Inf. to above office. 2.— Criminal Record Office.— For escaping from her situation, 26th ult., whilst on leave of absence, from the State Institution, The Cape, Warwick.— Lily Wass, C. R. O. No. M/ 7699, b. 1901, 5ft. 5in., well built, h. black ( curly), e. brown, gipsy appearance ; dress, black housemaid's dress, blue mackintosh, black hat. 3.— A Division.— For unlawfully demanding £ 6 10s. by means of forged instruments ( Post Office Savings Bank book and warrant).— Frank McNamara, aliases Leslie James Ramsey, Frank Roburn, Ronald Amery, George Layton, John Henry Manners and James Henry Waite, b. 1903, 5ft. 8in., medium build, c. sallow, h. brown, e. blue. A telegraphist, and deserter from Royal Corps of Signals since 10- 8- 25. Opens Post Office Savings Bank accounts with 10s. deposits, alters the entries in the deposit books to higher amounts, with the aid of chemicals, adds fraudulent entries of deposits and withdrawals and forges a Post Office date stamp impression to the entries. In two cases obtained warrants for 6s. and 8s. from the Post Office Savings Bank Department to make withdrawals from the accounts by sending in a Notice of Withdrawal form, afterwards altered the warrants to higher amounts and presented them with the relative deposit book at Post Offices for payment. In other cases, after making the fraudulent alterations in the deposit books, has obtained demand withdrawals of £ 1 each from the accounts. Warrant issued. Inf to C. R. O. 4.— G Division.— For stealing ( bailee) quantity of British and Colonial postage stamps value £ 1 10s.— Frederick Spencer, aliases C. Maxwell and H. Chalmers Reid, C. R. O. No. 3990- 25, b. 1882, 5ft. 6| in., medium build, c. fresh, h. brown, e. hazel, short dk. moustache, scar 1. of neck, B. O. J. S. K. rt., heart and cross 1. forearm, carries head forward, speaks quietly ; dress, dk. grey overcoat, dk. felt hat. A clerk ; native of Needham Market. Pre. con. of larceny on CO. Engaged furnished room for short period, answered advertisements in various stamp collect- ing journals, or Exchange and Mart, obtained the stamps on approval, and absconded to a new address, where he assumed a different name and repeated his system of fraud. No. 1583- 23, b. 1903, 5ft. 6in., c. fresh, h. dk. brown, e. blue, clean shaven, small scar forehead. Native of Keighley. Pre. con. of larceny and fraud at BRADFORD, OTLEY ( Douglas Hodgkins) and HALIFAX ( Douglas Hodgskin). Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Thompson, Bury. LEICESTERSHIRE . 6.— Leicester ( City).— For obtaining £ 20 by false pretences ( worthless cheque), 27th ult.— Rebecca Sedley, alias M. Sedley, b. 1866 to 1876, short, stiff build, shuffling gait ; dress, navy blue costume, small black hat; carried old- fashioned suede handbag. Is the sister of well known local resident, who has, till recently, been making her an allowance. Induced a firm to cash cheque for £ 20 on the Midland Bank, Ealing ( L.), pur- porting to be drawn by her sister, Fanny H. K. Teasdale. Three other cheques were presented to other firms and cashed by them. Also obtained £ 20 at Windsor by similar means. May proceed to Ireland. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Leicester. LINCOLNSHIRE. 7.— Bourne ( Co.).— For stealing gent's double- breasted fawn mackintosh overcoat, in good condition, straps at bottom of each sleeve, waist belt about 2in. in width, 2 outside pockets, 2 rows of brown buttons down front, check lining and large collar ; dark greyette twill jacket, double- breasted, 2 outside and 1 inside pockets, black lining, no vent at back.— George William Hughes, b. 1904, 5ft. 5in., h. brown, e. grey. Probably wearing the stolen mackintosh. Left behind a cap, marked E. 2. Inf. to Supt. Duffin, Bourne. MIDLOTHIAN:. 8.— Edinburgh ( City).— For failing to appear at an adjourned diet at the Sheriff's Court, 1st inst., on a charge of obtaining £ 11 2s. 6d. by false pretences.— John Haggerty C. R. O. No. 2359- 26, b. 1896, 5ft. 8in., c. fresh, h. brown, e. grey, scar rt. of neck. A dealer ; native of Aberdeen, where he has cons, for larceny, fraud and a minor offence. Obtained the money by falsely representing that he had 200 jute bags for sale. Sheriff's warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Edinburgh. MONTGOMERYSHIRE. 9.— Welshpool ( Co.).— Adverting to Case No. 9, 8- 2- 26. W. Evans. Additional inf.— Also wanted for aiding and abetting.— Three Men : 1st, b. 1871 to 1876, 5ft. 6 or 7in., stout build, c. and h. dk., full face, Jewish appearance ; dress, dk. grey suit, dk. blue mackintosh, bowler hat.— 2nd, b. about 1896, 5ft. 8 or 9in., medium build, c. and h. fair ; dress, grey trousers, fawn raincoat, Trilby hat.— 3rd, b. 1891 to 1896, 5ft. 7in., medium build, c. and h. dk. ; dress, fawn raincoat and grey cap. These men, accompanied by the man who gave name W. Evans, were at Montgomery Fair, 4th inst., one selling Tripled Milled Soap. Left Mont- gomery by motor car and arrived at Welshpool, asked driver to take them to Ellesmere, which he declined to do, then asked to be taken to Oswestry, which was again declined. Inf. to the D. A waiter. On 30th ult. arrived at the hotel and was allowed to stay, as he was known to loser, who had previously employed him as waiter in London, and assisted in the bar. Stated he had walked from London, and was going to Cromer to try for work as waiter. After remaining a week asked permission to go to Norwich, and was entrusted with large brown paper parcel, believed to contain drapery, to deliver to a hotel there, for a commercial traveller. He failed to deliver the parcel and did not return. Believed identical with Albert Edward McGregor, C. R. O. No. 10834- 24. Inf. to Supt. No. 1715- 23, b. 1894, 5ft. 5iin., c. fresh, h. dk. brown, e. hazel, clean shaven, round face ; dress, brown suit ( tight trousers), It. cap, red handkerchief tied in bow round neck, brown boots. A dealer ; native of Great Ellingham. Pre. con. of fowlstealing and minor offences at EAST HARLING, THET- FORD and ATTLEBOROUGH. Associates with van dwellers and may be found travelling with James Crickmore, alias Chitty. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt, Dennis, Swaffham. NORTHAMPTONSHIRE . 12 — Northampton ( Boro.).— For stealing ( lodgings), 5th or 6th inst., gent's gold square belcher watch chain, with bar and small drop chain attached, also seal with red stone one side and green stone the other, attached.— A Man who gave name of Horace Wright, b. about 1890, 5ft. 5in., medium build, c. dk., h. ( bald front) black, clean shaven, slight impediment in speech ; dress, brown serge suit, dk. grey pullover, navy blue overcoat with velvet collar, bowler hat, grey silk socks with check pattern, wing collar, fawn spats, shoes, brown kid gloves, and wore diamond tie- pin with ruby in centre. Was met by loser on 5th inst. while looking for lodgings and who agreed to let him stay at his house. Said his father was going to build number of houses in vicinity and that he would stay about 18 mos. ( false). Went out following morning saying he was going to Town Hall to get plans, etc., and would return later. Failed to do so and the articles were after- wards missed. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. An absentee ; native of Reading. After absenting himself from his regiment obtained employment as labourer with loser. Inf. to Supt. Taylor, Oswestry. SUSSEX ( EAST). 14.— Eastbourne ( Boro.).— For obtaining by false pretences, 26th ult., banker's cheque and order value £ 65.— Horace Hilton Jarrett, b. 1898, about 5ft. 9in., well built, c. sallow, h. dk., clean shaven, sometimes wears pince- nez ; dress, black coat and vest, dk. trousers with pin stripe, blue melton overcoat, bowler hat. Has been employed as estate agent's clerk. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Eastbourne.
