THE above admissions marked ( a) and (/;) were occasioned by the additional and increasing duties which were brought into the National Debt Office by the following Acts : 56th Geo. 3, c, 60 - - Authorizing Stock remaining unclaimed 10 years at the Bank of England, to be transferred into the names of the Commissioners for the Reduction of the National Debt. 56th Geo. 3, c. 98 - - The Consolidation of the Debts and Sinking Funds of Great Britain and Ireland. 57th Geo. 3, c. 79 - - Permitting Stock to be transferred from the British to the Irish Funds, through the names of the Commissioners for the Reduction of the National Debt. 57th Geo. 3, c. 130 - - To encourage the establishment of Banks for Savings, which Banks are conducted in the National Debt Office. And, in addition to the aforegoing, the daily increase in the number of Life Annuitants, under the 48 th Geo. 3, c. 142, and subsequent Acts.
