Monday, May 16, 1027. THE POLICE GAZETTE. INFORMATION RECEIVED 80IN0 TO PRESs 9.30 a. m. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT. CAMBRIDGESHIRE. 26. Cambridge ( Boro.). For obtaining M. A. black gown, with black silk hood, white lining, by false pretences, Kith March. A Man, who gav< name of P. R. Ogle, b. IK(> 7 to IK77. ." » ft. ( i to 7in., medium build, c. fresh, h. grey, small moustache, thin face; dress, fawn raincoat, bowler hat, collar, ( Ik. tie resectable apj) earanee. - May be accompanied by a young girl who uses name of M. Mackenzie. The above described man obtained the property in question by writing to a firm of University outfitters, using an accommodation address in London, and posing as Pelham Rhodes Ogle, M. A., of Peterhouse College, Cambridge. Said he required the goods urgently as he had to give a lecture very shortly. He collected the goods from the accommodation address and has not called there since, lie answers the description of man who at the same time attempted to obtain a gown and hood by the same means posing as P. L. (' other, an M. A. of Jesus College, Cambridge. In each case the real persons are now dead. Mr. Ogle died in l904, and Mr. Cother in 1923. Both their names appear on the clergy list prior to 1904. Warrant issued. Inf. to the ('.('., Cambridge. DEVONSHIRE. 27. Honiton ( Co.).— For leaving his wife and 2 children, chargeable to the Union.- William Harry Howard, alias Harry William Howard Moore, b. 1890, 5ft. 5 or Bin., medium build, c. dk., clean shaven, woman and sword dripping with blood on forearms ; dress, dk. grey check suit ( Stewart Ltd., King Tailors on tab), cap, boots. In pos- session of black enamelled cycle, 24in. frame, Dunlop tyres, 2 brakes ( 1 tied with string), ]> edal rubbers missing, free wheel. A motor driver and fitter. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Braddell, Honiton. DORSETSHIRE. 28.— Weymouth ( Co.).— For stealing ( lodgings), navy bluo overcoat, fit man 5ft. 5in., velvet collar, half bolt at back with 2 pleats, double- breasted.— Terence Michael Megan, b. 1901, 5ft. 7in., slim build, h. fair, e. bluo, clean shaven, wears pince- nez converted from spectacles with fine gold coloured chain over ear ; dress, grey sports coat, grey flannel trousers, heather mixture pullover, champagne colour shirt with soft collar to match, brown tie, grey- mauve tinted cap, brown silk socks and brown shoes. Engaged lodgings 9th inst., saying ho was a clerk in National Provincial Bank, and had been transferred from Southampton, borrowed 12s. and absconded with the coat. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Miller, Weymouth. HAMPSHIRE. 29. Southampton ( Boro.).— For stealing £ 18 0s. 3d. and cheques made payable for £ 8 14s. Ski. - Charles Frederick Pearson, b. 1888, 5ft. 10Jin., c. fair, h. It. brown ; dress, blue suit, It. cap, soft collar, black tie, extra large tie- pin, black boots ( new rubbers). Walks with long strides. A labourer; native of Godstone, Surrey. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Southampton. NOTTINGHAMSHIRE. 30.— Mansfield ( Co.).— For stealing, 5th inst.. at Church Warsop, gent's cycle ( recovered).- Maurice Harrison, alias Mac, b. 1899, 5ft. 7in.. medium build, c. fresh, h. brown, o. grey, clean shaven ; dress, grey coat and vest, dk. troflsers, grey cap, no collar, wears bluo overalls when working. A bricklayer. Stated his intention of proceeding to Stockton- on- Tees. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Neate, Mansfield. SUFFOLK. 31.— Ipswich ( Boro.).— For obtaining food and lodgings by fraud ( worthless cheque), at the Groat White Horse Hotel, betweon 14th nit. and 9th inst.— A Man who gave the name of Dr. Kenneth S. Gordon,, b. 1891 to 1893,[ 5ft. lOorllin., c. ruddy, slight moustache, e. brown, good looking, of military appearance ; dress, either plum- blue suit with stripe or brown gabardine, has two large pockets inside coat, similar to those used by poachers, sometimes wears horn rimmed spectacles, Scotch accent. Represented himself to be in the Indian Medical Service, with a Maternity Home at Assam, India. Usually mixes with good class people and obtains the confidence of ladies by talking on maternity questions. Hired cars from a local garage, for which he tendered worthless cheques, on the Commercial Bank of Scotland, Ltd., Edinburgh, Left behind flannel shirt, cream with white stripes, suit of pyjamas, blue and green, on a cream base, with black pin stripes between, and a double stiff collar, all of which have makers name, R. W. Forsth Ltd.. Edinburgh and Glasgow, sole makers of the Acme shirt on tab. Warrant issued. Inf. to the 0.0., Ipswich. W ORCK8TERSH1R K. : i2. Malvern ( Co.).— For obtaining £ 2 10s. by fraud at Malvern Wells, I lth inst, Frank Watkins, alias John Dennis, b. 1892, 5ft. 8in., stiff build, h. brown, clean shaven, very bad teeth ( several missing), short stumpy fingers ; dress, brown suit, dk. mixture cap, soft collar and tie, brown boots with thick soles, It. raincoat, usually carries a thick stick. Native of Cornwall. Has been employed as a farm labourer in Worcestershire, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Herefordshire and South Wales. Called on loser, who keeps a shop and stated he had been sent by a local farmer ( in whose employ he had been until June, 1926) to see if he could lend him £ 2 Ids. until the following day. Stated he required the money to pay a man who wanted the amount in cash and would not take a cheque, he was advanced the money and gave a receipt. The same evening he called upon another farmer and told him that his employer had sent him to the above shopkeeper to cash a cheque, but the shopkeeper could not do so for the who' amount, being £ 2 10s. short. He requested the loan of that amount until the next day. He was given £ 2 10s. and gave a receipt. He arrived in this district 10 days ago from Pentrilas, Herefordshire, where he had been employed on a farm for about 6 months. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Lyes, Malvern. YORKSHIRE ( EAST RIDING). 33.— Hull ( City).— For being concerned with a man ( in custody) in stealing, 7th inst., a cycle.— A Man who gave name of Smithson, aliases Cavener and Pat, b. 1897 to 1903, 5ft. 6in., slim build, c. and h. dk., clean shaven, London accent ; dress, navy blue coat and trousers, jazz pullover, white muffler, It. cap, brown boots or shoes. Ts stated to have stayed at Grantham Workhouse on or about 1 lth inst. Inf. to the C. C., Hull. : i4. Hull ( City).— For stealing ( dwelling), 11th inst., a Fullatone portable gramophone, 15in. x 15in. x 8in., imitation black leather case, leather handle, silver plated fittings ; H. M. V. record with the tunes Charleston and Bluebird ; lady's pale pink georgette evening dress, sleeveless, belt of silver material, flowers and bow at back ; lady's black georgette evening do. ; black silk underskirt with glass beads, chinchilla fur round bottom.— A Man, b. about 1894, 5ft. 10 or llin., medium build, c. fresh, h. brown, e. blue, small It. brown moustache, gold upper tooth, several tattoo marks and H. S. on arm ; dress, blue or brown suit, cap, stiff collar, red and black striped tie, shoes. Carried new leather suit- case with label thereon marked Cunard Line. Took lodgings and was then wearing brown suit. Was seen later to leave wearing a blue suit, and a cardboard box, bearing name Montague Burton, which had evidently contained it, was left behind.
