CHURCH ESTABLISHMENT OF IRELAND. 55 Appendix ( A.)— continued. DIOCESE OF OSSORY. An Account of the Churches and Glebe Houses, for erecting which Sums of Money have been advanced by way of Gift or Loan, and of which the completion has not yet been duly certified to the Board ; together with the Reasons assigned for the Delay in their completion, wherever unforeseen Delay has existed. OFFERELANE, a rectory and vicarage. The building of a glebe- house was commenced by the predecessor of the present Incumbent, who died, leaving the same in an unfinished state; in which condition it is likely the buildings must remain, as from the ineligibility of the site and other local circumstances attending the buildings, the Diocesan could not certify the same as a fit, convenient and eligible residence for the Incumbent and his successors. SKF. IRKE, a vicarage. A glebe- house was commenced, but not near finished, by the predecessor of the present Incumbent, who declines finishing the same, in consequence of the misapplication of the greater part of the money granted by the Commissioners of First Fruits to his predecessor, who died insolvent. An Account of the several Benefices in the Diocese of Ossory, for which Applications have been made, under the 43d and 48th Geo. 3, for a Loan or Gift of Money, to assist the Incumbent in erecting a Glebe House; together with a Statement of the Number and estimated Extent of the Parishes comprized therein; and whether such Parishes are contiguous or otherwise, whenever the Benefice consisted of an Union of two or more Parishes; and also stating, whether such Union had been formed by an act of Council or episcopally, and at what Period. AGHAVOE consists of one parish, about eight miles in length, and three miles in breadth. OFFERELANE, one parish ; it extends about nine miles in length, from north to south ; and the same in breadth, from east to west. It comprehends a great range of the Slieve- Bloom mountains, stretching from east to west about seven miles in length, and which land is too barren to be cultivated, and is not inhabited. SKEIRKE, one parish ; it extends about three miles from north to south, and about two miles from east to west. KILFANE UNION consists of three parishes; they are contiguous to each other. The benefice is about two miles and one half in length, and averages one mile in breadth. These parishes . were united by act of Council in the year 1676. DUNGARVAN, one parish; it is about two miles in length from north to south, and about two miles and an half in breadth from east to west. THOMASTOWN UNION consists of three parishes ; they lie all contiguous. The benefice is about one mile and three quarters in length, and half a mile in breadth. They were united by act of Council in the year 1803. KILMOGANNY, one parish. FIDDOWN UNION consists of four parishes ; they all lie contiguous to each other. The extent of the Union from east to west is about five miles; and from north to south, about four miles. These parishes were united by act of Council in the year 1689. ENNISNAG, one parish; it extends about two miles from north to south, and one mile and an half from east to west. RATHSARAN, one parish; it extends from north to south about half a mile; from east to west, about a mile. BURNCHURCH UNION consists of eight parishes, several of which ought rather to be denominated town- lands, being so extremely small. They are interspersed through the county of Kilkenny ; many of them are contiguous; those that are not so, are distant from five to eight miles. The estimated extent of the Union north of Kilkenny, is about ten square miles; and the extent of that portion south of Kilkenny, is about twelve square miles. These parishes were united by act of Council in the year 1678. The Diocesan knows not how they can be disunited, till the entire charge on the glebe house has been paid. RATHDOAVNEY
