COPIES of the Acts of the General Assembly of the City of Limerick, dated 30th September 1672; the Acts of the Common Council, October 2, 1672; October 7, 3672; October 14, 1672 ; the Act of Assembly, 6th October 1672; Entry, dated April 7, 1676; Rental of the Corporation, dated November o, 1677 ; and the Elec- tion of a Common Speaker, dated 3d April 1680. Extracted from the original Corporation Book of the City of Limerick, preserved among the Records of Birmingham Tower in His Majesty's Castle of Dublin. AT a general assembly of the mayor, sherriffes, and cittizensof the citty of Limrick, held at the . Tholsel of the said citty, on the first Munday aft the feast of S' Michael thark angell, being the xxx day of September 1672, being the day of election of mayor, sheriffes, & c. of the sd citty, according ye auncient custome thereof. Jo. Bourne, esq. Mayor. Dam Hignettj Sherriffes> Resolved, That Sr George Ingoldesby, knt. be and he is hereby nominated elected and chosen mayor of this citty for this ensuing yeare. And he is sworn accordingly. Resolved, That John Beere and John Halvin, be and they are hereby nominated elected and chosen sherrifFes of the sd citty and the county thereof for this ensuing yeare. And they are sworn accordingly. Resolved ( nem contrad) yl Standish Hartstronge, esqr the p° sent recorder, be continued in the office for this ensuing yeare. John Halpin. } Aid men Sheriffes. \ Burgas. Ords for Town CI. to inspect ye pannell for such at voted not free. Christopher Keys. Joshua Lynch. John Sims. Thos Marten. Der. Coghlan. Wm Yorke. Antho. Bartlet. Edwd Clarke. Rowland Bunling. Fr. Whittamore. George Buske. Daniell Hignett. Whereas, Mr. John Halpin, one of the p° sent sheriffes, on Munday last had a maior vote for the said office ag1 Mr. James Philips ( by one vote,) which was occasioned by a number of persons put into the pannell then cald over, who have not been duly admitted & sworn freemen of this citty, & that himself is of that number, and not admitted free by the mayor and councell according to the auncient custome of this citty, although he p duced a certificate of his admission, under the maioralty seale in the time of Ab. Jo. Bourne last yeare mayor, and alledgeth himself to have served seven years apprenticeship to a merch' in this citty, and was admitted and sworne free ahove twenty- eight years agone;— Resolved and ordered, That Daniel Hignet, the present town cl do inspect the pannell cald over at the last election, 8c the next councell report what p'sons were therein inserted & voted for the yc sd Mr. Halpin, who have not been admitted freemen by ye mayor & councell, & that Mr. Halpin make his former freedome there appeare. Resolved upon ye petn of Maurice Wall, shoemaker, that he be admitted to the freedom of this citty, to exercise his trade there, for the fine ofijs. vjc?. Beadles to have Resolved on the petn of Edwd Bond & Ja: Stone, the beadles of this citty, that they £. 3 a pc for ye be allowed the wages and sallary of three pounds a yeare for the last yeare ended at Mich, last yr, and £. 4 a last, wh the recr is hereby ordered to to pay unto them. And if they demeane themselves peece for this yr on for this ensuing yeare to the psent. mayor's good liking and appbation, that then they be behavio1. allowed four pounds a year for this yeares sallary. Mayor & Aid. Resolved & ordered, that the psent mayor & aid. Bourne, do treat & contract w, h Bourne to contract scaveng" for cleaning this citty for this ensuing yeare, & yl ( they pforming their contract) Scaveng". be paid by ye recr the sallary agreed upon. Resolved Mau. Wall, free- man.
