Number of freemen in this borough on the register of 1837, as entitled to vote in the election of Members of Parliament - - - - - - - - 120 Number of freemen who are not municipal electors - - - - - - 55 It cannot be ascertained how many are not entitled to vote by virtue of any other quali- fication, as they are distributed over 90 parishes, comprising near one- third of the county of Nottingham, and the houses they occupy are not known to the town clerk; but in the parish of East Retford only five of these 119 are registered for other qualifications, although there are many more, it being the practice of the overseers in the various parishes not to register any known freeman for his other qualification.
