A Return of the number of Persons who have at any time since the 17th of May i8i6 » been in confinement in the Gaol at Ivelchester, or Houses of Correction at Wilton and Shepton Mallett, in that County, for Offences against the Game Laws ;— viz. IVELCHESTER Gaol : 1. James Gary, committed May 31st, being convicted of using a certain dog, called a terrier, for the purpose of taking or killing Game, without having obtained such certificate as is by law required, whereby the said James Cary hath forfeited the sum of twenty pounds; for nonpayment of which, and as no sufficient distress could be had whereon to levy tlie same, it was ordered and adjudged, that he be committed to the House of Correction for six calendar months, unless the said penalty be sooner paid - - - Served out his imprisonment. 2. Isaac Ings, committed July 6th, being convicted of using in the daytime, on a Sunday, three terrier dogs, with intent to take or destroy Game, whereby he hath forfeited the sum of twenty pounds; for the nonpayment of which, and as 110 sufficient distress could be had whereon to levy the same, it was ordered and adjudged, that he be committed to the House of Correction for three months - - - Served out his imprisonment. 3. William Rose, committed September 6th, charged on oath with being found in an inclosed ground, about the hour of twelve at night, having a net, or other instru- ments, with the intent to take or destroy Game ; convicted at the Session October the 14th, and ordered to be imprisoned in the common Gaol six calendar months, and to pay a fine of one shilling - - Serving his sentence. 4. Robert Dowling, committed December 21st, charged on oath with being found, in the night time, in an inclosed ground, having nets, or other instruments, for the purpose and with the intent to take or destroy Game; convicted of this offence at the Session January 13th, 1817, and ordered to be imprisoned three calendar months in the common Gaol, and to pay a fine of one shilling - - - Serving his sentence.
