The Secretary conducts and sanctions with his signature the Reports made of Ihe proceedings of the different Offices, upon which in the ahfence of the Postmaster General he makes such are prefent he fubmits to ihem fuch Reports, and receives and carries into effect their Directions upon them. He signs the of the amount of Poftagr, chargeable 011 the Deputy Poftmafters fnr General and Post- paid Letters. He certifies quarterly the Gen ral and Poft paid Letters. He ceriifies quarierly the amount of Cicdiis to he made to the Deputy Postmasters for Salary, chargeable with the executiun of the duties of the Relident Surveyor, whole Office is a finccur?. He attends at all timts the ' n;> Inllnnflions as they may ordain. He figns 3nd allows all Tradcfmens Bills, and all other incidental Accounts, fuch Accourti Accountant General, upon which he authorizes their payment. In the abfence of the Postmasters General, he fuperintends the fuch orders in their name as he conceivcs expedient. His attendance, is conftant and at all hours by day and by night. He receives, entets, and enquires into, for the Informa- up and fot w. rrds all Expr. firs. Second Clerk — Receives and acknowledge*, and enters the particulars of all Remittances from Deputy Poftmafters, and him. He m ikes a Weekly Return to the Accounraut General of their Amount, and of the particulars of all Bills that have Third Cleik— This Officer enters allOffici. i! Letters, and copics all Papers that are requifite. He files and indorfes all the firft Clerk, he receives and enters the particulars of all Complaints.
