Registry Office of Down and Connor, Sir, Lisburn, 28th May 1824. IN reply to your letter of the 20th February, enclosing an order of the House of Commons, dated the 10th day of February 1824, and a similar order of the House of Lords, dated the 16th February 1824, directing " A Statement of the number of Acres belonging to the Church in Ireland; distinguishing such as form part of Glebe lands, and distinguishing such as are uncuJtivated," 1 am directed by the Right Reverend the Lord Bishop of Down and Connor, to inform you, that there being no maps belonging to the See estate of Down and Connor, I am unable to make a statement ( agreeable to said order) to so much thereof as relates to the number of acres belonging to the see of Down and Connor. On examining the leases belonging to the See, registered in this office, I find that very few of them mention the number of acres demised, and even those do not distinguish the number of acres uncultivated. I find that in the diocese of Down and Connor, there are 1,246 acres which form Glebe lands, 39 acres of which are uncultivated. I have the honour to be, , Sir, Your most obedient humble servant, Wm Gregory, Esq. & c. & c. Heny J. Higginson, Dublin Castle. D. Registrar of Down & Connor.
