Pre. con. of larceny and cyclestealing at EASTBOURNE, ELLESMERE, in CITY OF LONDON ( Edward Carl Brown) and LUTON ( Frederick Stanley). Obtained lodgings with loser, stated that he knew her friends at Eastbourne, stayed 10 days and absconded without paying, taking the property with him. Inf. to C. R. O. CAMBRIDGESHIRE. 2.— Cambridge ( Boro.).— For obtaining by false pretences ( worthless cheque) quantity of food, between 1st and 8th ult. — J. Summers, b. 1889 to 1894, 5ft. 6 or 7in., medium build, c. and h. dk., clean shaven ; dress, It. grey tweed mixture overcoat, soft felt hat, brown shoes. Smart appearance. States he is totally blind, having lost his sight in a motor accident at Brook- lands Racing Track, about 10 yrs. ago.— Mrs. Summers, correct name believed Edna Holbrook, b. 1899 to 1904, 5ft, 3 or 4in., stout build, c. fresh, h. fair, small feet; dress, navy blue costume, large brick red coloured hat with streamers at rt. side, skunk fur. Caried small dog, believed Pekinese. Stayed at hotel and tendered in payment cheque, No. 40/ 57118, drawn on Messrs. Lloyd's Bank, Ltd., Hampstead Branch, 40, Rosslyn Hill, N. W. 3, for £ 7 13s. 2d., payable to Miss Ida F. Pink, signed J. Summers. The cheque, when presented at the bank, was returned marked R/ D. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Cambridge. 3.— Cambridge ( Boro.).— For obtaining £ 1 10s. by false pretences, 3rd inst.— A Man, b. 1889 to 1894, 5ft. 4in., well built, c. fresh, clean shaven, high cheek bones ; dress, It. grey jacket, It. grey cap, dirty white apron, boots ( far worn). Stated that his firm had been laying lino at Messrs. Saint's Offices, Newmarket Road, Cam- bridge, where complainant's husband is employed, and that the foreman had given him permission to purchase a piece which had been left over. He further stated that complainant's husband had purchased the lino for 30s., and had sent him with it, and that she was to pay him ( false). Was given the money, and the linoleum was afterwards found to be worthless. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Cambridge. HAMPSHIRE. 8.— Fareham ( Co.).— For obtaining £ 1 by false pretences, 10th inst.— A Man. b. 1894 to' 1899, 5ft. 4 to 6in., c. sallow, h. dk. brown, bad teeth, slightly lame 1. leg, lost top 3rd rt. finger ; dress, grey suit, fawn mackintosh, black velour hat, white shirt with red stripes, brown shoes with rubber soles. Called at a Labour Exchange, was introduced to a man, and offered to learn him the hosiery trade. Stated a security of £ 50 would be required, obtained £ 1, and made an appointment later, which he failed to keep. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Jacobs, Fareham. 9.— Fareham ( Co.).— For stealing lady's gold keyless watch, open face, old- fashioned ; gate pattern gold bracelet; also for obtaining board and lodgings by false pretences.- A Man who gave name of Wilbams, l » . 1884 to 1889, about 5ft. 6in., slim build, c. fresh, h. dk. brown, fair moustache, rather large nose ; dress, check pattern sports coat, grey flannel trousers, check cap, blue shirt, collar, black bow with white spots, fawn socks, patent boots with suede tops. Stated he was going to work as head checker at the Midland Bank, Gosport ( false). Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Jacobs, Fareham. 10. Fareham ( Co.).— For stealing ( trick), Singer sewing machine, No. Y. 1661120- 66. K, walnut base and cover.— Eliza Pearce, b. 1874 to 1879, about 5ft. 6in., h. and e. brown, superior manner; dress, dk. costume, small dk. hat. Stated she was a widow, and in receipt of a pension. Inf. to Supt. Jacobs, Fareham. KENT. 11.- Gravesend ( Boro.).-— For stealing ( dwelling) £ 10, 10th inst. Edward Thomas Higgins, b. 1884, about 5ft. 6in., medium build, c. and moustache dk., suffers from rheumatism and walks badly, uses walking- stick ; dress, dk. suit, cap, white sweatee, cloth topped boots. Pre. con. of fraud, larceny and embezzlement at ALTRINCHAM, SOUTH HANK. WHITCHURCH, OAKMERE ( Edgar Lionel Robinson) and MANCHESTER ( Percy Victor Johnson). Represented to loser that he had called on behalf of the Police respecting a former employee, whom he stated was in custody, and if 25s. was not paid immediately she would be prosecuted. Obtained above amount, Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Manchester. 14 - - Manchester ( City).- For embezzling £ 3 3s. 2d., 30th ult- Samuel Barton, b. 1875, 6ft., slender build, c. sallow, h. dk. brown, slight dk. moustache, splay footed, well educated ; dress, dk. grey suit, grey overcoat and velvet collar, soft collar and tie, pot hat ; smart appear- ance. Collected above amount on behalf of his employer, converted same to his own use and absconded. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Manchester. 15.— Old Trafford ( Co.).— Adverting to Case No. 10, 13- 10- 24. Two Women. Amended inf.— These women have been traced and are not now wanted for this offence. Inf. to Supt. Told a local officer of the Church Army that he had come from Southampton in answer to an advertisement for a salesman at a local shop ( false) and had slept out the previous night. Was given 2s., which he promised to repay next morning. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Eastbourne. WORCESTERSHIRE. 19. Worcester ( City).— For stealing ( lodgings), lady's handbag, imitation crocodile leather, about 12in. by 6in. ; lady's grey purse ; gold wristlet watch, on expanding bracelet ; and about £ 1 6s. 6d. — Ruth Toole, abases Dorothy Dare and Florence Makers, C. R. O. No. 15367- 19, b. 1896, 4ft. lOJin., c. fresh, h. and e. brown ; dress, dk. brown coat, small red hat. A factory hand ; native of Coventry. Pre. con. of larceny at BIRMING- HAM. Obtained carpet, signed a hire purchase agreement, stated he was in receipt of an Army pension of £ 1 a week, also that he had fallen off a scaffold and was receiving compensation ( false).
