' JVFO '( Ireland.)— D I O C S S A N R E T U R N S: A RETURN of the Names and Number of Parishes comprised in each union OF the DIOCESE Authority under which such Unions were united. The Number of Acres of Glebes which apper- respective Parishes lie from each other; and the Number of Churches in which Divine Service N° i. of • a rec. The DEANRY of Ferns, the Corps which consists of Gorey, o'rwise Christ Church - 7 Newborough, o'rwise Kilmakelogue Maglass ----- rectory. Kilkevan o'wise Lim rick - - rectory. Kilnehue o'rwise Lamogue - rectory. A real Union ; united to Gorey. There are 4 parishes ; The 3 parishes of Gorey, Kilkevan, and Kilnehue, are The CHANTORSHIP of Ferns, the Corps of which is, Templeshanbo' - a rectory &: vicarage. One parish. The Deanry is held under the Crown ; the feveral pariflies are not fet forth in the patent, therefore it is prefumed, this Union is from time immemorial, by Authority of the Crown. The CHANCELLORSHIP of Ferns, the Corps of which consists of Tacumshane, Rosslare Kilscoran Ballymore Killelane St. Margaret's a rectory 8c vicarage, the like, rectory. the like, the like, an imp. cure. These 6 parishes are contiguous. By the Titles of the Chancellorship it appears all thefe feveral parishes are consolidated, and are a real union from time immemorial. The T R E A S U R E R S H IP of Ferns, the Corps of which consists of Ballycannow - rectory. Monimolin - the like. Leskinfere, alias Clough - - the like. Kiltrisk the like. These 4 parishes are contiguous. Formerly the Treasurership consisted of Bally- cannow, Monimolin, Kiltrisk, and Carne, which last parish lay about 20 miles distant from the others, but by Act of Council, dated 19th Jan. 1739, Carne was disunited, and Leskin- fere, by reason of contiguity, was added. The ARCHDEACONRY of Ferns, the Corps of which consists of Adamstown o'rwise Murnevan - rectory. Newbawn - rectory. 2 parishes join. These parishes have, as far as can be known, from time immemorial been confidered as the Corps of the Archdeaconry. t ' F E R N" 3. T4. I ( f7. of FERNS ; the periods cf Time, as far as can be known, when the same were united; and the tain to each Parish; whether any Glebe- houfe be ereftea thereon, and the Distance at which such is performed, are now or have been, as far as can be known, severally thereon. There are set forth, by returns made by rural deans, three small glebes in this Union; One at Clonattin, par. of Gorey, One at Kilkevan, and One at Kilnehue ; supposed to contain about 12 acres. The parish of Maglass is distant from Gorey from 27 to 30 miles, and is a sinecure rectory! The vicarage endowed is in the Union ' of Killinick in N" 26. A glebe of about 24 acres. Contiguous to the glebe- house of Kilscoran is a glebe of 10 acres, part of which lies in the par. of Rosslare. At a mile distance, in the par. of Rosslare there is about About half a mile distant, in the parish of Kilscoran, is about About a mile distant, in the parish of Kilscoran, are about - And about 4 miles distant, in the parish of Tacumshane, are about - - - In all about 19 acres. I 2 0 2 O 0 4 O O The different glebes in the Treasurership con- tain as follows, about - - 63 1 26 Monimolin Leskinfere Kiltrisk - Ballycannow - 25 3 20 - 16 2 18 - 16 1 22 426 There is, and always has been, a parish church at Gorey, in which divine service is performed every Sunday by a curate not yet licensed. There is not a glebe- house, nor was to any one's knowledge in this Union. There is, and always was, a parish church here, in which divine service is performed every Sunday by a licensed curate.—- A very poor glebe- houfe, but in decent repair. There is, and always was, a church at Kilfcoran, in which divine service is performed every Sundav by a licensed curate. There is a new glebe- house thereon which wants some repairs: There had been formerly an old houfe thereon which fell to decay. There are three churches in this Union, divine service performed every Sunday ; One at Ballycannow, One at Monimolin, and One at Leskinfere. There is a new glebe- house lately built by Dean Bond at Leskinfere, and certified for. There is an old house at Ballycannow, which answered for a glebe- house, now out of repair. A glebe of about There is no church at present nor ever was from time immemorial.— There is a good new glebe- house built by the present incumbent and inhabited by him, in which he every Sunday performs divine service until the church can be completed. 13-
