SUSSEX ( EAST). 8.— Eastbourne ( Boro.).— For obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences.— A Man who gave name of Barkley, l>. 1885, 5ft. 7 or Sin., thick set, c. fresh, h. dk. brown, fair moustache ( inclined to ginger), false teeth, hps twitch when speaking, lame 1. leg, uses stick ; dress, blue suit, blue melton overcoat ( well worn), Trilby hat, black and white striped shirt, soft collar, muffler, brown boots. Stated native of Rotherhithe, Kent. Obtained lodgings, stated his wife was hang ill at local hospital ( false). On 18th inst., was given letter to post containing £ 1 Treasury note, but the usual receipt for same has not yet been received, and he is believed to have stolen it. Absconded 19th inst.
