Auflions,& c\] ON FEES, GRATUITIES, & c. materials for making Cards, which ( hall be at any time found in the poffeffion of any Card- maker; and for charging fuch Card- maker upon any decreafe or deficiency of fuch Stock, not properly accounted for, with all the Duties payable for fuch Cards not accounted for, and alfo with the amount of the Duties on fo many Cards as might be made from or with fuch materials not accounted for; it appears, that no account is taken or kept by any Excife Officer, of the Stock of Card or Dice- makers in Dublin, nor, we preflime, in Cork or Limerick; and it feems probable that none could be kept which would be found to be efficient. The colleClion of this Duty, therefore, depending folely on the return and oath of the Manufacturer, the one might be received and the other adminiftered with equal fafety by fome Officer at the Stamp Office in Dublin, and the Head Diftributors in Cork and Limerick, who might alfo fupply the neceflary Stamps. Should this arrangement be adopted, a laving would be effeCted of the entire expeuce of the Stamp Matters and their Affiflants. J. S. ROCHFORT, FRED. GEALE, ROBERT ALEXANDER, CHARLES SAXTON, ( L. S.)
