. per annum from the State as teacher of the Church History Class. Each student pays a class fee of two guineas. The professor has no other income either from Government or a congregation, or any office. The students are all connected with the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, and intended for the ministry; but the professor can- not tell whether any of them may ultimately become missionaries. The professor is a member of the Irish General Assembly, and of course belongs to the denomination of sub- scribing ministers. ( signed) W. D. Killen, D. ( countersigned) H. Coolie, President of Faculty. RETURN from the Rev. Josins Leslie Porter, A. H., Professor of Biblical Criticism and Interpretation, General Assembly's College, Belfast. Belfast, 22 April 1862. I WAS elected to this professorship by the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ireland at its regular annual meeting in July 1860, in the room of the Rev. Robert Wilson, D. D., deceased. My return can only embrace the session of 1860- 61. The above session of the Assembly's College opened on the first Tuesday of November 1860, and closed on the last Thursday of April 1861. Twenty- five students were enrolled in my class, and continued regular in their atten- dance till the close of the session. Their names are as follows:— John Anderson. John Davidson. Thomas Forsythe. John Gilmour. W. Todd Martin. Andrew Murphy. Thomas R. White. Samuel Wilson. Matthew Woodburn. John W. Aiken. Samuel A. Bellis. John Cairns. James Cargin. Samuel Irvine. William M'Cay. William M'Cloy. Joseph T. M'Gaw. William Murphy. James Rutherford. R. Fleming Stuart. Vere E. White. William J. M'Cracken. William H. M'Clelland. Robert Kennedy. James Carson. All the above students are intended for the ministry of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. My class assembles regularly for instruction five days every week during the entire session, from three to four o'clock each day. There are, besides, occasional meetings for examination and other duties connected with the college. _ The Government salary attached to my professorship is 2501, per annum. I also receive a fee of two guineas from each student attending my class. I have no congregation, and my entire time is devoted, in accordance with the laws of the general Assembly, to the discharge of the duties of my professorship.
