' J J' oraqut This Examinant faith, - _ ^ fk ^ d That he is a Surveyor of Excise, and at prefent in charge of Maltsters, Tanners and Paper- makers, in the Southern Survev, in the distriCt of che county of Dublin. In this survey, which extends upwards of thirteen miles to the South, and above nine in an Eastern direction from Dublin, there are three walks, containing eighteen Paper- makers Manufactories, three Malthouses, and one Tan- yard. When Licences have been taken out by Paper- makers, they give six days notice to the proper Col- lectors, Surveyors and Gaugers, of the time at which they intend to commence work j previous to which, Examinant takes the dimensions of their Engines and " Vats, which he enters in a dimension- book, but has never taken the dimensions of the Wet- presses. The entries of the dimensions of the Engines are made in the stock- books of the several walks of his survey ; but since the charge in respeCt to the Vats commenced, he has never, but in a Tingle inftance, made any entry of their dimenfions ; nor did he conceive that any entry, either of thefe or the dimenfions of the Wet- presses are ne- cessary.
