JAMAICA GAOLS. LIST of all PEUSONS confined in the different GAOLS and WORKHOUSES of the Island of Jamaica on ist January 1829; specifying the Date of their Com- mitment, and the Cause of it; the Length and Nature of the Sentence; with the Quality and Designation of the Individual. COPY of Despatch from the Earl of Belmore to the Right Honourable Sir George Murray, G. C. B. dated 16 November 1829. TO THE RIGHT HONOURABLE SIR GEORGE MURRAY, G. C. B. & c. & c. & c. SIR, King's House, Jamaica, 16th November 1829. REFEIIUING to your Despatch of the number and date stated in the margin, calling for a Return of all Persons confined in the Gaols and Workhouses of this Island on ist January last, specifying the Date of their Commitment, and the Cause of it; the Length and Nature of the Sentence, with the Quality and Desig- nation of the Individual; I have now the honour to forward such Returns as I have received, amounting in number to fifteen. The Returns which are still wanting I shall transmit as soon as I receive them. I have the honour to be, & c. & c. & c.
