Called on off- licence keeper, ordered goods value £ 2 5s., tendered in payment cheque, No. Q64212, on National Provincial Bank, Bedminster, Bristol, for £ 7 10s., drawn in favour of and endorsed in name of local resident to whom the goods were to be sent, and received £ 5 5s. change. Cheque returned marked No Account, and endorsement was found to be a forgery. Inf. to C. R. O. DERBYSHIRE. 2.— Ashbourne ( Co.).— For failing to pay fine £ 1 7s. HERTFORDSHIRE . 4.— Bishops Stortford ( Co.).— For stealing ( dwelling) at Hunsdon, between 15th and 19th inst., gent's brown lounge jacket with stripe, believed patch on lining, 3 black buttons, 2 outside, 2 inside and a ticket pocket, 1 pocket contains a Widford Slate Club card in name of Leonard Fish ; pair gent's black lace- up boots, with toe- caps, been soled.— Ernest Fish, b. about 1892, 5ft. 5 or 6in., c. sallow, thin face, recently commenced to grow moustache ; dress, old brown coat, grey check cap, corduroy breeches and puttees. C., Margate. 8.— Margate ( Boro.).— For leaving his wife and child chargeable to common fund of Isle of Thanet Union.— Joseph Benjamin Butler, b. 1886, about 5ft. 6in., thick set, c. fresh, h. fair, e. blue, clean shaven. Believed to be at present employed in a tea warehouse in London. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Margate. 9.— Margate ( Boro.).— For obtaining by false pretences lady's gold wrist watch.— Frank Gates, b. about 1887, 5ft. 9in., c. fresh, h. turning grey, clean shaven. Answered advertisement in Ex- change and Mart, offering the watch for sale, enclosed cheque, No. SI/ 61289, on London Joint City and Midland Bank, Willesden Green Branch, which was later found to be one of a number stolen in July last, and received the watch at an accom- modation address. For stealing £ 3 5s., 7th inst. — Robert Chapman, b. 1886, 5ft. 6in., stiff build, c. sallow, h. black, e. brown, clean shaven ; dress, grey check overcoat, blue suit, cap or soft hat, collar and tie. A fruiterer's salesman ; native of Hull. Was secretary of the Londesborough Club and was in charge on 7th inst. SHROPSHIRE. 18.— Oswestry ( Co.).— Remanded till 29th inst., charged with being on enclosed premises for unlawful purpose ( climbed roof of three storey honse, descended by water spout and fell through glass verandah, night of 20th inst.).— George Dockerty, b. 1895, 5ft. ll^ in., slim build, c. pale, h. black ( turning grey), e. blue, clean shaven, long features ; dress, blue coat and vest, grey trousers, grey cap, dirty brown muffler or neckerchief, heavy boots. Found in his possession : Army papers, showing that he is a reservist of the 1st Batt. Irish Guards, from which regiment he was discharged on 29th April, 1924, and is entitled to wear the Militarv Medal. He states that he was born at Greenock in 1895 and remained there working in ship yards until 1914. He joined the Irish Guards in October, 1914, and was demobi- lized in April, 1919, he re- enlisted 4th March, 1921, and was transferred to Army Reserve 29th April, 1924. His certificate of identity shows he has travelled from Glasgow, through Liverpool to Cardiff and back to Oswestry. Inf. to Supt. Taylor, Oswestry. APPREHENSIONS. 19.— M. P. With another woman, called on wife of licensed victualler, said they were fair people, and were painting up for Lynn Mart, and were employing a number of men. The work would last 6 or 8 weeks, and they would require a quantity of beer. Loser agreed to supply the beer, and Odlev then induced her to purchase for £ 7 15s. a skin rug, which was described as a Loda bear skin.
