No. M/ 7458, b. 1905. A mental defective ; native of Newcastle- on- Tyne. Pre. con. of cycle- stealing at HEXHAM. Inf. to above office. 2.— G Division.— For obtaining 17 dozen lady's and gent's umbrellas by false pretences ( worthless cheque).— P. G. Hart/ b. 1881, 5ft. lin., h. dk., clean shaven, sharp features ; dress, dk. clothing, bowler hat. Entered loser's shop, presented card with P. G. Hart, 19, Princes- street, Rhyl, thereon, gave orders for umbrellas value £ 57 6s., for which he tendered cheque, No. SB 29- 385/ E. 17755, on Rhyl Branch of Midland Bank, Ltd. Was allowed to take the goods, and on being presented at bank cheque was returned marked No Account. Warrant issued. Inf. to C. R. O. DEVONSHIRE. 4.— Exeter ( City).— For obtaining food and lodgings and money by false pretences, 23- 12- 25.— Walter Thomas Clifton, Private No. 4909632, South Staffs. Regt., b. 1903, 5ft. 5| in., c. dk., h. dk. brown, e. bluish- grey, Lizzie and Walter rt. forearm. A deserter. Came to Exeter on leave from Crownhill barracks and obtained goods from chairman of Y. M. C. A. by stating he was stranded and that Capt. Opie, R. A. M. C., Exeter, was arranging to get some of his credit from his C. O. Telephone messages were received by loser pur- porting to come from Capt. Opie but it was later found that this officer knew nothing of the matter, and that he was in debt with pay master. Warrant i^ ued. Inf. to the C. C., Exeter. FLINTSHIRE. 5— Rhyl ( Co.).— Sidney Dukes, Case No. 89, 8- 2- 26, is identical with Sydney Dukes, alias, William Henry Gough, C. R. O. Brown, Cycle & Motor Engineer, Garston, Watford, thereon.— A Man, who gave name of Harry Jackson, b. 1896 to 1898, 5ft. 8 or 9in., medium build, c. fair ; dress, grey overcoat, believed blue suit, Trilby hat, shoes. Called on cycle agent, 22nd ult., stated his motor cycle had skidded and he had left it in a motor garage for repairs, hired the cycle to go to St. Albans on urgent business and failed to return. DERBYSHIRE. 22.— Alfreton ( Co.).— 9th or 10th inst., from a cowshed at Oakerthorpe.— Gent's waterproof coat, of black shiny material, double breasted, buttons each side, in good condition.— Suspicion is attached to A Man who gave name of Len, b. about 1900, 5ft. 6 or 7in., slim build, c. fair, h. It., tattoed both forearms, scar wrist ( believed rt.) ; dress, blue jacket and waistcoat, khaki trousers ( blue patch each knee), grey cap, grey muffler, old fawn raincoat or stolen coat, heavy boots. Inf. to Supt. Campbell, Alfreton. DURHAM. 23.— Stockton- on- Tees ( Co.).— 6th inst., from s. s. ' Clearlight ' in dock at Port Clarence.— 2 gent's woollen vests ; 2 pairs gent's woollen pants ; 2 gent's shirts, black and yellow stripes ; 2 pairs grey and tartan striped socks ; pair field boots, size 8; gent's metal watch and silver chain ; £ 5 Bank of England note. The watch and chain were recovered on the 8th, pawned at Middlesbrough by a man who gave name of Albert Rees, b. 1905, 5ft 5in., thin build, c. dk., h. black, clean shaven, thin face ; dress, shabby blue coat and trousers ( vest of different material with collar), dk. grey cap, stolen boots. Also on same date the town cinema was entered by raising skylight, dropping into lavatory and forcing door of inner room. DERBYSHIRE. 42.— Derby ( Boro.).—" Coventry Eagle," Case No. 69, 12- 2- 26. PERSONS OR BODIES FOUND. ESSEX. 43.— Clacton- on- Sea ( Co.).— 10th inst., in ditch on roadside at Great Bromley.— Body of Male Child, nude, fully developed, wrapped in brown paper and tied with string. The child was born about 6 weeks ago, and had lived for from 4 to 6 hours. There is a bruise about l| in. long at base of skull apparently caused by blunt instrument and inflicted before death. Inf. to Supt. Phillibrown, Clacton- on- Sea. MISCELLANEOUS. HAMPSHIRE. 44.— Bournemouth ( Co.).— On 9th or 10th inst,, the premises of a marine store dealer were entered ( either be means of duplicate key, or concealed on premises before closing time 9th inst.).— About £ 30, consisting of £ 24 Treasury notes. £ 5 silver, and £ 1 bronze, was taken from unlocked drawers in the office, excepting the silver which was taken from safe. A crude attempt was made to open the latter, also another safe by means of drilling near the keyhole, a small hole being; drilled in each, but they were eventually opened with the kevs, which were left in an unlocked drawer in SJ ' the office. Inf. to Supt. Garrett, Bournemouth. DEATH. 45.— Reginald Wolstencroit Ecoth alias Robert Williams, C. R. O. No. 8873- 14, died in H. M. Prison, Manchester, 7th inst. Pre. con. of larceny, fraud and minor offences at MANCHESTER ( Reginald Booth), YORK ( Reginald Wilson Booth), ROM- FORD ( Reginald Wolstencroft Booth), STRANGEWAYS ( Rupert Saunders Banks), KNUTSFORD ( Robert Thompson) and BURY ( Reginald William Booth). RE- CONVICTIONS. 46.— Robert Taylor, C. R. O. No. S/ 169294, was sentenced at Darwen ( Co.) Pol. Ct., 4- 2- 26, to 3 mos. impt. for fraud. Six other cases of fraud and five of larceny were taken into consideration when sentence was passed. See Case No. 19, 1- 2- 26. Wednesday, February 17, 1926. On 4th inst,, the first described man and women entered costumiers at Hulme, asked for a coat, which first described woman selected to be sent to certain address, and loser accepted cheque, and gave £ 3 Is. change. Cheque later found to be worthless and address given false. On 5th inst.. a man and woman, probably identical with two of above persons, obtained 37s. from a gramophone dealer at Hulme by tendering cheque, No. P 7/ 412 T 67659, payable to George White, drawn by Edward Blake on Midland Bank, Liverpool, which cheque had. on 4th inst., been tendered at a gent's outfitters in attempt to obtain £ 4 5s. 6d. by the two men. Called upon a whole- sale jeweller's, presented card inscribed Bourne & Son, Jewellers, 22A, Bridge Street, Evesham, Worcestershire, stated that he was Bourne's son, and that he had been sent by his father to select rings and was given the above described. Trilby hat, collar, tie, boots. Was employed as secretary of local union and forged the signature of the wife of a member who he falsely stated had died. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. Stated he was foreman joiner employed by Sir Lindsay Parkinson, Ltd.. also that he had been offered the management of an hotel at Eccleston which he was taking over in a month ( false). J. Sadler, b. 1898, 5ft. 8in., slim build, c. pale, h. It. brown ; dress, blue overcoat with belt, It. fawn Trilby hat, collar, tie, boots. Called on loser, 9th inst., in answer to advertisement in local paper, and said he wished to test the car on behalf of prospective purchaser. Expressed satisfaction with the running and asked to be allowed to use the car for a journey to Banbury where he had some business to transact. Loser acceded to request on condition car was returned same day, but nothing further has been heard of him. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Leamington.
