METROPOLITAN POLICE DISTRICT. 1.— D Division.— For stealing ( servant), silver tray, 24 x 15in., crest— rampant lion holding knot, jlnd motto— Audaces Fortuna Juvat thereon; doz. silver dessert spoons ; doz. large silver forks ; doz. small silver do., bearing crest of dolphin and rampant lion holding knot; 2 silver jugs, plain ; 3 sauce boats ( 1 heavily chased) ; sugar sifter ; small silver bowl ; silver cigar box, and tray to match, with crest of rampant lion holding knot; silver cigar lighter ; doz. tea spoons, crested with dolphin ; 2 silver toast racks : and 4 silver plated soup plates.— Frank Dennison, b. 1893, 5ft. 10in., medium build, h. ginger, clean shaven, prominent teeth, bushy eyebrows ; dress, black coat and vest, striped trousers, soft collar, black tie, bowler hat, boots. Obtained work as butler and during absence of his employer stole the property and absconded. Inf. to C. R. O. London. Pre. con. of larceny, fraudulent con- version and minor offences at EDINBURGH ( Frank Turner), POOLE, EXETER ( Francis Turner) and on A, C, D and Y. Made loser's ( an artist) acquaintance, said he was in a position to obtain commissions for her, was handed the articles as specimens, promised to return them same day, but failed to do so. O. 3.— G Division.— For embezzling £ 13, 9th inst. — Frederick Ronald Charles Burden, b. 1895, 6ft., medium build, h. fair, e. blue, thin face, lost top 1st rt. finger, heart with dagger through 1. forearm ; dress, grey suit and overcoat, bowler hat, black socks, boots ( patent toes). Military appearance. Believed native of Lancashire and may be found at Bootle. Was employed as a collector salesman, and on 9th inst. collected various sums of money for and on behalf of his employers and absconded. Warrant issued. Inf. to C. R. O. 2.— B Division.— For stealing ( bailee), two ivory miniatures, oval, both heads of girls, and signed Anna Douglas, and the date ; 2 water colours, unframed, of country scenes ( one 14 x 10 and one 6 x Tin.), and signed Anna Douglas.— Francis Turner, aliases William Turner, Francis Vera! Turner, Francis Verl Turner, Francis Vernl Turner, Frank Turner and Paul Chesney, C. R. O. An engineer ; native of DEVONSHIRE. 4.— Exeter ( Co.).— For escaping from St. Thomas Workhouse, 13th inst.— Sidney Beckley, b. 1878, 5ft. lin., thick set, h. dk. ( turning grey), e. weak and blinks, round features ; dress, fawn corduroy suit, grey cap, underclothing marked No. 27, St. Thomas Union. A cattle drover; native of Launcells. DUMFRIES- SHIRE . 5.— Dumfries ( Co.).— For obtaining £ 10 18s. 8d. by fraud, at Sanquhar, 15th inst.— William Jardine Wylie, b. 1902, 5ft, 6in„ medium build, h. and e. dk., clean shaven, slightty lame, Scottish accent, bird in flight palm 1. hand, bird with letter in bill, web both hands, rear admiral's flag, bust of woman, butterfly, heart, Madge 1., stars and stripes, lighthouse, thistle, Rolling home to Bonnie Scotland rt. arm ; dress, grey check suit and cap, white soft collar, tie, boots with square rubber heels. An ex- navy man. Called at a colliery office, produced letter purporting to have been written by an employee authorising bearer to receive the pay due to the writer and four others. Was given the money, and absconded. May endeavour to go to sea. Sheriff's warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Dumfries. HAMPSHIRE. 6.-— Portsmouth ( Boro.).— For obtaining £ 4 15s. 4d. by false pretences ( worthless cheque), 25th ult. George Ford, aliases John Rawlings, Charles Russell and C. H. Randall, C. R. O. No. 2743- 9( 5, Cases Nos. 306, Supplement A ( Vol. IV.), and 6, 24- 4- 25, b. 1843, 5ft. Ojin., c. fresh, h. white, e. blue, scar nose, 2nd 1. finger deformed. A journalist; native of London. Pre. con. of fraud, forgery, bigamy, larceny and a minor offence at SOUTHEND, RAMSGATE ( Frederick Henry Charles Clarke), HASTINGS, LEWES ( Edward Dawson), GREAT YARMOUTH ( Charles Bennett Jackson), FOLKESTONE ( George Ford) and in M. P. D. Obtained wines and spirits on credit, and gave in payment a worthless cheque, drawn on the Midland Bank, Sydenham branch, for an amount in excess of the account, and received the balance in cash. The cheque book was obtained from above bank by false representations, and contained cheques Nos. DB/ 33 over F. 4/ 15121/ 50. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. Leavey & Co., Stratford, Woolwich and Gillingham ; suit- case, about 26in., dk. brown leather cover, brass fittings.— A Man, b. 1903 to 1905, 5ft. 8 or 9in., c. pale, h. fair, well spoken ; dress, It. grey suit and cap, fancy woollen pullover ; smart appearance. Telephoned loser, and asked for above articles to be sent to a certain address, intercepted the messenger and took the parcel from him. It was later found that he did not reside at the address given. This bicycle was left at a house at Billington, 13th April, by the after- described man who said he would call for same a few daj's later but has not been heard of since. The bicycle is now at County Police Station, Wilpshire, near Blackburn.— B. about 1898, 5ft. 6 or 7in., slim build, c. fresh, clean shaven ; dress, navy blue suit, It. cap, dk. muffler, boots. Wednesday, May 20, 1925. MISCELLANEOUS— cont in ued. Blythe Bridge. The injuries to the beast are supposed to have been inflicted with the shaft of a pitchfork kept in the cow- shed. A post- mortem revealed perforation of the rectum about 24in. up the passage, which the veterinary surgeon says is consistent with the shaft of the pitchfork having been inserted with great force. A letter dated 9th April, and signed Simon Smallbrain ( no address was given in the letter) applying for the situation of farm labourer, was received by the owner of the heifer who had inserted an advertisement in the Staffordshire Sentinel for a farm labourer.— Suspicion is attached to A Man, b. 1885 to 1890, 5ft. 6 or Tin., medium build, stoops slightly ; dress, brown overcoat ( rough material), brown Trilby hat ( brim turned down all round).
