DEED of ADMEASUREMENT, fixing the Bounds of the County of the City of Limerick. • THIS INDENTURE, made the last day of August, anno dni, milesimo sexcentessimo nono, in the 7th year of the most prosperous reign of our most gracious and sovereign Lord James, by the grace of God, King of England, France and Ireland, and of Scotland the 43d, between us Donat' Earl of Thomond, Bernard Lord Bishop of Limerick, Sir Francis Barkley, knight, and Sir Thomas Browne, knight, on the one part; and the mayor, sheriffs and citizens of Limerick, on the other part: Witnesseth, That where the said King's Majesty, by his highness letters patent, sealed with the great seal of England, bearing date at Westminster the 3d day of March, in the 6th year of his said Majesty's said reign, of England, France and Ireland, and of Scotland 42d, hath out of his mere motion, certain knowledge and especial grace and bounty, for the abettering of the city of Limerick, incor- porated the mayor, bailiffs and citizens of Limerick, by the name of the mayor, sheriffs and citizens of the county of the city of Limerick: And hath further given and granted for his said Majesty, his heirs and successors, to the said mayor sheriffs and citizens of the said' county of the said city of Limerick, and their successors, that the said city of Limerick, and all and singular the houses, edifices, lands, waters, water- courses, the soil and territory, or fondament of the said city, situated, lying and being, and extending from the exterior, part of the walls of the said city of Limerick, be and to the extreme limits and confines of the ancient liberties and franchises of the said city of Limerick, in his Majesty's said county of Limerick and Clare, and every of them, and in the Island of Iidshkattery, being of the inheritance of the said city, lying and extending in the river and water of Shanon, should, and shall be from the making of the said letters patent, one county by itself' distinct and separate from his Majesty's said counties of Limerick and Clare, and from either of them, and from all other counties in his Majesty's said kingdom of Ireland, to all intents and purposes, and that by the name of the county of the city of Limerick they should be known and called; and that all and singular houses, edifices, lands, waters, water- courses, soil and fondament lying and being from the said exterior part of the wall of the said city of Limerick, in and throughout the said county of Limerick, of every part by the space or measure of 3,000 paces, in English three miles, from the said exterior part of the said city, according to the statute of terris mensurandis, within the term of one year, by us Donatt Earl of Thomond, Bernard Lord Bishop of Limerick, Sir Francis Barkley, knight, Sir Thomas Browne, knight, the Dean of Limerick for the time being, or any three or more of us to he measured, and by great stones or other notable signs to be bounded and limited; and by an Indenture with the hands and seals of the said comxhers, or any three or more of us, to he signed and sealed within the said time, to be so reduced and described, of which said indentures, one part under the hands of the said Earl, & c. shall remain with the said mayor, sheriffs and citizens, and another part of the said writings indented under the hands of the said Earl, & c. to remain in his Majesties court of Chancery of this kingdom of Ireland, among the records of the said court, and there to be enrolled, and that immediately from the said admeasurement and limitting of the said meares and writings indented, and indis- 617.
