Rev. William Lee, inspector of the Schools of the"! Association - J 50 50 ( 1.)— The office of Sub- treasurer was executed without salary, by the late Mr. Watson, the bookseller of the Society. Mr. Watson died in June 1818, and in the October following the assistant Secretary of the Association was appointed to the additional office of Sub- treasurer, with an income increased as above. The reasons for this arrangement have been fully stated in a letter from the Society to the Right Honourable Charles Grant, of the date of November 30th, 1819. ( 2.)— The Clerk and Accountant has a fixed income, ( at present of Fifty Guineas yearly) and derives an additional income from a per- centage on the Subscriptions collected by him. ( 3,)— The office of sub- treasurer's Clerk existed but for three years. The duties have been since executed by the other officers of the Society. ( 4.)— There is no permanent office of Inspector of Schools. The money mentioned above, was paid to the Rev. William Lee, for an inspection of the Schools aided by the Society, made in conjunction with those of two other Institutions for Education, in the Years 1819, 1820. The above stated are all the Salaries and Allowances paid by the Association, in the years specified by order of Parliament. Nothing has been ever paid by them except for actual service. No buildings have ever been erected or hired for the service of the Association. The only apartments employed by them for their business, are in the house of their Bookseller, and these they have had free of any charge— for rent or otherwise— from the first institution of the Society, until the beginning of the present year.
