P. D. for extensive frauds, larceny and forging and uttering. He is in possess- ion of a large number of blank cheques on Barclay's Bank, 5, Oxford Street ( L.). He usually calls upon jewellers, outfitters, clothiers and other tradesmen in the afternoon, says he wishes to purchase some article for his young lady or as a present by the staff where he is working, gives a good class business address in the neighbourhood and after considerable hesitation, selects the property for which he promises to pay cash on delivery. He then asks for the goods to be sent, usually about tea time, by messenger whom he intercepts on the stairway of the building selected and whom he induces to accept a cheque which is worthless. Each cheque is from a five- numbered Edwards, Clifford, Jeffery, Watsham, Saunders, Pemberton, Bailey, Ward, Walters, Martin, Allen, Granger, Raymond and W. L. Allen, C. R. O. No. 10523- 22, b. 1897, 5ft. 5{ in., c. fresh, h. brown, e. blue, clean shaven, very small teeth, penetrating gaze ; dress, usually wears navy blue overcoat, blue suit and bowler hat. Extremely plausible and persuasive and always ready with an excuse when questioned. Stares into the eyes of the person with whom he is conversing. A salesman ; native of London. Told loser he knew of a quantity of wireless goods being disposed of cheaply, was handed cheque for £ 13 6s. 8d.. with a view to purchase, and absconded after cashing the cheque. Warrant issued.
