Criminal Record Office.— For escaping from Cardiff Poor Law Institution, .' list ult., subject to an order under Mental Deficiency Act.— Benjamin Roberts, C. R. O. No. 2053- 26, b. 1907, 5ft. 3iin., c. fresh, h. dk. brown, e. brown. A farm labourer ; native of Maindee, Newport. Pre. con. of attempted carnal knowledge fit WHITCHURCH. Inf. to above office. BERKSHIRE. 03. Reading ( Boro.).— For stealing ( lodgings), 16th inst., pair grey flannel trousers; k grey sports coat ; red and grey mixture wool pullover : pair gent's brown shoes, size 8, brogue style, rubber soles and heels ; ,' i white and striped cloth collars, stamped E. H. Weston : 4 handkerchiefs.— A Man who gave name of Frank Walters, b. about 1905, 5ft, 9 or lOin., e. pale, h. fair, e. sunken, clean shaven : dress, blue overalls ( patched), grey coat ( torn at back), blue overcoat with velvet collar, white soft collar, speckled tie. Took lodgings, stated he came from an engineering works at Wigan to work at a local factory ( false). Believed identical with L. Walters, <' ase No. 75, 17- 8- 27. Inf. to the C. C., Reading. HERTFORDSHIRE. 64. Watford ( Co.).- For leaving two children chargeable to Common Fund of Poor Law Union. 30- 5- 27 Ernest Passingham, b. about 1880, 5ft. 4 or Bin., medium build, c. fresh, dk. moustache, rather deaf ; dress, old brown raincoat and cap. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Maskell, Watford. KENT. 65. Sandwich ( Co.). For obtaining by false pretences, at Broadstairs, food, value 7s. : and brown fibre suit- ease, about 28 x 18 x Bin. A^ Man, who s^ ave name of Bouldery, b. about 1902, 5ft. 6 or 7in., c. fresh, h. fair, e. blue- grey, clean shaven, thin features, high cheekbones : dress, grey coat, grey mixture cap, fawn Army shirt, soft collar, It. striped tie, boots, and blue overalls with bib and. braces. Obtained lodgings on the 11th inst. through a friend of loser, stating that he was a foreman for Callendar's Electric Cable Co. Engaged loser and 3 other men to commence work laying cable in Broadstairs on the 15th inst. During the evening of the 12th inst. he asked loser to lend him a suit- case, saying that his own was at the railway station, but owing to it having been ripped open with a chisel, the Railway Authorities' would not let him take it away until it had ' been inspected and the contents put into a sound case. On the 13th inst. he went out with the suit case, stating that he was going to the station and would be back about 11.30 a. m. that day, but has not since been seen. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Lane, Sandwich. LANCASHIRE.. 66.— Chorley ( Co.).— For stealing from unoccupied house, 14th or 15th inst., quantity of gas brackets, curtains, etc. ( recovered).— Hugh Slattery, b. 1884, 5ft. 6fin., c. fresh, h. brown, e. blue, heart, Annie, flower rt., scar 1. forearm, bloated appearance ; dress, dirty grey suit and cap, boots. A rag gatherer ; native of Wigan.— A Man who gave name of Kilcorse, b. 1894, 5ft. 6 or 7in., c. fresh, h. brown, clean shaven, supposed scarjrt. of face or neck ; dress, blue coat and vest, corduroy trousers, It. grey cap, muffler, boots. A labourer. Livedjin lodging { house) and after committing offence sold the property and decamped Inf. to Supt. Marshall, Chorley. 67.— Manchester ( City).- For embezzlement, 15th inst.- Frederick Dewsnap, alias Frederick Sidney Dewsnap, C. R. O. No. S/ 171142, b. 1895, 5ft. lin., slim build, c. fresh, h. It. brown ( thin on top), e. blue, clean shaven; dress, pin stripe blue jacket and vest or a double breasted blue suit, grey trousers, purple- grey mixture'cap. A labourer native of Glossop. Pre. con. of larceny, embezzle- ment and minor offences at CHADDERTON, ROYTON OLDHAM, | WIDNES, MAN- CHESTER ( Frederick Dewsnap), BIRKEN- HEAD ( Frederick Sidney Dewsnap), and on D. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT— continued. to collect accounts. He collected several amounts to the value of £(> 15s., and absconded, abandoning the van at Warrington. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C.. Manchester. NOTTINGHAMSHIRE. ( 18.— Nottingham ( City).— For bigamy.— Sidney Adolphus Buchanan, 1>. l8; H7, 5ft. 5in.. stiff build, c. fair, h. grey, e. blue, false teeth : smart appearance. A joiner. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Nottingham. STAFFORDSHIRE. ( iit. Stoke- on- Trent ( City).— For stealing pair of eyeglasses ( recovered).- A Man. I>. 1882 to 1887, 5ft. I0in., c. fresh, h. fair, e. blue, large nose : dress, dk. grey suit, fawn raincoat ( too small), brown Trilby hat ( greasy), celluloid collar with blue stripes, boots. Stole the glasses from a fish shop where he called for supper, and later sold them at a private house for 15s. Warrant issued. Inf. to the ( I. C., Hanley, Stoke- on- Trent. 70. Stoke- on- Trent ( City).— For embezzling £ 2 15s., between lst May and 18th inst.— Arthur Bennett, b. 1892, 5ft. 4 or 5in., proportionate build, c. pale, h. dk. brown, clean shaven, dis- coloured teeth : dress, dk. suit, grey Trilby hat, collar and tie, boots ; smart appearance. A canvasser : native of Barnsby. Was employed by a surgical appliance manufacturing firm, and collected various amounts from clients and em bezzled same. He is said to have been previously employed in a similar capacity at Kettering and is believed to be well known there. Warrant, issued. Inf. to the ('.('., Stoke- on- Trent. YORKSHIRE ( WEST RIDING). 71.— Doncaster ( Boro.).— For stealing ( lodghigs), 13th inst., £ 11 in Treasury notes. Frank Thomas, alias Thompson, b. 1889, 5ft. 10in., c. fresh, h. It, brown ( bald top), clean shaven ; dress, brown suit ( believed double- breasted), plum colour cap, cheek socks, brown shoes with plaited tops. Tyneside accent. A miner : native of Newcastle or South Shields. Obtained lodgings, stating he had been on his holidays and was starting work at a colliery. He Mas given lodgings and allowed to share a bedroom with loser. During the latter's absence he took the keys from his waistcoat pocket, unlocked the suit- case containing the money, which he stole and absconded. Stated he had a brother employed as an inspector on the tram- ways at Newcastle or South Shields. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Doncaster.
